Seeing Elixir come in k'8 recoiled a little from the plant and didn't really focus too much on Jenny or what she was saying. She stared at Sara and sent a look her way that said plainly for her to sit in her corner and not say a damn word. She was not gonna be teased for playing with babies and plants.
When Karma came over she glanced up for a second and then looked right back at Sara, like a rabid dog guarding a bone she was protecting herself, thinking that if anyone knew she was soft at all then all hell would break loose. "Yeah, playing nice." k'8 said softly, her eyes still burning the proverbial hole right through Sara.

"Oh, thanks" she said softly to Karma. Then, flashing another weak smile, she turned to K'8 and said even more softly, "You know, I'm not your enemy. Sure, I got annoyed with you earlier but that doesn't mean I want to fight you."

Jenny looked between the two of the girls for a moment with wide eyes. I wonder what happened? Maybe they had a fight? she thought for awhile before hugging her plant to her, protective of Ruby of all of sudden. She didn't want anything to happen to her new friend. Jenny walked over to Karma and placed Ruby in front of her. "Watch Ruby for me Karma, I think she would rather be with you now," she said stroking the flower once more before she went over and grabbed Roger from his chair.
She walked over to the girl cuddling Roger in her arms. "Do you want to meet Roger? He's my oldest friend," she asked the dark haired girl, thinking perhaps she would like Roger more than Ruby.

"You know you would so lose, I would hurt you bad." k'8 said to Sara. "No wonder you don't want to fight, so just leave me alone, and stop following me!" She said with authority.
Standing up she looked down at Jenny and took Roger in her arms. She cradled him for a moment snuggling her face into his fur, and letting herself be the little girl she wished she could be. He smelled like happiness and flowers. The moment was beautiful and she was free and then reality sunk it's fangs into her.
Handing Roger back to the adorable Jenny she said "Sorry, I don't play with plants or stuffed animals or babies." It hurt her to say it because the little girl was so sweet, but she didn't want to be teased here at this school and she decided to just put up a wall and keep everyone out.
K'8 looked into Jenny's eyes and her eyes held a profound sadness. She turned to leave and walked to the door.

"Going somewhere k'8?" Emma said as she walked into the room and Katie nearly walked right into her. "We were just looking for you." She said placing a hand on one of Katie's shoulders.
"Shadowkat tells me that you have made a discovery."

After relaying a more thorough version of what had happened in the kitchen and the discoveries made surrounding that area, Kitty then fell silently into step with Emma as they headed to the rec room. She could only guess what might happen next – a rescue mission, perhaps. Either way, by the time she and Emma had gotten to the rec room, none other than k’8 had collided into the headmistress. The girl was steadied and Kitty could see easily enough that sadness resided in her eyes and a bit in her facial expression, though she’d have most likely tried to hide it, though she didn’t quite know why it was there; what had happened maybe.
After Emma spoke, Kitty nodded. “Yes, we were looking for you. We wanted to talk about what had happened in the kitchen and then in the bathroom earlier, you know, with what we had found out from Fatty and Rat-Fiend,” she prompted, elaborating a bit on what the headmistress had said and then lowered her voice slightly since she had seen that little Jenny as well as Karma and Sara were further into the room, and wasn’t sure if they should hear as of yet, “About how we figured out where Nightcrawler is.”

Jenny's smile fell and she hugged Roger to her with her short pudgy arms as the girl walked away. "Oh... ok I'm sorry," she said quietly. I thought she wanted to be my friend... I didn't mean to do anything, she thought as she walked back over to Karma and sat down quietly by her feet. Jenny hugged Roger and settled him in her lap. "It's alright Roger, don't be sad. We'll always be best friends and mommy always said that not everyone is going to like you remember?" she said the the ragged yellow bunny.
She looked up when Ms. Frost came in and almost wanted to run up and hug her, but that girl that didn't like her was right next to her. Instead she opted to settle right next to Karma and hug Roger to make him feel better. "Karma, can we go soon? I'm hungry and I don't want to be here anymore," Jenny said quietly to her caretaker with big watery eyes.

Karma frowned deeply at Katie when she rejected the toy and handed it back to Jenny, how could someone be so cruel as to purposly hurt such a sweet girl as her. The two girls had been getting on so well before, but now... what had little Jenny done to deserve that kind of harsh treatment. Her mind clouded over slightly until she saw the small girl sit by her feet. Almost immediately, she placed a hand down on her shoulder and rubbed it lightly in a comforting mannor. No-one should be treated so harshly, least of all an innocent soul such as her.
"Don't worry Jenny." she whisppered comfortingly as she leaned her head down to her ear, her other hand stroking the top of her blonde head lightly. it almost brought tears to her own eyes when she saw her in such a state, the poor girl was only being friendly. "Come on, im sure we can get something sweet to eat in the kitchen, actually, we can go plant Ruby in the garden if you like, i have a crispy cake for you already if you like. Or we can go ristle something up in the kitchen, that usually has alot of stuff we can cook with doesnt it?" she crooned softly, standing herself up and holding a hand out toward her little charge, picking up the small pot plant as she went.

