Several strands fell loose from her elegant up do from all the spinning, falling in her face softly when pulled up from the dip. "You worry about me too much," Aideen stated softly, feeling slightly breathless from all the dancing, but now finally seeing what the appeal to it might be. "He's just someone I recognized from other times I've come here. There has always been something rather equivocal about him, and I never cared for him." It was all true, for she would never lie to him, but she would leave out parts that weren't necessary to be said. Shadows of one's past haunts in every familiar place, and they would always remain inescapable. She kept up with every move effortlessly, much like when he trained her in the gym and a couple of times in the Danger Room after he showed her a new maneuver.
Dancing had always been just another form of training for her, this time in the part of her Uncle requiring her to be the perfect lady. Aideen was trained how to eat properly at a table in all types of restaurants, how to behave, how to look, how to dress, and how to respond when spoken to by different types of people. She had training how to sit, walk, dance, speak, and how to conduct herself in any and every situation. There was very few aspects in her life in which she wasn't trained in and her Uncle didn't have a hand in.
Now though, Aideen found herself liking this dancing thing far more than she ever did before. She dreaded it when she had to show Mason how to do it, though she wouldn't refuse a favor like that for a friend. Even though watching him get the steps wrong and fall on his ass was slightly amusing, Aideen took it as seriously as if she had been instructing him in how to handle knives. Right now spinning in so her back hit Logan's chest lightly under his lead, she was finding her face slightly flushed and though no smile had yet to make it's way to her face, it was evident from her glittering dark eyes that she was having a good time.
"Pardon me for being proper at a formal restaurant around people I have never met before," she said sarcastically as she spun out of the backward spin and brought forward, chocolate eyes glinting in amusement. "Would you prefer if I slouched in my seat, elbows on the table and laughed obnoxiously at any remotely amusing thing said?" Her voice had laughter behind it as she held back a smirk. "I could try, but I'm afraid if I slouch I'll give the whole table a bigger show of my goods than the one you just got when dipping me," Aideen said, this time allowing a smirk to break out on her blood red tinted lips. She knew the old trick, having attended more than enough formal functions to know all the little tricks. The music slowed and her arm moved to his shoulder, staying close to him as they swayed to the music, she touched her nose against his as laughter danced in her eyes.

"A lot has changed for the better with us at least, I wonder if they are talking about us the same as we are about them." She giggled as he nuzzled her. "But yea, they do all have a happiness about them. Dylan and Ingrid have this warmth it's almost tingly and of course Mike is his ever-oblivious self, but he is happy and strangely enough Lai seems to enjoy him in a way I never thought I'd sense of anyone. Like she is enjoying the frustration because of the reward in overcoming it? I don't know but that's what I got. Weird huh?"
"But those two?" Tracy nodded her head to the pair of Aideen and Logan as they danced on to the swing music. "I am blown away. It's so unfair that they have had to keep it bottled up for so long. I feel like it's going to kill me to have to see them pretend to be just student and teacher, and to feel them shut this," she slowed her dancing to watch them "this beautiful thing they have , down and put it away again. Not to mention to have to feel it along with them, oh Mason."
Tracy placed a hand on Mason's chest to stop him from dancing as she looked up at him. She wanted to give the whole floor to Logan and Aideen, they were the only other couple dancing now as the tempo slowed. They deserved it she thought, since they would have such a rough time of it she knew. The rest of the teachers would crucify HIM and there was one student who would make HER life even more uncomfortable once the truth was out. "Want to head back to the table? I feel like they're going to want to dance a bit more, so what do you say?"

"No cabs sweetheart, you can stay over. I even put clean sheets on the bed and I," he looked across the table at Dylan knowing that he was sure to get a raised eyebrow at the next thing he said but he didn't care and he smiled as he confessed "uh, I even vacuumed." With a shrug he shared the thought process and the conclusion he had cleverly concluded. "Ya never know, we might need more space than my old California King can provide. So I picked up and then when all my clothes were off the floor I could see the carpet, hey baby I just didn't want whatever that was on it stuck on your buns."
"You got too nice a buns for that shit hun." He nodded his head slowly as he ran his hand softly over his mouth and let his fingers feel the smoothness of his freshly shaved chin. "Oh yeah, too nice. Oh sorry, just thinking out loud." he said to the others at the table "You want the red or the white baby?" He asked as he poured himself a glass of the red. "Let me know if I get purple teeth, cause this is some serious RED wine." He lifted the glass just to take a sniff and and get his taste buds going, then placed it down again to see what Lai wanted.

