Watching as she normally did the silent Hope got herself out from the back of the strangely lengthened car and went to the back to get her things. Opening the back and getting her bags out she gave a soft grunt as the larger of them was hauled out. She had of course, not packed all that lightly, using a wheeled suitcase to ease the weight. that didn't mean it was any easier to lift.
still, it gave her the chance to listen to the people in the garage. It was a strange experience; for one there was a clearly blue girl. She looked like she had been dipped in food coloring or paint the way her skin seemed to shine the same. It made her stand and gawp for a while before she stared in awe at the winged horse. Apparently for some of the others it seemed halfway normal, but for Hope this was completely new and if she was honest very intimidating. The way everyone seemed so comfortable around each other made her wonder how she thought about other mutants.
Pulling her bag away from the back of the car she walked slowly over to the strange horse creature. Her face twitching into a smile. She didn't reach out to stroke it though. Her earlier incident with Dor had made her a little more conservative at least for today in how she did things. No touching. Rule 1.
It would have been nice to talk to the animal though, she always felt bad when she couldn't talk to animals. So many people had claimed it made them easier to befriend, Hope would be of no use in those situations. Perhaps if she touched an animal she would imitate their noise. The only animal she had researched to have no vocal chord and in that case would be safe was a giraffe! And she highly doubted she could have one as a pet.
'Shame, it's a pretty thing. Mom would be so jealous. She loved horses.' She smiled a little bigger, ignoring both Dors yelling at the things around him and even max's comment on her being a wierdo. She was good at blocking people out.

"Whoa, hey guy is that your car?" Sheldon asked the kid who had gotten out of the Bugatti. "That is a piece of art. Hey Max when your done with that piece of eye candy you need to see that car over there." He called over to his little brother. It didn't bother Sheldon in the least that his kid brother had done him one better. It was actually a good feeling he had inside, like the boy was taking after him and he was already making a name for himself at his new school. That was important for a guy, make it known what kind of a man he was.
The kid that turned into smoke was creepy and looked to be a bit older, so he figured Max wouldn't have too much contact with him. That was good, in his estimation since a bad element always lurked in the halls of private schools from what he'd heard from brothers in his Fraternity that had transfered. "Whoa, what's with that kid." he said under his breath. Just then he heard the door of his car shut and the weird red head girl got out.
"Hey what's up little girl?" Sheldon spun to try and catch her before she reached into his driver window to grab the handle on the floor in front of the driver's seat and pop the trunk, but he was too late. "Hey! Deaf girl? I think she's deaf or something, real silent type" he said to anybody that was listening as the girl rolled off with her bag dragging behind her "-YO!! Do you see how far we are from the school? You want to roll your little bag all the way or what?"
He shrugged at her as she seemed to not hear him. "Whatever." It was pretty obvious that common sense wasn't her mutant power.

waving her hand away at the elder boy, Hope began making the hand signals to indicate her wishing to walk yes, to let her actually see the place on her own. She was used to doing things alone and she needed some time to think. Of course, halfway through her hand gestures she realized the minority of people able to understand and let them drop to the ground. Instead she just nodded her head in a very obvious manor. Very few people got her. She was an awkward girl, she didn't; socialize outside her close circle back home and very few people had known she was a mutant there anyway. So, many times she would wander off by herself; often for the entire day, taking in things people tended to ignore. Plus, she was trying to think about not touching anyone so much it was distracting her from her thoughts. Instead, she returned to her bag and retrieved the previously used pad of paper and a pen. Flicking for a new page she simply wrote. She smiled at the elder male as she showed him the note, offering her thanks was what she felt was in order. Sometimes however she just needed to be familiar with her own behaviors. Plus, writing meant she could finally say something.

