Kevin was excited and happy. He was also late, but only a little bit for the workout with Deisel. They were going to lift just a bit and then sparr. Kevin could'nt wait, and he had said it might be fun to have the rest of the team there to workout too, but he knew Ian liked things to be serious when it was a workout and he woried some of the girls might goof off.
It wasn't a team practice or anything, but just for fun and to stay sharp was what Diesel said. Kevin came running in all girnning and clean handed, because he washed with the anti bactereal sope like three times after he put the bucket and scrub brush away. "Hey sorry I'm late but I warmed up by scrub- uh, I warmed up already."

Ian was in the middle of a set of squats with those digitally altered weights that he could make as heavy or light as he pleased. "Hey, I was wondering if you'd show," he said letting out a slight breath before making the weights lighter and setting them down. He grabbed the towel to wipe the sweat that formed on his brow and sat down on the bench, taking a sip of the water. "You sorta ran out at breakfast without a word. You alright and all?" Ian wiped the water bottle and let it dangle from his hand, looking up at his friend.
"B'fore I forget bro, Monday we're gonna have a team practice, cause I wanna get to know that Jocelyn chick a bit better when she gets back," he said with a bit of a smile. Ian liked her from the second she met her and she seemed like a lot of fun. "I been reading up on Atlanteans and stuff from one of Ivy's books, and they are like...whoa powerful. I'm wondering what this girl can do, cause its some insane stuff in there." He shook his head with wide eyes, remembering all the stuff he read about Atlanteans. They were definitely a race of people that he didn't want to mess with. Ever.

"I'm Ok. I just did'nt like how evey body was talking about Forstbite so I hadda go. I know you and her were cool for a while and even after she got all wierd about stuf because of Niki and you, well we all still was her friend. It sucks that she turned on all of us and left the team and all, but I think now it's for the best."
He did some light stretches as he talked and made sure to start off smart. Grabbing the cabels and doing the chest cable crosses was what he started on. He did'nt bother to count as his first set was light and he was going to fateige so to get alot of blood flushing into his chest muscles. Plus this was good so he could lift and keep talking, which he pumped the weight in a quick way and spoke fast to work on his cardio also.
"So I think I can talk to you because you and me are tight and I know you want to know why I left you without a workout partner, but dont tell anybody please. I had to go and clean up the halls. It might have been kind of weak or gross but I just didn't want her to have to clean it up herself, that would just suck." His breath was getting labered and he kept going anyway, he loved to feel the workout start to burn and get his muscles feel plumped up. "I wish she snaps out of whatever she is doing, I think she is lost. Trying her self or somthing like to be a totally diferent person, maybe because she hates herself? I dont know but it might be that."
"But I'm ready for monday, sure thing! Is it's cool with Collosus? He said it? Or are you gonna ask him? Or are we keepin it on the DL?" His arms were getting to the point that they would'nt cross anymore and they were getting hard to keep in propper form, but he tryed his best and keep going. "I'll be there whatever so yea! Splice is reeally pretty and such a cool blue, I want to see what she can do too. With her on the team were gonna be the best team around, if what they say about The Atlantish is true. Wonder wat Niki thinks about her being back and on our team, she mention her?"

"Na Niki don't seem to like her all that much. Don't matter to me, I like Jocelyn a lot, she's a lot of fun. And after getting Katana, she's like a damn dream," Ian said shrugging a bit and sitting back to take a breather from the workout. He had really gotten into it in the beginning and could afford a break for a couple of minutes. "She's fun and a hot blue babe, and I can't wait to see what she could do. Niki I think will get over it, and if not oh well, what am I gonna say to her?" He laughed a little knowing how his girl was with people. She was stubborn as a mule and hard as nails, and there was no changing that.
'I'll ask Colossus about it later, but he should be cool with it. We really gotta get our team back together. I woulda asked for it this weekend, but Jocelyn went camping with the older people, so we can wait till Monday. She probably missed them and all and wants to catch up. I'm cool with that, I get it," Ian said taking another sip of water. "But yea bro, we got some work to do, we haven't had it together in awhile, and Frostbite got the blame on that. I know ya still care 'bout her bro, and hey I did too, I still kinda do. But ya know." He leaned forward and rested his forearm on his thighs. "I kinda learned from Niki that people that don't want my friendship don't deserve it ya know? I mean I know I'm a bit pushy and all when I wanna be, like that's how it started out with me and Spitfire." A smile came on his face remembering what it was like when he first met her. "She couldn't stand me when we first met, and well you know I come there and see that total babe, well ya can't blame me for buggin' her a bit. Guess it started out as a little crush kinda thing, but then I came to just respect her you know? And I think she warmed up to me. She hasn't threatened to set me on fire in months," Ian said proudly with a big grin on his face like he just won a prize.
"Anyways though, my point is that I can't let myself be bothered with Frostbite no more. It could sound a little cold and all, but she f@$%ed with my life enough and we only dated for like four days. She got herself to where she is, and thats her deal. I don't want nothin' to do with her, and I'm glad that she ain't on the team no more." He shrugged and looked over at Kevin, almost expecting to see a slightly disappointed look on his face. "Its one thing that she threw a fit with me telling her that I got caught up in the moment when I kissed Niki that one time, but damnit she turned her back on us, and by helping Rumble she turned her back on Spitfire too, who even you told me all those times that if it weren't for her you both woulda died in Limbo. I ain't gonna forgive that, and I don't wanna associate with anyone like that, not now or ever." Ian made his point and was not budging on it. Actually he was proud of himself for it, it was a resolution he had spent most of the workout thinking about, remembering his girl's words on the subject and hell his own feelings on it and for once he was sure that the road that was a bit more negative was actually the best place for him to go.