"Vacuumed? Clean sheets?" Lai put a hand to her heart and did truly looked shocked. His apartment was usually so horrible that every maid that he hired quit after their third day of work. Lai didn't mind a mess, but his was a jungle. She lost countless of socks, bras and underwear in his room alone. "Wow... um baby I'm actually really... wow!" She was speechless at this point, and in a weird way truly touched.
"I'm just... Mike WOW!" Lai couldn't contain her surprise and leaned over to kiss right on the lips. "Baby that's so great! I can't wait to see it!" She licked her lips a little, mindful of her lipstick. "Mmmm I think I'll have the red wine, it tastes good!" Lai looked over at Ingrid and winked. "This is exactly why I like going out with you and Dylan. He has such good taste in wine," she said with a small laugh. "And I'm so ready for some food. But I can deal with a roll right now." Lai grabbed the roll and dipped it in the oil. "So Ingrid, when's that premiere party for that movie? I can't wait to meet Leonardo DiCaprio and oh I LOVE Joe Pesci!" She gushed thinking of all the stars she'd meet.

Dylan sat back in his seat and blinked, equally surprised as Lai if not more so. He was Mike's roommate for six months and was more than well aware of his living habits. They lost a pet turtle on his side of the room and to this day he still didn't know what happened to it. "Well um... yes." He cleared his throat. "This is certainly turning out to be a night of surprises," Dylan said and chuckled slightly.
"Is the premiere in New York again or in Los Angeles this time? You never mentioned it- oh hi guys!" He smiled at Mason and Tracy as they got back to the table. It was so good to see them again after so long, and he had to admit that he was truly impressed how much they had grown up. Tracy was as sweet as ever, but matured much more. Just from the way she walked and from the look in her eyes, Dylan knew that troubles and darkness of life had jaded her spirit. He was happy to see though, that it hadn't crushed it completely.
"So hey Mason when did you learn how to dance? Well dance like that, I know you like going to clubs and bars, but wow I never thought I would see you dance to the classics like that," he teased lightly and raised his wine to them. "You really did a number on him Tracy, I'm impressed. Did you teach him any other tricks, like what a salad fork is?" He had to laugh slightly at that, and even more at the look on Mason's face. Though Dylan was always rather quiet, he did enjoy busting his friend's chops once in awhile, and this one was a classic.

"Laugh it up Boy Genius, I'm damn proud that I learned how to literally sweep my girl off her feet," Mason growled out as they approached the table. He leaned down to nuzzle Tracy's ear and whisper quietly as they got closer. "Don't worry doll, those two are tough, and both damn good at keeping things private. They'll get through it, and I got no problem helping them out where needed," he whispered to reassure her a little.
Mason could sort of empathize with her worries, being that he had the same himself. He found a friend in Aideen from the minute Cyclops introduced her as a new team member. She was quiet and observant, and extremely hard to get a read on or get close to. Mason worked his ass off to gain her trust and more so to get her talking, but it was worth it. She became a true friend, and those don't come through very often. Logan had always been a favorite out of the teachers, and in truth he was still getting used to seeing the guy look content with life the way he had been the past couple of days. It would be a shame to see that stop, but Mason had a bit more faith in Aideen and Logan's cunningness and skill at sneaking around, the two would probably have a great time doing that. His concern was Logan keeping himself from killing Rumble when they got back, and that was just from how edgy he had been this weekend when Stones kept hitting on Aideen, and the stuff he did was nothing compared to Rumble.
He pulled out the chair for Tracy and sat in his own, looking over at them with a smirk. "It's cool though, I surprised Trace with it last night. Aideen taught me," Mason said with a smirk and looked back at them. "I'll say this though, she never looked like she was having this much fun teaching me. Then again it took awhile to get through anything without me falling on my ass." He glanced at Aideen on the dance floor, and realized just how much fun both of them looked to be having. Her hips seemed to move eagerly into Logan with a relaxed grace compared to how stiff she had been with him, and Logan on the other hand looked like he was having a damn good time moving his hands all over her for all the moves. So that's what the appeal he thought with a smirk before turning back to the group.
Mason looked at them with an almost sheepish look on his face. "That's uh why I had to replace the stretching bar on the wall in the gym that one day. I fell into it and it broke." Mason grinned slightly and shrugged. "It was worth it though, seeing the look of shock and confusion on her face last night. Priceless, that's what it was," he said with a laugh. He looked made a move for the wine bottles and looked over at Tracy. "Red or White Dollface?" Mason poured her the wine she desired and then poured himself the red wine. "So hows life working out for you guys? I mean hey, you both got some nice looking ladies, what about the jobs? You surviving it okay?" Just as he asked that, the waiter came over with a tray of steaming hot towels for them to wipe their hands with. "Oh wow. This place is the real deal huh?"

