Piotr put the last long in place, surveying the circle he made with some of the logs he had spent time cutting and making into makeshift benches. The practice today was one he felt the Acolytes needed desperately. It wasn't just because of all the new people on the team, but ever since the problems with Frostbite, there was a lot of tension on the team. They needed to be repaired to be as strong as Piotr knew they could be. Right now, those that have been on his team for a long time seem to be showing mistrust toward the newer members of the team, and he needed to clear the air.
Ultimately, his goal was to have a strong team that trusted each other and worked together. The Acolytes didn't work as a family the way the New Mutants did, and they weren't gang-like with a hierarchy like the Paragons, but the Acolytes should have had the strength of trust and friendship to get them through anything. Piotr knew that it wouldn't be accomplished by today's session, he didn't even know how far this session would take them since he was expecting a good number of them to be uncooperative. It was a good thing that he was patient, because he had a feeling he'd need it.
He sat down on one of the logs in the circle and watched as his Acolytes started arriving. They were all hopefully sated from dinner, an interesting one it was indeed. Piotr was proud of the X-Men's newest addition and looked forward to working with her. He knew that it would be a topic of interest for certain students, and hoped he could get everyone settled for tonight's exercises. "Good evening everyone! Please take a seat!" he called to his team with a smile and gestured to the area around them.

Aideen's words had burned in her ears. She hated that she didn't have permission to make Rumble pay for all he had done to upset someone she cared so much about, not that she ever needed permission for anything she did, but coming from Aideen it had weight. The thing was, she knew it would have only made Ember look bad if she stepped in and muddied the water. The waters were already muddy enough between those two.
The fact that nothing happened was cold comfort to Niki, but at least now Brock knew she was off limits and at that the palest Acolyte could breathe a little easier. She wasn't a fool though, she knew he'd still try something. It shouldn't be anything like what the roommates knew he was a part of, what Logan was investigating, and what she had a feeling Aideen was going to do something about.
After diner, at the ceremony in the cafeteria she had cheered the loudest. Even though she knew it was coming it still gave her goosebumps when Aideen had been promoted in front of them all. She looked at Cyclops with different eyes after the time in her room and she could see how proud he was of Aideen, and how all of the X-Men looked, somehow they seemed a little more accessible now that her roommate was one of them.
It all played in her mind as she walked up to join Colossus and it might have been the reason she was the first to arrive at the team practice, but she didn't want to give too much weight to it. She thought it had more to do with wanting to battle some old ghosts she was hanging on to. Thinking of Rumble and Sabretooth had put her in a mood to fight and she was going to enjoy this practice, or so she thought until she saw the setup and wondered how it was going to go.
"Hey. So, this looks" she shot him a sidelong glare "interesting. I hope we didn't get a bunch of scrubs because I really need a good practice." She stepped into the ring and looked around behind her seeing more of the team coming up. "Lets go Acolytes!" she called back to them "Come on get the lead out!"

Dinner was a very interesting and satisfying occasion for Jocelyn, only because she got to see her Goddess in Leather in her sexy new uniform as she got names one of the elite of the X-Men. Being that she sat with Liv, Maddy, Gavin, Ricki, Ana, Jax, Kris and Romon, she got the entertainment of watching Ana throw a roll at Jax for staring and drooling at Ember and the banters that occurred at dinner were just pure entertainment. Liv and her were having a blast bugging Jax and Gavin and Romon was pretty damn cool too. That's how she walked to the team practice that Pete told her about, arm in arm with Maddy and Romon, all while babbling to Ricki. "Money says, next time we see Jax he's gonna be clutching his nuts," Joce said with a giggle looking between the two of them and winking at Ricki. "Hey Petey!" She waved when removing her hand from Maddy's arm. She had her new uniform on that she had to say she wasn't as fond of it as she was of her Atlantean armor. It seemed to cover her more than she would like and the shorts in her opinion could be a little bit shorter. Atlanteans hated the constricted clothing most surface dwellers wore and Joce also found a disdain for it. She could withstand very cold temperatures as it was in her Atlantean blood and rarely felt the need to cover up even half as much as she was now, which honestly wasn't all that much. "Hey Petey! We having a pow wow or something? This looks awesome!" She grabbed Romon and Ricki's hand and dragged them to take a seat next to her. "This is like a bonfire set up, I totally love it." Joce grinned at them and sat herself in between them. She really liked Ricki, the girl was fun even if she did blush easily, it was adorable. So far she liked almost everyone on her team, though she didn't care for Ian's girlfriend much. People with thorns in her ass weren't her style, though she had an easier time getting over it with guys than she did with girls. It was all together unpleasant for her to encounter a girl like that, and after the initial encounter it just turned Joce off to the point where she had no desire or plans to bother again. "Ro' is gonna love it when I write her and tell her I'm on your team Pete. Though she said she's gonna send a bottle of wine to whoever gets to deal with me after her," she added with a giggle. As much as she missed her old team leader, Pete was just as awesome and Joce was as attached to him as she was to a lot of the teachers, since they practically raised her.

