Awkward… The sparrow on her shoulder trilled melodically and head-butted Liv’s neck, letting her know exactly what he thought of the tense conversation going on between the humans. The little warrior bird was scoffing, hopping the length of her shoulder and grumbling. Two-leggers and their words. Always with the talking. I’ll never understand. Come on, Livi, beak’er and be done!
“Hush, Cuil.” Liv blew a puff of air at her little spy to ruffle his feathers and glared down at the grass, her brow drown down in a frustrated knot. She had been relaxing, trying to forget her bloody lip and her fallout with the snowball, but the comfortable tranquility that had permeated the lawn only a few moments ago was gone… and she should be, too. Rolling up to her feet, Liv brushed the grass and bits of dirt off her pants, not bothering to look at either of the Acolytes just yet. Note to self, Liv reflected, Niki is territorial.
Territorial.
That was an understatement. Niki had all but peed on Ian, marking him as effectively as slapping a collar on the guy. Rubbing the back of her neck uncomfortably, Liv glanced up at her new friend. Ian had been nothing but kind to her and now it looked like he was going to catch hell for doing her a favor and keeping quiet about what he had seen in that room. Gonna make it up to you, Big Guy, she promised Ian silently and turned her attention toward the woods. If Niki and Ian were going to bicker, she was going to bail. Liv wasn’t interested in listening to their personal business. Whatever… issues needed hashing out the two Acolytes didn’t need an audience and Liv didn’t need to watch. “I’m just gonna….yeah.”
Liv jerked her thumb back toward the school and took a few steps away. “No offense or anything, but I’ve had one too many visits from the Drama Llama already today but nice meeting you and all. We’ll hang later, I’m sure.” Liv offered Haven a lazy smile and strolled off, clapping Ian on the shoulder as she passed him and throwing a wicked smirk in his direction. “Oh, Niki? Do me a solid?” Liv spun around to face the powder pale girl, her eyes serious. “No more ‘face pounding’ if ya don’t mind. I’ll handle it.” She turned back to the school tossing a lazy wave over her shoulder. “Play nice, kids. Cause I’ll hear about it if you don’t.” She walked off laughing lightly. The grounds were big enough that she could find someplace else to unwind. She glanced at the bird on her shoulder as she strolled. “Any suggestions?” Cuil chirped quietly in her ear and a huge grin spread across her face.
“Excellent.”

"What the hell was that smirk? Who the %$#@ does she think she is? Skanky little dishrag." Haven said sitting up almost standing, with half a mind to go and pound the venom out of Liv's mouth. "I say sorry and she leaves in a huff? And you saw that look- that's exactly what I was talkin about Ian. That girl has some shit in mind for you. You think I'm just a pain in the ass but you know me and you know I had ta fight for everything I ever had and guard anything I ever held dear, cause out there" she pointed in a random direction "out in the world, if you turn your back someone takes what you love and destroys it or swipes it and it's gone."
"I know you're mad at me, and I get that you deserve better than to be accused, but I wasn't being mean to you or accusing you at all. I was just being ME, and you of all people know how I am, and you know I've been getting better." She shook her head and had that almost laugh almost cry moment where her emotions didn't know what to do. "Drama Llama.. drama llama!?! She can go HUMP a drama llama and ride it outta town for all I care, who the hell is she to tell me to play nice and what's she gonna do if she hears about it. Was that coño threatening me? That bitch is crazy, I wonder what she did to set off the ice princess." She decided to laugh it off then, that girl wasn't worth any more energy.
"Whatever. Ian coma on Papi, don't be like that.. you don't have those instincts to worry about things like how I do. You grew up in a house with a family that loved you and cared if you lived or died, or if you ate or had clothes to wear. I'm doing all I can to get past my past but I'm not perfect." She shot him a look, a realistic 'this is me talkin to you straight from my heart' look. "I had to live offa trustin my gut and I trust you, more than anyone in the world I trust you. BUT.. My instincts tell me that that girl is slicker than she looks and NOT to trust her. Hell, I gotta go with em. If I'm wrong then I'll admit it, but she isn't on the Paragons for nothin, so just be aware is all."
"Now come on and quit bein so grumpy, I miss ya all day and you're gonna be mad now? Just cause I want you to myself?"

Ian watched Liv walked away regretfully and sighed. "You gotta remember babe, she don't know ya like I do, hell she just got here yesterday. She ain't used to your hot and cold approach," he said plainly but still with that real tone to it to let her know he wasn't mad, not now cause he got that Niki didn't fully understand life outside the streets. "You come over assume for no reason the chick is a slut, and you pretty much claim she was probably hittin' on me, and then the next second you apologize. That's cool if it's someone who knows you babe, cause they get that's how you are, but any new chick you meet and you act like that, hate to tell ya Niki babe, you're gonna get either a reaction like that, or something a hella lot nastier. I think she was pretty polite considering babe." Ian shrugged and shook his head in disappointment. He was having a lot of fun with Liv and he was bummed that she left, but he didn't blame her.
"I get that you said 'sorry' but I told ya before, people that don't know ya are still gonna be offended when ya first pretty much call 'em a slut and say they're after your guy, and then apologize in the next second. It's not gonna fly with most people," he said looking over at Niki. "I'm still gonna hang out with her, she's a mad cool chick, and yea I can consider her a friend." Ian sighed and slumped back, leaning on his arms. To say he was disappointed with how all it turned out was an understatement, but he had a feeling it was time to set some things straight between him and Niki. He got her and that's why he was lenient with a lot of the crap she pulled in their relationship, but it had been getting too much for him for awhile, especially when she wouldn't respect his boundaries and dislike of public affection.
"Look Niki, I get that you grew up differently, I really do. I get that it still stays with you, but I'm telling you now I can't keep putting up with some of it. You should trust me enough that even if a girl is interested in me, nothing will come of it. That should be enough for you, but I feel like I can't even chill with a chick without you freaking the %$#@ out about it. That's gotta change cause I don't like restrictions like that, and I don't like losing potential friends all the time cause you got issues with people. That ain't gonna fly with me anymore," he said looking right at her, not pissed or upset, just laying it out.
"You gotta respect that I don't dig the PDA crap, and more importantly I don't like being treated like I'm a toy, and you gotta bite anyone that gets near me. You gotta start chilling out with that stuff, cause I can't take the intensity anymore that ain't for me, and I don't wanna deal with that kinda thing just yet." There were a lot of times where Ian forgot that he was only sixteen because he had done so much growing up here and had seen more than he ever expected to in life. In the end though, he was still a kid, and he heard enough from his Buddhist mom that he only was a kid once and he shouldn't waste that time being upset and aggravated, no matter what situations life through at him. "Can you handle that babe? Cause I still care 'bout ya an awful lot, but I can't stick with what's been going on now."

