"-Yes mum, I did pack clothes other than my cardi ... yes and a waterproof. Heck I think it was your cagool I nicked ... well you wanted me to take on didn't you? ... you know you love me ... yea you do, don't deny it ... I miss you too mum ... and you too daddy, you still owe me flying lessons remember-" As she came crunching up the path towards the stables Donna laughed down the phone at her parents frantic phone call. Checking up on their only baby girl. They had just arrived at their airport to leave and where making sure she was well equipped for this new school.
"-what do you mean, I’ve not been to a class yet, how can I have homework already? ... oh please, that’s just Phil is way easy ... no mum maybe not to you but you got music and I’m tone deaf ... true ... dad don't you dare let my room out to squatters!" She laughed, catching sight of the relatively deserted looking building. There where voices from inside so she was assuming there was someone that could tell her what was going on around this 'mutant academy'. It was way cool that she was a mutant; her dad had just ruffled her hair and called her sport like he did when she was a kid, and her mum hugged her painfully tight and squealed with her. They thought it was cool that she was 'special'.
She was lucky that they where like that, so open to new things. They weren't harsh, or laid back. They, like herself where right smack bam in the middle. They where the normal ones, despite having a mutant daughter they wore the badge with pride. Her dad even bragging to the men in his squadron that their kids didn't have powers. It really made her laugh.
Rolling her eyes as she heard in the background her mum and dad play fighting she fought the urge to couch and interrupt. They where still teenagers when they had the chance, one of the reasons she realized why they could get along. They still remembered what it was like and gave her just enough encouragement without being overbearing, and enough freedom to be 'cool' without being careless. "-You two don't even realize how much I wanna gag right here." She laughed. "Anyway, I think I better go. Call me later when you get home ok? And dad? You rock, I love this universal mobile! I won’t charge bajillions to call you guys. ... Alright mum, dad. Love you both. Speak soon ... I miss you two as well, don't worry you know I’ll do something I need to tell you soon enough ... no, not like crashing a plane dad. Yea, okay, talk soon. Love you both ... -mwah-!"
With that, she flipped down the phone and shoved it into one of the large pockets of her cherry red cardigan. The leggings and knee high wellington boots didn't exactly go with the ensemble; but she loved her cardi's and neither rain nor shine would prevent her wearing them.
Apparently, her footwear was appropriate as when she got to the stables she noticed kids cleaning it. And a couple holding a lemonade stand of some sort. Cute. “Hey dudes? Anyone wanna let the new kid know what’s goin’ on around here? I’m proper lost.” She laughed a little and shoved both hands deep into the pockets either side of the woolen garment. Sure she would look odd. She had green hair for one, a bright red wool covered top and barley covered bottoms. Although her wellingtons did look worst. Camouflage. A joke between her dad and her really.
With a quick scope of the room she noticed most of them working away to themselves, although one girl sitting down seemed to be doing sweet nothing. “Or if it helps I could give you lot a hand? Big place for a small group. You guys being punished or something? This your version of detention? Oh crap!” She gave a small half laugh at her conclusion and kicked he foot a little. Still tilting her head up to look around the place.

Ana glanced at the new girl critically for a moment, looking her up and down and visibly cringing at the fashion disaster that walked in. "You must be lost... and blind too yes?" she said looking her up and down. "That would be the thing to ask." Ana pointed at Ripple, giving her a sickly sweet smile. "You seem to have much in common, getting dressed in dark and blindfolded is more common than I thought." She tossed her hair back and sauntered over to her team to help herself to a glass of lemonade. "This is fresh made yes? I think I will go on raw food diet. It will do wonders to my skin." She used her telekinesis to pick a glass up from the tray and brought it to her hand. She took a small sip to taste test it, letting her taste buds soak in the sweet and sour drink. "You use regular sugar yes? Well it cold and refreshing, so thank you both much," Ana said to her two teammates sweetly.
She put her hand on Jasper's shoulder and winked at him. "He look so much better now yes? Those wings not nice on him, without wings much nicer I think." Ana giggled sweetly and took another sip of her drink. "Many changes in school now yes? And... new additions too," she said looking back at the girl with the green hair with a slight scoff. Ana was always one to judge upon first glance, and this girl just did not cut it. Frostbite's blue hair was at least chic and made sense, and unless this girl could turn herself into green jello it just looked tacky.
"We've been working hard you see. And try to keep the not smart one over there to not burn down barn." She gave Heather and K'8 a pointed look. "She not very bright, a hangover for her effect memory and common sense. She was very rude to Sean, who ask her nicely to put out cigarette. She no do it so I do it for her." Ana winked at K'8 and smiled at her team. She did like them a lot and since she came to the school, she found herself loosening up more and being more open minded to be on such a diverse team.

