Veronika and Heather cleaned up their station without much trouble since all they had to do was close up their bags and put the supplies on the shelf. She was feeling quite smug about her project, grade and all. That and she was amused by the events in class, bringing back an urge to giggle at Rumble's antics and very happy that she had a whole weekend without seeing the hairy half ape. Her day was starting out very great.
"Papa has business to attend to somewhere close by, so Mother and probably Ivan and Vladimir are going to take us to that outlet mall," Veronika said to Heather as they made their way to the dorms. "Then we will go to the marina and spend the late afternoon and night on my family's yacht. It is really quite lovely, you'll enjoy it." She took the keys out of her bag and unlocked the door to the room. Veronika's father paid for her to have the slightly larger room generously, and the room she moved into with Heather was lovely and spacious.
She switched out and dropped her Juicy Couture bag on the lounge chair and walked over to open her closet. "Now we can finally get dressed for a night out of this nut house. Impress some boys perhaps?" Veronika teased with a wink and stood back contemplating what to wear. "What do you think Heather? A skirt, sundress, or jeans?"

Everything was just drama. Then again, Heather realized this months ago when she came to the conclusion that drama wasn't inevitable within a school of hormonal mutant teenagers. Cleaning up her and Veronika's project quickly and effectively, she couldn't wait to spend the rest of the day with the Kudinov family. It was a good way to get her mind off of her current discovery of truly having romantic feelings for her best friend.
Seeing Veronika's mother made her smile warmly. Heather couldn't help but think of Serefina Kudinov as a mother figure. She definitely accepted her for whom and what she was (unlike her real mother), and being with such a perfect family made Heather feel like she was part of it. As she left the classroom, she made sure to wave goodbye to Gavin with a small smile, since he knew about her trip as well. The new chick really needs to back off, she thought bitterly.
Walking back to her room, she listened to her messages on her cell phone. Apparently her dad had some important news that he needed to tell her. But he knew about her trip with Veronika and her family and told her it could wait until later that night or the following day. Feeling a bit better, Heather joined her redheaded best friend into their room and sighed. The rest of the day was clear and open for relaxation. "That sounds great," she replied and widely. She didn't mind shopping for a bit. She could get a few skirts or shorts with the allowance her father provided for her. It was small, and for the use of fun (helped her learn how to budget). She then plopped down on her bed and heaved a relieving sigh. "Ummm," she thought while assessing Veronika's entire closet in her head. "How about that blue-green day dress?" Heather was planning to wear a dress herself, since she was going to be on a yacht for the first time and all. It was definitely a semi-formal event, something that Heather always considered as the occasion when visiting the Kudinovs. "It would be perfect for the day's events. And I could wear a day dress as well. We could match but not really," she giggled. Heather had a pretty pale yellow halter dress that she planned to wear with matching gladiator sandals. The dress was one that she designed and made, with a white strap that tied around the waist and a daisy embroidered at the bottom left of the skirt portion that flowed out. It was similar to a poodle on a 50s themed dress. When it came to fashion, Heather was definitely talented.

"Yes I think that will do nicely, it always did bring out my eyes. Like a jewel of the ocean as Mother says," Veronika said taking out the sundress and the cute brown heeled sandals. She picked up the remote and turned on the stereo to some radio hit station and started to get dress. "Ah let me guess that cute yellow one yes? You really are trying to dress to impress," Veronika pointed out and gave her a knowing look. "It would not happen to be for a certain red haired rocker? Honestly Heather, if you were any more transparent you would be invisible."
Veronika slipped her sundress on that fit her body well, custom tailored to show off her every sculpted curve. "Heather darling you are my best friend and I do adore you so, but honestly you are losing his attention to some harlot that looks like she has been knocking on death's door her entire life," Veronika pointed out taking her hair of the carefully styled bun Heather fixed for her earlier and shaking it out, her vibrant and shiny red hair falling in a series of waves and locks on her shoulders. "Now I know that you are obviously the better choice, and I know that you know that as well as everyone else who is forced to watch the two of you engage in your shameless flirting, but honestly darling you need to step it up. Have I not taught you to go for something when you want it? The walking dead came in and in a matter of a half an hour made more moves than you ever did," she said freely to her best friend, brutally honest and not even bothering to hide her feelings as she does when they were outside each other's company.
Sitting in front of their vanity, Veronika refreshed her makeup and continued to state the obvious to her friend. "Really Heather, it is one thing to lose Ian to Frostbite, but this girl belongs either in a graveyard or the East Village. You will be kicking yourself to let Gavin lose interest," she said going for the natural look with her makeup and blending her the sheer beige shadow on her eyelids. So Gavin may not be the best choice, with those horrid wings that lets everyone know he is a freak. At least he can hide them and he is not as horrid as some of the other boys here. Heather could do a lot better, but she could also do a lot worse. I suppose I can deal with Gavin as her choice.

Heather nodded, happy that Veronika understood her purpose for proposing the blue-green dress. It did look great on her and she hadn't worn it in a while. When it comes to fashion, it usually took several months for a previously worn outfit to come back out in public. However hearing Veronika state the reason for Heather wearing the yellow one, she sat up immediately and widened her eyes. "I am not wearing it for him!" she protested. It didn't sound convincing and she knew it. It explained why Veronika went into her whole speech. And what killed the water manipulator more than anything, was that Veronika was completely right. Not when it came to the name calling (which Heather thought to be a bit harsh), but with having the same thing occur with Gavin as it did with Ian.
She sighed to then open her mouth to retort. But nothing came out. She was defeated and she really couldn't hide her feelings from Veronika since she didn't deny them from herself anymore. "How could this have happened again?" she whined while plopping back down on her bed. She grabbed her pillow and placed it over her head. It annoyed her and she just didn't know what to do. But she did know that she needed to start getting dressed. Removing the pillow from her head, she hugged it and looked to Veronika through her mirror. "He doesn't like me that way. He has like twenty girls that swoon at his feet daily." She thought about how the little girls through out the rest of the school would giggle or wave hi. "Actually come to think of it, they have bigger balls than I do." She sat up and smirked at her joke. "God I'm pathetic."
She got up in order to get herself dressed. Of course make up went first and she sat at the opposite vanity that Veronika gave her. Heather was so thankful for having the heiress as her friend. Not only was she giving and kind, but overall a genuinely a good person (at least that is what Heather believed). Opening her make up kit, Heather then undid her french braid and started to brush out her hair. She was thinking of using a curling iron and then doing a layered waterfall look. As she worked on that she listened to Veronika's response.