After the practice he had the night before and all the tests in the lab earlier than that Kyle thought he should get at least some stretching in and maybe ride a stationary bike for a little while. He was going to try to follow the medical orders he had been given by Beast, but laying back never was his style. He was actually hoping to catch the Doctor in his lab but he wasn't so he just walked somewhat gingerly into the gym. When he saw Diesel and heard what you had just said.
His hand twitched trying hard to not reach for his dial and crank himself up in case there would be trouble. Stopping himself from reaching was hard and he instead ran his hand through his hair, almost. He stopped himself again. Standing there in the doorway barely able to walk and his arm jerking back and forth from going this way first then up but not he knew he musta looked stupid or like was doing a robot dance.
It was good the Doc's medicine was helping him ot heal because it was helping his eye too from where Diesel hit him with it in art class. Forcing it all aside he walked in and past the two and over to the floor mats while he laughed at them both on the inside. He didn't care if they said anything to him, he could always dial up in time. Even though it might hurt him. He almost hoped Diesel would take another cheap shot at him like the coward he always knew he was. Fleet was not a coward, after the practice last night he was a changed man. He wished he felt better because he would teach the two Acolytes a lesson. Paragons rule this school.

"Yea's funny the way she talked about it you woulda have thoght you guys were going out for like a couple of years." He went to the rack of weights and moved the pin down to add weight and then he streched his chest out grabbing onto the squared metal posts of the cable machine and twisting to stretch. "It blew my mind that day she went to help that Rumble guy. I meen she and Ember were never tight or anything, but she knows she and me would been so dead with out her, and it made me sick in my gut when she chose to side with him and now I feel all gross and sqwemish inside thinking about her and him doing the nasty so much she was bleed- Uh, is he lissening to us?" Kevin said looking over at Jumper, now with his new name Fleet it was not any cooler of a name but at least it wasn't some bad movie title even though Hayden Christenson was hot.
"I'm excited thow because yes, we do need to get some stuff done. Speeking of that, two more sets then we spar?" He smiled at Ian. It was so great that he was wiling to be teaching some fighting to the kid who nobody ever thought much of. Things had changed alots from the times before they went to Limbo and Kevin wanted to keep going for it in his life, and learning to take care of himself was just another step on the way. "Sound good? I know you have to go do some stuff with Collossus soon enuogh right?"

Ian looked back to see Jumpdick at the door and shrugged, choosing to ignore him. He had nothing to say to the guy now, and nothing worth saying for the future. He didn't associate with cowards that run away from their problems, and he wasn't in the mood. "Yea I'm waiting on you little buddy. I'll show you a move Eric showed me at home. He's got like a black belt in jujitsu, and showed me some crazy moves. And it'll be cool for you cause you can take down a dude of any size with that," he said with a grin. He had to admire Kevin for trying so hard to better himself and make up what he lacked in size for skill.
"Colossus is at some meeting though, and then when I went out there I saw Riker with that new Kat chick in the garden, and no way am I stickin' around for that." Ian laughed knowing Riker's reputation with the girls, and how all of them at one point or another fawned over him. "You know what, I actually think that he's sprung on this one. Never saw him pay so much attention to one chick before, and its like twilight zone," he joked, shaking his head at the irony of the wolf going for the 'Wild Kat'.