"Quite the party you got here," Katana said as she sauntered in brushing right past a new girl with green hair. She was quite surprised to see Alex standing around drinking lemonade with K'8, Aqua, and a whole gaggle of people. "Hey Alex, I got so sick of French...ce boring...stop goofing off and let's get to work so we can get you outta here. The weekend without you is such a drag." All morning Katana had been writing and rewriting participles and conjugations and she was ready to scream. In fact she had, startling the heck out of some poor girl who was sitting in the rec room. So now even though this was the first punishment handed out in forever that didn't involve her, she was ready to join the delinquent crew to get it done so her one and only friend could hang out.
With a hand on her hip she looked at Alex with mock indignation and real impatience. "Oh shit," she said under her breath when it suddenly dawned on her that her entrance had been rather rude. "Yeah, hi everybody. I'm kinda here to help. Sorry for the rudeness." Her cheeks colored a little as she said it. "You know I was raised in a barn," she said lightheartedly to cover her embarrassment, "so I can be of some help here." Not seeing anybody laughing she shrugged it off. Turning to the new girl she said, "Oh, I'm Katana, by the way."

Heather was rather surprised, wondering where all these new students kept popping up. But the new mutant who seemed really nice made her smile. "Hi, I'm Heather and this is K'8, Sean, Ana, Jasper, Alex and Lian," she said warmly. "Welcome to the Academy. Would you like some lemonade?" Thankfully she and K'8 made some extra glasses in case anyone was extra thirsty.
Prior to the new girl and Katana joining, Heather was so happy that Jasper was able to control the use of his wings. She had to hug him spontaneously, while making sure the leftover weight of the lemonade wasn't too much for her teammate. She was so full of content especially since Jasper seemed way happier compared to the past several weeks.
Looking back at the new girl, Heather was thrown aback by her hair. It wasn't really suitable with her complexion and knowing Ana and Veronika, they would have a field day making fun of her. Ana already started and Heather had to shake her head with a smirk. It was so typical of her. But Heather wasn't really one to judge since she tried her best to be open minded to everyone and their identities. Some people don't have fashion sense, she reminded herself. It's not their fault. "Would you like some lemonade?" she asked the green haired girl. She then turned to Sean and remembered to answer his earlier question. "I've never ridden a horse before," she said nervously. "But i'll try."

Kris'd quickly nipped down to his dorm just to adjust his hair right after breakfast. He hadn't had a chance to get it right earlier in the morning, so now was his time to perfect his looks. And now, he was making his way down to the stables 'cause he'd thought it'd have been nice of him to keep Ana some company, because after all, the poor girl must be bored beyong belief. Out of the group, Kris was closest to Ana, and he just couldn't stand the idea of his best friend standing around and cleaning stables. That was so un-Ana like. He was just hoping that Sean wasn't too hard on her. Ana just looked so fragile, it wasn't in him to watch her do anything too tough. As Kris got closer to the barn, his eyes started searching for his best friend, but instead of raven-black hair catching his eye, something very green was to be seen. Kris raised his eyebrows, slowing down his stance. From where he stood, it looked like someone just felt like being an idiot and had picked up loads of grass and somehow attached it to their head- but as he got closer, the thing started to look less grass-like and more like... "... haven't I thought you people even a bit about how to look decent?! Oh who did thii iii-" Kris stopped in mid sentance as he practically ran to take a look at the fashion disaster that stood with it's back facing his way. He'd run right in front of the girl, staring into her face before he realized that this wasn't a face he recognised. He took a couple of steps back, looking half horrified half shocked. "I... uh.." Awkward much? He gulped and blinked before turning his back to the girl and burrying his face in his hands. Oh shit shit shit. Oh jheez. Poor girl... though... she ought to know about it... maybe she'll dye her hair back to whatever colour it was before this came along. Looking at the rest of her attire, i guess she did this too herself. Oh god no... this poor soul... someone must've really messed with her mind to allow her to wear these kind of clothes... though her wellingtons are rather... eye catching, but oh god no.Kris turned back around with a forced smile on his face. "Oh... um, I'm sorry. I'm... Kris. Oh! AH! Lemonade! Heather sweety! Got any er... left for me?" Kris didn't really care for lemonade, but he had to get the conversation moving... his rather... abrupt inturuption had caused the climate to change a bit as far as he could tell. He licked his lips and moved over to stand besides the person he'd come looking for in the first place. "Oh dear who is she?!" Kris whispered, his words only for Ana's ears.