The Cheshire cat grin that had left Jocelyn's face momentarily when Shade left was back as the kid from the car that had been staring at her came up to the little group. "Well, look at this, I am SO glad that you managed to pick your jaw off the floor and come on over. And don't let my natural air of mischief fool you, I actually do consider that quite a feat," Jocelyn said with a grin, bumping her hip against his playfully. Him coming up at that moment was actually the perfect thing that could have happened to shake Joce out of her revere at Shade coming up.
Not many would probably ever get their friendship, but she didn't care. The bottom line was that Jocelyn just got him and she attached herself to him to the point where he couldn't push her away if he tried. After the crazy weekend they had and Jocelyn seeing what he had to deal with on a daily basis, well now at this point she didn't like to be away from him for too long, especially since on top of all that he also was there for her at a rare moment where Jocelyn found herself helpless. She knew he'd probably disappear once they got back to school, but that wasn't going to stop her from sneaking into his room later on and curling up next to him like she had for the past two nights.
Her cerulean eyes flickered to the girl that came out of the car, giving her a once over. She was cute, but definitely not Joce's type. She's always liked girls that had an edge to them, that extra something that made her head snap back and look at them. Not every girl had it, but those that did, whoa did she enjoy looking at them from all angles. Finding that her interest was mild, she moved back to the fun she was having with the two boys next to her, though she knew she'd have to take it easy cause Dane looked like he was going to burst a blood vessel holding in his laughter. "It's cool Max, not everyone can play it as cool as you, even if they do have a sick car," She said with a cute wink, bringing the rose up to her lips and twirling it gently.
"But let's see this car of yours, now I'm curious too." Her ink black hair whipped behind her as she looked at the car closely. She didn't know any names that well, since for the last two years she'd been underwater were cars didn't exist, but she loved to feel the power of a car under her as she rode in it. Jocelyn looked back at the kid that came up, trying to figure out if he was Middle Eastern or Arabian, she wasn't sure. He was a good looking guy though, and it just tickled her that she made him speechless. "You gonna show us or you gonna stand here and drool over Dane?" Jocelyn looked back at the Black Knight and grinned. "I know I promised fangirls, but I so totally forgot about the fanboys too. Have fun with that Dane," she added with a giggle.

"Yep, fanboys and fangirls are all a knight has some days." Dane was all smiles at the attention, so was Strider who showed his elation by nickering softly and bringing his muzzle to Jocelyn's petal soft hand for more of the same. Yet finding her leaving he turned around and followed her into the garage. "Hey bubba, where do you think you're goin?" Dane said, as even his horse fell prey to the wiles of the blue babydoll from under the sea.
"Hi kid, nice ride." With a slap on Jax's shoulder he stepped lively to grab the reigns of his mount before a stretching of wings might take out a shelving unit or tear a garage door off it's moorings. "Gotcha fella, you always want to go indoors, what is that. I don't get it? Hmm, Bugatti Veyron.. nice! Who woulda guessed that I actually walked on the same stones where this car was built, alongside Clovis the Merovingian King a couple of centuries ago that is. Guy had what was thought to be the Holy Grail in his possession. I know I never would have guessed it myself, but Grail quests are funny like that." He mused absentmindedly as he looked over the lines of the glorified Volkswagen with appreciation.
"Turned out not to be the cup, but hey you guys all know how that story goes right? So I ain't gonna bore ya." He looked up at the faces of the kids and saw not much but blankness in the stares coming back at him. "What? This is a school right? You do study history and literature right? Sheesh," he shook his head "never heard of the Holy Grail." He said to himself. "You know they make movies about it too.. anybody?"
"Ahh nevermind." he grinned and threw an arm around Kelly's neck catching him in a playful headlock. "Kelly! What was that girl's name from the movie? Painted herself half blue, remember that actress? You know you can never forget a blue girl." He looked right at Max, who after today Dane was sure, would never forget a blue girl ever again and waggled his eyebrows at him. He had been upstaged before.. when he was with other, more well known heroes like Captain America or Iron Man, but never by a fresh faced half Atlantean girl. It was funny to him so he laughed heartedly remembering Max's reaction to their azure friend.