"Oh my God! No WAY!" Kevin laughed as he blasted his chest with a heavy second set and thoght better of doing anything more after this one because he would'nt be able to keep his hands up and protect himself. There was always after the sparring for him to lift some more and if the rest of the team showed themselfs then he could use one or two of them to spot for him. He thoght maybe that Haven would have come down already and was'nt sure if he should say much more about the team, at leest not without her there and expecially not in front of Kyle, so he was glad of the change of subjects to Riff-Raff.
"Aww, well so ends the reighn of the King of all Players. But hey it mustave been fun for him while it lasted. Too bad I could never turn his head, he's way too into girls for that but I sure wanted- oh nevermind, I know you probably dont wanta talk about that. But he is," he stoped himself from saying how dog-gone cute Riker was, he did'nt think Deisle would apreceate that in the leest. "well she is a lucky girl I think."
He did think, and he thoght about what Riker had said. About how he could never be pined down, and how it was'nt his way. He also thoght about the strange little comment that Kevin should become a girl. Was that his way of saying it might happen if- naah he said he did'nt understand- but he was the one that brought it up. I wonder what it might be like. I mean I like being a boi and all, but if it would get me a guy like him? Mabey it would be worth looking into at least? I know I like my body how it is, but mabey I would like my body better if- it's not like girls can't be strong, and tough- look at Niki and Aideen they are ass kickers, oh and SheHulk too. Mabey I should ask Ms.Frost, or Dr.Beast?
"Ok I think that's enough for now. I'm ready. If I lift to much then I'll be no good for fighting." he smiled and let the weight down easy. He hated when people let it slam down like that. It did'nt make hem look tuff or any thing like that, it made them look like jerks. He thoght Kyle would let the weight slam, in fackt he knew he would, he was sure he would. He nodded for Ian to lead the way over to the matts and he followed, he was totally excited to learn what he could.

Way too rough a landing, Coffee thought as he tumbled out of a tall mirror at the end of the exercise room. Been a while though. Need more practice. It was his first mirror jump since arriving at the Institute. Rubbing his sore butt with one paw, he shook all over like a leaf for a few moments to fluff out his fur, and then sat up with a friendly grin as he saw the students, Diesel, Hardlight, and another boy who he didn't recognize. Hopping to his feet he waived hello and bounded over to them to see if he could join the work out. A good workout is exactly what I need right now!
Inside the mirror his balance had been all wrong. He should have been able to glide gently down to from one mirror to the other. Instead when he unfurled his cape and tried to ride the wind he was buffeted with turbulence and even fell a couple times, having to grab at strange mirrors on his way. He could very easily have wound up falling into one of those mirrors and popping out in an old lady's bathroom or an alternate dimension. The problem, he thought gravely, is that I'm not flexible enough anymore...well that and not enough lift...got to bound more. He hopped up and down a few times in place as he thought it, stretching out his bounding muscles. It felt good.
Looking around again at the faces of the students he tapped out a little bit of code on the floor. Nothing complicated, really, just a simple "Hi. Can I?" He was sure that at least Diesel had heard it enough times before to know that it meant he wanted to join in. If the code didn't make it clear that Coffee wanted to do so, the expectant look on his face would clear up any confusion.

Niki had walked in just in time to see the graceful landing of the mutated rabbit as he plopped down hard and stood leaning against the door frame for a minute to see what the strange little jester would do. "Tapping again?" she strode past the rabbit to see her two boys as they looked about ready to get to the fighting. "Isn't Rogue supposed to teach that flea bag how to talk or somethin? Damn he doesn't even make an effort, but she doesn't really either. I never see her around, no wonder the thing can't talk yet."
She wanted to check in with Ian about his schedule and when to meet up for surfing, she didn't know when since he had the punishment with their team leader in the garden. She figured it wouldn't be too awful since Colossus liked Ian very much, and she couldn't imagine it being some dreg-fest of sweat and grime. It would probably be pretty cool actually and she thought she might go up into the observation tower and spy on her lover as he 'frolicked in the garden'. She snuffled up a giggle as she thought of Diesel and what his version of frolicking might be.
"Sparring huh?" She coughed out. "Is this what you were all buggin about Kev?" She reached over and tousled Hardlight's hair. "He was so excited Ian." she let the words blend into a kiss as she leaned her body against her man's and found his mouth with her own. "MMmm I might just be gettin excited myself! But, I know Papi, not in front of the kid and the rat-thing over there... oh and Coffee too."
Standing back away as she knew she was breaking Ian's concentration she smiled at her guys. There was little doubt the Acolytes were a tight group, made all the more tighter now that Frostbite was gone. Yet with the new additions of Katana and some loud ass blue 'retread' as Niki had called Splice, they were not completely comfortable... at least Haven was not, and when she was not comfortable you can damn well believe she made sure nobody was. "Well, let's see what you got?" she said to both of her Acolyte boys, content for the moment in the absence of Ole Smurfette and Miss Spare-rib.