What a welcome. Donna, being a girl with a mind more open than most simply let ail the comments wash over her. She had known people would stare at her hair. Heck it was one of the reasons she dyed it this bright anyway.Right from that first moment when she flicked her hair up to look in the mirror and was faced with green glory she had known the trouble she would get from the people around her. Old ladies tutted, old men glared, grown ups 'tsk'ed and some kids just sniffed and turned away.
Her own mother had been against it, but thankfully her dad kept her right, telling her of when he had dyed his hair fluorescent pink for a year when he first dated her mum. Her dad was awesome.
"I'm glad someone finally mentioned my hair, it gets boring when people just try to pretend it's not green." She said, bubbling with giggles. The expressions on some of the faces was positively priceless and she for one was sad she couldn't frame them.
As she tried picking out the names she moved one hand out of the giant pockets either side of her and waved once. She nodded a little and kicked the ground, announcing generally. "Sup? I'm Donna. New girl, knows nothing about whats going on and is more than just a little confused." At the end she grinned quickly and laughed to herself as she picked out the faces.
The scratchy girl in the corner reminded her of one of her old math teachers, the skinni Minni's where all the same. No clue how to treat people. But Donna knew how to wind them up the right way. "Well twiggy since i don't know you and I'm supposed to make a good impression i guess I'm just gonna take it thats your way of giving me a big friendly hello and welcoming me to this school. You know i think we're gonna be real good friends." Winking at her obviously she turned to the outraged boy, her face looking concerned at him and laying her hands out in mock sympathy,
"As for you boy-o don't think you missed my radar here-" 'gay-dar more like' she thoughts to herself with a cheeky grin. "- I know your just sad you didn't think of green hair before me. Sorry to say toots, i beat you to the punch. If you can phoned me last year and gave me pre warning before i ever came here or knew i was a mutant then i would totally have taken purple. Sorry." With a mock sad face she changed to a grin quickly and laughed to herself. It was good to be back in a school again. Being told she was a mutant was still new to her and despite her over-exuberance she was actually putting on no show. Donna was being very much, Donna.
"Nice to see you Heather, nice name by the way. Fits you. But I'll decline on the lemonade for now, I'm still a little worried that drinking after jet lag may make this much loved cardi change colour." Laughing again she sighed and stuck her hands back in her pockets. She was gonna like the school. "Actually, anyone wanna explain this place? My info didn't give much and i know i gotta answer to a kitty cat or something? That make sense to anyone? I know I'm a new mutant, but heck i knew that anyway." She said with a shrug. Very confused in this place.

"Oh Hey!" K'8 said catching the clues to what the new girl was saying with a snap of her fingers. "Okay, you're on our team, the New Mutants, and our Team leader is this cool chick named Kitty Pryde- Shadowkat is her mutant name." She nodded as she took in the sight of the girl. Katie had her own sense of fashion it was true, but this girl took 'marching to the beat of her own drum' to the extreme.
"I'm Kate.. D'mnchyld is my codename." she smiled at Donna. "I guess the green hair will look kinda cute with our team color. The New Mutants got orange. The Acolytes are red and the Paragons have green..." she giggled. "Too much information? It's just to help with training and stuff, but don't sweat it Donna. The training teams are fun and really make this place pretty cool. So what's your codename? What do ya do, you know- your power?" She thought she might change the subject a little and at least try and make the girl feel as though she was being welcomed to her new home.

