The castle they saw loomed closer and closer yet till it was near enough to call for silence, and that's what Shadowkat did after hearing Diesel's question. Looking to him, she nodded and waved a hand for them to stop walking as they finally approached their destination; the area was still clear even though the sound of demons coming toward them from a not-as-far distance was in earshot. It seems empty enough out here, but I know there has to be demons in that castle, they're not completely stupid, she thought as she took a few more steps ahead.
'Stay there,' she mouthed to her students as she came closer to the castle wall closest to her, and phased the top half of herself through while holding her breath to see how many demons were guarding the front door. There was four of them, two small green ones and two big red ones, and they were each smacking themselves around out of what had to be boredom. She smirked slightly and came out of the wall, letting out the breath she held. The castle might be a little easier if it's that lightly guarded, but I bet those ones heading at us are reinforcements, or just here for the fun.
Motioning for her students to continue staying where they were, she moved the short distance to one corner of the castle they had come in on, and looked down. That coast was clear, but not for much longer. Cackling, snickering, and squealing demon sounds came into better hearing as Shadowkat looked up one of the sandy hills near them as she moved stealthily back to her students. "Ready yourselves, guys, they moved fast," she said in a low voice as one medium sized orange demon with a jagged sword came forward, jumping over the edge of the hill at them, followed by three other smaller demons, each with four eyes and sharp teeth dripping with saliva from being enticed by the smell of humans. The three smaller ones went straight for the students, and the big one went after the team leader, who dodged the swing of the jagged sword and drove a swift kick to the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and incapacitating him for a second. She then swung a punch to the side of his mangled face, making him drop the sword, which she quickly picked up.
Meanwhile, the demons just behind the door to the castle heard the familiar laughter and screams of fellow demons and came out to see what was going on. They, too, giggled and then ran at the group to join in on the fun.

"This is what you call sneakin' in !?! Damn, I think we'd be better off - *OOOF!*" Haven said as she rushed forward to meet the approaching onslaught of baddies. As she clotheslined the first the other two jumped on her. She'd be fine though, her forcefield could withstand far more than they could dish out, but their speed had surprised her and they took her off her feet- caught her off guard too.
'Not time for games, these crackheads mean business! Gotta put some of the training the Brotherhood gave me into practice.' She was thinking as she felt them clawing and scrambling around on the outside of her forcefield. Looking past them she saw behind Diesel and noticed the ones coming out of the castle. "Behind you! I got these ones here!" she yelled as she nodded in the direction of the approaching critters to give Ian a heads up.
'Time to make some pudding.' she thought as she brought her arms around wide. Her forcefield, acting like the impervious shell it was, gave her an immense amount of crushing power. It was as if she slammed two anvils together on opposite sides of one of the demons heads. It popped like a pimple, ick and goo went flying everywhere. The other two looked at each other not sure how to deal with the current situation as Haven stood, her shell of power covered in the blood of their brother, and said "Boo!"
As they turned to run she made her hands flat like blades and swiped the tips of her forcefield cover hands at the back of their necks, snapping their spines. She looked to see how well Diesel could handle himself. It wasn't a fair contest to be sure, she had been taught how to do that by stone cold killers and now when the moment arrived for her to kill, she didn't flinch from it. They were only demons though, so she wondered if it really counted as killing.

