And so the evening rolled in at the Xavier School and the rec room seemed to be packed to the max full of people. Some played pool, some played cards, some sat in the plush chairs and were talking about girly magazines, everyone else was surrounding the TV watching the game between the L.A. Angels and the Chicago Cubs, where shouts of anger and yells of cheers were heard once every couple of minutes from the crowd, depending on what team had their support. Ian Larks a.k.a Diesel, one of the native Californians in the crowd, was currently very unhappy. He grabbed the bowl of chips leftover from the barbecue and the dip and ate it with a less than thrilled look on his face. It had been a good start, but once Arredondo went up to bat, it was all downhill. "This blows, I got ten bucks on the Angels," Ian said munching on the chips and the sour cream and onion dip. Most of them were in their pajamas at this point and just chilling out, cause after the cookout and the cleanup, they all needed to chill. Especially cause it was an epic food fight and it took Ian forever to get pumpkin pie out of his hair. It was all worth it though, cause it seemed like everyone was chilled out and relaxed than they had been in a long time, particularly with the hard week that they had.

"Easiest ten bucks I ever earned. Dude, anytime you want to give me your money, I will gladly take it.HA!" Chase said as he rubbed his hands together in anticipation of the win and the money he was going to be raking in. The Cubs had little in the way of swagger or flash, compared to some of the bigger markets, but they were so due for some wins it was just not funny. "You and all your little bandwagon buddies." He looked around at the rest of the bunch that had put bets down with him.
"Don't worry though I'll give you a chance to win it back, the Alpha kids are playing chutes and ladders and you know I think it's more your speed. Who's got game over there eh Ian?" He laughed at the strong guy as the sound of the TV made him turn his head with a started look. "What happn'd? Whaddid I miss!?!"

"Zhat guy just hit zhe ball to zhe crowd," Jasper said from his spot on one of the couches, trying to make sense of the game. Nobody in Germany played any baseball, they just had Rugby, hockey, Soccer, and Lacrosse. Those sports he understood, but the American sport baseball made absolutely no sense to him. Jasper scratched his head, utterly confused as to what was going on. "Does zhis mean that he got a big score? Or is zhat a bad thing? Zhis sport iz pointless," he decided and crossed his arms, taking a sip of his big glass of root beer, an American drink he grew rather fond of. That and slurpies, he couldn't get enough of slurpies. He looked around at the others that seemed into the game and shook his head, just not getting the excitement about the game. In the end, he shrugged and took a handful of chips. "Are zhey not hot in zhose uniforms? Or is zhe stadium air conditioned?" Jasper asked not getting why they would run around like that in the warm weather they had lately.

Riker shook his head while looking at the crowd that watched the game. "I neve' did like that bloody sport. Tis be a Fecky the Ninth game in me eyes, like humans playin' fetch with each other. An' they call me the animal," he said with a scoff and grinned at Kat. "Here love, blow on this fer me fer luck." He grinned and held out the tip of the pool cue for her with a grin, holding her eyes the whole time just to watch her pretty lips purse together to blow out her sweet breath on the chalked up blue tip of the pool cue.
"Thank ye Love, ye do that well," Riker said with a wink and leaned over the pool table, aligning his shot to hit the striped ball in pocket across the table. "Easy now... easy...." he whispered and then hit the ball after a moment, making it shoot across the table and right into the pocket. "Ah that be the ticket. I always says I got the right touch fer gettin' the mark." Riker winked at Kat and stood back so the other person on his team could go up.
"Ya know love, at this rate yer losin' our wee wager in this game. We only got three more balls on the table," he said with a grin and leaned back against the wall with a big smug smile on his face. He did love it when the bets were interesting, and they had a very interesting bet and Riker was looking forward to pay up.

