Though the plane ride was not the best trip ever for Romon, as being stuck next to a woman with a screaming baby for three hours didn't exactly qualify as a smooth ride. However, the last hour he spent here at the arcade was so worth it. Not only did he get the new high score in Dance Dance Revolution, but he made nice with a couple of the teenagers that hung out in the arcade and it wasn't all too bad. He told those who asked that he was visiting a relative in a town nearby and was waiting to be picked up. Romon took the warning Ms. Frost gave him about the town being very anti-mutant to heart, and he didn't want to risk a riot before he even got to the school.
His time at the arcade was drawing to a close though, as he checked the time on his phone and realized that his ride was due to be there soon. Romon said goodbye to the new friends he made in town, exchanging numbers with several of them before grabbing his large duffel and his soccer ball and making his way out in front of the arcade. It was already dark out and most of the street lights were on, but it was kind of nice. Romon zipped up his sweatshirt, as it was much colder up North than it was down in Mississippi and Jamaica. He walked over to the side of the arcade and set his duffel on the floor, kicking around his soccer ball as he waited for his ride. The time was getting close to when Ms. Frost told him to expect someone and she assured him no matter where he was in town, they'd know where. He figured it had something to do with her being a World Class Psychic, but he still didn't want to go all over town and make things difficult.
There were a couple of people walking the streets, some couples and some by themselves. Romon even noticed one couple having what looked like a private moment, embracing each other and talking. He wasn't planning on making small talk after the day he had, so he settled for playing with the soccer ball and getting lost in some thoughts. It was really hard for him to say goodbye to his family, since they were all really close. His mom was crying when he got on the plane, but she was always a little emotional when any of the kids left. Really his mom always reminded him of Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show with her attitude towards her job and towards his dad. It helped that she was significantly younger than his dad as well. He was really going to miss his brothers and sisters, but he'd keep in touch with them, and the select friends he left behind that didn't shun him for being a mutant.
It's not going to be so bad to start over here. Ms. Frost said there are a lot of students and she thinks I'll do good in the school. I can't ask for anything more than a fresh start, and I guess I will get it. I wonder what it will be like though, and what the people will be like, he thought as he hit the soccer ball with his knees. Romon must have been thinking too hard, because the he hit the ball a little too hard and it hit the guy that was hugging the girl right on the back of his knees. Romon's eyes grew wide and he dashed forward to grab the soccer ball. "I am so sorry!" he said with his Jamaican accent heard clearly. Growing up in Jamaica, the accent was stuck with him permanently. "Really I am, I didn't realize how hard I was hitting it and I messed up the angle." He did feel bad for ruining what looked like a moment and he would have hated it if someone did that to him when he was having a moment with a pretty girl.

Gavin had smiled at Heather and just finished telling her that he was glad and was going to give Bobby a call then when something hit him out of nowhere on the back of his knees. "Huh what the-" He looked around behind and saw a tall guy with dreads and a heavy Jamaican accent, apologizing. "Aw no worries man, it's cool. I been known to throw stray balls myself. Basketballs, Soccer Ball, even volleyballs. Right Heather?" Gavin nudged her slightly with grin, trying to cheer her up.
Honestly he was glad that something like this happened to break up the moment, cause he felt constrained. Like there was nothing he could do but pathetically stand there and feel bad for hurting her feelings. It wasn't exactly fun for Gavin and he didn't know what to do to make it better, or really if there was anything to be done to make it better. He welcomed the distraction and hey, he was cool enough to start up a conversation with anyone really, and now seemed as good a time as any, since Heather didn't seem to want to talk to him all that much.
"That's a cool accent man. Jamaican? Man I got used to so many different accents that it's crazy. One of my teachers is German and his accent is fairly heavy. I know a girl who got a cute uhh Finlandian? I don't know she's from Finland and has a cute accent," he said looking confused as he tried to figure out the word. During that time he got his phone out and texted Bobby to come pick them up by the arcade and capitalized 'SOON' since he didn't want to add to to discomfort of the situation.