One of the demons recoiling from the blows of Haven's forcefield was able to slip on past and started heading directly for Sara, snarling and spitting as it came towards her. The spit was highly acidic, touching Sara's arm and burning with an intensity that almost made her yelp in pain, but surprisingly she didn't scream. Rather, she froze. She froze out of fear and did absolutely NOTHING. The confused demon, having already faced an attack from an unseen enemy, Haven's forcefield, stopped. It seemed to have a quizzical expression on its deformed face, as if it was wondering what terrible fate was going to be unleashed on it. As Sara looked at it she thought, "Now I have to do something. While it's standing there I have to do something, but what?"
Well she couldn't tackle it. It's teeth would rip her to shreds. She couldn't blugeon it as she had forgotten to pick up a rock or anything her angst. She had no power that could be used offensively agains it. There would be no use in trying to run away from it as she would soon be separated from her classmates and teacher with a trail of demons following her.
Then it hit her. Demonology! She'd studied demonology in seminary and had always found it fascinating if not somewhat fanciful. So takig a deep breat she started to pray at it loudly the prayers for driving off demons. She started with the Sh'ma, the declaration of the central tenant of Jewish faith that all Jews are required to pray at least twice a day. "Sh'ma Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Ehad" she said calmly and loudly to the demon (Hear O'Israel the LORD is Our G-d, the LORD is One). Then she continued with a specific prayer against demons. Translated into English what she said translated as roughly, "In the Name of G-d, the King of Hosts, I command you to leave the children of Israel for Hashem will strike you a great blow."
At this the demon started trembling, just as she had learned it would in seminary and in a harsh, screachy voice it stated "One." Without missing a beat Sara responded "You and I are two" as she remembered a teaching from her rabbis that demons will try to count in odd numbers to exert power over you and that once a famous rabbi had, had to count to 1,000 before the demon exploded. The demon came right back "You and I and he are three" as another demon came out from behind him, and only then did Sara understand. When the rabbi added a number he was counting Hashem's angels who came to protect him.
For a moment she almost panicked. Would the angels come for her? She had sinned so gravely. As she hesitated the now two demons moved towards her rapidly, almost reaching her before she shouted, "You and I and Uriel are four," picking at random one the four archangels supposed to guard every Jew, without remembering that he was the angel who guards from behind, not the one who guards from in front. Still, it seemed to work as the demons retreated, with their leader calling, "You and I and the angels and the demons are five." So it continued for a few minutes, before they reached 301, at which point the lead demon exploded, and the other demons howling in fear ran away, one of them dropping a small sword which Sara picked up to keep for protection.
As the demons left, she smiled weakly and thanked Hashem for delivering her and offerred a prayer that he save them all. Then she called out to Haven, "I'll be right over to help" and rushed over to confront some of the other demons, brandishing the sword and with words of prayer on her lips.

Ian's eyes were fiercely set the seconds he saw the demons, not even surprised or shocked at this point. Here's a way to get my frustrations out, he thought as he bum rushed the largest demon behind him. Ian punched him with a good deal of force. Theses dudes aren't as strong as I thought, he said in his head as he shot his fists out, punching two of the demons hard enough that his fist went right through their stomachs, as they clawed deeply into his arm before shuddering and falling on the ground. He spied Haven, who was handling herself pretty well. Ian went for the biggest demons tackling them right in the stomach. Their rough skin cut up his own and their claws raked his arms and stomach. "Aw no ugly ass, you ain't that tough," he said before punching him so hard in his head that it literally flew right off.
Ian was pissed. He had a long day and for the first time in his life went through a whole day being for the most part pissed off. First we found that stuff in the woods... damnit Spitfire shouldn't have had to go through any of that. Not her. Cold or not, you know that she's a good person and she did everything she could to save us that day, he thought as he got his frustrations over that whole thing on the larger demon with a sword. Little good that thing did it since Ian ripped his whole hand off and began punching it like nothing else. It was dead no long after Ian split his neck open with it's own sharp claw. The demons spoke to each other in some weird gurgling language, but over that he still heard something that shouted like a prayer of some sort. He looked over quickly and saw it came from Elixir. Yea that's it she's loony tunes. Demons are coming at her and she prays. That's cool and all if we're auditioning for Deliverance or something, but praying at Demons in hell is as good as trying to keep ice cream cold over an open flame, he thought with a roll of his eyes as he rushed at another demon that was head toward Elixir while the other one was looking at her confused. A smaller one jumped on Ian';s back and dug his claws and teeth into his skin. "Argh, you shits are worse than mosquitoes man," he said as he grabbed the demon off his back and used it to whack another one. While Elixir sat their praying, Ian kept the other demons from coming at her, since they usually go for the most vulnerable target. Ian ripped at them, trying to focus his anger, on beating the demons to death, but it was hard since Elixir was now a target. But Haven took a load off him, since she got a good number of the demons on her own. No wonder her and Spitfire are best buds, they're both kick ass chicks, He thought as he went on to grab the rest of the demons, sometimes using the smaller demons against the others. Elixir was still shout at one who just made an odd grunting noise in response. This day just gets longer, he thought as he flung one demon right into another.