"They probably are hot in those uniforms. Who said baseball had to have any logic?" Ivy said from her spot on the corner of one couch near the boys as she watched the game with them. She was in the group of unhappy people because the Angels was her team. She liked catching the games when she saw them on. People got surprised about it, but sometimes she thought they forgot she was human and not just a walking brain with arms and legs. "He got a home run," she said somewhat grumpily as she slouched in her seat and crossed her arms over her chest. "See, Ian, this is why you don't place bets. There's a chance you'll lose some money you rather not lose," she said, looking over at him with a hint of a smirk at the silliness of boys and betting. Ivy wasn't one to bet on a game; she just watched them and occasionally yelled at the tv if she felt so inclined, and it did happen on occasion...at home, at least.
Ivy had changed into her pajamas along with a fairly sized group, only she wore her old school hoodie over her t-shirt so the majority of her skin was covered. She kind of wanted a couple chips but decided to let Ian eat them all. From all she had watched over time, it was best to just let boys eat. Then they stay relatively nice, and even though there could be a food shortage because of their black hole stomachs, she also just preferred not to come up with the chance to accidentally poison the chips. She just looked at the tv again and continued watching the game, watching with a slight scowl as the next Cubs batter got a hit from the pitcher.

"WOOT!" Ricki cheered on, before turning her head to look at all the Angels supporters. "What?! I'm gonna be cheering for both sides, I'm neutral here!" Ricki didn't really support a team when it came to baseball, to be fair she didn't really know too much about the game in detail either, but she just generally enjoyed the atmosphere created when everyone sat around together, despite the fact that things at times could get a bit... competitive? She took a sip of the orange juice that was clutched in her hand. Ricki was sat on the floor in a pare of old faded blue jeans that she'd found lying around in her room- she would've worn her PJs, but she couldn't be bothered hunting down her PJ bottom, which were lying somewhere in her room. She had a random red hairband tied over her head, because her hair was partially wet seeing she'd washed it just after the food fight, and she often placed the red band on her head when it was wet, in hope that it would give her hair a bit more volume when it was dried. Many just called it her 'blonde brain' but she honestly thought that it worked! "Yeaap, totally agree with you on that one Dwayne." Ricki added, turning her head for a split second to exchange a look with Ivy, who was sat on the couch which Ricki was leaning on for back support, before turning her head back to stare at the TV. "Oh, and Jasper... I couldn't agree more, I still don't get the obsession, but well, we're both still sitting here and watching the game anyway huh? Or well, trying to understand it... whichever, whatever... okay, shutting." she added in a whisper, sighing as she placed the straw in her mouth once more and went back to staring at the screen.

Jasper shrugged, glancing at Ivy with a slightly weird look that she actually spoke to him since he wasn't used to her being around let alone speaking to him of all people. He figured that the mood was either really getting to her or Ricki forced her out of her shell or something. "Uh jes right, I suppose so," he said with a shrug and looked back at the TV. "It is like zhat game vee were playing earlier, but vith bats und a smaller ball. Looks more like zhat Brit sport Cricket or Grasshopper or somezhing. I dun know zhat sport vell, but I do know zhat it is a pansy sport."
He took another sip of the root beer, looking at the game hard and trying to make sense of it all so he'd know exactly what was going on. It looked more similar to Kickball, but he thought that it was just a playground game and here everyonewas taking it so seriously. Its not that Jasper never heard of baseball, but nobody in Munich played much American sports, and therefore very few people paid attention to them.
"Ah I gives up, I vill leave jou all to your game und do somezhing vorthvhile," Jasper growled, getting up from his seat on the coach and walking over to the table not far from the pool table where people sat and played cards. "Vhat game is it now?" He pulled up an extra chair and sat with them, looking at the smug faces on some and the defeated ones on others. "Vhatever it is, I vant in!" He played cards pretty werll, something he picked up working in his best friend's garage and at school, when they should have been learning they played some gin or canasta.

