A coy demure smile formed on Veronika's full pouty lips, eyes sparkling in a mix of pride and mischief as she looked up at Nightcrawler. He was far smarter than many probably gave him credit for, particularly over other teachers. She knew that she could never fool Emma Frost, but all the other teachers were wrapped around her finger. Not to say Nightcrawler wasn't under her charm, he just knew a little bit better than others did as to what she was capable of. "It would not be prudent for me to fool you than would it?" she said coyly, biting her lip in that endearing way. No matter who she spoke to, there was always a flirtatious undertone to her words, seducing them into conversation, alluring them into her sphere.
"She gets along very well with people, even our ever scowling Jasper managed a smile around her." Her sapphire eyes slid over to the group playing Wii. "Tia did not seem too impressed, but when is she really? I for one think she has a lot of potential. More so than some of our other latest additions, which I am sure I do not have to tell you after the Danger Room session," her tone was laced with accusation as she looked over at Fleet, an image of Frostbite running through her mind at that moment as well.
"I think, Nightcrawler, that she will need a lot of, oh how do you say, stones? She will need a lot of something to take her through her first days with the Paragons. They are not exactly receptive of new people after the last catastrophe with people put on our team, but you can hardly blame them for that, can you?" Her eyes stared at him with a knowing glow behind them. She wanted her team to be the perfect mix, and right now it was far from perfect. One did not belong on the team to begin with, and the other had been gone too long to even comprehend how the team worked.
She smiled up at him, batting her eyelashes slightly just to charm him a little more. "We can only sit back and see then yes? But until then..." Veronika picked up the cue ball, moving it gently in her hand while biting her lip. "I could always learn some more billiard tricks from the Magnificent Nightcrawler." The words rolled off her tongue in a seductively innocent tone with her light Russian that only she could pull off.

The baseball game had been a wonderful way to spend some quality time bonding with the students, and Scott was getting better at being among them and at ease.. at least he thought he was. He was sure that Kitty would let him know how much of a stuffed shirt he appeared, and Emma would clue him in to other less blatant aspects of how he had behaved with the kids, but for the moment he was comfortable that at least he was trying his hand at bonding. He had taken everything in stride and was quite proud of himself that he didn't even fly off the handle when the little former turncoat put herself out to be a bit obtrusive, and more than a bit obvious, about what she had in mind.
In Scott's personal opinion he was not fond of the idea of students having relationships.. and more importantly relations... while there at the Institute, but he could only call himself a hypocrite at that thought because of his own ever-present involvement with Jean during his years in attendance. So without much recourse left to him he only shook his head and folded his arms with a grunt, the tone of which he had borrowed from Logan for an occasion of this caliber, raising an eyebrow in the pair's general direction. He was pretty sure the girl would behave herself since Diesel had put her in her proverbial place and assertively defined the pair's behavioral parameters for their time together in public.. at least, it seemed, for his own comfort level.
Trusting that Peter's head boy would handle things in a suitable fashion in his absence Scott stood up unfolding his arms and clearing his throat. "Never was much of a fan of Burt Reynolds, but you kids enjoy the movie. I had fun today and I hope you all did too." He said with a pat on Kyle's shoulder. He would have said more but he had pulled Colossus aside to ask him what he would be doing with Haven as far as punishment went, only to be told he had it under control. So, saying no more, he trusted in the fact that the Acolyte Team Leader had his team members well in hand "I will see you all tomorrow then." As he stepped away from the TV he looked over to Emma, holding her eyes with his movement and her mind with his thoughts, he conveyed what he felt through thought to her. With a nod and the slightest of smiles at her mental reply he left the rec-room.

