The room sat empty as the students filtered in. It was the morning class and Kurt had had his team of Paragons training the night before, but there was no excuse for lateness- especially for a teacher. It was a lovely spring day but as the students came in they noticed that the blinds were drawn almost completely shut and there was a stillness in the room. A hushed silence permeated the air....

Blasting Dog Fashion Disco's "9 to 5 at the Morgue, Overtime for the Corpse" on her decrepit old Walkman Katana was the first to walk into Nightcrawler's classroom. Every morning she made a point of being the first to Drama class. At first it was just because she wanted to impress her team leader as he had been the only one to believe in her. Then it became about the class. She loved drama. Something about being able to forget the whole world and become a different person was very appealing to her. She could run away without any of the nasty repercussions of actually running away.
"Morning," she said cheerily, as she turned down the deafeningly loud music that could be heard in the room just as if she had not been wearing ear phones. "I went to the library yesterday and got that play you suggested, 'Inherit the Wind.' Crazy stuff. Are we going to read anything that wack in class today?" As she said it she sat down in a desk in the front row...in Nightcrawler's class she always sat in the front row. Everywhere else she sat in the very back. And in every other class she was failing.
But when Katana looked in front of her she didn't see Nightcrawler off to the side setting up the props or working at papers at his desk. She saw nobody. That's odd, she thought. He's always here. Sometimes I swear he lives in this room and never leaves it except to eat and conduct practice. Where the hell is he? Giving it no more thought she put her ear phones back in, turned the Walkman on, and replayed the song, blasting it high and singing along:
"Within the pale white walls, From 9 to 5 Day after day I feel no more alive, Than the stiff that lies the table before me. Wake up too early to twist the key. Stumble on over to the Mr. Coffee. Pour myself a warm black existence. We抮e 9 to 5."
As she reached the chorus she was practically screaming it:
"9 to 5 at the morgue. Overtime for the corpse!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Good morning!" Veronika's sweet voice and her light Russian accent echoed in the classroom as she walked in, looking picture perfect as always. Hair neat and styled down, makeup light and natural looking, and of course Veronika didn't own any clothing that wasn't a designer label. Her denim DKNY Jacket, dark Seven For All Mankind jeans, TART blue tube top, and of course her favorite Juicy Couture boots completed her look for this morning. Veronika's sweet smile never left her face as she placed her Prada bag on her desk in the second row and sat down carefully.
"Hello Leah," she said sweetly, inwardly smirking as she flipped her hair and took out the textbook, placing it on her desk. "Could you please lower your voice darling, it is still rather early for that sort of singing." She added with a sweet and polite smile, winking at her teammate with her large sapphire eyes. When Veronika could hear herself think, she spoke again. "I have to say Nightcrawler was right, I simply loved practicing A Midsummer Night's Dream! Kris and I had great fun acting it out. He was right, I do think I make the perfect Hermia!" Veronika said with a giggle.
Two months was more than enough time for everyone in the school to be absolutely smitten with her, and it wasn't only the light pushing using her powers that did it. In combination with her powers and Veronika's sweet and intelligent demeanor, it was impossible for anyone to resist her. She got along wonderfully with her team, turning them all to her side and no one suspected since she just seemed so nice and sweet in general. Her friendship with those that she put in her 'Inner Circle' only became stronger, especially since it had several more members. The best part of it all is that no one was none the wiser how malicious and vindictive were the thoughts that swirled behind that perfect, sweet and pretty little face.

"I'm not late, I'm not late, I'm not- Oh shit. I'm really not late!" Sky said as she slid in the doorway, arms out to grab the door frame so she wouldn't fall. "Oh MAN! This is like the first time I was ever early! I totally deserve a point for that or like a higher grade." She walked in and threw her back in her seat in the back row, where her and Ripple sat in every class.
"Leah was that you singing I heard down the hall? Christ girl you scared the shit out of me I thought Nightcrawler had you up singing and I was gonna get my ass chewed out again," she said and hopped up to sit on the desk next to Leah and grinned at Veronika. "Hey Veronika, looking like a perfect supermodel as always. Seriously I'm telling again your one of those girls in those magazines that I hate cause I can never look like that," Sky said playfully and nudged Leah. "We need to beat her up one of these days so she'll be as flawed as the rest of us," Sky said with a wink and then threw her head back and laughed.
She loved her team, they were all pretty tight and they kicked some serious ass, even next to the Perfect little Acolytes. "Am I the only one sore after practice last night? My ass looks like a plum cause it's so bruised from falling all over the place. You should see Ripple though, she's worse off than me," Sky said rubbing her hip for emphasis. "Where is she anyways? She was out of the room before me. I swear if she went to the kitchen and doesn't bring me back food I'm kicking her ass," Sky said in a playfully threatening voice.