Ingrid giggled and took another sip of her wine before setting it down to take a towel from the tray that was offered. She gently wiped down her hands, the warm moist cloth threading through her fingers gently. "This is a very proper one. They bring you a plate of hot towels before every meal for your hands. I think it is a nice change than where we went two weeks ago," she said with a grin and looked over at Mike. "Pardon me, but I have never seen 'Coyote's All you can eat Buffet and Pub,' as a classy evening out." She winked at him and placed her now cold towel on the other plate the waiter was holding for the used towels.
Her dove grey eyes slid over to the couple on the dance floor, and she had to admire the fluidity of the movements. She loved dancing, and as a dancer she always appreciated seeing people who moved so well. It was obvious that the band may have shared her opinion, as they played eager for the couple dancing, now joined by an elderly couple that danced slowly to the music. "She is very good... very disciplined. I am not surprised she taught you, I imagine she did well if you surprised your sweetheart," Ingrid observed softly and winked at Tracy.
She placed her hand on Dylan's thigh gently and looked up at him with a smile. "I will say this, when I first met Dylan it was work, work, and more work. I think he has more of a balance now." She started giggling as she bit her lip, thinking back to when they first met. "I met him at a charity banquet for Cancer research, where S.H.I.E.L.D agents were attending out of a formal invite. I had a little too much to drink you see, and I twirled on the dance floor and fell right into Dylan. I have never been so mortified in my life!" Ingrid put a hand over her face as her cheeks turned red again.
"Oh don't laugh, Dylan was just as embarrassed as I was and he spilled his drink all over my dress, but he was the perfect gentlemen." She leaned over and kissed the corner of his lips gently. "He helped me up and led me over to wipe the drink out, all while telling me the best substances used to get out Triple Sec stains, and the components of those stains and how it was discovered. I was flabbergasted and fascinated!" Ingrid giggled again and laced her fingers with his, squeezing them. "Since then it's history! But I am proud to say I made him more time off work, and he is all the better for it," she said with pride and took a glass of wine again.

A toothy snarl that passed for a grin curled his lips up as he spun her and looking down he got into a very Charleston looking bit of footwork and the look on his face became intense for a moment as he did his best to give her a challenge as well as not step on the flowing gown that was split up to her hip. "Heh, I love it when you sweat baby. The smell of you drives me wild." He raised an eyebrow as he regarded the look on her face and the hairs tickling their way down from her up-do to frame her face and toss her so pristine look just a step toward the wild side. A glance back to the table and he considered the show she had mentioned a moment before. "And no- I think you're doing great keeping everything in place, so no elbows and no slouching." He Twirled her out and pulled her back picking up speed as he did and side stepped to pull her all the way around himself leading her into a ready position for a toss. "This should be enough show..ready?" He pressed her out and when he brought her back in he picked her up by her hips to push her up in the air. Then when he brought her down he took her from his one hip then up and down to his other. He knew the gown wasn't meant for that style of dance but he could handle the added weight, compensating for the way it threw off the balance of the moves, and he was careful to not show off all her goods. Aideen in his arms was light as a kitten, and when he finally set her back on her feet he let her breathe a little and kept it simple. As the song played out with some blasting horns at the end he nodded his head slightly to her. "I could go all night, but maybe we oughta make an appearance at the table 'fore they ferget our names." He made that their last song, at least for this bit of dancing and when it ended he kissed her hand by way of a thank you and led her off back to the table. A smattering of applause for the band and possibly their efforts as well floated on the air and he gave a nod to the old man still leading his lady around the dance floor as if to say 'Show em how it's done'. Logan thought about it and playfully considered that he might have known the man from some other time, some war or another, but he was just having a moment of reminiscence. Pulling out the chair for his Angel Eyed love he gave a slight push in as she settled in her seat and adjusted his tie. Sitting down himself he looked at the faces of their dinner companions and cleared his throat gruffly as he reached for his beer. "To changing with the times." he toasted and when they'd all raised a glass he winked and with a low chuckle he took a long pull of his dark draft.