Max blinked slowly. Dane was having some sort of muscle spasm, his eyebrows dancing about his face. He thought it was incredibly dangerous for someone with such obviously unstable twitches to operate a flying horse, but then again what did he know? The guy was talking about cups and movies... Max cast a quick look to his brother, trying to gauge what his reaction should be. So long as Sheldon wasn't looking too concerned, Max would keep his pen capped.
Clearing his throat, Max gently unlaced his fingers from Jocelyns and wandered closer to the winged steed. He kept a respectful distance, looking over its angles with interest. He had drawn things like this before, but they had some… mechanical issues. Their wings hadn’t been functional… ah, there. It was in the joint, that careful place where wing met shoulder. He had drawn the muscle far too narrow. He couldn’t help but start tapping his pen against his hip. It had been so long, so so long since he had been able to use his power for himself… maybe later he’d try for his own flying horse again. A small smile ticked up the corner of his mouth as he finished his intense inspection. The others were oooing and awing over some fancy looking car that Max couldn’t have cared less about.
He spared the other girl a fleeting glance as she took her bag and trundled away. It was a bit rude. Introductions, a first chance to make an impression were important and she had just blown off several of the school’s residents. He moved again to stand beside his brother, sliding up his shades to rub at his tired eyes. Four days sleeping in a sports car and eating crappy food left him not at his best, but Max stood tall, hands shoved in his pockets.

Jax didn't look twice at the girl who'd walked away- whatever man. Right now, he was seriously reconsidering the whole dream scenario. The Black Knight was here... and everyone was admiring his car?! Jax loved his baby n' all, but man there was somethin' wrong with these people. But hey ho, he wasn't gonna complain. All of this was boostin' his ego. His eyes fell on the blue chick, who sure had a sharp tongue and a minxy kinda attitude to her, and then moved to the other guy- the non-silent one who was admirin' his car and then Dane. "The one and only, man. Ah, this baby's a beauty." Jax smirked, walking casually towrads his car and leaning against the hood.
"It's raced against a plane, nearly beat it s'well." Jax shrugged, eyeing his car for a mo. "aaand It has a sick sound system-" Jax pressed his lips together, his eyes set on everyone, yet his mind workin' on the inside of the car. His music system blasted up loud for a short span of eight seconds, (just to be different) I'd Come For You by Nickleback being the lucky song that was being played. Jax was showing off- it was only so obvious, but perhaps not to everyone just yet. He didn't even know if the people realized that that the music'd gone up without Jax touching or changing anything physically at all- but when they did, man Jax wanted to see their reaction.
"Pretty sweet, huh?" Jax smirked, "I woulda taken you for a spin- but you guys just got outta a car- doubt you wanna go for another ride, huh? and on top of that, I don't have my keys." Jax shrugged, folding his muscular arms across his well built chest- his eyes wandering away from the group for a mo'. "Whose the dude in the car?" he asked, his eyes zero-ing on the guy. He looked like he was having major issues- it almost reminded Jax of the pounding headaches he got when he was downloading too much sh*t into his head.

"Man if I had a car like that, I'd get even more chicks than I do now," Kelly said, sitting on the trunk of Ariel's car despite her protests and was sipping his soda, now chilling out that giggles were over and all that was left was a craving for soda, gummi bears, fritos, bear claws, pudding, and for dessert: hot dogs. "I mean really, I would be adding to the cars awesomeness though, cause like I'm hot you know, so chicks expect me to drive a hot car, and when I do it just makes me like a billion times hotter, if possible." He looked at the empty soda bottle and then turned it into bottle shaped corn dog.
He was bobbing his head up and down to a song that could only be heard in one Kelly Burns's head, which was currently Queen's 'We Will Rock You'. Looking over at Jocelyn with a mouthful of corn dog, Kelly just started cracking up really loud when he saw the guys following her like horny goats and trying not to trip in their own puddle of drool. "Man you guahs arl gana be so maa whe yoou fin ou da chic dun wike dik," he said with his mouth full, barely discernible to anyone else as he was talking, eating, and laughing all at once. After years of practice, Kelly Burns was finally able to multi task like that and not choke himself.
Swallowing the food from his mouth, Kelly still bobbed his head up and down rather stupidly with a big smile on his face. "Man Joce, I don't blame them though, you got some serious knockers. I mean they are really some serious melons there, the really juicy looking kind. You're like the blue Emma Frost man, and getting higher since you always got those little shirts on. I love little shirts man, I bet God made them just for me as a reward for being so hot," he nodded his head with the same grin and ate his corn dog, staring off into space as his thoughts were consumed by the lovely squishy pillows women had for him to play with and the ladies who had them.