Shadowkat moved agilely as she watched her students take action, Haven used her forcefield to her advantage, Diesel used his strength and brute force to smash and break demons apart, and looked quickly to Elixir, who was seeming to get into some sort of prayer contest with one, although one came up behind her. It was the one that she saw get away from Haven while she was taking care of the other ones, and so the team leader moved to her charge, expertly swinging the jagged sword at the skinny demon that planned to take on Elixir from behind.
Aiming for the long exposed neck, she swung it clean off, though the force of it threw the head off to the side, letting it bounce slightly as the decapitated body fell to the ground, spurting puke colored blood from the neck, puddling after the sand could absorb no more of it. The head rolled and lightly bumped Elixir's leg, only to roll a few feet away. "Come on," she said to the girl, who seemed to be dealing with some religious issues. I see she has issues with her religion, but now is not the best time for that. We have to get in that castle, she thought.
Her eyes fluttered around again to the scene around her, she saw that the biggest demon she had knocked out was coming to, and with the sword in her hand, she started toward him, because she saw that he was pissed off now, especially because he didn't have his weapon anymore, and moved quickly to be ready to deflect anything he might do since he was heading towards them all.

"What a weirdo you are. I don't need any of your help little miss pray till somebody comes along and lops off the scary demon's head." Haven said to Elixir after she watched what had happened. Niki couldn't believe it actually, she had done what she'd been shown and gotten two out of the three of them. Not bad for a novice, her first time killing with her power, first time killing period for all she knew. She liked to think she'd taken the life of the scumbag in that alley back when she ran away from her second group home, but she couldn't know for sure so she didn't really count that one.
What she did know was she missed the one skinny demon slightly and it had gotten past her to charge up on Sara. Worse things could have happened but the girl dropped to her knees and started to mumble and it seemed to confuse the little bastard demon for a second. Just enough time for kitty to scramble up and chop off it's head with a heee-uge jagged sword. 'Sweet !' Haven had thought as the head bounced on the ashen ground and rolled up onto Elixir's lap.
It must have caused the girl to snap because she started to count and didn't stop until she reached three hundred or so. Then she smiled a goofy smile, picked up a handful of sand, and looking determined rushed over offering to help.
"You are silly you could have got freakin' killed just then. What was that!?! A prayer and counting to three hundred for stress relief?" At that Niki noticed the big demon, who Kitty had taken the sword from, starting to get to it's feet. She yelled to Elixir "Stay put and try not to get in the way! Prayer in hell, you are whacked- that's like spitting on a forest fire! Good luck with that."
Haven took off running at the large demon as it got to it's feet. It started to lumber at the small group of mutants. Tucking into a ball Niki dove forward and rolled at his legs, knocking him staggering off to the side. His course sent him dangerously nearer to Diesel than the girls, but dangerous for who was the question.

I gotta remember to give Haven major props after this. That girl really does kick ass, Ian thought just as the large demon staggered in front of them. Ian immediately lunged at the demon right at his spiky scaly waist, knocking him to the ground with the brute force. The scales pierced into his skin, blood spilling out of the punctured wounds. "Ahhh- ain't you dudes here of lotion around here?" he said at the touch of their skin. The demon regained his composure and slashed at Ian's chest, leaving a deep long gash and ripping his shirt. "Aw come on man, that ain't nice," he heaved before pulling back and hit him with a mean right hook so hard he flew in the air a bit and landed on the ground.
Ian paused a minute to catch his breath as the blood ran down his chest and oozed from his arms. "Elixir, don't go wacko on us again and stay back. Kitty teach, I'll hold it down and you stab his ass with that sword," he wheezed before he got up and jumped on top of the demon. Ian ignored the pain that shot through his body as he wrestled with the large demon, trying to pin it to the ground. Thank god this dude is still out of it from that hit. I would never win at this state, he thought as the blood gushed out of his wounds. "Kitty Teach Hurry!" he called trying to keep the thing on the ground. He felt like he was gonna collapse at any minute.