"Here, here," Dylan said raising his glass and taking a sip of his wine, taking the time to taste it and truly appreciate the quality of the wine. "This really is amazing wine. You know, the only other place in Massachusetts that serves this wine is O'Connor's Tavern on the South end. For some reason, all the other restaurants are not allowed to serve it. It's actually a really smart move because it adds to the exclusivity of the wine itself." He was swirling the rich red wine in his glass the whole time as he spoke and looked up at the others sheepishly almost.
"Well anyways, oh Logan I didn't know you knew how to dance. Every school dance and prom we've been through, you were either not there or sitting on the side with a cigar. I never even figured you to be the dancing type," Dylan said and turned to Mike with an almost pointed look on his face. "See there are things that surprise me, you can't use the argument of me knowing everything to win an argument with Lai anymore." He grinned and took another sip of the wine just as the waiter came by with their soups and salads. The waiters all set the their dishes in front of them, one even refilling the wine glasses that needed it. "Bon Appétit Mesdemoiselles et Messieurs," one waiter said stepping away.
"Merci," Dylan said and picked up his spoon, swirling the Shrimp bisque around in the bowl before scooping some on the spoon and tasting it, amplified taste buds and all. "Mmmmm. This is really delicious. Shrimp bisque has always been a favorite." He started eating his soup and looked around at the table at the others. "So how's everything been at the school since we left? I still write Dr. McCoy often, and I do exchange emails with Scott from time to time. What are the students like? Are they different when it was us? Well logically they are always different, but I have to wonder what the kids are like now that I can't see it for myself. Oh and how are the-" Dylan stopped himself and gave a fleeting glance at Lai before correcting himself. "Emma's group? Have you and Norrison killed each other yet Mason?" He smiled at Mason, remembering the intense hate between Inflict and Mason from the second the Hellions joined the school.

"Whatchu talkin bout Dylan?" Mike said turning his head at an odd angle. "Me and Lai argue? Hey my friend, you have been misinformed... What we do, it's not arguing, not by a long shot genius. No, what that is my friend, that is foreplay." He winked at his old team captain and chuckled.
"Besides I never claimed you knew everything. Not after that time you had no idea about pissing on your feet to cure athlete's foot." He reached over to thump Ironclad in the chest. "He didn't know. Heh. Yeah, so common sense stuff you sometimes lack, but argue? Us? Never." He looked at his date and waggled his eyebrows at her. "Right baby?"

Tracy's mouth dropped open slightly at the disgusting revelation of where Mason must have learned his peeing in the shower trick from and a moment passed before she shook it off. Turning to Logan and Aideen she held her glass up to them and said "I would like to toast to the Dancing King and Queen with a special thanks to you Aideen for teaching my man how to shake his ass." She then brought her glass around to the rest of the table and said "And to lessons learned from old friends... where would we be without them?" She was alluding to the peeing in the shower trick that she was sure Mike had taught all the guys in the locker room showers, but also to Dylan and the lesson she taught him about how to kiss.
He was the classic stereotypical awkward boy genius when it came to matters more intimate. Tracy, though herself a novice having never kissed before, she had fantasized about what her first kiss would be like. Dylan, however, shattered her fantasy with a too stiff lipped and then too open mouthed first try so she had to help him out. With a soft smile she nodded across the table at him in remembrance of the afternoon by the side of the lake that it happened.
Sipping her wine she thought of the school and the changes that had come to it. "MMmm- You guys really should see the kids we have there now. Oh God and Br-" she stopped herself before she said Brock's name "brutal, just brutal, there are a couple that are just too much. Hey this is actually the weekend of the annual spring cookout, so let me say that I am so happy to be here and not there. I can only imagine the bumps and bruises, and maybe even a few broken bones that I would have to tend to. Really I've lucked out not having to get called back to help out."