Ricki giggled at Joce, as she settled down next to her room-mate who she had already grown a liking for. Ricki'd only known the blue Acolyte a day, and she'd already made such a presence amongst the students here. She was just... there really was no other for it, cool. It was just so easy to be around her new team-mate. Ricki'd also spoken quite a bit to Romon during Lunch and the Evening, and she had to admit he was downright awesome too. "I'm sure Romon would love to see that Joce, did you see him looking at Ana?" Ricki grinned cheekily at Romon, shaking her head. "You'll have to join the back of the line Romon! Ana has a lot of admirers!"
Ricki had noticed that Romon was completely mesmerized by Ana while around her, and she couldn't help but tease him a little about it. She crossed her arms across her chest, as she took in the set up Colossus had organized. She hadn't caught on to what the Acolyte team captain had in mind just yet, but she was sure that whatever it was, it ought to be benificial for the team. "Heya Pete!" Ricki greeted her team captain ever so brightly, "Wow, this looks so cool! I must say though, I can't quite figure out what you have in mind! Oh well- I guess we'll find out soon enough!" Ricki'd been waiting for this team practice for a while now- so much had been going on with the Acolytes, that Ricki felt like the team needed a good practice to re-gain their stability as a team. It would be the perfect opportunity for the new members, like Maddy, Johnny and Romon to get to know the team better, and Ricki hoped that it would help Katana and Ivy also fall back into the groove of things.
"Gavin! Ian! Hurry uppppp! I'm getting a little impatient!" she called out into the hedge, before she returned her attention back to the team, fiddling absent mindedly with the sleeves of her Uniform. Much unlike Joce's uniform, Ricki's Uniform covered her whole, up to her neck and down to her ankles. She wasn't too hot in the uniform, despite what it may have appeared to be. Her uniform was designed especially to allow her to stretch without having to worry about her modesty or anything of the sorts. "Hmm, I wonder where Ivy, Leah and Kev have gotten to! Oh, and Johnny! Hmm, I haven't really spoken to him that much- but I guess that's why we have team practice right?" Ricki shrugged, grinning at the rest of the team. "I'm quite excited about this practice!" she chirped at Joce, feeling quite hyped up at the prospect of the team spending some time together.

"Look, come on let's go, they're calling for us. I told you the uniform looks fine, trust me it's a great fit so stop messin around with it and lets go." Kevin said to his room mate. The tentative peace they had between them after all the help Kevin was to Carter, getting him his uniform and helping him with the sizing and by encouraging him to come out and join the group, was being stretched already. But Kevin wasn't harsh at all, just worried.
"I really hate when we're late, please don't make me late. Colossus is wonderful, but you don't want to be late to a practice- noooo sir. So pleeeease, can we run faster?" he begged as the pair rushed up past Gavin and then Johnny and Leah to come to a halt in the strange circle of logs and benches. Panting only slightly since his cardio work had been somewhat replaced with weight training as per Ian's workout schedule he'd made up for him, he looked up at Peter with a smile. "This is new, you *pant* do this yourself? *pant* Tonight?"
He looked over at Carter and nodded at him with a smile as if to say we made it. The kid wasn't in bad shape at least he was hardly out of breath, and Kevin was sorta proud that he had made the first steps toward fixing what his stupid swollen ego had messed up when Carter first arrived. He walked over and sat on the bench across from everybody else just to fill out the space, since he was sure Pete didn't put it all out there for them to bunch all up like a flock of lemurs or something.