Sheldon nearly choked on the piece of gum he was putting into his mouth as he caught most of what the guy sitting on the trunk of the Mustang said through his - bottle turned into a corndog!?! What the Fuhh..? Then he straightened up and nodded a thanks to the guy who was probably another of the college kids since he looked about his own age. Stepping up to the Bugatti he leaned over to reach under a fender and feel the width of the tire. "Don't really know who that kid is back there. Said he could talk to the car out there though and keeps telling everybody, or maybe every thing to shut up and knock it off. I think he's got problems that nobody out in the world could fix or somethin, good thing this school is here for your kind and uh, all the problems that-" he stopped talking, knowing he was digging himself into a hole and having learned the hard way that no amount of digging could make a hole like that any shallower. It just wasn't possible to dig OUT of a hole, besides Sheldon wasn't prejudice he had just misspoke. "Lots of rubber here to move." He said changing subjects to break the tension as he stood up and dusted his hand off on his jeans. "I saw that show too, where they raced the Veyron against that fighter jet. I don't believe it though, I'm thinking it's fast sure, but I wonder if THAT car, that one right there can't take it."he pointed to the wonky looking extended Saturn Sky sitting in the road just outside the garage. "You know my little brother here" he wrapped an arm around Max's shoulders pulling him strategically away from the blue skinned girl with a yank. He realized now thanks to Snack Attack on the trunk what it was that he had glimpsed earlier, and he wondered if this school had a softball team. "He's pretty much able to work miracles, he did all the work on that thing himself. He took it back to the drawing board ya know, and did what he does, so I bet it could take that thing." He nodded his head to the Bugatti. Sheldon gave Max a couple of play punched to the ribs as he pulled him aside to whisper "Watch yourself with that blue girl, I don't think she playin for our team if ya get what I'm sayin. Now, look, if this guy takes the bait on this I'll race him. All you gotta do is make the Sky faster than that Bugatti." The look on Max's face right then didn't instill much confidence. "I dunno, draw like speed lines comin out of the back of it, a whole bunch till it's faster, or hell put a 'win' button on the dashboard or somethin, it'll be fun. How's that for a first impression, but only if you want to Max. I ain't like Mom and Dad, all this would be for is your rep, not for me kid brother- all for you." Sheldon smiled, his competitive spirit coming out now that he was back in a school environment. "Look The Black Knight can judge it." He said back to the rich kid, as he looked up from the 'private meeting' he was having with his brother. The smug looking -arms folded over his chest- punk had to be a rich kid, the car sure wasn't bought with his own money. That much Sheldon knew for sure. He already didn't like the kid, he didn't much like people who profited from the work of others, it hit too close to home. "Is there anyone you trust more than a Knight from the Round Table? I mean come ON."

Jax scoffed at the kid- that car, race against his Bugatti- what were the odds man? Jax was gonna win it. Easy, hands down. No matter what kinda work they did on that car. It was too easy in Jax's opinion- and on any other day he woulda agree'd to it as well, just to rub it in their faces, but today they had a bit of a technical glitch. "I say you're pretty damn outta yer head to think your car's got a chance against a Bugatti if you've seen that episode of Top Gear, man." Jax cocked an eyebrow at the guy, his eyes lookin' pretty damn bored.
Jax wasn't stupid- he figured that the other guy probably had some tricks up his sleeve or sommin', otherwise why would anyone even think about bettin' against the odds- but hey, either way, no matter how much of a funky trick that kid may have up his sleeve- he wasn't gonna be able to beat Jax. Hell to the no. "Either way man- even though your offers temptin', I'm gonna have to pass. I don't have my keys." Jax smirked, cocking his head to one side. "Cyclops' got all three o' my sets and this baby ain't gonna run without a key." And I sure as hell ain't riskin' damaging the Veyron by drivin' it using my head. I don't have enough concentration for that just yeeet. And that kid's bound to pull off something.
Jax shrugged, movin' outta his leanin' against the hood casually with his arms across his chest position and startin' to walk towards the dark haired guy in the car who looked like he had headache. Jax'd let the Bet-Guy's comment pass earlier- about the whole problems deal, but he wasn't gonna let it slide completely. "Hey, you alright man?" Jax asked, knowing how bad it was gettin' killer headaches 'cause of your power. Jax wasn't trying to be buddy buddy or anything, but this kinda thing could be dangerous for ya- and even though Jax wasn't the carin' types at all, he wouldn't just stand there and let someone go down danger-hole.
"Is it 'cause of your power?" Jax asked, still lookin' at the guy. He didn't know about the med facilities here at the school yet- he hadn't needed to pop down there, but it only made sense for them to have some kinda inhouse doc. One of the slightly older kids could help 'im. Seemed like the Blue chick and her mates from the car weren't exactly newbies. Jax looked away from the car dude for a mo', his eyes fallin' over at Bet-Guy.
"And we don't have problems, dude. We have powers. And- our kind? I think you meant Mutants." Jax's tone remained calm throughout, but his eyes held a look as if just waitin' for Bet-Guy to challange him. Jax may be an arrogant jackass, but he wasn't gonna have some guy come in and be all ackward about Mutants. He'd had enough of that back home- with his pa constanty referring to him as having issues. Jax'd had enough of people trying to ignore what he- what other gifted people were. They were mutants, they'd been around for a while, and it was about time people started gettin' freakin' used to it.