Grunting in anger after seeing that the biggest demon went around her to get to Diesel, Shadowkat watched the tough Acolyte get ripped up some by him while he tried to hold him down. He was bleeding a lot, and she ran faster the short distance to where he was calling for her. "Hold on Diesel!" she yelled back, raising the jagged sword to turn the demon's attention away from him. She moved to Diesel and took hold of an unharmed part of his arm, phasing both herself and him. In that instance where the demon could again move, he jumped up and slashed at the intangible student, but only slashing through air.
"Come on you big ugly," she jeered as she let go of Diesel's arm, letting him become tangible again while she drew the demon's attention to her so that her charge could heal up. She herself stayed phased as she let the demon lunge at her only to find his scaly hand and arms went right through her, though she moved defensively so she could unphase. Leaping to one side and spinning behind the nasty demon, she unphased and lunged with the sword, running him through, but he was tougher than that.
It stopped him for a second, and then with a roar of pain he swung an arm out at her to hit her head, she instinctively phased again and pulled out the sword that was still clutched in her hand. Catching the demon by surprise, she took the opportunity to give the sword a powerful swing aimed at the neck, and although it didn't decapitate him because his neck was far too thick, the jagged blade cut deep enough to leave a large slash on his neck. She yanked the sword out, and flash-phased as he tried to thwack her again before grabbing his neck, trying to stop the gushing blood from the jugular. However, he couldn't stop it, and he dropped to the ground with his purple blood sinking into the sand around him.
Shadowkat watched a second more to make sure he was going to stay like that, and he did thankfully. Still on her guard, she looked around quickly to see if there were any more demons coming at them, and weirdly, all was quiet now. That's odd, only a few of them came after us. The others have to be here, and I bet there's plenty of demons after them, however many of others of us there are. I hope they're okay, but I have to watch these three, she thought as she took a breath and looked at her students. They seemed alright, at least Haven and Elixir did, although Diesel looked quite bloody and slashed up. Waving the other two closer as she went over to him, she looked at him. "Are you alright? You looked like you were about to drop that second," she said in a concerned voice, even though she knew he'd heal quick enough.
Looking from him to her two girls, she tilted her head to the castle. "We'll have to go in there. It looks like these are the only demons to welcome us, but I'm not complaining. We'll take a minute to recuperate and then we'll go in, alright guys?"

Haven gently nudged Elixir from behind using her forcefield. "C'mon lets go." She slogged her way through the sinky sifting sand beneath her feet. Her forcefield was not meant for this, but she wasn't a complainer, a bitch yes, a pain in the ass at times as well, but not a complainer.
"He looks like crap." she said as she got up on Diesel and Shadowkat's position. "How you feelin' stud?" she asked him. She had made sure to whisper and was looking around them in all areas to stay alert and on her guard.
''Now what? I guess we're going to drag him into this castle with us and leave a bloody trail? That won't be too obvious." she stared down at Ian and her heart hurt a little for the guy, she felt bad that he was in pain. It was a weird sensation, she had hardly ever felt like that before. "Oh, and don't forget all these dead demons littered about, the neighbors are sure to complain. Hey Sarge, why don't you phase them underground? If we get back home ever then maybe you can go into the undertaker business." Mumbling under her breath she added "You're just creepy-dork enough to fit in."

Ian had rolled off once Kitty had taken over, feeling really disoriented. He felt some of the smaller scratches start to heal slowly. His shirt was torn apart from those demons claws and skin. Man those things are right up there with mosquitoes, he thought as he tried to sit up a bit. He was slowly regaining focus and gave Haven a lazy grin. "I'll be alright. Just gotta give me a moment to heal up. Once I got those painful ones over with, I should be good," Ian said and grimaced as he struggled to his feet.
"Man, I wish those dudes used lotion once in awhile. Their skin was drier than British humor. Not cool," Ian said as he trudged over to a big rock where he wanted to just plop down and rest. Painfully, he took his ripped shirt off, balled it up and pressed it against the deep wounds on his stomach that were bleeding the most. "This should stop some blood trails," he wheezed. Just gotta sit down for a minute and heal up a bit, then I'll be chill, he thought as he got closer to the rock.