A smile came on Romon's face as he looked at Ricki, trying his best to appear as innocent in the implication as possible. "I admire beauty of all forms, I cannot be blamed for that," he answered with dignity as he thought of how fun it was to dance with Ana in French class. She was light on her feet and had a wonderful laugh that went with her sweet smile. From the way that she acted with her new boyfriend though, he couldn't decide if she was terribly unhappy with him or just had as short of a temper as Tia warned him, though she had been nothing but sweet to him.
Dinner time had been an interesting affair and not only because Romon got a chance to meet more people and hang out with Ana some more, but he got to see a promotion to the X-Men his first dinner at the school. Not just any promotion either, for he too had felt the breath caught in his throat as he watched what was quite possibly one of the most stunning women he had ever seen receive the honor of witnessing in his lifetime. From the sounds of some of the other guys, he knew that he wasn't the only one with that thought.
Romon nodded at his team leader and settled comfortably next to Jocelyn, unable to keep himself from smiling with her around. She had a very warm nature, and she was the reason that he found himself laughing and joking back with her. Her, Maddy and Ricki he found himself taking an instant liking to, and it helped that they were all easy on the eyes. He looked around at the practice ring, wondering what there was in store since he heard from Ricki how practice usually involved working with their powers.

With a sigh, Ivy picked at her gloves as she walked behind Ian and Gavin by herself. The day wasn't easy at all for her and she had been far from the top of her game with the classes and everything. It started off with her being nervous for the day because she felt another cold coming on and didn't want to end up in the medical bay for a number of months, but then after Technology, her mood got worse. Though Ivy would never admit it, it felt like a stab in the gut walking through the hallway and seeing Clutch and RAM engaged in a passionate kiss, the kind she never had and the kind she knew realistically she probably would never have. It brought back a dull ache, one that she suppressed when she was around Ian and Niki, and Sean and K'8 but it just wasn't fair!
It was like since then, Ivy's depression only sank. In French she got to watch the perfect Veronika dance with Ian, who was just so sweet and nice. She watched Ana moved smoothly across the dancefloor by all her admirers, including one that just met her. She knew she would never be as pretty as Ana and Veronika, and as bubbly as Ricki, and that's what usually made her blend in the background. Sometimes though, it got really disheartening even for Ivy. It was days like today that she would have given anything to be like them; to have guys fawn over her and be noticed and admired and have people pushing each other to sit with her.
Dinner only made everything worse for her. She had sat on the side and watched Ricki joke and blush with Gavin and Romon, watching Jocelyn make friends with everyone nearby. The worst though had to be during Ember's ceremony. She always had a feeling that the Corsair would be the first to join the X-Men, but the way everyone stared at her just made her feel worse about herself. She knew she could never be stunning and make guys catch their breath like that the way Ember could, and what was worse that she wasn't even trying. All she did was stand there and she had everyone looking at her like she was a Goddess or something. Ivy hated that she would never know that feeling while some girl that didn't even seem to want it got it all the time.
She smoothed her rubber gloves on her bright red uniform that clashed with her hair as she gave Pete a small smile and sat down on one of the empty logs near Niki. Ricki seemed to be having so much fun that she didn't want to be a fifth wheel and bring her down. Ivy was really happy for her friend that she was now out of her shell without her and Torri to worry about, she just wished she could do the same thing. "Evening Pete," she said quietly and pushed a stray hair that fell from her ponytail out of her face, adjusting her glasses on her nose. She folded her hands and tried hard not to look disappointed by all the fun everyone else seemed to have while she was stuck in this rut.

"Uh-uh, admirin' her mah foot," Maddy said nudging the hot Jamaican guy with her elbow as she sat on the other side of him. "Dis boy got an envie fo' de tall pretty lil' model wit' dem crazy baby blues. He was lovin' dat she got mad as a hellcat at Jax fo' lookin' at dat hot lil' X-Men." She winked at Romon and giggled, shaking her head as she thought of the fun she had at dinner. Maddy couldn't do anything more than laugh when she saw almost all the guys in the room have their eyes bug out and wiping drool from their chins at the sight of the Newest member of the X-Men. It was just awesome for Maddy to witness period though. She didn't know if she was cut out to be an X-Men ever, but it was really cool to see someone upgrade to that status and that it was actually possible.
"It looks like de start of a bonfire or somethin'," Maddy said looking around at the little circle and shifting in her uniform. She had on long red leather pants and a halter top that actually looked really cute and she loved that it showed off the large tattoo of a Geisha hiding behind a hibiscus flower that covered most of her back. Maddy liked that all the uniforms were different styles that were made to suit each person individually, it made it feel less militant and more personal, just like her Roller Derby team at home. "Ah take it we ain' havin' a fight in the ring den?" she said quietly to Romon and Ricki.