"Finnish accent," she said correcting Gavin. It was great timing for the Jamaican guy to come in when he did. Heather really didn't know what else to do or say after hugging the guy that just sorta dumped her; there really was no term for what had just happened between Heather and Gavin. She just knew that she was pretty bummed out and upset. Eventually she would get over it, but she didn't believe it would be quick like when she liked Ian. This was deeper and way more different.
"It's alright guy," she said to the Jamaican sounding boy. "No worries." She smiled, assuring the soccer player that all was well and dandy. She was really glad that Gavin was able to talk to him a bit so Heather could think to herself even if it was for only several seconds. As a whole, Heather was really really annoyed. The entire night was just... not great and she wanted to go home and sleep in her bed. She knew that Veronika was going to stay up for her and want every single detail. And she knew that Veronika might have had the words "I told you so" stored in the back of her head for such an occasion. Not that Veronika would have said those exact words, but definitely implied them in some way.
What Heather really wanted to do was talk to Ana or Jasper about what happened. Heck even Riker was a great person to talk to about what had just happened. But with Riker she would have picked to tell second or third out of the three. He was a bit overprotective over Heather and she learned that earlier in the Med Lab. But he was like a big brother to her and she was more than thankful for that.
Turning her attention back to the two boys, Heather stood there and kept her smile, not really knowing what to say or even wanting to.

A polite smile worked it's way on Romon's face, surprised that the couple wasn't at least annoyed at him for interrupting their moment. "I was born in Jamaica and lived there till I was about ten. I have never heard a... Finnish accent yes? But German accents are very interesting," he said with a slight smile, still holding his soccer ball. The guy seemed really cool, and Romon was glad that he wasn't angry or upset, and the girl was incredibly pretty, though she looked a bit sad. He didn't want to get involved with any problems that might be occurring.
"Again pardon me, I did not mean to interrupt anything. I am just waiting for my ride, and I will leave you both to go back to what you were doing. I am sorry again for interrupting," Romon said as he left to go back to his duffel bag. Though neither had been angered, both looked like they had a lot on their mind and he felt odd for intruding, even if they were being polite. He gave them both a smile, still feeling bad that he ruined their moment. Backing up, he went over to where his bag sat and started playing with the soccer ball again, eyes constantly peering down the road to see if some car was coming toward the arcade.

Waving off again to Ricki and Maddy who looked to be seriously enjoying their time together, Bobby pulled out of the driveway and headed to town again. He got the text from Heather and Gavin just as he got in the car, and he figured it was perfect timing. As he was driving down the road to town, he saw two motorcycles coming toward, one he recognized instantly as Ember's as most people in the school knew by now how it sounded. He stuck his hand out to wave and then stopped as he looked at the other motorcyclist in confusion. "Is that Logan?" Bobby said to himself, confused as hell. "Na, that don't look like his bike and why would he be with her when he got suspended or whatever." He shook his head and figured it was just another motorcyclist passing by, they went too fast for him to get a good look. He did however manage to spot Mason and Tracy not far behind with Mason's precious car looking serious trashed.
~HONK~ ~HONK~[/i] Bobby stuck his head out and waved at them as he passed by. From the state of Mason's car, he could definitely tell they had an interesting time. The drive to town was smooth, and even though it was dark and the streetlights were on, it wasn't too bad. The arcade was in the center of town and at this time in a small town like this, there were barely any cars around. He drove right up to the arcade and instantly spotted Gavin and Heather standing in front of the streetlight.
~HONK~ ~HOOOOOONK~[/i] "Alright kiddies time to go home! All I gotta do is find-" He cut himself off as he saw the kid standing next to the alley by the arcade and squinted as Gavin and Heather got in the car. "Romon?" When the guy looked up, Bobby recognized him from the image Emma implanted in his mind and grinned, waving him over. "C'mon I'm here to take you to Xavier's. Welcome!" He opened the trunk so Romon could toss his bag in there and waited for him to get into the car. "Man I'm like a chauffeur today, I should seriously think of opening up a Limo business."

"Oh damn, you're a- uh going to Xavier's too? Man who woulda thought, this was like a chance meeting here," Gavin said with a grin as he helped Heather into the car, moving over to make room for the guy that Bobby called Romon. He figured that Heather needed her space, and he might as well give it to her now since she didn't look like she wanted to talk at all. "My name's Gavin, nice to meet you man." He stuck his hand out to the kid to shake after all the doors were closed and Iceman started driving off.
"Man, you're gonna love it there. I mean stuff's a little crazy, but it can be a whole lot of fun to. Most of the people are pretty cool, and the best part is," A big grin came on Gavin's face now. "Is that there is no shortage on pretty girls, as you see here." He indicated with his head to Heather, and winked at her, hoping to keep the mood light so no one would realize how tense the situation was between him and pretty blonde.
"What's your power anyways? Before you ask, you'll see my power when we get out the car and I take my jacket off. I got what I call an impressive pair of wings under here," Gavin said with a smile, itching to take off his jacket so he could finally be comfortable. He hated folding his wings in and really wasn't too used to it as he once was since he never hid them at school. He liked having his wings spread out and loose, free for him to use whenever he pleased.

