While Tia waited for Rogue to respond, she heard Kelly jump around in excitement, spotting the house himself - for flip sake how MUCH could one person TALK?! She closer her eyes trying to keep herself calm, it wasn't even like he was annoying her, Tia... being herself, was looking for reasons to get even more annoyed at him, even though she didn't realise that she was - it was just something she did all the time, she either liked someone, or didn't like them - there were barely any inbetweens for Tia.
The english boy - Tia still hadn't found out what his name was - this was super creepy ; nodded in agreement to Tia. Rogue looked in the direction that Tia had pointed out and insterted her agreement too, about that being the right place. As the Quinjet headed down, and landed with a thud, Tia felt her head flop forwards and back. And no sooner had Rogue opened the door, Tia felt a gush of cold air hit her. She hugged herself, as un-fastned her seat belt and got out of her seat, squeezing her way out of the Quinjet. No sooner had she stepped out, her teeth began to clench slightly - the wind was bitter.
Her hoodie was keeping her warm - sure thing, but she could feel the blood in her cheeks freeze. Her tip of her ears were probably turning red... Tia was quite sensitive to the cold. She pressed her lips together as she waited outside in one spot, rocking on her legs a bit. She un-wrapped her arms from her stomach, to use them to put her hoodie up, atleast that might keep her ears warm. Well - it didn't work too well, but still, it made her think she was probably warmer. She hugged her stomach again, clenching onto her hoodie as she waited for Rogue's instructions.
Tia wondered if she could possibly calm the wind down a little... it had to help her get warmer, though... she doubted she could just change the wind according to will, she barely had any control over her powers, the most she could do was toss people around in the air when she was seriously pissed off.

Somewhere else entirely....
"Oh, no no no no, NO! This won't do at all! Who was the genius that thought of dogs." the cackling voice rasped in dismay from the darkness of the control room. "This is beyond unusable! If I find out the name of the marketing rep who suggested DOGS! Well, so help me...nooooo- so help him, because I will make an hour long primetime special on the pain of being skinned alive! And I think you all can guess who our subject of observation will be on that show....Now if it's not too much to ask...somebody.........anybody......FIND ME A GOOD CAMERA ANGLE!!!!"

Back at the landing area
Kelly hopped out of the Quinjet and looked up at Rogue with a defiant look on her face. "I'm not scared of Wolverine. I could totally beat him....yea...." he said darting his eyes back and forth as if he expected Wolverine to come jumping from the trees screaming about that damn beer. It didn't matter that Calorie made another batch, he had to have his beer. That guy needs to get laid. Who can be pissed after they bang a hot chick? That's why I'm always in a pleasant mood, he thought.
"Oooh MAN! Snow! Hey Jugs-a-poppin', Ariel let's play in the snow! Snowball fight!" Kelly shouted jumping in the snow and fling snow in every direction while laughing hard as the snow hit the group as they got out of the plane. "Oh and come on Ariel, you know I have to count hot twice cause I mean come on look at me!" he exclaimed as if he was pointing out the obvious. "Its not every guy that gets these fine jaw lines and amazing hair. Not to mention my body, I mean come on!" Kelly said in a loud voice, pretty much pointing out the obvious. "Hey is there a sled on the jet?"

Ariel stepped out of the jet quietly and stayed close to the group. She first rolled her eyes at Kelly, but then a grin crept across her face. She let it fall straight as she walked up to him as she said in a serious voice, "Are you sure Kelly? I think he's in somewhere in the trees," she said, pretending to look around. "Was that just me or did I hear a *SNIKT*?" she asked, looking up at him with widened eyes before looking away, walking closer to the younger kids, shaking with quiet laughter.
As he ran off into the snow, she crossed her arms. "Focus, Kelly," Ariel said, rolling her eyes when he explained himself, swatting the snowballs he threw at her. He really had no idea of the concept of stealth, but then that was one result of going somewhere stoned. Walking back over to him she smacked him hard on the arm and dragged him back to Rogue and the others. "Okay, so what's our plan of approach?" she asked Rogue, her fingernails digging into Kelly's arm whenever he started talking.