Ian walked to practice with a HUGE grin on his face. His mouth dropped open when Ember was announced as the newest X-Men but he stood and whistled his head off while pretty much clapping his hands raw. It was like the coolest thing ever to see, he'd been at the school for a while but he had yet to see anyone promoted to the X-Men like that. Honestly before then Ian didn't even think it could happen, and it kind of made him hopeful that one day that would be him up there, cause that would just be too awesome. "Dude... that was seriously like one of the coolest dinners ever," he said to Gavin, still shaking his head in disbelief.
He smacked johnny on the back lightly, well lightly for Ian, and grinned at him. "Awesome first dinner huh bro? I'm like stoaked about it and that was like my... well I don't know but I had a lot of dinners here," he said and looked around at the circle that Colossus made. "This is a first Pete man, what's up?" Ian took a seat next to Niki and grinned at her. "Man if we had marshmallows this would be perfect." He settled back and looked around at the other Acolytes, smiling when he caught their eye. "Whoa Maddy babe, I dig the ink on the back!" he said leaning back to get a better look at her tattoo. "Come on guys, let's sit so we can get started!" Ian yelled for the rest of his team to hustle.

You're late. Leah thought resignedly as Hardlight ran past her and she heard Colossus calling for the team. She started to jog, but then gave up and stopped. I should just go back before I f*ck up more. The day had not gone as she had planned it at all. She'd worked like the devil to catch up on her assignments just to be yelled at in both of her classes. Apparently, even when she tried she just couldn't be good enough. Now she'd skipped dinner to stretch and run a few laps in a hopeless attempt to not sprain something and be totally useless at practice, only to be late. But she wasn't the only one, so maybe it wouldn't be too bad. Pulling her hair back out of her eyes, she started to jog again.
Finding a place by herself was difficult, but she managed. She figured if she didn't talk then she couldn't get in too much trouble. Maybe people would just ignore her. There were new people who were likely as ill prepared for practice as she was, and hopefully she could just listen to whatever instructions Colossus gave them and try to copy. Maybe it'll rain. She looked up at the heavens but there were no clouds. D*mn. So she folded her hands in her lap and sat quietly trying to calm the knots in her stomach.

Carter eyed Hardlight skeptically and moved to sit on the other side of the log benches next to a girl with glasses. At dinner, he sat by himself and watched everything happen with wide eyes, gathering that it was some seriously big kind of honor. He knew he'd never make it to hero status and be asked to become one of the X-Men, but it was really cool that someone else did and he got to see it. It was really the highlight of Carter's whole day, as most of it was spent trying to avoid his roommate and everyone else. He was supposed to go to Technology class but ended up getting lost on the way and was just too embarrassed when he finally found his way again.
It was hard for him to talk to anyone, especially the girls around here. Liv wasn't so bad, but the others were just either too pretty for him to talk to, or just too much in general. He hadn't really found anyone he liked all that much, even if Colossus seemed really nice and so did Ian, but everyone else was just too much for him. Even though Hardlight tried to be helpful, Carter was still really suspicious of him, and frankly was just waiting for him to do something horrible and nasty.
He managed to mumble a soft "Hello" to Colossus before he looked down at the hands on his lap and looked down at them, trying not to draw attention to himself. With all the pretty girls that sat around him, the last thing he wanted to do was to open his mouth and make a fool of himself. At the moment, Carter was coaching himself in his head to not do or say anything stupid that would make the team think less of him.