On the other side of the room near the fireplace, Ana was lounged in front of the fire in a very relaxed and happy mood. She was reading a beauty guide that Veronika picked up for her and was leafing through it, once in awhile saying out loud something that she found interesting. She had been in a great mood since the cookout, even allowing herself the treat of one of the delicious sweet fresh baked cookies, with a cup of hot milk. "It say here Heather, that for someone with slim build like you, try the oriental style shirts and dresses. It will make your figure stand out," Ana said taking a tiny dainty bite of the cookie and flipped the page. "I have to agree, but if wear anything oriental style, I say stick with blue rather than red. Red is too bold and not many people look nice in it." Her legs swung back and forth while she licked a smudge of chocolate from her finger. "Oh here something for us, eye-shadows for blue eyes with your haircolor. It say that those with baby blue eyes and blonde hair should wear violets and lavender shades, those with red hair would look best with a rich brown shadow or light coffee color, and those with black hair and blue eyes should wear gray shadows or light purplish gray," Ana said looking up at the girls with wide eyes. "I never thought it like that. I don't even have any gray eye shadows." A slight pout formed on her lips at the thought.

Looking up from her hand as Jasper sat down Niki filled him in. "We're playin spades... or at least tryin to. I can't seem ta get these guys to be cut-throat enough, so this might be our last hand. Unless you know how to play and feel like swapping out with somebody." she looked at her partner and then at the other two players. "You know the game? It's four players, two on two and you try to bid for how many books you get and you keep the jokers in the deck.. maybe you played hearts? It's kinda like that but...?" she cocked her head slightly and squinted her eyes at him. "Any o'this gettin through to ya?" She realized this place was probably never going to hold the same kind of card players as she had come across in her travels. People who played for their only source of entertainment because there was nothing else to divert themselves from the droll existences they faced. Such was life in the ghetto, on the streets. There was a zen to card playing and a rhythm to the games she had played. A family type atmosphere surrounded the cards, yet it was not like any family she had ever known or seen. With nothing but bragging rights on the line the games took on a deeper meaning and people had been maimed or worse for throwing out the wrong card in a heated battle of spades. In a way she was grateful the games at the academy were different, but more than that she regretted never playing in those street games again. She knew she would miss the fire and the struggle, the anxiety and the joy. "So are we done with this yet? ...or what? You guys want to switch it up?" she looked around at the group and then back to Jasper. "What games do you play wingless?" she teased. He was far from the outsider anymore. Now he was almost someone she would consider a friend, she tried to limit those she called friends. It was an old habit she still clung to and with some here it was hard to let them in, but those few like Logan and Gavin, Kevin and Jasper had worked their way into her heart if only slightly. She only allowed herself to count Aideen, Ian and Beast as her friends and confidants, but in truth she knew she had far more friends than she was comfortable counting.

"Ah don't know Niki, Ah thought we were doin' pretty good, it ain't our fault if our partners ain't up for some competition," Maddy said with a grin, putting her cards on the table face down and reaching over to take a sip of the sweet southern iced tea that she brewed earlier. She loved playing cards, Baton Rouge and New Orleans were spots where the most notorious card players came out of and most money lost, though it was always downplayed next to Las Vegas. It was how those places made a good deal of money on Mardi Gras, among other things. She took the big jug of sweet tea and refilled Niki's glass and the person's next to hers before refilling her own. "We could always play us a game a' poker again, but aftah last time Ah don' think yah'll are willin' tah get your butts handed to you again." Maddy grinned referring to earlier when she had some huge winning streak that came partly with luck and partly with skill. With the looks on the others faces, she had to laugh as she picked up her cards again. "Well if it'll make yah'll any betta' Ah'm bettin mah lucky streak is done bah now. We can try again an' Ah'll give yah'll a chance t'win some o' your money back," she said with a wink. She played enough card games how to win and lose gracefully, but she was comfortable enough to tease them gently. "Oh Ah'm sorry where are mah manners. Jasper right? Would yah like some sweet tea? Anyone else want more while Ah'm askin'?" Maddy looked around at the others at the table and wrapped her hand around the handle of the jug.