"Aw I don't know, I always like the cookouts. Man but this stuff is good," Mason said digging into his steak tartar. It just looked like a glob of uncooked meat, but it was damn good. "Remember last year when we played that game of football in the rain Trace? I don't think that I've ever seen Burns happier than he was that day with all the girls covers in mud and their t-shirts plastered to their chest. Course that only lasted till he took Logan's last beer and there was another near death round and half hour of Burns screaming his head off running around the mansion." He chuckled a bit under his breath. "Good times man."
Mason didn't know how much Dylan and Mike told their girls about the school and them being mutants, but he wasn't taking any chances. "It's an interesting bunch, I'll say that. There's this kid there, Sean who is a whiz with machines. He's the reason I got such supped up muscle sitting in the parking lot of this place. I told that Valet that I know the millage of my car and if its any different when I get it back, there will be hell. You gotta check it out later Mike, I'll let you take a peek under the hood," he said with a smirk and took a sip of the wine. "Well anyways, uh Emma's kids are the same as always, Norrison is as spoiled as ever, going through five damn cars a year. He started dating Rose too, and she's a peach, a rotten peach but hey whatever works." Mason was staying far away from the topic of Rumble, not quite knowing how to approach it or even say it. It wasn't like he could say 'Oh and Brock, yea he's great, just spending his days obsessing over Aideen here. So how's you're soup?'. He chose to just move on.
"The rest of the kids are interesting enough though. Bobby is back at the school by the way, its a blast. Oh yea and we got this really awesome Native American guy named Mato. He's a Shaman from his village and just wow. The kid's younger than me, but just so... I don't know insightful I guess. He seems to know so much about everything, and gives you a whole new view on life when you talk to him. He really amazes me whenever I talk to him," Mason said shaking his head in amazement, thinking of his friend fondly. He really couldn't believe how much that kid seemed to know about everything in life, and how whenever Mason came to him with a problem, he left feeling better and knowing what to do. "It's alright overall, but I guess sometimes things are heavy enough for us to need a break from there."
He finished up his starter, which was relatively small and looked over at Aideen with a grin. "Damn girl, I oughta thank you for not killing me all those times I fell. That dancing stuff, it ain't an easy thing. Then again, if you were gonna teach me in that dress, I mighta been a better student. That's why Tracy tutors me English wearing something low cut, and I'm getting Bs." Mason was flat out teasing her now, trying to get her to loosen up a little. "I don't think I ever saw your bare legs before now. It's too early to be my birthday, what's the occasion?" he teased with a chuckle, taking in his friend's slightly disheveled appearance and the light flush to her dark skin. "I'm telling you guys, it must be a holy day or something."

Gingerly wrapping her fingers around the cool step of the wine glass, Aideen's dark eyes peered at Mason, the dark liquid chocolate of her eyes sparking with a flame rising from the irises of her for just a moment as she looked at her infuriating friend. The endorphins that were released from dancing had an obvious effect on her, though she still sat as straight and proper as any lady, her gaze on the other occupants at the table relaxed. It was in the firebender's nature to be wary of her surroundings and of all around her. It was how she was with every person she ever met, sizing them up before she decided how to react around them. Most of the time, it was a quick assessment, because time was always of the essence. No one at the table gave her a reason to feel suspicious, and Logan's assurance was a big part of that.
"Do you need a napkin to wipe that slop off your snout?" Aideen said glaring at him. "You're a male chauvinistic piglet." Not many at the table, if any, would understand the Groucho Marx reference, but it put a bit of good humor in her mind. She ate her Asparagus and Goat Cheese salad slowly, taking dainty neat bites from the modest portion. Using the hand on her lap, she smoothed of the velvet material of her dress so her legs weren't exposed by the slit. She was never without a weapon, and as her legs tucked together, the cool metal handle of a slim built 7 inch Yarborough knife was strapped on her inner thigh, opposite of the leg that the slit in her dress exposed. She had a small bodice dagger tucked safely into the front of her corset. Aideen never took a chance, and even in a fancy restaurant in the safest part of town, she was not going to be left unprepared.
"Dancing is very much like any other form of training. With patience, precision, and dedication, one can master it on all levels as they would with anything else," She said in her soft voice between savory bites of her salad. "The elegant three step twirl of standard ballroom dancing can be compared to, say the same quick and precise motion in changing the magazine on a Beretta 92. Three simple and quick steps mastered with time. To capture the seductive nature in a Flamenco dance is no different than learning to shoot two guns at the same time. Both take a certain grasp of skill and eventually it comes to you with ease." It was her first effort to say anything at all, and as Aideen reached to take another sip of her wine, she shot Logan a pointed look as if to say 'there I loosened up.' She pushed a stray curl that fell from her elegant hairstyle during the dance behind her ear gingerly, placing the glass back on the table.

