Now that the sun had set and she had relaxed for a bit in her room, just laying on her bed, staring at the ceiling and thinking, Lorelai decided to head down and make some food, but not before grabbing her iPod and putting on a random song. Figure it was one that wasn't exactly mirroring her cheery mood, but she went along with it. Like the majority of her music she listened to, she got into it and began humming the tune on her slowed-down walk to the kitchen and heard the lyrics as they resounded in her head:
If you're not the one then why does my soul feel glad today? If you're not the one then why does my hand fit yours this way? If you are not mine then why does your heart return my call? If you are not mine would I have the strength to stand at all?
I never know what the future brings But I know you are here with me now We'll make it through And I hope you are the one I share my life with
I don't wanna run away but I can't take it, I don't understand If I'm not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am? Is there any way that I can stay in your arms?
If I don't need you then why am I crying on my bed? If I don't need you then why does your name resound in my head? If you're not for me then why does this distance maim my life? If you're not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife?
I don't know why you're so far away But I know that this **much** is true We'll make it through And I hope you are the one I share my life with And I wish that you could be the one I die with And I'm praying you're the one I build my home with I hope I love you all my life.....
She kept humming along to the tune lowly as she made her way along. The song finally finished and moved on to another one as she got to the surprisingly empty kitchen. She tilted her head in slight confusion as she figured at least someone would be in the kitchen since everyone was always hungry it seemed.
Either way, she shrugged to herself and put a pot of water on the stove and started it up, in the mood to cook something for herself. She rummaged through the cupboards looking for a box of plain uncooked pasta and a jar of cheese sauce. She was going to make some quick and easy macaroni and cheese like she used to at home and she looked forward to eating it. Luckily she managed to find a pound box of macaroni, about six meals if she was lucky since her sister would always try to eat the majority of it at once. She waited for the water to boil and thought of what she'd have with it. She'd just fry some hot dogs with it for all she cared, it was food.
Seeing the cleaned frying pans used from the pancake frenzy, she took one and placed it on the stove for when she would be ready to start frying the hot dogs, which would be when the pasta would be almost done cooking. But for now, as she waited for the water to begin boiling, she just stood at the edge of the counter and leaned against it with her arms crossed over her chest, and heaved a sigh as the song again changed after playing the whole length.

After the long flight, Sean sure was hungry. He could go for a nice big juicy steak and maybe some corn on the cob. His mom made the best corn on the cob. All nice and buttery. And he himself could cook a mean steak. But steaks are best on a grill, and it was just too damn cold up in the North to grill outside at this time of the year. That's alright though, Sean wasn't hard to please. He would make do as long as his stomach was full.
When he finally found the kitchen after searching for it for maybe fifteen minutes. This place sure was big. Hopefully he'll get used to it soon. Sean smelled some kind of fried food.... hot dogs! The hot dogs at the fairs were always a favorite of his. That was also where the singing he heard earlier was coming from. He followed his nose and found himself in the kitchen where a girl with blue hair was cooking. He had never seen anyone with an unnatural colored hair, but it was cool.
A friendly smile appeared on Sean's face as he looked at the girl. "Howdy miss. It sure smells mighty good in here. The smell is what brought me here," he said with a smile as he tipped his brown cowboy hat at her. "Pardon me miss, my name is Sean Winterstar. I just got here today. I was told by the lovely Headmistress that my codename is TuneUP," he said as he held out his hand with the same freindly smile on his face.

Lorelai saw a boy she hadn't seen before come in and so while he looked at what she was making, she paused her music because it was still playing before she might miss something he said, and she didn't want to seem rude for being unable to listen to someone. Her parents reprimanded her for it countless times and took out an earbud. She returned the friendly smile and laughed a little, "Thanks, and hello," smiling as he tipped his hat, something she rarely ever saw. She listened as he spoke and smiled again, "Ah, it's nice to meet you Sean, or TuneUP," she said, and then took his hand to lightly shake it as she introduced herself, "I'm Lorelai Kavanagh, codename Frostbite."
She smiled as she took her hand back since she saw the water was starting to boil, and so she poured in the pasta and let it begin cooking, and watched carefully as the hot dogs began to fry on the pan. Every so often she'd stir the pasta so it wouldnt burn to the bottom, but she turned back to Sean and smiled. "So do you like the school so far?" she asked, making light conversation.

