Emma clutched and gathered the boy in her arms until he finally settled into a position that she could manage. She heard his whisper, but said nothing as she ran and leapt across the landscape. Making sure all the while that she didn't get too far out ahead of Frostbite, and that her "eye in the sky" Ember didn't get too far ahead of them.
She kept them headed the direction of the mental fix she had on Scott's position. She vowed to herself she would not lose him again. "Keep headed for that big rock over there- the red one!" she said sarcastically. All the rocks were big ...and red.

While running, Frostbite tried to pace her breathing because looking ahead of the group she could see that they were obviously going to run a ways to find Cyclops. I have to be extra careful, once I'm out of energy, I'm done, and I'm sure I won't easily get it back, if at all. However, we can't afford to stop, so I won't let myself become a liability of slowing everyone down and causing more trouble. I'll deal, like I always manage to, somehow, she thought to herself as she worked to keep her breath from becoming too heavy. She'd be useless if she couldn't move along with them, and she reminded herself of that as she kept following Miss Frost.

The heat sinked into Aideen's tanned skin as she shot through the air, managing to stay on the path the Headmistress directed and also keep an eye out for any potential threats, as they were heading near the direction where she was sure she heard noises coming from earlier. As they went further, Aideen saw she was right. From the corner of her vision she spotted a small cluster of demons. They are not an immediate threat.... but I should not risk that. I will need to hold up the rear. The rest must go and help Cyclops. She flew lower so Emma Frost would be able to hear her. "Headmistress, we are not far from a group of demons. Keep going, I'll fall back and cover us if they decide to follow," she said robotically and allowed them to pass her as she brought up the rear after making sure the path ahead was clear.
Aideen brought the flames into her hands to not make them more noticeable as she kept her eyes closely on the group of demons as the others ran head. She was ready for action if any of them took as much a small step toward them. With the safety of a man she had come to not just respect as more than just a superior in question, she would do what was needed to ensure that he was helped in anyway possible. Aideen never knew what a family was like, having her own ripped from her. Her uncle was family of course but he never treated her the way that the families treated each other in films did. The closest she ever had to that was the way Emma Frost looked out for her as what she thought a mother should act and Cyclops treated her in a caring way that she never knew before coming to this school. She supposed it was a mentor like or fatherly way but how she she know? She's a military kid, that stuff wasn't allowed in her upbringing. The point is that she did get a feel of that feeling here and she would treasure it for the rest of her life. It was amazing how little acts that most people don't think twice about meant so much to her.
And right now, Aideen treasured the care she received from Cyclops and Emma to do anything in her power to help them. Anything.

Kevin tried to look at the rock she had said but couldn't get his head around, he was too busy keeping hold of Emma Frost to care about getting her joke. As a matter of fact he didn't even realize she was being funny, not that he would have laughed. He was really hurting now.
His body hadn't fully recoveerde from being part boiled like an egg, and his head was throbbing like a throbbing thing and it hurt so much. He was totally dehidrated and just wished to be back home with a cold glass of milk and maybe an oreo cookie or two.

Making it all the way across the nearly flat plane of land to the area where the rocks began to jut upwards and the ground sloped higher. Emma turned to her crew "Ladies we are nearly there, over the next ridge and we'll be there. Take a minute and catch your breath Frostbite." Then looking up to Ember she called out "Are we all clear?"

The more Frostbite tried to pace herself, the more she found it harder to actually keep it paced. The majority of the run seemed over, since they all stopped before a slope and jutting rocks. Now that she actually got the chance to stop, it all caught up with her and she almost doubled over, but rested her hands on her knees, feeling what felt to her like extra heat on her face and it was all she could breathe in. She tried to not breathe so hard, because the longer she took to catch her breath, the longer she would delay everything, and it was something she was sure none of them wanted.

Aideen stayed back and she kept her firelit eyes on the group of demons. They stayed in their group far ahead, but Aideen was getting more suspicious of one of the smaller demons that kept looking in their direction. The rest seemed to be feasting on the large carcass of some other creature. "All clear. We have to keep moving before those things decide we are more interesting than their food," she reported robotically, just like a good soldier.
Aideen looked over the next ridge longingly, willing to go and fight in the honor of her superiors. No. The Headmistress said to stay with them. I am not aware of the direness of the situation to act without an order. Aideen stayed suspended in the air close to the ground as the flames started licking up her wrists. She alternated her watch between the ridge and the cluster of demons.

When they came to a stop Kevin slid down off of Ms. Frost. He said "I feel like total crud. Ouch my head hurts." He looked at Loralei and frowned, "I'm sorry to cumplain. I know you've been running and I haven't. I, I don't mean to cumplain. I'll shut up, but I just feel really bad and I thought I should say it."
His eyes closed and opened a few times, and they rolled around as if he was a little drunk. He sat down and groaned as the heat from the ground hurt his bottom, but he was too messed up to stand. "Frostbite, I'm sorry you shouldn't have to run alone. I'll run with you." he said as he placed his face in his hands and rested there a moment. It felt like he had to puke and he couldn't get enough air, all the air was so hot, oh so very hot. "Why is it so hot?" he moant.