Dor wasn’t much interested in what was going on outside the Sky. Blue women were all well and good, and a Buggati was a hot car for certain, but he wasn’t about to start drooling over either of them. Not with the migraine he was getting, and especially not with the Black Knight’s helmet laughing maniacally about the Atlantean… Atlantean?!? being into the chickies. Why waste his time? And a drag race just sounded like a bad idea. They had already nearly mowed down the blue girl thanks to Sheldon’s driving, did they really need to go all Grand Theft Auto five minutes after arriving? Somehow he doubted that his father would appreciate a phone call from Emma Frost regarding misbehavior on his part so soon. That wouldn’t look good and Jamesons… well, they were all about image. But over the yelling, the singing, the chanting, and the fake fart sounds from the sneakers belonging to the kid on the back of the mustang, Dor heard Sheldon comment on his ‘problem’.
Dor spared the guy that had come over a brief glance and nodded, fingers jammed so far into his own ears he was certain he felt a bit a’brain at his fingertips. "Ah'm fine, Chande." He picked up the kid’s name off his Hollister shirt, his drawl thick as mud. “Ain’t nothing Ah can’t handle. No problem.” Dor made sure to say the last bit loud enough for Sheldon to hear as he got out of the car and joined the others.
Dor slowly worked his fingers free of his ears and looked around the small group, wincing as the inanimates in his immediate area vied for his attention. In a matter of moments he knew who he was dealing with and what they could do… no, his power was no problem at all. It just got a bit punchy when there was a lot of clutter. Brain feeling like it was about to explode out his nose, Dor smirked at Sheldon. “Ah would be careful if Ah were you, fella. You don’t want to piss off the wrong sort of our kind. That one could turn you to flan,” he pointed to Kelly, “And that one can turn yah into one crispy critter. Isn’t that right, Ariel?” Dor nodded to the older girl and clapped his classmate’s brother on the back. “And Ah, can cause my fair share of trouble as well, so let’s all just play nice.”
Hand still on Sheldon’s shoulder, Dor pushed his power out from his fingertips into Sheldon’s t-shirt before letting go. With a hard sort of smile, Dor plugged his ears back up to wait for the fun. It wasn’t like the guy hadn’t been warned. It had been the first thing that Dor had said when he sat down with Max and Sheldon at the restaurant. He was an omnilinguist of sorts… and an amateur animator. The next time Sheldon’s t-shirt spoke, Dor wouldn’t be the only one to hear it.

