Fresh snow had littered the small seaside town in Maine, covering everything in a brand new blanket of white to be plowed away with haste. All teenagers of the local high school were still on Christmas break- or what was left of it. The long drive that led up to the large mansion on top of the hill was covered in unplowed snow, but that would soon change as both parents of recently discovered mutant Gavin Croft hurried out the front door to their respective jobs. Weather would not stop them from working, as they had both proved as they pulled out in their cars and drove off to their places of work.
Thus it had left young Gavin at home with his five brothers and sisters, all of which were not letting the weather stop their plans either. Despite the relatively deep snow, the house was soon empty except for the young mutant. A wild guess could be that one sister was off at her boyfriend’s house, and the other two were off somewhere else. As long as they were out of the house, they were happy, regardless of the weather. The twins were probably eager to get outside and play in the snow in the back of the large mansion. Silence was the only thing that could be heard throughout the mansion now that it was almost vacant, and the sun combined with the bright reflection of the sparkling snow shining through Gavin’s bedroom window was enough to wake him up. It would most likely be a typical winter day.

Gavin's room blasted with Alice Cooper in the background. The heater was on full blast and his window was open, like Gavin liked it so he could breathe and be sort of warm at the same time. The music was so loud that it shook the wall and the top half of his body was covered by his comforter. His room was a mess, strewn with guitar magazines and drumsticks and guitars all over the place. His walls were covered in band posters and bikini car babes. Clothes were thrown all over the place along with comics.
The cold wind that blew through th window and against his legs is what woke Gavin up with a groan. He was out almost the whole night playing a gig in the next town over and he didn't get home till about 5am. With another groan, he pushed his covers off and sat up slowly. m"Uuuurrrgghhhh," Gavin groaned as he stretched his arms over his head. Then he leaned forward flexed his back, making his long gleaming black wings stretched far out. Gavin grabbed a wrinkled blue shirt from the floor and carefully put it on, mastering how to put on shirts and jackets after the past years. He yawned again and scratched his head, opening his door and almost tripping over his Great Dane, Scooby. "Aw man Scooby, move you're lazy ass," he said and nudged the dog with his toe as he went downstairs.
"The house to myself? Sweeet," Gavin said when he noticed the silent house. The one thing that he could look forward to was a quiet breakfast before he got sent off the the middle of no where. He went to the large kitchen and opened the cupboard. Cocoa Puffs or Reeses Puffs?] was his new dilemma.

The large lavish kitchen in the Croft mansion had plenty of food to its name, and the accessories to match. The extra large refrigerator held lots of different food, leftovers from the night before, breakfast foods, and whatever else that could be stuck in there. The cabinets held everything else and that was what Gavin chose today, cereal for lunch since it was already the afternoon by now. The kitchen counter lined three of the four walls and an island filled the middle with plenty of space to spare. This was normally where the family stopped and ate on the go, but for when they all gathered there was a dining room past one of the entrances to the kitchen.
While Gavin was busy deciding which cereal he wanted to eat, Scooby had followed him down, hoping that he would share some of his food with him. The dog nudged his leg expectantly, almost urging him to hurry up already so he could have whatever he would be given. Before Gavin could choose and settle down, the phone that hung on the nearby wall began to ring.
The answering machine picked up and out of the speaker the voice of one of his bandmates was on the other end. “Hey man, just so you know me and the guys are on our way to your house. After last night’s gig we need to learn more covers – Hey Gavman, you there? Pick up! Anyway, the crowd liked the ones we had but I thought we were a bit short on them. Ike says to tell you he's callin you out! Snowball fight!!! See ya in ten, man----"

Gavin poured the Cocoa Puffs in a bowl as he listened to the answering machine with a smirk. His other four dogs, his mom's bulldog Abner, his dad's collie The General, and the two dalmatians Patches and Dottie ran in at the sound of food. "Alright, alright. You'll all get your food hold on," Gavin said as he got out the giant bag of dog food and poured it into each of their bowls. The dogs attacked the bowls almost immediately, nearly knocking him over. "Whoa guys, chill out," he said with a laugh before he went over to his own bowl of cereal.
He poured the milk in it and went to the kitchen table to eat it. Guess I gotta get dressed when the guys get here. Might as well take advantage of the snow and all, Gavin thought as he was finishing up his cereal. Gavin ate quickly and tossed the bowl into the sink. Scooby was at his heels as he dashed up the stairs to his room. He put on a pair of winter pants and folded his wings in so that he was able to tuck them into his jacket.
"Let's go Scooby. The guys are gonna come," he said after putting on his boots. He patted his leg indicating the dog to follow him as he went downstairs and opened the door to the porch, letting the rest of the dogs out to play in the snow as well. Gavin sat on the chair and looked at the path that led down the hill his house stood on top of. Any second, he expected to see his friends coming out of the tight cluster of trees and trudging up the path to his house.