Kevin took a long hard look down the table. Lining up the shot with one eye and trying to picture the best way to sink what ball and wich one where. He was just watching for the moment, but he woulda have loved to play. He liked Riker, still to this very day since the first time he ever saw him and he was sorta glad he could'nt shake the crush he had on him and he wished how things could have been different but he knew what the deal was and he excepted it begrugingly. He tried to picture himself in Kat's place and how she felt and how it felt for his Riff-Raff to be touching her. He didn't want to think of it, but he could'nt get him for himself so he had to do the next best thing and imagine it. He just knew he woulda have been Riker's partner if his hand was able to hold the stick, but it was still too sore from his sparring with Niki and he was a little too short for the table still to make some shots if the balls were way out in the middle of the table and he had to reach for them and he hated to use the bridghe because it just was so goofy looking and it was like a cruch or something with a Mickey Mouse glove looking thingy on the end of it. It was just stupid looking if you asked him. "Oh that's gonna be a touh one." he said from his perch on the window seat. He had stood up to make sure he did'nt miss anything on the table. That was another one of his problems when it came to pool he shot too quilcky because he didn't look at all the balls that were availuble to him. That was not his problem in love though, he had looked and the problem was that he only saw on guy that was availuble to him and he was'nt sure if he wanted him or not. He knew he didn't looove him, but if Riker was right it did'nt matter, and he should just mess around. He sat back down on the plush padding of the window seat and folded his legs up under him indian style and rocked there just even so slightly. "Nice break thouh." He did'nt want to say too much since he did'nt need Kris coming over to him and making his desishon harder. He knew he had played with him outside and mabey that was'nt right, but at the time he was feeling silly and excited at the idea. A shower to get the sunblock off of him and take a bit of time to think on what he had done was giving him a feeling that he may have made a mistake in opening that door to Kris. He did'nt even like fem guys and Kris, even thouh he was built nice and was tall he was surely fem. He looked around the room at the other guys and saw slim pickin to chose from. Gavin and Jasper were straigt so was Ian and Riker was so straight and so unavailuble he had to chuckle to himself that Kat was looking proud as if she had caught a canary. Kevin smiled at the idea that she could put a leash on that wolfboy, he was all for play and not for setlling down and she would learn the hard way with a broken heart. At that thouht he stopped lauhing to himself because he made himself sad thinking about her all upset with a broken heart, he had been there over that guy and knew it was not a good feeling. Kris, well he was so not going to think about any more tonite if he could get away with it and Chase was there but he was like one of those wild cards that you knew nothing about. Kyle was in need of too much work right now to even cunsider and even with the idea of a speed dial for fun, Kevin turned his nose up not wanting to go there. Dante was Ok to look at but he was looking pretty straight too. Kevin looked down at his wraped hand and shook his head, it was going to be a lonely life for him.

Heather chewed on the end of her pen. She was reading a silly quiz in her Seventeen magazine titled 'How Compatible Are You and You're Guy', accompanied with ten questions for her and 'her guy". She thought about the last one since she and Gavin had only been dating a couple of days, but she liked doing these little quizzes for fun. She never believed in a magazine when it came to her future and life advice. "Eh, I tried purples and they just make me look like I haven't slept in weeks. But lavender I can see helping that situation," she said to Ana while still concentrating. "I think you can work out a red dress though. Usually dark haired girls look fabulous in red and your skin is fair enough to really make it work." She took a sip of her hot cocoa and then returned back to her last question. "Gavin come here already!!" she said. "I know you're only avoiding this but it's just for fun. Stop being such a baby about it." She looked back at the T.V. and couldn't help but giggle at Ian's expression. She knew that he was upset about his team not winning and she just had to laugh about it. Aside from being a football fan, Heather also liked her baseball. And since she was from New York, she was definitely a Yankees kind of gal. They were doing well for the season so far, and as always was one of the top three in their division. "Switch to Fox," she said to Ian. "I just wanna see the score." She knew not to ask Ian to change the channel. Once he got the T.V. you couldn't debate with him, especially if it had to do with his sports. Heather learned to accept that and just moved on.