Sean laughed at how excited Kate got and squeezed her shoulder. "Well its mighty nice to meet ya Donna. Most of us here are on the New Mutants, 'cept for Kris right there, Lian and Leah," he said pointing them out with a smile. He didn't have anything against any of them, in fact preferred to see the good side of them rather than the negatives that sometimes people focused on. "Ma name's Sean codename TuneUP." Sean took off his hat for the girl and in respect to Katana who had entered a moment ago. "Don't you mind Ana, she's a real sweetheart when ya get to know her." He grinned at the tall thin girl, seeing right past her little act. Riker had them all connected, and they all knew the other pretty darn well. Ana was the little princess of the team, and she certainly fit the role. Despite all that Sean knew how much she cared for the team just like they all did.
"You'll like it here its real nice. We're just getting ready for the horses that are comin' in on Monday. Ya'll excuse me ladies, it's been awfully nice talkin' to ya but we got some work to be done." Sean tipped his hat to them and kissed Kate on the cheek. "Thanks for the drink little lady." He walked over to Katana and smiled at her. "We could really use the help Leah, thanks a heap. How 'bout you take over my job and I'll help Alex out with them hay bales? That's some heavy work and it wouldn't be right for me to let a lady strain herself like that."
He picked up his wheelbarrow and took her over to the stall that he finished. "All ya gotta do is use this shovel and pitchfork here and take all that old hay and put it here in the wheelbarrow and then wheel it out to that pile outside and just dump that. Jasper can always help ya if ya need it. Think ya can handle that?" Sean was grateful for the help and wanted to make sure she knew exactly what she had to do before he went off to do the hay bales.

Ana scoffed at the new girl and flicked her hair behind her. "Did we not just get new girl yesterday?" she commented with a roll of her eyes. She took a couple of more sips of the lemonade before setting it down on the tray. "You two sweet angels are too kind, even when you should not be." Ana reached over and took Kris' hand. "Well... duty calls yes? Is that how you say?" She gave the new girl a look and then turned away giggling, pulling Kris with her. She did adore her team very much, but Ana was a hard person to win over period. She needed to get used to people and feel them out before she would agree to being civil to them. To be fair, Riker was worse than she was, so the girl might as well get used to it.
Pulling Kris into the tack room, Ana sat in the chair and giggled with her dearest friend even more. "Oh can you believe her hair? How silly no?" she giggled to him as she used her telekinesis to pick up the rags and dunk them in water before shining up the racks. The mop came back up to clean the floor. "Her hair looks like mold. Oh I cannot wait to till Veronika sees her. That poor lamb will be horrified!" Ana said with wide eyes, dissolving into another set of giggles. They were a mean pair, but it was just so much fun.
"Oh did you hear Kris? All the stains from the hallway are gone! I laugh hard thinking of Frostbite trying to scrub stains out!" she gossiped with him giggling still at the expense of others. "I not believe the breakfast today no? Cyclops got very mad and Machete told him in his place yes? Can you believe that, my own eyes very wide that it happen." Ana babbled on to Kris now that they were both out of earshot about everything. They did have a lot of fun talking and gossiping about everyone in the school.