At the house
Gavin laughed as he watched his dogs play around in the snow. "You guys are gonna get wet and cold a lot quicker doing that," he said laughing and petted Scooby on the head. "Go on you ol' brute. Go play before I send you lot inside," he said and shooed them off to go play in the snow. Gavin brushed his dark red hair out of his face and looked around waiting for his friends. "Ah they're always late. might as well get comfortable," he said and threw a couple of snowballs at the dogs and watched them try to catch it in their mouths. Gavin laughed again and threw some more, playing around with them.
He sighed as he thought that this was gonna be the last couple of days at home with his dogs. He didn't want to go to boarding school, but he seemed to have little choice in the matter. His parents watch the news along with him and they didn't want him to go through all the persecutions that mutants go through. They felt he'd be safe at an isolated place. He was bummed, but he didn't have any choice so he'd have to take his guitar and live with it.

Back at the landing area
Kris had braced himself for the bumpy landing, but he hadn't expected it to be that bad. "Holy cheese graters that was bumpier than i expected. Miss Rogue did we hit a kid or something? I knew snow was evil, its too pure to be good..." he trailed off, mock glairing at thw white blanket under foot as he stepped out into the chilly open. He knew cold, he lived in Britain before now. Where the rainy season when it wasn't anywhere else. Still, the big cute - yet increadibly thick - guy blocked out most of the cold wind as he stood behind him. Although, he couldn't hide the blush on his cheeks as he practically advertised himself as the sturdy hunk of man ass that he was. And a hot hunk of man ass at that.
'Bad Kris, come on, get a hold of yourself. You remember what happened when Dominic caught you eyeing him up. This guy looks strong, you know martial arts but your a wuss.' he mentally told himself, looking around the jet at the white picturesque image around him. He didn't like how everything was dead in the snow, he felt a little sickat the gut; but nothing too bad as the surrounding trees made him perk up a little. "Yea, what the pretty girl said, what are we gonna do. Got a search and rescue idea going? buddie up and all that rubbish?" He asked with a grin, he liked to joke but at least he meant well.

Rogue put the Quinjet in 'Rest Mode' and got off the jet, landing on the ground softly. "Kelly Burns, Ah mean it, ya better behave yourself to this new boy. We don't know what he's like and Ah won't have ya scarin' the daylights out of him with yo' antics," she warned and closed up the Quinjet and stuffed the access keys deep into her pockets. "The walk ain't all that far ya'll. No need for buddyin' up and all that. We're all goin' together and we're all goin' ta be on our best behavior. Got it? Good. Now hold on ya'll, Ah'm gonna find us a path," she said to the kids winking at them. "Hang tight for a sec ya'll."
Easily as can be Rogue rose up in the air, bracing herself against the harsh wind. She went high in the air and looked for a good path toward the house. She looked for a moment before a smile came on her face. Straight path, nice and neat just how Ah like it, she thought and came back down to the kids. "Alright ya'll, there is a straight path from the lake ta that house right behind that bush there. Ah'm guessin' his family comes here often," Rogue said and smiled at the kids.
"We oughta be protected from this crazy wind on the path. C'mon ya'll lets go!" she said and walked to the bush where the path started and parted it to reveal a dirt path. "Follow me ya'll. Hotwire, take the rear will ya darlin'. Ah don't want anyone separating so stay togethe' and follow me!" Rogue said and lead the group down the rough dirt path toward the house.