"Leave me alone woman, I'm workin' here," Gavin yelled in a mock Italian accent and leaned over the pool table, taking a minute to line up his shot. He wasn't the best pool player but he liked the game. "Besides, I already know my ideal color of eyeshadow." He hit the ball and watched it sail across the table, just barely tapping the ball instead of hitting it to hit the other ball so he could sink on in. "Eyyyy, Eeeyy, you made me lose ma concentration woman," Gavin said throwing his hands up in the air in the mock Italian manner and shook his fist at Heather.
"Alright Kat, you're up, quit doing kinky animal mating stuff with Riker. Isn't it a question of species here? It's like if you have a kid it will be a half human version of Cat-Dog?" Gavin teased and dodged any swipes that the comment may have earned him. In truth, he was really surprised how into this girl Riker seemed. The two of them were buddies enough for him to know that he didn't care for showing any more than casual flirtatious interest in chicks, saying life was not worth it to stick to one dish and not sample others, or something like that. That being the case, Gavin was not going to pass up the chance to tease them a bit.
"Oh yea when you gonna do my ink up Kitty Kat?" he asked nudging her slightly before she got up to hit her shot. "Or do I gotta get in line before your boyfriend?" Gavin grinned again and went back to dodge any hit from that, laughing to himself. "Oh man this is too much fun." He laughed again and nudged Kevin with his arm. "Look at the little wolf man acting like a little puppy for the attention of a pretty kitty. Ain't it precious?" Gavin said winking at Kevin and pretending to wipe a tear from his eyes.

"Yer just jealous, me pretty birdy, that while Riker be gettin' all o' this," Kat said, getting up and swishing her hips a little, "Ye be gettin' squat. 'Tis okay, mate, but no need to poke at the poker, eh?" she said with a smirk as she twirled her pool stick in her hand and bumped hips with Gavin teasingly before winking. "That be me own job, songbird." She moved to the table to take her shot, making a motion of bending over the table to cast a sharp eye over the remaining balls she needed to try to sink. Had she a real tail it would've been slithering from side to side in the air, but she settled for changing her stance over the table to take her shot. She wasn't bad at pool and sometimes she had her moments, and she hoped this would be one of them. That bet with Riker was one she wanted to win, but doubted she wouldn't mind losing. Even if she lost, she knew she could probably win some other way because it was just that easy.
The balls cracked as she took her shot, and a little pout came on her face as it didn't go the way she wanted this time. "Blimey, it just didn' wanna go down for me!" she said, standing up and turning around, continuing to pout childishly as she sat back down, primly crossing one leg over the other as she looked up at Gavin. "As fer yer tat, all ye need say is when ye want it. Riker wants different tats then ye do, and those I can do any other time and much easier," she said with a sly grin as she looked from Gavin to Riker. "Aye, fit yerself into me schedule and remind me again what ye want, and where..." she said, smirking as she looked Gavin over pointedly, but playfully. Although she quite enjoyed playing like she was with Gavin, even if it was so that he was with the Bubblehead, she didn't mind making her game with Riker that much more fun especially when it seemed that they were attached at the hip, so to speak.

Spinning his goalie as he slid him into place for the block, Scott laughed out through snarled teeth. "Heh, good shot Kyle, but I have been playin Foose-Ball since forever and there's only a handful of people on this earth that can beat me. Keep trying though and maybe I'll teach you some trade secrets..." He did a slide pop and spun his row of guys to kick the ball forward.
"...like THAT one! Yesss" Pumping his fist in the air at the score he looked over at Fleet "Uh, AHeM...well, uh yes, I guess that's another point for me." he slid right back into a modicum of military bearing as he reached over to dial up one more point. "Here's a hint, you have to feel where everything is, it takes some time but you'll get it. It's a sense of things right through the palm of your hand once you get the feel for it then nobody will beat you. Think you want to give it a try?"
He looked over at the white blonde hair of the Paragon and watched him mull it all over. He could see the wheels turning in the young man's head as he stood there unsure of how good an idea it would be to try another play, but Cyclops knew that the never say die spirit of Kurt's Paragons was alive and well within Fleet. It was why he had returned and why he hadn't given up and why he was still willing to deal with the abuse of the other students as he had. He was taking it all in stride and Scott knew it wouldn't be long until he was up to his old humor and spirits. "Ready?" He reached down and grabbed the ball from the return and got himself ready to drop it a Kyle's urging.