A grin came on his face the moment that Niki came in, like it usually did. "Aw be nice babe, he's doin' the best he can. 'Sides I like the rabbit dude he's got some moves, right bro?" Ian said to Coffee and gently bumped his fist to the rabbit's paw. "He just wants to chill with us. Right buddy?" He stood up and threw his towel on the bench walking to the mat. "I can't stay long cause I gotta meet Pete for that garden crap, but I got enough time to show ya what Eric taught me about getting out of a Full Nelson. Coffee could spar with ya though, hes pretty damn good. I learn something from him." Ian liked the rabbit a lot and thought he was an interesting little guy. He was fast and hell he taught Ian a lot of sweet moves so he didn't have just brute strength on his side.
"Remember how I told ya how my broha Eric got a black belt in jujitsu? He showed me this one move one time cause its really handy to know and it works on just about anyone. Like Eric nailed me with it and I got like at least fifty pounds on him," he said with wide eyes shuddering at how easily that his buddy took him down with this move. "So it would be pretty good for you Kev. Anyways c'mere lemme show ya." He waited till Kevin came up to him and stood behind him, hook his arms carefully around the little guy's shoulder from behind, watching his strength so he wouldn't accidentally crush him. He got him in a full Nelson hold and held him a lot lighter. "Ok so say some punk comes at ya from behind and grabs you like this, cause its good at disabling all movement. Imma tell ya what to do to get outta it, but first thing is you can't panic, and just plant your feet to the ground so it won't be easy to drag you... yea like that little buddy you got it." Ian nodded in approval and gave a gentle tug just to make sure.
"Ok now bring your elbows down as hard as you can, cause that will break the attacker's grip and then keep them there to pin there arms there." Ian waited for Kevin to do that successfully before going on. "Ok now listen, this is what I want ya to try and do. Take your time cause I needed a lotta practice b'fore I got it too. Lean forward and put your right foot behind my left so you're standing next to me almost, keeping my arms pinned the whole time. Then use your hand to grab the back of my right knee and press into it hard. Pull it forward and then up." Ian was a pretty good teacher and he was patient with Kevin until he would get it.

Flea bag, Coffee thought amused. The girl underestimated him as he had happily noticed everybody else in the school seemed to do as well. It seemed most of them just could not take him seriously due to his having to tap, well that and the cute little grin that he put on for them. A born killer, bred by Mojo to be the fiercest and most cunning of gladiators, just eight months before arriving at the Mansion, Coffee had snapped the neck of a gladiator even bigger and stronger than Diesel before a crowd of cheering thousands and billions more watching at home on television throughout the Mojoverse. The man's downfall had been underestimating the rabbit.
At the Institute, Coffee was careful to craft a harmless image. He stuck mostly to helping with the Alphas, he gave a silly little wave and grin to everybody, and he kept secret the fact that he spent 6 to 8 hours a day out in the woods honing his killer training. In the sparring matches with the students he was carefully judging their strengths and weaknesses. Working with Iceman in Powers Training was giving him the chance to reach them all methodically. He did not want a fight. Had he come to the Institute to infiltrate it, Emma Frost would surely have read that on his mind. But he knew he was just a guest, and that when Mojo found him he would have powerful methods of persuasion to convince them to give him up.
Ian proved Coffee's favorable opinion of him correct, when his lesson to Hardlight for the day was all about turning a bigger, stronger opponent's strength against him. The rabbit nodded ever so slightly with approval as he watched.

"Oh I got it now, like THIS!" Kevin said after six or seven failed tries and the most undrestanding teaching in the marshial arts he had ever known. Wolverine was always so rough and he had so many kids in gym class that when they did do any kind of sparring there was never any indevidual training or special time taken for somone who didn't get it. Ian on the other hand was so pashient that when Kevin finally got it he looked like he was real proud as the short gay boy cheered for himself, at leest to Kevin's eyes since he did'nt know what that looked like to oftin in his life he was not given any kind of aproval at all.
"Like FINALLY, huh?" he said holding out his hand and helping his teammate up to his feet. "Not bad for the little guy eh?" He said with a smile to Cofee, who he always thought was a wonderful person even though he was not human, but then Kevin never thougt sombody had to be human to be a person, but that was somthing that he had learned from his old Gramma. He knew she and Cofee would had hit it off fine, and probally enjoyed some tea together or somthing. "Ok Niki, it's your turn. Hey where are the rest of the Acolytes anyway? I had only time to ask you and Gavin and Ivy, but I hoped more people would show up if you guys spread the word." He made a face but with his back turnt so that Kyle coudl'nt see him and said "Looks like sombody got the word thow." and nuged his head in Fleet direction slyhly.