Someplace entirely other...yet again..."Fine yes, we have shots of trees and of snow, some white some yellow- this is all useless -a dog's rectum with a nose sniffing into it...set that aside for my later use!" the cackling raspy voice barked about the images appearing on the monitors in the control room. "Amazing!" he said as an image of Gavin appeared on the monitor. "Finally some piece of worthwhile footage, a snowball toss." he said sarcastically. "The dog's eye view is what we should have called this...I cannot believe- wait! On monitor seven I saw something...or rather someone....roll that back!" On one of the big monitors at the front of the room the images recorded from the optic implant in the dog known as Abner flashed larger than life as he had tried to catch a snowball. The sky and the tree line, and something very small rising up against the pale blue and white cloud dappled sky. "There! Enhance that!! Zoom in and bump up the quality....ooooh yes, hold on that image!" He called out to his tech crew. Rubbing his bony hands together he spoke softly to himself "Now things are getting interesting. I think an excursion might be in order." The image on the monitor held and enhanced was none other than the X-Men's own Rogue. "Wonderful idea, using dogs...their eyes tend to catch so much more than a humans might."

In another part of the building on the lower levels, off in the gladiatorial arena a match was ending. "Let's hear it ladies and gentlemen for our competitors!" the ring announcer said as the dead body of the loser was pulled out of the raised octagonal fighting pit and the winner held his hands high above him. "Your winner Brambles, and your loser and the next to go in the cauldron for stew.... Mr.Nibbles!"
The raging crowd cheered as the dead beaten body of Mr.Nibbles was dragged down and skinned. His pelt was looked over and judged to be unworthy of selling even for a souvenir and so it was hurriedly stuffed under the huge cauldron to add to the fire that cooked the massive stew of losers. Gutting him and lopping off his 'lucky' feet for pickling the arena's own butcher made quick work of the fallen competitor, gutting and cleaning the carcass before tossing it into the stew.
"That was an amazing match my friends!" the ring announcer said with much vigor. "For an under-card it does not get much better than that, and our Main Event will be starting shortly. We will be taking a bit of a break now and I direct your eyes to the big screen above!" He raised his arm with a flourish. "We need some time to wipe the blood from the mirrors, and I understand a new development has occurred in the Mutant program ~*Gavin-Bird of Rock*~. It seems our little viewed program has taken on a life of it's own and I for one am excited to see. I understand there are hushed whispers of X-Men in the control Room above, and our Lord Mojo has placed it on the live feed. Without any further ado I give you all X-MEN!!!"
The crowd howled with delight as the massive hanging screen flicked to life showing the scenes of Gavin as he played with his dogs in the back yard. A swipe of color flew across the frame and the words 'Mere Moments Ago' lit the faces of the gaping mouthed crowd below. A flash of an image -the image of Rogue- captured moments before was revealed and for a second there was absolute silence as the crowd collectively took a moment and inhaled before screaming with glee and ecstasy.
Deep in the bowels of the structure, Coffee, the headliner of tonight's Main event. A Mirror Fighter, one of Mojo's 'Rabbit Breed' of warriors, spent the moments before his match as most competitors would and had throughout the time of recorded history on this world as on any other- any way he wanted to. Facing the possibility of one's own mortality, the fact that losing meant death, was what Gladiators always did. No matter how large or how small, and this one stood about three and a half feet high.