Feeling Haven push her from behind with her forcefield, Elixir stumbled forward, regained her balance, and said "I'm coming...don't worry...Thanks." As she looked back at Haven she also noticed Diesel standing over to the side, with his shirt torn to shreds and bleeding. She heard him say that he would be alright but needed a second before he could catch up. His wounds, however, looked like they would need more than that. At the very least they would need to be cleaned and properly bandaged. Sara had learned a little bit about treating wounds when she had been in seminary in Israel as one summer she volunteered with Mogan David Adom, the Israeli volunteer ambulance service. So she said to Diesel, "If you want, I can dress your wounds for you. I learned a little bit about it in Israel volunteering with ambulances." "We can tear up my sweater to make bandages," she said, pointing to the small sweater she still had tied around her waist, that had somehow remained firmly in place since they were sucked into Limbo from the laboratory.

"Yes, I can do that," Shadowkat murmured in response to Haven's suggestion. She could see that no more demons were coming at them, but it gave no reason to leave behind a mess when it could give them more trouble should they leave a trail. Going to each demon corpse, she put a gloved hand on the differently textured and somewhat bloody skins of each, she phased herself and the bodies so that they were a few feet below ground. Throughout the whole process, she remained phased as she went to every one of them and put them under. When she finished, she solidified and then went to kick around some of the bloody sand with fresh sand to cover up most of the blood. Wiping her hands as she came back to her three students, she heard Elixir offer to help with Diesel's wounds.
A small smile showed itself on the team leader's face for a second as she saw her charge offer help to another despite the internal conflict she saw her have just before. "That's a good idea, Elixir. He'll heal faster if there's something covering the wound so that he stops bleeding, and less chance of some sort of infection from around here," she said, looking around the area they just fought in. "If it's alright with you Diesel, then Elixir, you can dress his wounds," she said.

Seeing that Ian was healed enough and Kitty had "buried" the demons Niki wondered what was going to happen. Then a strange sensation came upon her, as it must have everyone else if she could feel it through her forcefield. The hairs on her arms and neck and then head began to stand up. The sky changed from red to black clouds to a bright blue purple. Then the area of the sky directly above the center of the castle erupted in lightning that shot down. In the center of the cascade Haven could see what looked to be three people coming down with the lightning "Looks like somebody's Home. Let's get in there quick! You know there's always lots of fuss when somebody first gets home. C'mon, we can slip in unnoticed!" she waved her arms. This was how she wound up staying in some places she learned from all the years she was a runaway. She'd slip in and live for a couple of nights in the stairs of a high-rise, or the boiler rooms too.

Just as Ian told Elixir "Hey yea that would be cool. It will stop the bleeding and I'll heal up soon enough," is when his whole body tensed as the sky turned purple and these insane lightning bolts just went down on them. "Holy Shit!" Ian exclaimed his wounds forgotten as he looked with wide eyes at the sky. Whoa that's way knarly! Was that people that came down with the lightning? Man this is like I'm in a weird video game, he thought for a moment. Ian stared blankly at the scene, not paying attention as his wounds slowly knitted closed and the bleeding from his chest gradually stopped.
"Yea we gotta see what that was. Was there people that came down too or did the lighting make me all trippy?" he asked rubbing his head. Ian turned to Elixir and gave her a small grin. "Babe, my chest can wait, the bleeding stopped. We gotta get in there while we can. When we get a moment you think you can patch up anything thats still bleeding?" he asked as he turned toward the castle. "Let's go everyone!" Ian called as he went over to Haven, ignoring the pain in his chest. If he could survive having his guts spilled by Sabretooth, he'll deal with the pain as he heals over.

"I'm sure you are right that we should be going. Those lightening bolts are more intense than anything I've seen on earth...they're surreal. And with nothing here but flatness we're sure to get hit if we just stand here. Still, I don't like the idea of you going anywhere with those wounds completely unbandaged. How about I throw a quick bandage on now and I'll redo it once we are safely settled down?", Sara said concernedly, adding in her head only the sarcastic words, whenever that might be. As she spoke Sara took the sweater from around her waist and quickly started to tear it into strands, a process that took all of her strength so that her words were punctuated with little grunts of effort.