Scooby ran out with the other dogs, barking at them as they went out ahead. The snow was relatively deep, so he had to remember to try not to run, instead lift up his paws all the way and set them down in front of him. The cold air stung his wet nose, feeling like tiny little pinpricks as he inhaled fresh air, a sharp feeling up his nose. His eyes darted around, from his master Gavin to the other dogs as they too adapted themselves to the semi-deep snow. Scooby always liked to play out in the front yard. Although it sloped, it was a nice big space to run around and play in, and he loved it when his masters let him and the others out to play.
The snow crunched under his feet as he started panting, his tongue occasionally hanging low enough to touch the tip of the fresh snow. It was like a little refresher, like a little drink of nice cold water. His legs were long though, and it only worked if his head hung low enough for his tongue to reach. When it did, though, he didn’t mind. He stopped at different spots around the large front yard, his legs nearly halfway submerged in snow to sniff. Had Abner come here yet? He lowered his nose into the snow at one spot and sniffed for a scent he recognized. That wasn’t Abner’s scent, that had been Dottie’s. When he lifted up his head his muzzle was covered in snow like a miniature Santa Claus beard, and he looked over at his master as if to show him.
Looking for Dottie, he caught sight of her spotted body and turned around, pawing through the snow to go get her. He barked at her, nipping at her tail when he caught up, and she gave a little yelp, trying to get his ear. Scooby let her, all the while he tried to get her back again when his own tail was lightly bitten. It was the General, wanting in on some of the action. Scooby barked at Dottie and reared up on his back legs to throw his front legs over the General, who tried to do the same thing back. By now all three were barking at each other playfully and trying to tackle each other. Dottie pushed the General into the snow and then went after Scooby.
He landed on the soft snow on his side, his whole right side feeling a surge of cold. He quickly got up and sunk all four paws back into the snow and decided to go after the other two dogs. He glanced around everywhere to see where everyone was, counting off everyone outside and found who he was looking for. Abner was off near one of the trees relieving himself in a shallower part of the snow, and Scooby decided to go bother him. Half jumping through the snow, he looked like a real live see-saw while he went over, a little growl rumbling in his throat. When he got to the bulldog, he let out a loud bark, startling Abner for a second and distracting him of his task. Then, Scooby lifted up his own leg and let loose, when Patches came by to see what was happening, barking at them both and looking to tackle Abner. Scooby in turn tackled Patches, nearly knocking him over in the process.
Getting slightly bored of this for the moment, Scooby turned around and ran off, see-sawing through the snow towards his master Gavin. He was really panting now, and whenever his tongue touched the snow he liked it a lot. He see-sawed some more up to his master and jumped up to the porch. He rose his snow covered front paws onto the arm of Gavin’s chair and gave his cheek a big lick before going back down and running off, barking while he headed back to play with the other dogs.

Meanwhile in the QuinjetRogue sighed in frustration for what seemed like the 50th time during the trip. "Kelly Burns, Ah swear if Ah hear one more word 'bout any of these girl's chest, Ah will personally make your life much harder than ya eve' imagined the rest of the time Ah'm here," she said in sheer frustration. A whole hour of hearing Calorie make lewd comments on the girls' breast sizes and their looks. "Alright kids, we just crossed the Maine boarder. Now all Ah remember is that he lived by the coast in a big house on hill with lots of trees around it. So keep your eyes peeled," Rogue said to Hemlock, Tempest, Hotwire, and Calorie while picturing the boy's house quite clearly in her mind... "This ain't the time for foolin' around ya'll Ah can't keep a lookout and drive this thing at the same time. Remembe' look for a house not far from a school and right by the coast. It should be pretty big and on a hill hidden by a whole buncha trees," she said looking along the coast as the Quinjet sailed through the skies.

Tia blew out into the air, her nose touching the glass towards her right, as she looked down, looking for the house Rogue had described to them.
Tia's stomach really wasn't bothering her too much, but she could steel feel the emptiness inside her. When she'd entered the quinjet, it seemed like she'd entered heaven - literally. She'd never been inside one of the mutant vehicals. And all the controls and machinary was making her mind boggle. Though, she'd tried to keep her fasination to a minimum, 'cause she wanted to concentrate on whatever the mission was. Rogue had explained to them where they were going, and why, and now that they'd crossed the maine border she'd reminded about exactly why there were here, and what they were looking for.
Tia was sitting on the seat behind the main-drivers (where Rogue sat) looking around, making sure she spotted the house Rogue had told them about. Even though Tia really wasn't one to get too happy or excited, she was determined to proove herself on this mission. For some really odd reason, she was actually excited... her first ever mission. Even if it really wasn't a proper fighting types mission thing, nothing like she'd imagine a mission to be - it was still exciting, having people depend on you, being a part of a team. She'd always been an outcast, it felt nice to be around people who actually didn't look at her too oddly, and spoke to her like she was just anyone else.
Sure, she was still pissed off 'cause Calorie was there, but her excitement was too high to let her temper fly up at the moment. Due to Tia's rather high level of excitement, the wind around the Quinjet was quite speedy and keen as well. Tia'd tried to calm herself down - she didn't want to make things any harder for Rogue. As Tia continued to skim the grounds, she spotted quite a few houses, but none like the one Rogue had told them about.

