His Harley Davidson gave them distraction enough for a time but it could only last so long, and Logan knew what needed being done. The look on his Aideen's face, sweet.. somber, trusting, almost broke his heart as he knew his leaving her there would break hers.
He wouldn't allow the torment of the news to continue and he had returned the channel to his hockey game, after all, the Stanley Cup playoffs were only a week or two out and his Angel Eyes didn't need to be continually reminded of the situation. They had shared a beer in the cool darkness of the underground hangar, the closest their lips could come.. the glass lip of the bottle they passed back and forth between them.
The only proper thing to do then was to walk her 'home', to her room where she'd be safe. He wanted that time with her. It would be what sustained him until he saw her again so he walked slowly as they talked, making her smile once or twice was all he could hope to do. Though the tone was light and his words harmonious with the moment, when she would miss him in his absence to come she would look back to this time and find comfort in the sincerity of his love and all that he felt for her showing in his eyes and on his face, yet only after he had gone would she hear his words of goodbye interlaced through it all.
There was not much else he could do, but when he finally left her there with her room mate he looked into her deep chocolate eyes for a long moment, deep into her soul, before he pulled her into a tight embrace and whispered into her ear. "I'll be back soon, sit tight and stay safe" his lips brushed against her ear, for the simple need of touching her skin, before he forced himself to leave her there with his heart literally breaking in his chest as he pulled back and away.
...Outside Cyclops Office...
Knocking was not something Logan did when the guy behind the door didn't deserve the respect of asking permission to enter, so when he tapped a knuckle on the hardwood of the door just before barging in to Scott's office he surprised himself. "Yeah, I need a minute" he said as he shut the door quietly behind him and spun to see the Headmaster and his little pink foofoo sunglasses on the phone behind the desk.
Patience was one of Logan's virtues, but not when it came to the concerns of his Angel Eyes, he walked up to the desk and placed a finger down on the phone's receiver hanging up the call. "I said I need a minute." The look on his face making it clear there was no room for discussion, he would take his minute.