Post by Coffee on Dec 22, 2008 2:48:35 GMT -5
Coffee stared up at the rafter beam above him. It was a good solid, iron beam about eleven feet off the ground and with about a foot and half of clearance over it. If memory served tonight's mirror arrangement included a mirror about twelve feet up. Now in a few minutes he was going to be called up into that ring to face a stranger; a stranger who could defeat him and send him straight into the boiling cauldron. Grunting with determination he stretched his hind legs and pawed the sand on the floor with his front paws before rearing up, paws straight out in the air. Jumping up and down a few times he got about 5 or 6 feet in the air. Then he backed up and with a running start launched himself at the beam. Reaching maybe nine feet he came shy of it and fell to the ground with a thud.
As pain went through his shoulder he rolled over in the sand, got back on all fours, and shook vigorously. Sand in his fur was a constant annoyance. Strange how he could think of such things with the cauldron beckoning to him. But he had been here before. Every night for 2 years now. It was a remarkably long time for a Rabbit to last. The average Rabbit warrior was lucky to see 6 months in the gladiatorial ring. His 2 year run had made him a favorite and was quite profitable for Mojo. It got him a fancy hutch of his own instead of the group hutch where everybody else was crammed together. But it hadn't kept Mojo from setting him up against his own brother. Coffee was still here. The guilt ate at him. But now was not the time for that. Now he had to clear that beam. Running back again he tried it a second time. And still he fell shy.
Not one to give up easily he rolled over in the sand and determined to try again. Patience was the one thing you learned early in the Mojoverse. Patience with watching the insipid drivel that was put on blaring screens that seemed to be everywhere. Patience with hours and hours of brutal training under coaches who beat you if you were lucky and bit into you with their fierce wolfish teeth if you weren't. Patience with being locked up in a hutch crammed with strangers who you might have to kill the next day...and worse yet whose carcasses were fed to you in that wretched Loser Stew that was the staple food of the gladiator. Coffee could not afford time to feel sorry for himself or to grieve for lost family and friends. He could only afford time to win. So he aimed for the beam yet again. And this time...he didn't make it!
Making it would have made for a better story. Failing even now in the warm up room would be sure to get him a beating. In Mojoverse there were cameras everywhere. There was never any privacy as greedy electronic eyes kept everybody under constant watch both to make sure there was no revolt against Mojo's power and, perhaps even more importantly, to capture anything that might make for good television in his eyes.
Sitting down in the sand, Coffee put his head in his paws in a dramatic gesture. Drama made for good television. He had learned early to fake drama. A stoic heart was needed to survive here, but equally so was a dramatic flair. Perhaps, he thought, he needed to give up the high mirror. It was disappointing but he would come up with a different idea. There was a left hand side mirror that was fairly big. If he aimed at it his opponent would expect a clean mirror jump and would probably move to the center to block him. However, if he aimed just to the right for the frame, a good ornate one, he could ricochet off of it and into a nearby compact. Then he could pop out of the high mirror and fall down on his opponent. That was the ticket! If he could not jump into the high mirror. He could jump out of it. It would be a crowd pleasing move, and if he did it quickly he could catch his opponent unawares and stay out of the cauldron one more night.
Good. With that settled he needed to try some more punches. Mirror jumping was a big part of the fight but at core it was still a boxing match. Hopping over to the side of the room he took down his old boxing gloves and slipped them on. Rearing up on his hind legs he tried a jab right, a jab left, and then a head fake. As he punched imaginary rabbits in the air he thought about his dead brother. He thought about his mother, taken from him when he was just a kit. He had seen her foot, at least it looked like her foot, hanging from the belt of a ringside VIP once and had broken out of the ring in a rage trying to get it back.
Mojo had almost had him cauldroned for that one but at the last minute changed his mind when he saw the ratings Coffee generated. Sooner or later he would wind up in the cauldron. His kits would wind up in the cauldron. So would their kits. So would all the kits from now and forever. At least as long as Mojo was in charge. Yet nobody could revolt. Mojo's cameras saw everything. Absolutely everything. So he would fight. He would do his best to win. And he would feel a little guilty about actually enjoying the boxing just a little. Now, maybe he could try that beam again...after all, Coffee was not one to give up.

Back In the U.S.A. .. (Earth, Maine to be exact)....Tia looked at Kelly with another glare as she tried to sidestep the snowballs he threw at her. She exhaled sharply and it caused a small gust that blew one snowball back at him. It surprised her a little that that was her powers doing something, but she didn’t let it show. She was trying to ignore him, but him calling her that annoying name made it a little hard. Another sharp gust of wind blew by and she tried to hug herself more as if it would make her any warmer than she was already trying to be. Inhaling a breath of cold air, she turned away from Kelly and walked a little closer to Rogue. She rather try to remain calm and near the teacher and the others than have a chance to loose her temper.
Tia took the opportunity to distract her thoughts by focusing on the mission. It was actually kind of exciting. She had never done something like this – well, how could she before? She wasn’t in a mutant school not long ago. The idea of having to actually need to take a jet to go pick up a student was way different than she was used to, for a school getting their new students at least. The need for stealth was different too. The whole thing was different, but Tia kind of liked it. She felt a little exilherated, but she didn’t show that either. The only thing that might have given it away would have been the little smirk that was now on her lips.
She watched as Rogue went up into the sky and waited as she was asked with the others, staying quiet. Tia waited for her to come back down, looking down at the ground sooner because the wind was stinging her eyes and making them water. She looked around at the others for a brief second, and then watched as Rogue came back down. As Rogue started down the path that she found, Tia soon followed quietly through the bushes and kept up, slightly surprised to see the path was dirt. Everything else was covered in snow. It made Tia happier, at least the wind couldn’t get them as bad that way.