"But Rogue, it was a compliment! If Tracey wears Emma's outfit, I mean DAMN come on! That's like something out of a Ron Jeremy movie with the two of them in matching outfits!" Kelly said with his hands thrown in the air for emphasis. "FINE! You're no fun, I mean you'd think someone that went out with- Hey look! Its like a boat strip bar look at the signs!" he shrieked pointing to a boat docked at the marina with a glittering sign that said Gentlemen's Club. "Hey I know how we can welcome the guy, let's take him there! That's like the best place to be welcomed with hot naked girls! Come on Rogue, it's a genius idea!" Kelly said as he stared at the bar. "Hey Ariel, when Mason gets back are you coming with us to the city?" Kelly Burns was all over the place this morning, mainly cause he turned his water into chocolate syrup after smoking a bowl outside before he went to the hanger. He made everyone wait, but it was worth it since everyone's heads were all over the place and boobs were bouncing! Kelly burst out in random laughter and pointed below them. "AHAHAHHAHA look did you see that? Some kid just fell off his sled! AHAhahaha!!" he laughed out loud.

After having been told what would go down, Ariel went off to her room to go change into her uniform. She didn't take long, and when she finished changing she headed right down to the hangar. She beat Kelly there, but knowing him well enough she figured he was getting baked before leaving. By the time an hour had passed on the Quinjet, she had one hand massaging a temple from him yammering on about everything. "Yes Kelly, I'll come with you to the city as long as you just shut up for now," she said with a roll of her eyes, her voice sounding dull in annoyance. How she dealt with him while tutoring and everything else she'll never know, but it took years of practice.
Even still, she couldn't help but to reach over to where Kelly was sitting looking out his window and touched a finger to his arm. Through her finger a very small jolt of electricity coursed through into him, hopefully making him shut up for at least a couple of minutes. When she first started she had to wear gauntlets made by Beast in order to learn to control what electricity she could release and hold in. Now that she had control she didn't need them.
Poor Rogue, she had to keep yelling at him. She was nowhere near used to him as Ariel was, and this was probably one reason she was coming in the first place. Ariel didn't mind too much though; a mission was a mission and they were always interesting, even if it was just to pick up a new student.

Rogue tightened her grip around the steering wheel of the Quinjet closing her eyes and trying not to yell again. She was use to Kelly Burns' comments about "well equipped women", but after a certain point it was just too annoying. Keeping her cool since she was quite good at it, Rogue commented again. "Burns Ah told ya to stop makin'- thank ya Ariel Ah will pretend Ah didn't see that," she said in response to the Corsair's "kind" action.
After several minutes of looking, Rogue checked near the coast. The flashes of memories that Cerebra fed her were being shown right then and there. We're gettin' close, she concluded and then began her search of the house.
"We are almost there," she said loudly to the young group behind her while keeping her head forward. "Ah'm goin' into stealth mode." She flicked the buttons that enabled STEALTH MODE and then pressed the appropriate buttons. In a second, the Quinjet became invisible to the human eye to all of those outside it.

Tia's hand moved upto the side of her forehead, as she began rubbing her temples. Kelly needed to shut up! She wasn't actually surprised at the amounts he was rambling. She really wasn't up for this. How could anyone talk so much!? He had to have some sort of issues. As Kelly began to ramble on about a gentlemens club and taking the new student there, Tia really was tempted to swear out loud. Though she was trying to keep her emotions seriously under control. She was still young, and her powers were connected to her emotions. She didn't want the wind to go super harsh and toss the quinjet into the middle of nowhere.
Though, she doubted she was strong enough to cause the vehicle to move, her temper couldn't go THAT high. The most she could probably do at the moment when she lost control was probably make the wind shake trees rather furiously. She shook the thought off, as Rogue spoke again, this time to all of them. They were nearly there, great. She could feel her chest heaving slightly, the slight nerves were beginning to catch on. Rogue mentioned something about putting the Quinjet into 'Stealth mode'. Tia wasn't really sure about what that was, but taking her wildest guess, she thought it was something to do with getting the Quinjet invisible, or super-fast.
Seeing the speed remained the same, she confirmed her thoughts on invisible. Her dark gaze continued to stalk the land below them, when she spotted a dog licking the snow further ahead from where they were. Her eyes narrowed, to get a better look - she loved dogs. She smiled at the dog as he panted, and ran towards the porch of a house. He seemed to dissappear under the shelter, she was about to look away, when something clicked inside her head. She blinked at the house for about a minute before speaking. "Rogue," her voice cracked slightly as she spoke. It was the first time she'd spoken since she'd entered the Quinjet. "Is that it?" she inquired, her voice clearer. "Look forwards and right."