Slamming a hand flat down on the table Mike threw back his head and laughed. "AH HAA HA Ha haa... Give him a little more time to grow. He'll be a full-blown pig soon enough!" He gave a big thumbs up to his boy Mason and made that annoying click sound with his tongue -LOUDLY. Then pointing a finger at Aideen he said "You play a good game little miss manners, all prim and proper, we all thought you'd never open up. Ya even had me goin, but come off it sweetheart what do you really know about guns cause now you're speakin my language."
Looking at his girl and giving her his standard wink to let her know he wasn't being disrespectful, just his regular charming ass self, he turned back to challenge Aideen. "And if it's just as easy as guns then maybe you and me take a twirl after dinner, school me up on this whole 'dancing thing'." He moved around in his seat, some might say swaying to the music, others ...might not. "Lai's been after me to learn for a while now, says I move like a baboon." He glanced over to Logan, nodding his approval of the woman seated across from him and at the same time checking to see if he would show any signs of minding if he danced with her.
"Look" he said to the rest of them seated at the table "I told you all she needed was a little time to warm up to us. Hey no woman can resist the charm once I start to pour it on. Right Lai? Tell em baby, tell em bout when your folks came out with us that night." He leaned forward plopping an elbow down hard enough on the table to shake the drinks and offered up a start to the story. "It was some occasion or other, but anyway... OK, so her mother was hating me and then I turned on the charm." He glanced back to the young woman to whom his heart really did belong, even if he was too oblivious to see it and asked her, in his own 'special top secret' form of manners "Tell em hun- go on, you tell it so good. Funny story."

Lai rolled her eyes a little and gave Mike an incisive look. "First off, I said you dance like a baboon with two club feet and blind in one eye," she said with a serious look for a minute before she started laughing. "Oh man, girl if he cons you into showing him a move, I don't envy you. He actually sprained my toe once the one time I tried to show some standard ballroom dancing." Lai patted Mike's knee affectionately, drumming her pink painted nails lightly before moving her hand away. "My parents came to see my debut concert at the school where I played first string, and then we went out to dinner. Well," she looked over at Mike and then back at the others.
"It was a complete disaster. My mother you see, is French and my father is from Wakanda, and both are very proper and traditional. This Baboon here comments to my mother how he sees where I got my 'assets' from while we were seated the table, horrifying I think all of us. My father was very insulted, and my mother was speechless. I was just waiting to disappear into the floor. The whole meal was just something from hell. He asked my father if they wore loincloths in Wakanda on windy days, shocked my mother again when he implied not so subtly that about me being a 'pistol' in bed. And yet SOMEHOW, against just about every probable factor in existence, by the end of the dinner both my parents were smiling and my father invited Mike to spend the summer at our summer home in Barbados," Lai said laughing and shaking her head in disbelief still at how that dinner that started off as a total disaster ended rather well.
"I still don't know what to think of that night, it was just... well one of a kind what can I say." She finished up her soup and laughed again, shaking her head. "Thank god there was no dancing at that restaurant, the last thing I needed was him try and show off only to end up knocking into someone, big lug he is," Lai said with an affectionate tone looking at Mike. She liked that he was built like a massive football player, even if it did make him clumsy and awkward. "This dinner, I say is going much better than the one with my parents, especially since the Ice Queen here sparked herself to life."