It was almost to the point that Kyle couldn't take it anymore and as he saw Kevin make a face, because with all of the mirrors in the Gym he was able to see that, and what Haven had said it was getting to him. He reached a hand over, in an almost unconscious way and dialed up slowly. One, and the world around him looked just slightly brighter. Two, with that he felt himself lift as if out of a cave of depression. Three, and the world around him slowed down slightly then as Kyle's eyes darted around the room.
Thinking that it felt good, even like the warnings he got from Beast and Nightcrawler were just a way to keep him down and keep him from becoming a leader on the team and in the school. He let his fingers play on the dial for a second longer a gentle tap of his fingertip in time to his own heartbeat. 'This is the stuff' he thought as the blue crackling energy started to cascade in him as he dialed up to Four. 'I will show that cheap-shotting punk ass and his sabotaging bitch of a girlfriend that they can never hurt me again.' He thought of the cold metal table in the lab and how conveniently Haven had hooked him up wrong.
Swirling his finger around on the dial and not even knowing how high he would be safe to take it he imagined it as the world would go almost frozen. He wanted to take off running at Diesel and grab him around the arm, using the momentum to whip him around. To build up the speed and release him so he flew right into Haven and smash the two of them into the mirrored wall hard enough to kill. The sound of shattering glass raining down would made him laugh. The chunks of broken mirror still falling on you and the groans of pain and agony were going to be sweet music to Fleet's ears. Taking out the girl who tried to kill them all, he would be a hero, but it didn't happen like that. He dialed back down. He would get them another day, but now he was too hurt and tired. His stretching and slight workout was done so he left.

Barely looking at Fleet as he stood up and gimped out Haven made sure to keep a watchful corner of her eye on him. She never liked the kid and it was his crap that had set off so much drama in her life and the school. His little over the top attitude and his objectification of women plus all of his stupid flirting had been the straw that broke the camel's back and she was set off on a mission of destruction. Not only of self destruction, but of destroying anything she so chose, and he was definitely on that list.
Since her return to the school and his departure as Jumper she had grown and now it seemed that she had little to worry about from him, he was after all a shadow of his former self. She was sure Ian would agree that the paybacks they had smacked down on him since his welcome back as Fleet were empty in a way, not that it didn't feel good to hurt him, but it was not as fulfilling as she had wanted it to be. Like Kyle had become so much softer and less a 'big man'. If she had to give a fair assessment the most accurate thing she could equate hurting him to was kicking a dog that had one of those cones around it's head so it didn't chew on itself. She shook her head at the fact that once he had been someone who turned her world upside down, but how far from that he was now.
Her attention drawn back to Kevin and Ian she smirked. "You want to try that on me? What? Try and grab me?" She giggled at them both a little. "OK, who's first?" she asked as she stepped into the middle of the mat and put her arms out to the sides. "How about you Ian because this is not something I want to do on Kevin. I use a slightly different technique, and well, it has a bit of a hard edge to it. No power, though, so don't worry Kev" she said as Ian put his hold on her, lacing his fingers together "You'll be able to do this one once..."
Niki felt him lock his hold in place and she moved fluidly into her counter to the full nelson. "...you get.." Reaching both hands behind her over her head and grabbing around Ian's interlaced fingers she squeezed hard as she forced herself backward against him. Feeling his body's natural reaction to her full force against him he responded by pressing his quickly fading advantage. "...the..." As expected she felt him bearing down forward on her, the bait and switch playing out she switched her momentum. Dropping to a knee as she squeezed tighter on his hands and heard the pain in his confused and disoriented grunt she flipped him straight over her to land hard on his back on the mat. "...hang of it!"
Standing up quickly and pulling Ian's arms over her head by his almost snapping fingers, his hands twisted up and under, she looked over at Kevin and smiled. "Now you have him, and it's your choice if you let him go or break both his wrists and all of his fingers." With a wink she let go of Ian's hands, trusting his healing power to repair whatever damage had been done. "I know that one was a little advanced, takes a lot of commitment to wanting to hurt someone, so I wont be offended if you never try it. Actually Kevin.." she helped Ian to his feet.
"...I don't know how to say this but if you are going to get this fighting thing down you really have to be ready to hurt someone." Niki had always thought of Kevin as too tender hearted to hurt someone, but she knew he was not just a little softy. She just didn't really know his level of commitment with his training, even though Diesel had kept her informed on his progress, she was glad she had come to see the look in his eyes as he fought. She would know if he was serious if she saw what she was hoping for.