"You'll not be running anywhere Kevin. I am afraid you are developing heat stroke and if we don't get you hydrated fast you might be hurting for along time." she knew better actually, she knew he wouldn't be hurting for too much longer he would be dead.
"Frostbite can you tap your ice stores for a nice little chunk of ice for our little guy to suck on. It's better than nothing and besides it'll have to do it's all we have." Emma smiled at them both and thought how it might be a good idea to send Ember off to help out Cyclops. Then a moment of clarity washed over her and she knew they had to stick together.

Frostbite watched as she continued to breathe heavily, still leaning her hands on her knees, and heard Hardlight speak. "Don't even - think - about it," she said in between breaths she tried to catch. When Miss Frost asked her to make something more for Hardlight to drink, she nodded slowly, "I'll - try, yeah - hold on," she said, and stood up straight on sore legs. Like earlier, she began to make a small swirl of snow form between shaking hands and let enough gather so that another small ice block formed in between. She took it in her hands and offered it to her teammate. "Here," she muttered, feeling the effect of having that much less energy. All your fault, Lor. Suck it up, just make sure you survive somehow in the process. I just hope that'll be enough for him, I can only do that so much more at this rate, she thought, letting her eyes close to block out everything for a second, opening them and then looking at everyone.

Aideen's fire lit eyes remained on the cluster of demons as they dug into their meal. That will not entertain them long. We cannot waist time if the Headmaster is in danger. Powerful or not, even the most powerful mutant cannot withstand all forces. Like Logan... Aideen's emotional wall cracked a tiny bit before she brought herself back into her warrior-like state.
"Headmistress, we should not rest long. That feast the demons are having will only last so long," she said robotically, glancing anxiously at the ridge once in awhile.

"Oh, thank you Loraleai! I'd be dead without-" he took the ice and pulled it quickly to his lips. The pause in what he was saying giving Frostbite time to think about all she had done by running across his bridge sculpt. It was not intensional as Kevin's only focus was the ice she provided. Frostbite was his teammate and he really thought she was his best friend. He would never try to make her upset.
The ice however, didn't last forever and he opened his eyes once it had fully melted and looked at the ladies saying "Whelp, guess we oughta get going then. I'll do the best I can guys. You can count on me." He nodded his little head and raised up his arms to climb back up into Emma's diamond hard caress.

"Right-O, let's get moving then. Ember says that our 'fellows' out there are getting restless and I'm sure our friends are in need. Hope you're up for this kids." Emma said as she lifted up the young light sculptor. 'This is no place for this young guy, or any of these kids. I might deserve this for all of my past doings, but not them. How could this happen!'
Taking a step she paused and looked back at Frostbite. "It's not much further, you can make this. Hang in there tough girl, you're 'killer tough' and I know you can do this." Emma had no doubt Frostbite would fall out soon, but she didn't want to have to tell the girl that. It was this place, it was hell in a most literal sense and someone who was susceptible to heat was not going to fair well here. It was a shame.
When it did happen though, Emma hoped it was quick for the girl. The least the fates could do for the poor dear was end her painlessly and quickly. The former villain known as the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, soft and sexy in her seductive supple curves yet vicious and heartless as she was then, in contrast now was hard as diamond with a heart broken into a thousand pieces.
She started up the hill. It was more a finger of land, an off shoot from a larger hill that ran down. Regardless she knew that just on the other side of this elevation would be Cyclops, and if she was not mistaken several students, the only one she could say for sure being D'mnchyld. It was strange how the girls psychic signature was so crystal clear and shiny here in this realm.

Still trying to slow her breathing with it only working in the slightest, Frostbite looked at Hardlight when he spoke to her. You don't need to remind me. Only comes to show I'll have to keep away from you so you don't have any more trouble because of me, she thought as she heard that they would have to start running again. Miss Frost's words were slightly encouraging, but she still remained a bit unsure of herself. She just knew she had to get to where they were going, whether she could handle it or not. She'd have to do her best.
She forced herself to take a deep breath as she started up the hill behind her headmistress. Her legs started to feel like they were on fire again but as much as it bothered her she kept moving while trying to keep some control of her breathing. Please let me make it to wherever, she thought to herself as she worked hard to keep up.

Just as the group started to move, the most dreaded thing possible happened to the tired group. The group of demons that were feasting upon the carcass were still hungry and decided that the group was their new target, and began running in their direction. "They've spotted us. Run!" Aideen said and flew into the air over the hill the were on. As the heard of Demon leapers ran toward them, her eyes lit up even more and fire framed her figure in the air. The tips of her long brown hair looked like dancing orange flame as she flew around to catch some of the Demon leaper's attention. They were distracting only momentarily as they continued running towards the hill nearing the bottom of it.
I am to serve and protect my superior with all my power. Spreading her arms and pushing her torso forward, sharp, pointy daggers flew out of her hands, arms, chest, and neck. The daggers rained down on the demons, striking some and missing others. It didn't slow them down much. Hungry creatures, big or small were hard to distract and slow down. Aideen shot powerful firebeams down at some of the creatures, but these were much faster and fueled by hunger. Some dodged her firebeams, some didn't. Their screeches of anger and agony echoed through the air, some so loud they rang slight in her ears.
Needless to say, it slowed them down very little. Aideen was not discouraged though, being fueled by a determination that a warrior possess after years of training. Large fireballs formed in her hands and she began shooting them at the demons in any direction she could. I must protect the life of my peers and my superiors. As the code says, 'In combat for the life of your superiors or those you love, the only options are to come back with your weapon, or your weapon come back with you.' I keep to the code.