Lian rolled her eyes as she started cleaning out the stalls. Ana was a pain in the ass to her and skinny like a twig. Bothering the girl made Lian feel all fuzzy inside, making her chores actually seem tolerable. She was about to act upon it until she realized there was, yet another, new student to the school to welcome. The girl's hair was insane and not a color Lian would call flattering. Green streaks sure, Lian use to have red highlights in her hair and then changed it to purple. But she grew out of the whole hair bleaching and dying phase and just cut it into cool styles. Thanks to her biological roots, her hair grew a lot in only a couple of months. Standing up, Lian rose her left hand and waved it frantically. "HI... I'M LIAN!!" she said in a childish voice. Being silly was her thing and now that introductions were made, she was able to finish her work and enjoy the barbecue sooner. Looking at Ana and Kris' back, Lian smirked and decided to finish her bothering for now with a lovely song: "Please die, Ana For as long as you're here, We're not You make the sound of laughter And sharpened nails seem softer And I need you now, somehow And I need you now, somehow Open fire On my needs designed On my knees for you Open fire On my knees desires What I need from you Imagine pageant In my head The flesh seems thicker Sandpaper tears corrode the filth And I need you now, somehow And I need you now, somehow Open fire On my needs designed what I need from you Open fire On my knees desires What I need from you And you're my obsession I love you to the bones And Ana wrecks your life Like an anorexia life Open fire On my needs designed On my knees for you Open fire On my knees desires What I need from you Open fire On my knees desire Open fire On my needs designed On my knees for you.............." Setting down his second glass of lemonade, Jasper glanced back at Ripple with a weirded out look on his face. He didn't know why she chose to sing a song about Ana when she was no longer in the room, but then again Ripple was known for a delayed reaction. <I guess she drank some of the leftovers this morning,> he thought with a shrug while refilling his lemonade.
Jasper had eyed the new girl for a moment, taking in her hair and her peppy little appearance. He was never one to take to people easily, and it took him long enough to get used to his current team. Now that he was, in his own way he was protective of them, some more than others. They had all been exposed to how people within the teams could hurt them, they saw it with Katana, with Frostbite, and with Chupacabra. Jasper had enough of it just as Riker had, just as all the other teams had. He couldn't be blamed for being rather untrustworthy of new people.
"Mein name is Jasper, codename Onyx," he said slowly and carefully so she could understand him through his thick accent. He didn't offer anymore information than that, glancing over at Sean and then at Katana. He didn't want to talk to her or have anything to with her after yesterday, but even she couldn't screw up his good mood. "Danke Frauleins for zhe drink. They were very good, jou two are angels indeed." He put his arm around Heather and squeezed her shoulder and used his other hand to gently grab K'8's chin with his thumb and index finger. "I must get back to vork." Jasper turned and grabbed the wheelbarrow, getting back to the tedious task of cleaning out the stalls.

"Seriously? Aw man, that’s proper like, cool! Damn I wish I had a name like Kitty Pryde. Think Lion King Style ... lucky woman like." Nodding her head she smiled over at the Goth girl. Who would have guessed it would be her to make the nice in this big playground this lot called a school. Surely she should be the stereotypical Goth chick in the corner smoking grass and being a general nasty piece of work.
Donna liked her of course, she was cool.
"Codename? Oh yea, I'm Apogee? Maybe? Something to do with gravity I think. I'm not too clear on what this whole 'power' idea is, but from what I know I was floating, weightless style. It was proper awesome. Little sore on the landing, but pretty cool really."
Smiling a little brighter being on a different subject - as no girl likes being the center of freakish attention- Donna walked over to Kate and Heather. The girls where cool and that was something in her good books. Her team sure seemed cool, apart from miss beanpole in the corner with Mr. Gay UK! Of course the English accent was real easy on the ears. So it was more obvious than her hair that he was batting for the other team.
As she walked, she noticed the bond between Kate and one of the hottest Cowboys Donna had ever had the pleasure to cross paths with. 'Damn he's fit! Lucky girl getting a hook on him, what did she do?! I want some nice strong cowboy, aaah ... the hotness!' She thought happily to herself. Right now it seemed she would get along rather swimmingly with her team, or what she had met of it anyway.
After all, she still needed to meet the Kitty of Pride rock.
Nudging Kate when the Hunkie Cowboy went back to work and some very damn good looking foreign kid went to finish up; Donna whispered in a very girlish manner. "Damn, where'd you find him and where can I get one!" Winking at her o let her know she wasn't being deathly serious she inspected the rest of the people. True, it was a warmer welcome than some she had experienced; Donna also accepted that she had come in the middle of a term, into a new school, new Continent and needed to do some serious socializing to get into any proper groupings. Even if the kids here seemed pretty cool.
Once the lads had moved on, Donna gave a quick half handed salute to the two girls and walked over to Lian, a smirk on her lips as she hid her hands back in her pockets. "Now tell me darlin'. Why'd you make such a song about my best friend? She's been ever so kind to me, and frankly I think it was a wee bit mean-" Her lips pulled into a grin as she finished her very chipper sentence. "-Am I gonna hav'ta start calling you Meanie Beanie? Or want to let me know how you came up with them amazing lyrics." Giving a little laugh she tipped back onto her heels for a bit. She liked this lot. They where a very diverse and yet brought so much hilarity to her life in only the short hours she had been in the schools campus.