Can this car be any slower? Heather was really not in a good mood and Gavin was right to think she didn't want to talk. She didn't want to talk to anyone. When Bobby finally came to get them it was a sign from God and she thanked him an infinite amount of times before finally getting into the back seat. She thanked Gavin for helping her into the car but really didn't want to. Was she bitter? Oh yeah. And frankly she didn't care if she was overreacting. In her eyes, she was upset so she had the right to have her space and just do what she wanted as long as it didn't bother anyone else.
Seeing that the new kid (one of seventy-five today), was in the middle of her and Gavin, made her relax a bit. She didn't want to have that awkward silence in the car, and was dreading the ride home since she thought Bobby would start asking questions about how the date went. Thankfully Romon was there to divert the conversation to him rather than her and Gavin.
She got more and more irritated, seeing that Gavin really just didn't know how to stop bothering her. First the pretty girls comment and then him winking? She understood he was trying to keep things at an even keel, but come on... she told him point blank she was upset with him and would be for a while. When it came to telling the truth, Heather always did unless it was a big necessity to lie. She hated lying to people she cared about because it made her dishonest and obviously not trustworthy. So she always treated others the way she wanted to be treated. In this situation, Gavin was pushing her buttons without him even meaning to.
She looked out the window and glanced over to Gavin quickly, showing him a very very small smile before looking back outside. She couldn't wait to get home and she felt bad for Romon since he sorta came in at the wrong time. Of course it wasn't his fault but Heather never pretended to be in a good mood when she wasn't. And right now, she wasn't.

There was still a tense feeling in the air, despite Gavin and the oddly familiar guy in the front seat acting really warm and cool. Romon didn't want to add to it, and tried not to look uncomfortable in the atmosphere. "It is nice to meet you. I am Romon Campbell," he said with a friendly smile, shaking Gavin's hand. "Ah my abilities are a bit complex to understand. As best as I may explain it, I am able to increase the speed of things and movements." He did not want to get into the technicalities of his power as M. Frost explained it to him, and figured that was the simplest explanation.
"I was also told I am on a team called the Acolytes. It is different for a school to have teams, but I suppose you cannot get much different than a mutant school," Romon said with a slight smile as he relaxed into the seat. He was a long way from home, and curious as to what his new life would be like, everything from the people to the road that lay ahead for him. He glanced briefly at the girl called Heather, who did not seem the least bit interested or inclined to join in the conversation. Gavin was right about one thing, she sure was pretty. Her hair looked just like Dana's , his ex-girlfriend, hair, but that's where the similarities ended.
After she dumped Romon when she found out he was a mutant, he really didn't want to think about her, or all the people who turned their backs on him just because he was born with a gene that gave him powers. It wasn't like he chose it, but that was people for you. The same people who complained about being victims of prejudice or racism where the ones who looked at mutants with disgust, and because of that Romon couldn't understand how people could work like that. Shaking himself away from the trail his mind wandered off to, Romon looked up front on the dark country road they drove on and looked at the others. "Is it a long drive to the school?"

"Acolytes are a good bunch man, you'll like 'em. Hell I'll put in a good word for you," Bobby said with a grin as he drove up the road carefully since the street lights were far apart on this road. "You'll like it here. I mean sometimes things get a little crazy, but all in all it's a good place. I can guarantee you'll make friends here quickly, and hell Gavin wasn't lying about there being no shortage of pretty girls. You got an awesome preview right here! Right Heather?" He winked at her, trying to coax a smile out of her since she looked a bit bummed.
It wasn't that long ago since Bobby was a teenager and experiencing the same trials of the heart as he watched many students go through at the school. Just from Gavin's persistence to keep things light and Heather, who usually could talk his ear off almost as good as Ricki could, was sitting there quiet as ever and refusing to look at anyone. It did make Bobby feel bad when he knew one of his kids were hurting, but as Emma and others told him time and time again, he had a tendency to care too much, but he wasn't going to apologize for it. The kids needed someone to worry and care about them here, and since he was one of the teachers closest to the students in general, he happily took that burden upon his shoulders.
"The school should come into view right about... NOW!" Bobby said just as they turned the corner and the X-Mansion came into view in all it's wondrous glory, now lit up by the lights surrounding the school. "Pretty sweet huh? Wait till you see the inside!" He grinned at them through the rear view mirror and went to park right in the garage since it was the last trip of the night, and bring another student to start their new life at Xavier's, just as he did all those years ago.