Heather headed to the kitchen, her stomach growling more than before. She was beginning to hate the organ for it always complained to her lately. The smell of meat filled the air around her and she smiled at the heavenly aroma. Someone definitely knew how to cook and she couldn't wait to see who.
She stepped up to the entrance of the kitchen and saw a familiar face with blue hair looking her way. Heather gasped quietly and spun back to the side of the entrance. Damn it, she thought. I can never avoid this girl. She sighed and thought of her options. She could either confront her problems with Lorelai head on, ignore her forever without any good reason, or apologize for the way she had acted toward her since they first started the "war". In reality, Lorelai had already won. Ian was hers and the only thing Heather was now doing was alienating from Ian as well. And they were officially friends.
Heather sighed again and plopped her head down. Looking at her bare feet she wiggled her toes, making sure she wasn't still sleeping, and closed her eyes. Guess I should end this, she finally thought. She bit her lip and walked into the kitchen. She winced at Lorelai and didn't even notice the fair haired boy speaking with her. "Hey Lorelai," she said softly. "Look...I...I just wanted to apologize for my....behavior...toward you the past couple of weeks." She bit her lip harder, hating the next words that came out of her mouth. "So...I'm sorry..."

"Sean is just fine, Ms. Lorelai. And thank you the school seems alright. It's mighty big though I'll say that," He said with a smile as he opened the fride to look for some coldcuts. "Would ye like some help with the cookin'? I'm a pretty mean cook in my family," Sean offered. Afterall, his mom raised him to always offer his assistance to a lady.
He found some bread and brought it on the counter along with the coldcuts and slices of cheese he found in the fridge. Also the mayonaise and mustard. No good sandwich is without that. Sean began making his very meaty and stacked sandwich when he looked over at Lorelai. "Would ye like a sandwich too? As I said I'm a pretty mean cook, which includes sandwich making," he said with a grin. As he made his sandwhich Sean looked at her curiously. "If you don't mind, can you tell me a bit about this here school? It'd be nice to know a bit about it since I didn't get to here much," he asked politely thinking about how Dr. McCoy had to run off to deal with that couple who were in the room together. Whoowee was that not pleasant.

Lorelai smiled as Sean offered to help her cook; it was nice of him to ask as she saw him go through the fridge for coldcuts. "Alright, if you want to help frying the hot dogs?" she asked with a smile, and was about to turn around to stir the pasta when she heard someone else come in. Heather, looking awkward and as if she were about to leave. Lorelai let out a little sigh as it looked like she were going to leave, and then come back. Her surprise only increased when she came up to her and...apologized. It looked like she was having some difficulty with it, but Lorelai overlooked it because she had been trying to patch things up with her for a bit. "It's okay, Heather, and I'm sorry for how I acted too," she answered with an attempted reassuring smile.
Realizing that Sean had asked her a question, she smiled apologetically for having ignored him. "Oh, this school is for mutants our age who have only just come into our powers. We're to learn control and to further develop them. But Heather here has been here longer than I so she may be a better person to ask," she said, giving Heather a small smile as she turned back to the pasta to stir it since it had been a good few minutes and the water was boiling quite nicely. She remembered she still had an earbud in her ear and decided to play a song low but keep listening to the others. The song that came on reminded her of Ian and she wondered when he'd come down to eat since like all typical boys she knew, food is life, aside from tv and sports.

Heather smiled back, happy that Lorelai knew she was at fault as well. Good, everything was patched up and done. Surprisingly, Heather felt much better than she had the past several weeks and smiled wider. The weight had come off her and she had accepted the fact that Ian was her friend and that was that. Better to have him in her life than not at all.
She blinked when she realized Lorelai mention her name to the new boy. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't even see you there." She nodded to him when Lorelai mentioned she was there longer. "Well I was here a couple of weeks before but yes. We are in a nutshell what Lorelai said but there is much more to that." She looked to what Lorelai was cook and licked her lips. Hotdogs and pasta, no better combination. She looked back to the fair haired boy and waited for his response.