"Hi ladies! How is everybody today?" Kevin said cheeryly. He walked in and took his seat next to Veronika. "Oh my god you look fantastic!" he gushed at Allure's outfit. "You have possibly the thickest wardrobe I have ever know anyone to have. I don't think I have yet to see you wear something twice, it's amazing."
He looked around and said "Where's Kris? I didn't see him this morning at all and for that matter where is Nightcrawler?" A sudden sense of confusion and fourboding came over him and he had a weird feeling like this had all happened before. "And why is it so dark in here?" he asked in a whisper.

"Morning Barbie," Katana said, matching Veronika's sugary sweetness. The fact that the girl was so sweet was somehow incredibly annoying...sincerity or not it just was. "It's never too early. In fact it's just in time to wake you up for class. Wouldn't want our star actress missing her cues now, would we?" she retorted, rolling her eyes. "Midsummer Night's Dream...yeah that was fun. Especially when Nightcrawler gave me that paper mache donkey head! Really got me into my part." Still, there was something Katana couldn't resist about Veronika's request and she turned down the music.
Not too soon afterwards Decay came through the door. The look of panic on the girl's face was funny and Katana had to laugh. "No, you're not late. Nightcrawler may be cool but he wouldn't let me sing hardcore punk in class. Heck, the teachers don't want me singing it in the dorm. Afraid I'll warp the little kiddies minds."
Next, the remark about kicking Veronika's ass brought a big smile to Katana's face, so she continued, "Yeah, you and me don't see eye to eye much. But taking Barbie down. We can bond over it!"
Yeah, that would be fun, Katana thought. Well, but she's so sweet...It would just be wrong...no, who cares that's it is wrong..but Nightcrawler wouldn't like it. With this thought in mind Katana turned back to face the front of the class and reached down into the backpack she had slung across one shoulder for a book, just as Hardlight came through the door. As the boy asked what was happening and then gushed over Allure, Katana rolled her eyes again and thought, Thatlittle fag has it all backwards. The hag is supposed to hang on the faggot, not the faggot on the hag.

Fitted red tanktop. Black skinny jeans. Black cardigan. That seems to do it.
"Morining People," Ricki greeted - a welcoming smile streched across her face - as she entered the classroom, the palms of her hands slipped inside the back pockets of her jeans. Her eyes scanned around, they were all Paragons in there - with the exception of Kevin - who like her was an Alcolyte. Ricki hadn't gotten all 'best-buds' with anyone at her time spent at the academy, but she was pretty close to her team. They literally were like one big happy family - like Jamie had said. She moved over to stand besides Kevin - seeing he was pretty much the only person she knew well enough to speak to. "Whats happening?" she asked, looking around.

Gavin ran in just after Ricki. "Hey Ricki, so sorry I kept you waiting. I couldn't find my textbook and then it ended up in Ian's closet again," he said with a laugh coming up behind his teammate. He tossed his stuff on the seat behind Veronika. In the past two months, Gavin got pretty friendly with his team, finding a best friend in his roommate and good friends outside his team as well. Some of those friends were already here. "Hey guys, what's with the lack of light?" he asked looking around the dark room before his eyes fell on Sky and he laughed. "I don't think I've every seen you here this early Sky, especially before Nightcrawler. Where is he anyways?" Gavin pondered out loud before sitting down, minding his wings.
He took out his textbook, glancing at Veronika who looked hot as always. He grinned and shook his head a bit at how some stuff in this school he knew probably wouldn't change. "Hey Kev, you finished the English homework by chance? Think you can help me out with it again? I really don't get 'The Canterbury Tales' at all," Gavin said with a laugh, smiling at Veronika and Ricki. He didn't really care for Katana, maybe cause she reminded him of the people that he used to hang out with when he was little. She would have fit right in had she not been a mutant, and that didn't settle well with Gavin.
"Hey Sky, Ricki are we still on for some basketball later? And Sky bring two balls you disintegrated it last time so might as well bring a spare," Gavin said with an easy smile and a wink at her as he sat back and looked carefully around the dark room. "So... is it just me or is it a little weird that we're all sitting in a dark class and Nightcrawler's not here? Is this gonna be like the time he taught us about a dramatic entrance?" he asked suspiciously.