"Alriiight," she grinned at her man "s'bout time you put your foot down and told me my place. I kinda like this side of you Papi." Niki's eyes softened and her one eyebrow raised up as she looked at him differently then. "I'm good with all that, it's kinda hot you takin charge. And it's actually a good idea for me to ease off cause I don't wanna have to waste my life guarding you. I would if you were like in a coma or something but I get it, you want friends you got em. You don't want public snuggles that's cool too, but I'm still gonna sit with you and I might lean up against you when we watch a movie or somethin if that's not a violation. Just know that if anybody disrespects you, or me, by not respectin what we got and what we are to each other then I promise you mi amour, I'm not gonna be chill about that at all." Her tone was soft and sultry, her bedroom eyes sparkling as the night sky, lit with the fullness of moon and stars, reflected in them.
"She might be mad cool but sorry, I'm not convinced yet. Just cause she has an enemy that's your enemy doesn't make her your friend Ian. I know you like people, but don't be naive. She could turn out to be one of the best friends you ever had, or I ever had for that matter, but I seen smart asses like that before and they always bring shit on themselves. I'll give her a pass on not acceptin my apology though, hell I probably wouldn'ta either, and if you like her enough to want to hang out with her then I guess she can't be all that bad." Her head nodded slowly as she considered completely what she had agreed to then.
Niki still could see the smirk on the girls face in her mind's eye and she didn't want to like her. She thought too that Liv hadn't even said she was sorry for keeping Ian to herself all day. To Niki that was just not what you did when you met a guy's girlfriend that you had been chillin with for hours. It was bad form and it meant she was hiding something about what went on. Looking at Ian though she knew he didn't have a clue what might have been going on in the girl's head, or in her heart, or her panties for that matter. Ian was HOT and what made him even hotter was the way he was, just so genuine and adorable.
"So we good then?" She asked innocently starting to feel a chill in the air, but not wanting to let her forcefield rise. Haven hoped her Diesel would take her in his arms and hold her, since there was no one around, but she didn't want to push the issue with him.

Ian looked at her for awhile and nodded his head. "We're good babe, thanks a lot for respectin' me like that. I knew you probably woulda to begin with, but you're kinda unpredictable," he smiled at her slightly and sat up again, the night now coming upon them and the country air taking in it's night time temperature. He was pleasantly surprised that Niki didn't fight him on it, and just said she'd go for it. He had braced himself for a full on fight about it, her calling him unfair among other things, so this was a nice change to what he was expecting.
"For the record babe, I don't call her a friend cause neither of us care for Frostbite. It's cause she's just cool babe, in fact after that whole thing I was the one who had to practically beg her to hang out for the day cause she was really bummed out and I wanted to cheer her up," Ian said, giving a grim smile as he remember how bad of shape Liv was in after that whole thing. "You can't just judge right off the bat that you know what happened babe, cause ya don't. This ain't the streets, this isn't how things work around here. Just remember that for next time okay babe?" He gave her a grim smile that turned into a bigger and genuine one.
"Aw c'mere." Ian put his arm around her and pulled her to his side, smiling contently. He did care about her a lot cause they been through a lot together and she helped him grow as much as he helped her. "I'm glad we're good babe," he said with a smile as the sound of motorcycles from the garages was heard faintly. He grinned at Niki and nudged her. "Looks like Spitfire's home babe!" He knew she missed her and it was off putting for her to have a weekend without her, and it made his smile widen to see the look on her face.

"Yeah.." Niki said snuggling into his warm embrace "Spitfire's home" she purred just repeating his words in a dreamy way. He could have said 'swamp-rat tastes like pumpkin pie' and she would have repeated it in the same tone. She honestly had no idea what he said for a moment as the whole world was perfect and lovingly warm in Ian's embrace. Then it sunk in.
"What?" She looked up at him from the spot on his chest she had leaned into. "Aideen's back?" She cocked her head slightly and listened and sure enough the sounds of motorcycles and a suped up V8 crackling and spitting up the drive were distinct and she grinned up at him. "Oh Papi- come on!"
Excitedly sitting up and rolling onto her knees she leaned in and kissed Ian deeply on the lips. Pulling away slowly and deliberately and leading him to follow her, with her lips locked on his, into a standing position. "Let's go say hi!" she beamed and grabbed him by the hand pulling him at a gentle run to the garage. Giggling and looking back at him as they went.