"PENNY! Haay, where ya been?" She spun and looked at what the new addition to her team was holding out. "Oh.. uh, knitting? Okaaay- uh, I never knew anyone our age to knit- or is that crochet?" She cocked her head to the side as she shifted her weight letting one hip stick out a bit far. "Well whatever it is that's beautiful work, wow!" k'8 reached out to pinch it between her fingers, feeling the denseness of the weave and the softness of the yarn. "It's really wicked, and purple is totally a great scarf color.. but, uh.." she hesitated, not wanting to hurt the girl's feelings "You do know it's spring here and all, so it's only gonna get warmer, right?" She hoped she was right in thinking the girl was Korean, she had the traditional bone structure and physical appearance of someone from there at least. Thinking back to what she knew about the country she wondered which half she might be from, but considered that it had been split in two at about the same latitude as Washington D.C. she figured she knew it would be getting warmer. All things considered she was probably from the northern hemisphere regardless, but she spoke such good Engrish with hardly an accent. "Silly question, I know, but why a scarf?" She let it go and looked up at her, a quizzical look on her face. Out of the corner of her eye she watched as Cyclops left and the mood at the TV seemed to relax with his departure as Torri joined them there. "I mean are you expecting to be hanging out with Frostbite?" She giggled as she said it, remembering the girl and how she looked like she could use another friend or two. Her tone changed to one of sincerity then as she said "She's really nice when you get to know her, don't let today throw you off."

Penny smiled, happy that her friend liked the scarf. "It's knitting," she said clicking her knitting needles together in her hand. "My sister got me a real cool pattern book on my birthday." She'd actually been trying to make a sweater for her sister, but the pattern was too hard. Purple wasn't really her sister's color anyway, but she'd been so excited about the pattern she hadn't thought of that until after she'd started. Purple yarn was what she had, so it was what she'd used. She'd need to try again once she had more yarn. She'd used most of her yarn on the failed sweater, and had just enough left over for the scarf. "Yeah, I know it's spring," she said with a laugh, "but I tried to make a sweater, 'cause it gets cold at night you know. It didn't work. Gotta try the pattern again."
When Penny had arrived in Minnesota, she didn't know anybody and had no English. The ESOL program at her new school was tiny, and all the kids were Hmong or Hispanic. No other Koreans except her family. She'd joined the Stitch 'n' Bitch club because it was the only one where she didn't have to talk. She could just watch the other kids and copy what they did. The pattern books all had pictures. And the knitting was fun. Lots of great colors. Her friends also helped her with her English, and after a lot of work she'd gotten it right if a little formal. She'd also worked hard to lose her heavy accent. She wanted to be 100% American. She wanted to forget North Korea entirely.
"I had enough yarn for the scarf and thought you know it might be cute. Purple is a good color for you, but yeah it's getting warm and I could totally make you one in the fall. But I'd never thought of that ice girl. She'd need one all the time, right?" Penny frowned a little as she thought. "Or maybe none of the time. Sort of like cold is what she likes. Not like I really thought about what she likes. She seemed so strange, but if you say she's nice, she's nice....Maybe I should give it to her...But wouldn't that be kind of weird? Sort of like 'Hi, I don't know you, but have a scarf!'" Penny thought a second and smiled again, "Maybe if you gave it to her with me."
"So, yeah, that's a thought. So what are we doing tonight?"

"Pardon me ladies.." Emma said as she slipped her way over to stand there placing a hand on the multi colored lock of Katie Lazaro and playing with them softly ".. but 'Tonight' is officially over." Turning to the rest of the room she raised her other hand slightly as she called everyone's attention. "I hate to be the 'bad-guy' here, I am so often cast in the role, but it's ten o'clock and that means lights out children. We have had a wonderful day- for the most part -and I don't want it to end either, but tomorrow is another day."
"I believe some of the teachers might be having some team meetings or.. intramural power competitions possibly?" she offered it half as what she had heard and half what she would be interested to watch from the upper levels of the mansion proper. "So it would behoove you all to get some rest. "Lets go then kids."
The gripes and groans began, and Emma in her most diplomatic and genial way simply waved the children out of the rec- room and watched as they headed up to the dorms. Looking to the teachers as they remained behind for the moment, some still speaking to students some just gathering their energy for the arduous task of getting the students to settle down for the night. With a nod to them all Emma left them and walked, her stiletto heels tapping a staccato beat, to the elevator and descended to the lower levels of chrome, intent to check CEREBRA for any signal of emerging mutant to reach out a helping hand to.