Max had no idea his brother was talking about. A car race a plane and win? That was very interesting. He looked at the sleek car with new respect and vowed that he would be back out here when he was settled to examine the Buggati further. He shot his older brother blank look and tried to follow everything that was being said without ogling the kid that was eating his recyclables. A 'win' button? Lines coming out the back... Sheldon clearly read too many comics. It was Max's intentions behind the drawing that effected the manifestation, and even then, things had a fifty/fifty chance of being a bust. If he rushed a drawing, than it would manifest sub-par and often useless. If he didn't get the mechanics right... useless again. It would be easier to mess with the Buggati than amp up the Sky on the fly like that. Mind whirring, Max contemplated things that could speed up the already wonky convertible... and then let out a sigh of relief as the owner of the other car declined the race.
"Sheldon. I believe people would find us more agreeable if you stopped trying to be so helpful." Max knew perfectly well that Sheldon hadn't insulted the group on purpose, but there was still a bit of a sting hearing his big brother refer to Max’s ‘kind'. Max had never really considered himself and Sheldon as different breeds before and the thought settled rather uncomfortably in his stomach. When Dorian wandered over, adding his two cents, Max shot the curly haired hick a hard look from behind his Ray-Bans before nodding to the rich kid that had claimed ownership to the Buggati. “Maybe another time then,” he said politely. “In fact, I may insist on it.” He fingered the rim of his glasses, and looked around the garage with interest.
Suddenly remembering something his brother had said, Max looked at Sheldon, confusion on his otherwise serious face. “We’re on a team?” he questioned not bothering to keep his voice down. “What team? How do you know that Jocelyn’s not on it?”

A very uncharacteristic snort left Mato at the last statement of the boy with the dexterous Toucan flying around him. It wasn't until he arrived at the school did he learn what certain expressions and slang meant and how they were used. He'd heard that expression only once before when Mason described his discomfort to some of the boys in the school staring at him. He shook his head as he caught Jocelyn's eye and smiled all the more. She had far too much fun with the newcomers, but Mato would not be the one to ruin her fun.
"Should Cyclops catch you racing with that car, I do believe you may lose all privileges of the car," he warned, taking his bag and swinging it over his shoulders. "I do believe it is time for me to unpack and settle back home before the evening is upon us." A kind smile spread on his face as he looked over at Ariel. "Thank you for inviting me on the trip. It was certainly the most interesting trip I have taken in a while. Jocelyn," he turned to the lovely blue Atlantean and bowed his head to her. "It was a pleasure to spend this weekend getting to know you. I hope we can spend more time in the future together." He did mean that, as the blue beauty was certainly interesting company and a joy to be near. From the mere annoyance that came from Shade before he departed, it might be harder than he thought to spend an extended period of time with her.
Mato looked to the Black Knight and his magnificent steed and bowed to them as well. "Until later my friends, may your time here be enjoyable." He need not thank Dane for everything again, as the Black Knight knew how he felt and there was no doubt he'd see him again later in the day. "It was a pleasure meeting you all, until later." Mato nodded at them before he bowed again and walked off with his pack over his shoulder, happy to be back to his home away from home.

With a softer smile coming on her face, Jocelyn waved at Mato as he left, blowing his a kiss when he looked back at her. She liked him a lot too, and after this weekend she definitely wanted to get to know him a little more, if only for the chance to get an inside look to how he sees everything. Mato was a really cool guy and a good friend for sure, and she already had plans to bother him again soon. "Kelly you have a big mouth by the way. I was having fun!" She punched Kelly lightly on the shoulder before turning around to wink at Max.
"Don't worry, I cheer for all the teams," Jocelyn said with a wink and ran her hand over the Bugatti's sleek body that looked very well taken care of. She loved flirting and loved even more the attention she was getting just for being herself. As Joce saw it, she was a guy's best friend: free eye candy and no pressure to perform and impress. It might be just because she was so used to guys and how they acted around girls, growing up with Kelly Burns and Shade was a good reason for it.
Her cerulean eyes that were previous giving Max a flirtatious look to the kid with the hot Southern Accent, eyes narrowing in curiosity. "So we got a telepath on our hands? My, my, we haven't had one of you guys in a while. Should definitely make life..." Her hand slipped up the hood of the car casually ans a suggestive smirk came on her face. "Interesting. You better be careful with that mind reading around here Sugar, it could get you in some serious trouble." Atlanteans didn't welcome mind readers she had come to learn, though her uncle spoke of Emma Frost very fondly more than once. Still, she didn't like the idea of her mind being violated by a little kid like that.

Dor grinned and waved off Jocelyn’s concern. “Ah ain’t a telepath, darlin. Ah’m just a run a’the mill linguist. Ah can hear inanimate objects. You’d be surprised how much they have to say… for instance, climb off the ‘stang there, Burns. You’re pissin the lady off.” Dor gestured to the Mustang. "She's a classy car, treat her nice."
He didn’t bother hiding the laughter in his voice. No, he was no telepath. They had limits. People could hide their minds.