"I can handle it, thanks," Leah replied to Tune-Up with a slight smile before grabbing the pitchfork with her left hand and tossing it to her right as she walked casually into one of the stalls to start gathering hay. Within moments she was picking up large clods of muddy old hay and tossing them over her shoulder and through the stall door so they landed in more or less a pile near the wheelbarrow. Lot faster than walking it all over, she thought. She had thought about bringing the wheelbarrow into the stall with her, but had decided against it as then nobody else would be able to use it. No need to piss people off. Not today. Maybe tomorrow, she thought caustically.
That, however, was before Lian's dreadful little song. Oh, God does that b*tch ever shut the f**k up! I should've brought the Walkman. Anything to drawn out Lian would have been appreciated, even some of the stupid "Ecoutez Francais" series tapes she'd gotten from the library to help her catch up before Monday's class. By the third verse, Katana couldn't take it any more and stalked out of the stall with a bunch of wet, muddy hay on the end practically ready to fling it at Lian's head.
But she didn't do it. Instead she put the hay back in the pile and retreated into the stall. She wasn't interested in hearing about the new NuMutant's power or in interacting with the rest of their team who almost all seemed to be here, with the merciful exception of the wolf twins. As she went back she called out to Jasper, "I'm just making a pile there; when your done with the wheelbarrow let me have it and I'll take it all out." Not that she cared greatly what he thought, but Sean was cool and she didn't need Jasper telling him something stupid because he assumed she was slacking off, even though she didn't need to be here at all.

Alex stood there sipping lemonade taking in the new girl. When she first came in Alex really couldn't care less for her presence nor for her green hair. She wasn't a part of his game. Alex smiled when Leah walked in. She always made him laugh. It was true the weekend is nothing to Alex unless he spent time with Leah. She was rude when she came in but then she corrected herself then he smiled bigger. She just wants to help so I don't have to spend my whole weekend in here. I keep forgetting how bad she has it with everyone. I told her not to help. Damn she is stubborn. Alex did feel better now that she was here though.
He looked around and saw that there was too many people. It was becoming too crowded for Alex's like. He got nervous around too many people in social scenarios. He was introduced by Heather to the new girl and He just nodded at her.
He took down the lemonade in one gulp, "Thanks for the drinks ladies," and headed to the hay loft after smiling to Leah and gave her a thumbs up. He was climbing up when he heard Ripples song and laughed a bit. That's when he heard that the new girl, Donna, was apart of his team. He stopped on the step he was on. That is the second new person in the span of less then a week. Alex was no longer the new kid. But that still didn't change how people looked at him. Alex fought the urge to go back and introduced to himself properly but decided that the Hay loft was more important. He began to do what his "superior" said. He began to throw down the bales one by one. It hit the floor with a loud *THUD*.
Shortly he was joined by Sean. He tossed the bale down and turned to him. Alex was breathing slightly heavier and his shirt was drenched with sweat. He decided to be nice and said, "How did you ever do this?"
He smiled but there was something that he wanted to do. He looked at TuneUp and began to speak, "Uh, Sean, um, I just wanted to apologize for my behavior since I been here, They probably told you about my apology yesterday but I felt that I should tell everyone directly. So, yeah, sorry," Alex said it in the most humble voice he could muster. He sighed glad that he got that off but he was just waiting for a reaction now.

"You're welcome Jaspis," she replied with a smile. It was good to be there for her teammates and friends. Granted not all of her teammates were people she completely trusted. Now that the New Mutants had an addition, Heather along with Riker, Jasper and the rest of the team were going to evaluate her. Being a part of the New Mutants was something to honor. Out of all the teams, they were the closest when it came to family and organization. However the Acolytes seemed to be just as good if not better.
This new chick seemed to be laid back and decent. But if there was one thing Heather McCarthy learned from being at the Xavier School, it was to not completely trust someone right away. Plus first impressions were never accurate. Ever.
She helped collect the glasses from everyone who finished their drinks and made sure to balance them carefully on the large serving tray she and K'8 decided to use. "Do you guys want some help?" she then offered. It wasn't really fair for them to do all this labor during a wonderful day. Plus if she helped, it would get their chores done way faster and give them plenty of time for the future events of the day. Heather couldn't help but think what would happen. Knowing the school quite well, some kind of drama was going to happen.