At that moment the door to the classroom slammed shut. KA-blAM! The sound of Nightcrawlers voice echoed out a moment later from the wall above the door. The ampetheatre style room was designed for wonderful acoustics with it's high ceiling and lecture hall seating. "Anticipation....zhe moment before zhe curtain rises, children. Zhere is nossing qvite like it in zhe mind und heart ahv zhe stage performer. Dramatic Entrances...very good recall Gavin... are heightened by zhe anticipation ahv Zhe Moment."
"For vhat is a stage, a play or a performance vissout drama? Eet is zhe glue zhat holds von to zhe edge of zheir seat...." With that he flung open the blinds and was shown there before them clinging to the wall. His tail opening one set of blinds while he reached out and arm with the other. "Lets all take a moment to think of some vonderful openings, can anyvon name a favorite or two?" He smiled looking at them all blinking as the light coming in was indeed a startling bedazzlement.

Ricki's head spun around the moment she stopped besides Kevin, before he could reply to her Gavin came running in, calling after Ricki. He was late. Again. In the past two months, she'd gotten pretty close to Gavin - mainly seeing they were both the new kids, they'd kinda bonded, and helped each other along the way. "Honestly speaking Gavin, I've given up on you, if you don't reach in time, I wait for a minute or two..." she took a dramatic breath, "... and then leave!" her eyes poped wide, as she took a step closer towards the red head. She rolled her eyes at him, before turning back round as he spoke to Sky.
Sky was cool. It'd been quite easy to talk to her too, seeing she was a floridian. There was a bit of 'family' sense there, despite the lack of being on the same team. Gavin rambled on - the guy barely ever did shut up, not that Ricki minded. She generally found it quite amusing. As he mentioned the fact that he didn't understand 'The Canterbury Tales' Ricki couldn't help but let out a small cough. You never pay attention Gavin, she wanted to say, so it's quite obvious you don't get it... though there was barely any point saying it, seeing her thoughts were made pretty clear by her cough. She was just being playful.
"You're on," she added at the mention of the basket ball game, "But no cheating," she pointed out, "Flutter those wings of yours, and my hands will be streching up way beyond your reach," she grinned at him, and turned to look at Sky keeping her grin on her face. "Be honest Sky - You can't tell me you haven't got sick of him flying off with the ball every time." she muttered, rolling her eyes. Ricki'd just started to begun to ease up since she'd entered, before the door shut with a rather loud bang and Nightcrawlers voice echoed around the room.
Ricki jumped a little at the bang of the door, things like that more or less always caught her by surprise, but she never really screamed. Out loud anyway. Nightcrawler started speaking about how important drama was, and right after that, he opened up the blinds. Ricki hadn't realised how much of a difference the light would make. She dropped her head to face the ground, blinking rather furiously, trying to get used to the light. After a couple of moments she looked up, Nightcrawlers question zooming in her mind. She hadn't really seen many plays, but the ones she had, had quite impressive beginnings.
She raised her hand, out of habit - her mouth opening as her hand went up. "Romeo and Juliet had quite a good beginning. The fighting scene heated things up from the beginning, leaving you on the edge of your seats, wanting to see more..." she'd obviously added the last bit to make her answer sound slightly more... clever.

'AAAARG!! No I can't Be late for Drama! The best class for a morning and I'm late! Oooooh! Nightcrawler is gonna kill me!' The still half asleep Acolyte thought in frantic panic as she threw off her quilt and jumped out of bed. Giving a small frustrated groan she fumbled around the room for a hairbrush and went to her set of drawers to find an outfit for today. She adored Drama class, next to Art with Colossus it was her favorite. She favored the idea of taking on the role of somebody else and creating a world not quite like the one they where in. Something about the entire experience was magical. Of course Torri herself liked the behind the scene work, the lighting and sound where her strengths as she got stage fright quite regularly.
"Ach! Where did i put my drama notes?! Ooh I'm gonna be soooo late!!" She said while dragging a small hairbrush through her bed hair. Recently with careful coaching from Colossus she had managed to regain something of a normal form. Much like she had looked before she began shape shifting. It was a very emotional moment for the now tiny shape shifter. As it had meant her sifting through memories she was not quite ready to share with anyone else yet. But she trusted her team leader enough to at least let him help her try and gain some sort of control of her power.
As she half tumbled through the corridors of the school with her bag now hastily thrown over her shoulder and her outfit less than flattering to the young 13 year old her thoughts where only of getting to class. Down stairs and through halls she mumbled to herself of being late while she tried to get used to being so small again. Having the long legs used to help in these situations. Finally though she saw the Drama class in front of her, and to her dismay the door closed with a loud KA-blAM![/size]. She was later than she thought. So, with a sigh she slowed down to a walk and timidly rapped her knuckles against the door and closed her eyes tight. Hoping the cool blue teacher was in a good mood this morning.