Sean looked over as another girl came in and looked awkwardly at Lorelai. It looked like they were patching some things up. That's always good, life's too short to fight over every little thing. He smiled at the girl apologetically and tipped his cowboy hat towards her. "Pardon me mam for not introducing myself sooner. I just got here ys see. My name is Sean Winterstar," he said in his western drawl and gave her a friendly smile. "It's always nice to see two friends patchin' things up between them."
He turned to Lorelai and smiled at her. "Of course Ms. Lorelai I'd love to," he said easily and abandoned his two finished sandwiches to take over the frying. He was pretty good at this too. Sean looked over at the girl and smiled. "Would ye like some food too Miss? I'm sure I can whip ye up somethin' mighty fast," he said with a friendly smile. It was just in his nature to be nice and Ms. Frost did say that everyone was mighty nice here. "Maybe you can tell me what this school is like," he said to the light haired girl.

Heather smiled to the boy who introduced himself as Sean. His southern drawl was a bit comical but suited him perfectly. The academy had its own cowboy now. He seemed charming and very gentleman like. She liked that about him. He was attractive but not really into him. She was still trying to officially get over Ian before she would even think about liking anyone else. However making new friends always was her forte.
"Very nice to meet you Sean," she said warmly. "I'm Heather McCarthy, or Aqua around here." She looked to Lorelai. "Want some more help dude?" she asked casually. She no longer felt the awkwardness anymore between her and the blue haired ice girl. She looked back to Sean and responded. "Well so far the school has been great. Some...events...have occured but nothing too bad." She didn't want to scare Sean away if she mentioned the Brotherhood attack. That was something Ms. Frost and/or Cyclops would speak to him about on their own if they haven't already.

Lorelai smiled at Heather as she kindly offered help but shook her head. "Thank you, but the pasta is just about done," she answered, looking at it again and saw that it was cooked. She gave it a last stir and turned off the burner, grabbing a strainer and two potholders for her hands, figuring out a way to double them up to protect her hands from the blunt heat that the pot emanated. She moved quickly so she didn't have to hold the pot for long and quickly strained the macaroni and put the pot back on the stove, and then moved the strained pasta back to the steaming pot.
She picked up the jar and opened it, pouring the yummy double cheddar sauce into the pasta and stealing a lick off the lid as she put it back down after pouring out all she could get out of it. Stirring it up swiftly but without accidentally knocking out any macaroni, she mixed it together till the cheese got around everywhere. It looked good. Turning to Sean as he spoke to Heather, she glanced at the frying hot dogs and flipped them so they'd fry evenly. The ends were already starting to open up so she knew they were done, so it would be maybe another minute before she'd take them off and the three of them would have a nice little dinner.
Her iPod still played softly in her ear as she did all this and listened to Heather recall vaguely a few of the things significant about the school. She smiled to herself as one of her favorite songs, This is How I Disappear by My Chemical Romance came on, and was about to start humming again, but remembered that she was around people and she'd prefer to be considered someone relatively normal in their own mutant standard rather than one who was a bit paranormal.

"Whoa there Ms. Lorelai, I got it. I wasn't lyin' to ye when I said I could cook," Sean said as he carefully took the frying pan that she somehow managed to get from him. As he watched them simmer to perfection, he turned back to Heather. "It's real nice to meet you Heather. Aqua is your codename huh? Must mean you got something to do with water," Sean said as he picked up a potholder and took out a plate. He picked up the frying pan and slid all the hot dogs onto the plate before he brought the pan over to the sink and turned on the cold water to rinse off the pan. Steam filled the area as the hot pan sizziled from being touched with instant cold water.
Sean went over to the plate of hot dogs and brought it over on the table next to his sandwich. "Does anything that happened have to do with all the construction goin' on outside? Looks like some kinda bad storm hit ya'll out there," he said as he grabbed two more plates and set them on the counter for the girls. "It sure smells mighty good in here. Thank you very much Lorelai. It's real nice of ye to cook so much food and be willing to share, " he said as he gave her a friendly smile. He wiped his hands and leaned down to wipe some grease off of his brown cowboy boots. At least this was a worn in pair. He straightened up and adjusted the collar of his plaid shirt still keeping the easy smile as he began to look through the drawers for some utensils.