Veronika tried hard not to roll her eyes since she was getting her mascara on, but barely succeeded. She knew how to ready guys very well for someone her age, but then she was always quite popular with boys both here and at home. They were such simple creatures, some more than others. So simple I have yet to choose one suitable for myself. Veronika sighed and picked through her different lip glosses. "Really Heather, boys are so simple. Rarely are any bold enough to pursue a girl when they are unclear of her feelings. Those kind of bold men only exist in the Early Modern Period, or Rumble for a more modern example," she said with slight disgust. Not of Rumble of course, but of his choice for a chase.
"If you sit around and wait around for a rendition of 'A Walk to Remember' or 'The Notebook', well darling you are in for a major disappointment. Boys are nothing like that, but if you let them know you are interested than things will all come together," Veronika explained plainly without sugar-coating it to her friend. "Now lucky for you I have fate that Gavin is one of tastes, but oh how to say this mildly.... Oh hang it darling, guys have a weakness for sluts and harlots. It is rather obvious on some, but it takes a strong willed guy to turn down a girl that is looser than a four year olds tooth. And I don't know how strong Gavin is, so you better move soon Heather."
She stood up and opened her Prada overnight bag to pack it with clothes and necessities. Veronika didn't need to pack much, with a day of shopping ahead of her she planned on getting more clothes anyways, and maybe pick up something for Kevin to make him feel better. I do like to care for my inner circle.

Were guys really that oblivious or just stupid? Heather heaved a large sigh. Veronika made it seem so simple and easy to handle boys. But to Heather, it was a frustrating subject. Why were guys so afraid of telling a girl that they liked them? Yes there was that fear of rejection however there was also the possibility of the girl returning the feelings. It was then that Heather wanted to smack herself since she should have been applying the same rules for herself. Of course she didn't want to make a fool of herself and admit her feelings to Gavin, only to have him freak and totally not want to be her best friend anymore. However she had more faith in him than that and knew he wouldn't take his reaction to that level.
She giggled at Veronika's references to romantic movies. She was right; no man was going to swoon her off of her feet and admit undying love for the New Mutant. Heather needed to grow a backbone when it came to guys and just expect both the best and worst outcomes. The point was to let the damn dude know how she felt and then BOOM, he took it over from there.
Nodding her head and rolling her eyes, Heather continued to do her hair while looking at Veronika with her mirror. "I guess you're right," she admitted. "But when should I talk to him?" Clearly speaking to guys about her feelings wasn't her forte. Heather curled her hair quickly but in a skilled manner. She didn't want super curls like girls did for their prom; that hair was just weird to the fashion designer. Heather's hair was neat and classy, pinned up in a formal messy bun instead of the cascading waterfall look. It matched the look of the day dress, making her look fresh and sunkist in a way. She moved on to her make up as she further analyzed Veronika's words.
"And I don't think Gavin is really going to like a girl he just met," she replied. However doubt was able to be detected within her voice. To move her mind away from that possibility, she started applying her eye shadow.

Veronika inspected her chosen wardrobe and was placing and replacing items in her bag for their trip. "Talk to him when you can darling, and do be clear as well. Unfortunately for you, Gavin does not seem the doting type so it may not be as simple as just telling him and expecting things to go from there. You may have to deal with, oh how do you call it, an assertive approach on the relationship," she said and finally settled on a bikini and a cute pair of pajamas. She planned to buy a whole new outfit anyways.
"Gavin will most likely take an interest in the girl if she amuses him. I suggest you move fast for girls can sink their claws in rather deep," Veronika said blatantly and zipped up her bag. She sat back on her lounge chair and crossed her legs, wiggling her toes in the shoes and waiting for Heather to finish. "We don't need to eat lunch here though, mother wants to try out a Japanese restaurant that one of her country club friends told her about. It will be a pleasant change from what we are used to," Veronika said with a smile at finally having cultured food.

A natural look was best for the look Heather was looking for. She applied some very light yellow eye shadow along with a blend of beige to keep it fresh looking. When it came to make up, she knew what she was doing. She sighed as she heard Veronika's further analysis of the situation and again she was right. "This isn't fair," Heather said with a giggle. "Your like three years younger than me. How is it you know how you handle guys and I don't?" But she already knew the answer to that. Even though Veronika was fourteen in age, her maturity level was incredibly higher than that (clearly).
Trying to get a move on, Heather skillfully put on a pink to clear lip gloss and then put on her dress. She looked very pretty, and she felt very clean and fresh for the rest of the day. Smiling in the mirror, she put on her shoes and then grabbed her already packed bag from under her bed. "I can't wait to try it out," she said ready to go. "You know my passion for Sushi." She grabbed her purse and packed her make up bag in her clothing bag before heading to the door and opening it. "Alright," she finally said after deep thought. "I'll talk to him first thing tomorrow." She would have to wait till then since she and Veronika wouldn't be back from their trip before that. I just hope new goth girl hasn't grabbed him by then, she thought honestly.
