Cooking Thanksgiving Dinner

[Torri]

Torri Stood slight ridgid ad the headmistress came out to meet her. Shrinking down a little in herself before looking down at the floor, "yes miss." she said in a small voice, almost whispering. The headmistress being quite a bit taller than her was rather intimidating, but she trusted the headmistress alone at the school. And decided she would do only what would be good for her.....right?

Watching as she opened the door and waited inside for her, Torri looked through it before walking in a little behind her, hiding behind her body frame shyly and refusing to look up from the floor. Noting her introduction, She felt herself blush red in her cheeks. There was quite a cheery atmosphere in the room, and it made it all the more difficult for her to enter, thinking she had intruded on one of their occasions.

Tapping miss frost on the back of her shoulder she reached up to whisper, "What is the occasion again? i'd never heard of it before miss...." her voice small and childlike, mimicing how she felt inside as she hide behind the headmistress.

[Emma Frost]

The White Queen returned to her seat at the head of the table and gestured for Shimmer to take a seat next to Nightcrawler.

"Well, the occasion is called Thanksgiving and it's basically an excuse to reflect on all that you have and all that you are thankful for, and to gorge yourself on some wonderfull food." She nodded with a slight smile.

"Historically though it dates back to when this country was first settled by the pilgrims and they wouldn't have survived without the help of the native americans who brought them food to survive. That's why all the food, and the traditional quality of the food as well. It's not every day you get this type of fair." She spread her hands apart as if to say 'look at all this lovely food'.

[Torri]

Torri tentativly made her way over to the gestured seat, trying to make as small a movement as she could when walking. She looked over at the people around her and hung her head, "I'm sorry for disturbin' you." she appologized in her thick scottish accent, trying once again to make her voice as small as possible.

She raised her head to the headmistress and nodded her head, "I'm sorry for not rememberin' miss, it must be a big thing here i guess....i'm sorry." trying to hang her head even lower than before.

[Haven]

"You say sorry alot." Niki noted aloud as the little girl took her seat. "Don't apologize so much- sometimes people deserve to be treated rough, you know."

She had forgotten where she was and who was sitting around her, but she didn't care actually - she wouldn't apologize for her remark. The girl was a little like a younger version of herself before she decided to stop caring what other people thought so much.

[Torri]

Torri lowered her head again as the older girl spoke. Feeling a little scorned and told off she sat back in her seat, wrapping her arms around her. "sorry..." she mumbled again, letting her hair fall over the front of her face. She felt bad enough for interupting, but to have been told off by another student was what she thought was worse than being told by one of the Professors.

She gripped tightly around her stomach, trying to force herself to take up as little room as possible in her seat, not wanting to be sat by one of the teachers. But she hoped she wasn't being as obvious as she thought.....it was quite a bad habit she had.

[Haven]

"I didn't mean to make you feel bad, just to let you know that it's part of living to make mistakes- nobody's perfect and you don't have to be either, so relax. I'm thankful I can make mistakes and just keep on going without feeling bad about 'em." She smiled at the girl so she knew that she wasn't trying to make her feel bad and also to hide the fact that she actually did feel kind of bad herself for making the pretty little thing feel like scrunching herself up into what looked to be a very uncomfortable position.

"Happy Thanksgiving Shimmer- what are you thankful for?" Haven asked her hoping to smooth over what was possibly the worst first impression she may have ever made. Haven was known for her terrible first impressions, having lived in many foster homes and been a runaway on many occasions.

[Torri]

Torri looked up at the girl a little, still keeping her head low and her position small. She had used to cramped spaces, and although she liked them, being in such close quarters with so many others made her feel so claustraphobic it was unreal. But she was glad to have the other girl explain herself, to her. Not that it did alot of good to her, but still it worked well enough to keep her wanting to stay in the room.

"Um...happy thanksgiving......" she mumbled, looking up a little more and trying to smile even a little. "I'm thankful....for....being around others who don't think i'm as strange as others.....i hope...." she said softly, her voice very quiet once again, but proud for even speaking so much. Given the amount of people around her.

[Shadowkat]

"Me too Shimmer. All the time as a matter of fact, and that's what this school is for, so we can all help each other out. I'm thankful for my friends and family right here at the school." Shadowkat said putting an arm around Aqua and Haven who were sitting on either side of her.

"How about you Kurt?" She asked across the table to Nightcrawler.

[Nightcrawler]

"Ya Kitty, that is a good thing to be thankful for. I'm especially thankful for the acceptance I've found here." He looked to Shimmer sitting right next to him

"You think people look at you funny liebshen? You have no idea how I am treated at times. I think that I am thankful that enough of us have arrived that we may begin to eat before the food goes cold as a stone?" He said as a question to Ms. Frost hoping she would relent and allow them to begin eating.

[Emma Frost]

Chuckling in the back of her throat Emma smiled as she said "Very well, I'm thankful for the patience everyone has shown and yes, let eat."

She looked around at everyone who had chosen to come and dine together and a warm feeling filled her to know that there was going to be many more good times ahead. She was a realist so she knew those good times would be fleeting and she wanted to enjoy this for all it was - a calm before the storm? She hoped the storm would wait until these children were ready for it, but rarely did the storm ever play fair.

[Colossus]

Sitting and watching everyone quietly he smiled wide. The people were beiginning to talk and socialize with each other. It was a happy day and his food that he cooked would not go to waste. He stood once more and began cutting more of the turkey. "OK, so who wants some turkey?" His deep voice bellowed out.

[Nightcrawler]

"Thought you would never ask!" Nightcrawler said with a twinkle of humor in his voice. "Ladies first of course." he looked to the young girls and smiled.

[Haven]

Used to fighting for food in most of the places she had lived Haven exclaimed "Yes! White meat please!!!" She didn't pick her plate up and hold it out to be served though, she looked like she was concentrating very hard.

[Fleet]

He had heard the word about dinner and ws showering after his workout on the basketball court. Drying off and getting changed. He slipped into a pair of jeans and a tank top. Walking towards the dorr. He didnt even bother reachign for the handle as a blue light flashed and he appeared in the dining room with everyone. " Well Happy thanksgiving fellow mutants." Grinning as he looked ot everyone. Seeing an empty seat he took a step but just disappeared and reappeared into the seat picking up a plate. "Hey Ill take some turkey."

[Haven]

Startled Haven lost her concentration. She had been trying to peel back her force field and with Jumper's sudden entrance she had lost her focus.

Her force field snapped back hard and pushed out as it did sending the table a few inches over and nudging Shadowkat into Aqua. The force of it pushed out in all directions and the chair under Haven snapped as it was crunched down into the floor. She tried to catch herself but fell right down hard on her butt landing with an "OOOoff!" inside the cushion of her forcefield, it hurt a little.