Heather smiled to Sean. "Very nice to meet you as well," she replied. "And some what," she smirked when he asked about her power. She liked to surprise people with that issue. She sat down in the table and couldn't wait to have the delicious smelling food that filled the air. One thing she loved was well cooked food and watching Lorelai and Sean make it happen, made her more happy.
She looked to Sean when he asked about the construction in the front of the school. She bit her lip for she spoke too much. She nodded slowly and said "Yeah but Ms. Frost or Cyclops will fill you in on that," she said hoping he would drop the subject. She felt thirsty and went to the fridge. She saw the pitcher of water and shrugged. Looks like a fine choice, she thought. "Anyone want a drink?" she asked warmly to the two fellow mutants.

"I could use a drink of water, if it ain't too much trouble," Sean said when he heard Heather's offer. It had been a long day for him and he hadn't had a drink since he got off the plane. He realized then how thirsty he was. A nice cool drink would suit him just fine. Sean took a couple of pieces of hot dogs onto the plate with the his large sandwich.
So far so good, he thought as he looked at the two girls keeping the smile on his face. After all, he did want to make a good impression being that he was new and all. He wondered if there were any cars around that he could work with or something, cause he would sure miss that if he wasn't able too.
"How many of these hot dogs would ya'll like?" Sean asked the girls ready to serve them, seeing as he was the gentleman. He wondered what the other students were like here. Hopefully as nice as the two that he had the pleasure of meeting.

Lorelai smiled and nodded at Heather's offer over her softly playing music, "I could go for some water as well if you don't mind," she answered, looking from her to Sean to the pot of macaroni and cheese. She smiled at both of them, and then at the mention of the hot dogs, she turned around to the cabinets to get three plates since there were three of them, but saw she didn't need to.
"I'll have....two hot dogs please and thank you," she said to Sean with a smile, "But hold on to mine till you guys have your food though," she requested as she picked up a plate and piled some macaroni and cheese on to it and then putting it down. "This can be yours Heather if you like, or whoever's," she said, picking up the second plate and put the same amount on it. She picked up Sean's plate last and maneuvered another portion on his, along with his sandwich and hot dogs. Now all that was needed was the hot dogs and her and Heather's meals would be set save the silverware. "Dig in you guys, and you're welcome. I don't mind sharing good food," she said with another smile, and then giggled as another song she liked came on, one from one of her favorite movies, Moulin Rouge. It was the one that both Satine and Christian sang to reassure each other when things were bad, and it always made her smile to hear it.

Heather nodded when she heard both wanted water. Good, she thought. I can tease Sean with a bit of Lorelai's help. She smirked to herself and brought out the pitcher of water. As she placed it on the counter, she remembered that she needed to get glasses first. She walked to the cabinet and retrieved 3 glasses. Balancing them to the table, Heather graciously put them by each chair and returned to the counter.
"I'll have two hot dogs please," she said to Sean warmly. He seemed nice. And she was happy that the new guy wasn't someone rude or believed they were "holier than thou" like Onyx or Haven. She shook her head at the thought of the two and bit her lip. Erasing them from her mind, Heather looked to Lorelai as she spoke. "Thanks," she said. "I love Mac and Cheese," she said with a smile. Heather brought the pitcher of water to the table and sat down. "Oh and I never had the chance to ask if you liked my pancakes this morning," she said jokingly. This was good. She was slowly getting over the whole Ian and Lorelai thing and being...."nice". The great part about apologizing was that Lorelai returned the apology as well. It made the whole thing easier.
She looked to the two and waited for them to sit down.
(if you forgot the name of the song, its Come What May ;D i love it too)