"OW! Ariel what gives? That- Hey Rogue look! Jugs-a-poppin' here found it! Or at least it looks like it!" Kelly said and pointed to the house below them. When he saw the dogs running around he got really excited. "Look look! There's dogs! Oh man this is awesome! Hey from up here that one there almost looks like Wolverine! AHahhahahaha," he pointed laughing in his addled state of mind. "You think he's still mad at me for drinking his last beer that one time?" he asked remembering the rather destructive rampage that resulted in cream cheese floors.
"You know what we should do to welcome him officially? Let's get bottle rockets and chase him around the forest with them and make him wear an apron!" Kelly yelled as he laughed hard, hitting his head against his seat. "Man I'm like a genius. No wonder I'm the perfect guy. I'm the three things that women want. I'm hot and I'm smart!" he said smugly, checking his reflection in the glass.

Ariel shook her head and leaned over to look out her window to catch a glimpse of what they were supposed to be looking for. Sure enough it was a house and there were dogs running around. She thought it matched the description that Rogue had given them all and looked back to the group. “Yeah, that looks to be the right place,” she commented, leaning back into her seat only to roll her eyes again.
“Oh, yes Kelly,” she agreed sarcastically with an amused smirk, “You’re so very smart that you forgot the third reason why you’re perfect.” She rested her head on her hand and muttered, “Dumbass.” Ariel glanced over at the others. The younger girl seemed annoyed at Kelly’s constant prattling. A little smile came on the Corsair’s face as she remembered when she herself first started dealing with Kelly. She thought he was funny, yes, but annoying at the same time. Now she was just plain used to it. She looked to Rogue and smirked a little. “How shocked do you think this new student will be to see the Quinjet just pop up out of nowhere?” she asked her, looking out the window again, letting out a small sigh.

Having changed into a set of comfortable jeans and a a lime green jumper to match his gloves. It was still of course frightfully cold outside and sedpite having lived in England, he was not used to snow at such a large extent. Back at home it snowed very little and if it did, it was usually March when it happened. So, the now cosy teen sat inside the most fascinating looking vehicle he could ever imagine. 'If i didn't know any better i'd swear this was some part of a space station inside here. Its got so many buttons its amazing how miss Rogue can work it.'
Throughout the ride though he had kept himself quiet with a silent awe at the sight outside the window. Even though snow blanketed the area he couldn't help but smile at the amount of trees around the area they where searching. It was beautiful. "Miss Rogue, i think Tia is right, there's something like a big house between those trees there. Pretty posh looking house at that too." He said with a smile as he kept staring at the large amount of greenery outside the window. This was his idea of eutopia.

"Look at that Tempest, Ah think you got it. It looks like we found the place," Rogue said to Tempest and looked back to wink at Hemlock. "And Kelly Burns, Ah suggest ya keep your trap shut if ya don't want me to tell Wolverine what ya said. Ah'm sure he won't be shy in lettin' ya know what he thinks of that," she said with a warning tone and sighed. He really was a sweet kid just not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Rogue steered the Quinjet to the area around the house, looking for a place to land. "Alright guys we got lucky, we only been in Maine for a little over a half hour, though Ah did bypass the areas that were by the coast with only big research buildings," she said as she spotted a nearby lake that looked deserted just a short walk away from the house. "Everyone buckle up. Ah found us a good place to land, but it may be a little bit of a bumpy landing," Rogue called and steered the jet toward the area. Slowly and surely, the Quinjet moved closer to the ground, still in stealth mode. The snow flowed out around from the wind that the Quinjet created as it landed slowly by the frozen over lake. Rogue as steadily as possible landed it with a gentle THUD on the ground. "Everyone alright?" she called to her little 'squad.' "Ah'm gonna open up the jet, and Ah want everyone out one at a time. And stay right by the Quinjet, Ah mean it we are all staying together," Rogue warned as the side opening of the Quinjet opened up and let a cold gust of wind inside the jet. "Everyone out!" she cried and turned off the jet slowly, keeping it on stealth mode.