Kelly groaned and stomped after Rogue with a scowl. "Finneee! I'll save the hazing for the school," he whined and folded his arms across his chest, huffing in annoyance. Then it registered what Ariel said and he looked back at her with wide eyes. "You were kidding about Wolverine being in the woods right? Was he mad that I turned his bootlaces into string cheese as a going away gift? You think he's mad enough to come back from Limbo and track me here?" he said looking around with a bit of fear. "That dude, scares me. A lot. He needs to lighten up. You'd think with all the beer the dude drinks he'd be happier. He's as grumpy as ever. I still say he needs to get laid," Kelly said with a bit of a huff though he still looked around fearfully.
"How long is this path? You think this guy has a canoe? We should totally take it down this trail on the way back. How cool would it be to say we went down a hill in a canoe? Can we do that? We should TOTALLY do that! If Wolverine is here, it'll take him longer to catch me in a canoe!" he said all excited. "Are we there yet?" Kelly whined one more time trudging up the steps.

In the Mojoverse...
Mojoworld, an extra dimensional and extra temporal realm inhabited by the semi-humanoid Spineless Ones. Due to their world's unique nature, radio and television signals from Earth which had been distorted as they wound there way through time to a point early in the Spineless Ones' existence, bombarded their brains with alien images. The effect this had on their mental state, gave them an intense love of televised entertainment and gladiatorial blood games but an instinctive revulsion, fear and awe toward humans.
It was upon an ordinary day when the Spineless One Arize was born. In him a new age would dawn on this world. His inventions revolutionized their culture. Arize created mechanical supports to allow the Spineless Ones to stand upright. Next to that, his chief invention, he also genetically engineered many slave species. Out of Arize's twisted sense of humor, he made some to resemble the hated image of Humans.
Now in Mojoworld's media-oriented culture, the ruler is in charge of producing movies and television shows as well as distracting the populace with the ever popular death matches of genetically engineered slaves to keep the masses entertained. Mojo, who first started taking control of Mojoworld's slave creation and trade and then leveraged himself into the entertainment fields, has come to be the ruler of this world and thus has aptly christened it all Mojoverse (as he sees himself ruler of the universe and is looking ahead).
Some of his creations included Spiral his six armed assistant, Quark a ram headed human like henchman of his, Longshot and the X-Babies. Mojo garnered much acclaim and accolades for his creation and employment of Longshot as a stunt man in his movie productions. Eventually Longshot became Mojo's nemesis, leading other slaves in a rebellion.
Mojo first learned of Earth when Longshot managed to escape to our planet. It was then that he decided to take it over. He found that when on the planet Earth his whole essence embodies an anti life force, he causes plants to wilt and die, he causes humans and animals to age rapidly and die as well. By the same means he was able to warp the weather and distort the sky which if not thwarted would have ended all life on the planet, thankfully for the inhabitants of the Earth the X-Men were there to do that much needed thwarting.
Time and again He has come in contact with the X-Men, trying without success to force the X-Men into serving as unwilling actors in his lunatic productions. As "Luck" would have it, one fateful day it looked as if Mojo's career and life were finished when Longshot appeared to kill him. His successor was appropriately named Mojo 2, the sequel. However, the original staged an incredible comeback to wreak more chaos on Mojoworld and on earth. Securing his position as ruler, and having noted a trend in ratings popularity whenever the X-Men would appear on screen. He had the X-Babies created and used the child like versions of the Earths Mutant outcast heroes to again build his following and whip the masses into a frenzy. Tragically the X Babies would revolt as well.
Mojo has followed the trend of reality television and as of late has taken up spying directly on certain inhabitants of Earth. Most notably a young mutant boy with black wings who plays in a rock band. This show, entitled 'Gavin...Bird of Rock' has been critically applauded, yet the public could seem to care less as the newest gladiatorial fad is Mirror combat. Mojo's genetically altered humanoid rabbits, bred and trained in the art of pugilism, are pitted to the death with only their skill and the uncanny ability to leap through mirrors, in a very 'Through the Looking Glass' manner.