Her sore muscles were making her even more late than usual. But Lian didn't care, for her pain was way more important than Drama class. Lian did enjoy performing; not professionally but for fun. It was another excuse to act retarded or just be as awesome as she considered herself to be. Thankfully she had her first cigarette of the day and she was calm about her aching body.
The team practice was brutal, but Lian enjoyed herself. In a way she was happy that she had a reason to walk even slower to class, considering she already took her time on purpose. It was a sad habit but that was Lian Xiang.
Turning around the corner, the Paragon arrived to the hallway where the Drama class was held. Ugh... make the pain stop, she groaned. Wearing her sunglasses, because the light was still too bright for her eyes to handle, Lian opened the door and gave Nightcrawler and small smile. "Sorry I'm late. Yesterday's workout really wore me out." She sat down in her usual spot next to Skyler and sighed. "I got us a surprise when we get back to the room," she whispered as a smirked emerged on her face.

Heather ran to the classroom looking like a total mess. She woke up late thanks to her stupid alarm clock not working (then again when it set off, her method of silencing it was by slamming it away, making the chord unplug and not remind her to get up 10 minutes later), then she only had 5 minutes until class started. She needed to brush her teeth and shower, therefore she did, making her already seven minutes late to class. Getting dressed wasn't difficult for she didn't care about looking her best. She hated being late to class, especially to one she liked. But out of all her classes, art was her most favorite. She was able to learn more techniques and get her drawings and designs down to perfection. And thanks to her fashion sense, Heather was getting much inspiration for a new line she was currently designing.
The past two months have been terrific for the New Mutant. Thanks to Iceman she was able to use her powers more efficiently. During practice with Shadowkat, Heather was learning combat techniques and martial arts. When it came to friends, she and Veronika couldn't have gotten any closer. The two were inseparable, which resulted in Lorelai and Heather distancing a bit. But they were still friends and cool with each other. She knew that the break up with her and Ian was harsh and she tried to be there for her. But sometimes Heather got the vibe that the ice girl just wanted to be alone.
Gavin and Heather became really close friends. They were practically like brother and sister since they would play jokes on each other all the time. Course Heather wasn't as gross or harsh as Gavin but they were friendly nonetheless.
Now she was running to class, already about 10-15 minutes late. The door was closed, therefore Nightcrawler was indeed their and would probably be upset with her. But then again, she was never late before and had a reasonable but unacceptable excuse as to why she was today. Slowing down at the door, Heather sighed and stroked back her long strawberry blond hair. She needed to layer it at least for it was actually quite some weight that added on to her head. Two months ago it was just up to her waist, now it was at the midway point of her butt. She needed a hair cut bad.
Opening the door, she winced with apology as she looked to the teacher. "I'm soooooo sooo sorry Mr. Nightcrawler," she said quickly while going to her seat next to Veronika. "I'm really really sorry." She was upset at herself for being careless, but was able to calm down once she realized that Nightcrawler was a reasonable and kind person. He wouldn't actually get mad or upset. She looked to Veronika and sighed with a tired smile. She then looked back to Gavin and waved quickly before returning her attention to her patient teacher.

"HOLY SHITS ON STICK!" Sky yelled when they door closed and she jumped square off the desk and on her feet. "Oh man Nightcrawler, that was more surprise than anticipation! Shit did you scare me!" she said laughing and took her seat in the back next to Ripple. "Surprise? What kind? It better be food," she whispered, balancing the chair on the back pegs while propping her feet on the table.
"Ok, so I don't know many plays or anything, but I so can tell you movies that started out like that. Transformers? Totally had a crazy beginning that had me at the edge of my seat going 'oh damn, oh damn.' Oh wait hey actually I do know a play! Sorta, I mean Disney is on Broadway now, but the beginning of Beauty and the Beast, where they start off kinda spooky and tell the Legend of the selfish prince and all. That builds up anticipation too right?" Sky called out in her usual manner.
"Psst Gavin," she whispered to the hot 'wingman'. "I will so kick your ass in basketball."

Sneaking in behind Ripple in her hidden state of invisibiliy as the older paragon simply walked through the door she opened and appologised to the teacher. Not saying a word until she was happily seated herself next to Taffy, a membr of her team and someone she quite liked as friend. Their reationship in a way seemed more like sisterly than team mates, Rikki acted to her much like she did to the girls in the alpha squadron. It was sweet really, Shimmer felt like she was really bonding with someone for once.
"Hey, what did i miss?" She whispered quietly as she slipped into her seat and quickly regained colour and ducking down to get her book out of her bag which had been hidden under her baggy jumper.