Kate's vicious response to her had not really angered Sara as much as it made her sad. She really did not want to be anybody's enemy. She had been taught her whole life that one should always see in others the face of G-d and treat everybody as practically family. Anger, as the rabbeim had told her, was the path to Gehenna (hell) and one should always strive to be like the great sage Hillel who the Midrash said was so wise that he never got angry. He did not even get angry when a gentile came to mock him saying to him sage, "Teach me the Torah while I stand on one foot and I will convert." While the hotheaded scholar, Shammai, facing the same taunt, had run the gentile off with his measuring stick, for Shammai was a builder, Hillel had stroked his beard and then gently replied, "That which is hateful, do not do to your brother. That is the whole of the Torah. The rest is commentary. Now go and study." The scoffer had been converted by these words and eventually became a religious Jew after many months of long study for a proper conversion.
But Sara was no Hillel. Having seen Kate's rude rebuff of the little girl, she was angry. She would have said something inappropriate to Kate had it not been for fear of upsetting the small child further. She would not have thought twice about how her words might have come across to Ms. Frost or to Shadowkat who had both entered the room. As it was she just glared at Kate with an icy hatred in her eyes. Then, putting on a warm smile, she turned to the small child and said, "It will be ok, honey, she's just had a hard day and didn't mean it, I'm sure. Your friends are really quite sweet. I'd love to play with you sometime."

The sound of Sara's voice behind her made k'8s skin crawl. She swallowed hard half expecting to be in trouble for what she had just done, she was used to being in trouble. She didn't like it or go out of her way to look for trouble, but it always found her and she was always blamed for everything.
"I, uh, huh? I'm not in trouble?" she was actually confused about the whole meeting and bumping into Miss Frost and Shadowkat like she did. "OH! Oh yeah, Fatty and Rat-Fiend. Yeah, Miss Frost, me and Shadowkat found out that Nightcrawler might be in LIMBO where my demons come from. Well, they said they come from LIMBO." She rattled off nervously.

"Thank you Karma." Emma said as she watched Xi'an lead her young charge out for a snack. "Jenny" she said softly to catch the young girls attention and she smiled and winked at her warmly. "Sara, please remain here."
Looking over her shoulder at Shadowkat then back at D'mnchyld and then Sara she said "Let's all have a seat. Katie, turn off the T.V. please."
Emma walked over to take a seat on the couch and settled herself onto the plush sofa. Her face suddenly twisted up and she leaned forward reaching behind her in between the cushions pulling out a half crushed soda pop can. "Alright, it's time for some rules around here I think." She placed the can on the table and sat back again crossing her legs and waiting for the others to settle into their seats.

Nervously, Sara, sat down in a chair facing the Headmistress. This was going to be a problem. Shadowkat was here and had probably already told Ms. Frost about Amos and given Shadowkat's earlier reaction it was obvious that the teacher did not like Sara's golem and more importantly did not think of him as a person on par with everybody else. Shadowkat had clearly told Sara that if the golem made any trouble he had to go, as if he could just be discarded as a nuisance thing with less care then one would deal with a pet dog. Just thinking about it made Sara annoyed, and for the second time that hour, angry, something of which her rabbeim would never approve. Then again, she tought sarcastically, they approved of her so much already. She almost had to stiffle a laugh as that thought popped into her head. No, she had to defend Amos at all costs. She had to make sure that Ms. Frost saw him as what he was, a defenseless child who needed to be nurtured and cared for just like the little girl Sara had met in the rec room today with her small bunny and her flower. Somehow Sara was not convinced that she would be able to convince the Headmistress of this fact. And if she failed, she shuddered noticeably at the thought, then Amos might not live, especially as she had no way to procure 90 pounds of food for him a day, something the book in the library said that a growing bear needs.

Kitty heard briefly the words passed between k’8 and Sara, and sighed slightly, seeing that little had changed from earlier, even when she had seen k’8 so scared and seemingly even humbled. She saw that Karma led adorable little Jenny away from the rec room since she no longer looked like her happy self. She leaned against the door frame until Emma prompted for the two remaining students and herself to come in and sit down.
She walked in and saw Emma pull out a soda can and shook her head with a tiny smile. Kids would never change, would they? Either way, she took a seat on an empty spot of the same couch and waited as well for k'8 to come sit, seeing that Sara had followed. Listening to what the headmistress started with, she nodded slightly, being of the same opinion considering what had happened back in the kitchen and everything, and what she had been too late to prevent from happening.

Jenny hugged Roger to one side and gripped Karma's hand with the others. She stood up and Karma lead her away to the door. She liked Ms. Frost and didn't mind staying. "Can we get Roger some hot chocolate? It makes him feel better," she said looking up at Karma with her big watery blue eyes. I'm not a little baby. I'm not going to cry. I'm a big girl and I got to make Roger feel better. She hid her face in Roger and peeked at the other girl who offered to play. She seems nice too... I hope she means it though, Roger would feel bad if someone else didn't like him... "Roger is tired and a little hungry but we can play later if you want," Jenny said quietly and hugged her friend to her side as she walked with Karma, staying close to her.
She peeked out at Ms. Frost and managed a small smile, blinking back her watery eyes. I hope I don't get that girl in trouble. It's not her fault I bothered her, she thought clutching her yellow bunny Roger as Karma took her away.

"That would be lovely," Sara said to Jenny, a sincere smile breaking across her lips as the little girl jolted her away from her worries about Amos. Also a thought occurred to her. It seemed that the teacher with the little girl cared about what happened to Roger, the stuffed rabbit as Roger was alive. Maybe that teacher could understand that Amos was essentially just a much larger version of Roger. Maybe if she could enlist that teacher's help she could convince the school to take care of Amos and maybe even let him stay with the other young children when Sara was in class. But then in the back of her head another thought came, telling her to stop dreaming...before that happened she might as well hope to be welcomed back to Crown Heights with open arms. Her smile faded slightly before she caught herself and brightened up a bit again to make sure that the little girl didn't think that she would turn the rabbit away like Kate had.