Rogue sighed as they trudged up the path. "Kelly Burns, what did Ah just say? If ya think Ah was joking, ya got another thing comin' to you Mister," she said and looked back to make sure the others were all in line. Hemlock had been extremely quiet during the trip and Rogue was regretting bringing him, since he didn't seem up for the trip. Tempest was however trying her best both with her temper and to follow directions. Kurt's gonna be happy to hear that. He's got a pretty good team going on here, she thought wistfully. She missed him and Logan, both of them being like family to her. Logan was the only one she considered family when she first joined the X-Men, and she still remembered how thrilled she was to learn that Nightcrawler was her brother. The two were already close at the time and this just made them even tighter. She wrote and called Kurt often while she was away, just to check in on him and hear the sound of his voice to ease her homesickness. She'd talk to Logan too, when he wasn't out or in the Danger Room, which is where he spent a good portion of the day.
"Alright ya'll, I see the house. Remember what Ah said about behaving. That means you Kelly," Rogue warned just before she turned the last corner and lifted back a bush to find themselves standing in front of an extremely large house. Out in the yard, there were five dogs playing in the snow. On the steps of the porch, sat a tall boy with dark hair, that Rogue instantly recognized as Gavin from cerebra. She went up to him with a smile, climbing up the hill. "Hi there, Gavin. You got some house here I'll tell you that. It took us one helluva time to find it," Rogue said pleasantly, leaning down to pet the top of some of the dogs head when they ran up to the group barking happily.
"Ain't these the sweetest lil' things ever," she cooed for a second before going up to the boy. "Ma name is Rogue, Ah'm an X-Men. Ah came here to offer you a place with us at Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. It's a whole school of mutants, just like you. And with me are some of the students," Rogue said pointing each of them out. "This is Tia, Kris, Ariel, and Kelly. Ah'm apologizin' for Kelly's behavior ahead of time," she said with a wink and gave him a pleasant smile.
"So Gavin, am Ah right? Are your parents home by any chance sugar? Ah'd love to talk to them about letting you come with us to our school. Its a pretty big school and Ah'll tell you from experience, it really give you a chance to learn more about yourself and how to control you powers," Rogue said with a sincere smile and looked around to see for any signs of his parents.

"Oh shut up, Kelly," Ariel said with a roll of her eyes while she brought up the rear of the little group as Rogue had asked of her. The two younger students were quiet, which she found a little surprising since she figured they'd be bumbling with excitement about this little outing. It was actually nice, because Kelly was talking enough for everyone. She continued walking behind everyone, watching her surroundings with careful eyes; one could never know what to expect, even on an outing such as this. Thankfully, the walk through the path was simple enough, and it was nice and not windy.
As they approached the house she couldn't help laughing lightly at the dogs that were all around and playing. The house was huge, and the area they walked into was even bigger. Ariel said little as Rogue was coming up to the boy in question, but nodded to him with a smile when she was pointed out. Reaching into the pocket of her jacket while Rogue spoke, Ariel took out her tube of lipstick and compact mirror and put a little lipstick on. She winked at Kelly as she looked at herself in the small mirror. She smirked as she kissed it to leave a nice little mark on it and showed it to him as if it were something he couldn't get, avoiding being seen by Rogue. She couldn't help teasing him; it was far too easy.