It took all Johnny had in him to not visibly wince when Ian smacked him on the back. Talk about a 'hard hit', he thought and stretched his back lightly to get rid of the stinging pain. His day was actually not too bad. Heather was a good tutor, though they worked all through the afternoon and up until dinner. She was really patient and explained things to him simply. It felt kind of nice to have someone explain it to him just so simply in such a friendly manner, rather than the way it was with the other tutors he had where he felt like a dumb kid most of the time. Johnny was starting to look forward to having another tutoring session with her, and he knew they had another one scheduled for the next morning.
Dinner proved to be just as interesting as the rest of the day had been. It was had to believe that on his first dinner, he got to see a student promoted to an X-Men. Emma Frost had mentioned to him that it was something that happened to some of the students once they studied and trained under their guidance after awhile, but it was crazy to see it happening. To top all that off, despite his state of mind about people in general, he had to look twice when he saw the girl on stage. There was a reason why it seemed like all the guys around him had their mouths dropped open and stared, even Johnny was guilty of blatantly staring at her. She was simply stunning in one word, exotically ethereal in two words. She was far too intimidating for him to fantasize about, but he wouldn't be a guy if he didn't look twice at her.
Now here he was, in his new full bodysuit uniform, for the first time really seeing all of his teammates. A smile came on his face when he looked at Jocelyn, but with her personality it was impossible not to smile around her. Maddy also had an amazing smile that he was growing to like a lot. Johnny always thought that a girl was at her prettiest when she smiled. Maybe that's why he didn't have the same reaction as all those other guys did to the newest X-Men; he liked smiles too much and she was as serious and stoic as ever. "Hello sir," he said to the team leader while he sat back and watched everyone get ready to begin whatever they were doing.

As each of his team members settled around on the logs, Piotr would smile and wave at them. Now that everyone was sitting down and settled though is when he stood up and waited as a wave of silence came over the group. "Good evening everyone, let me start with welcoming many of our first timers to Acolyte practice. I know many of you were some hands on training with your powers today," he said glancing at Niki with a small smile. "But that is not what we will be doing today. In order to practice as a team, we must first be a team." Piotr moved to stand just in between the space between two of the logs so he could look at everyone on his team. There were so many more new faces to add to the older ones that he knew he had his work cut out for him.
"For those of you who have been here for awhile, you are well aware the trust issues that occurred within the team. There was not much I could do to help that, though you certainly cannot say I didn't try. However, now we are a new team, and with a new team and new team members is a time for all of us to renew our commitment to each other and our reliance on the Acolytes being whole again," he said looking at all of them in turn. "From this moment on, we need to start fresh. We need to let go of whatever prejudices and judgments we hold against one another and start with a clean slate. And I mean all of us." Certain members from the team got a particular look from him, and they knew exactly who they were,
"Until we are a team again and can work with each other as a team should, we will not be doing any Danger Room sessions." He brushed off all the groans of protest that came with that remark, shaking his own head in response. "No, that is a final decision. Until you are all ready, we will be spending not just practice, but free time as well getting together as a team. There will be no hierarchy on this team, every one of you is as valuable and needed as the other. No one will receive special treatment based on their power or seniority. Is that clear?" Piotr looked around and stayed silent until he got at least a nod of confirmation from everyone.
"Very Good. To start off this evening's plan, which will extend beyond this practice time, I will be pairing all of you up in groups of two. This week and every week afterward you will all spend a minimal of one hour with the person you are paired with per day unless stated otherwise. You will learn about them, and you will remember that the person you are with may save your skin in the future, and you need to be able to depend on them to do that. I will call off the pairs and I want you to go sit with that person and wait for further instructions." He waited a moment for everyone to collect themselves before he took out a piece of paper and began calling off names.
"Diesel and Taffy, StormHawk and Katana, Veil and UPstart, Hardlight and Legacy, Haven and Splice, and NightShade and Klash." The facial expressions that came with his choosing almost made Piotr want to smile, but he didn't because he needed all of them to see how serious he was about all of this. "Next week we will switch off pairing, but for this week the person you are sitting next to is your priority to get to know. And to have an 'icebreaker'' activity, tonight's practice will consist of an exercise called 'Blind Man Guide.' Whoever is older between the two of you will be blind folded with the bandannas I have right here first. It is the other person's job to verbally guide them to the start of the hedge and back. Then you will switch positions when you are complete. Remember you may only verbally guide the person, no leading them or anything and I will be watching all of you to ensue fair play. Do we understand?" Piotr looked at all of them carefully before he nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Begin!"

Personally, Ricki was not in the least bothered by the fact that they weren't doing Danger Room sessions. Sure- she enjoyed using her powers and working on them immensely, but she knew exactly where Colossus was coming from in his thinking, and she thought it was perhaps the best thing for the team right now even if some others may have disagreed. She skipped over and grabbed two blindfolds- one she kept and the other she tossed over to Jocelyn. "C'monn Joce, our partners await!" Ricki trilled, grabbing Joce's hand and pulling her along (or rather trying to pull her along) to where Ian and Niki were, her face all lit up. "Looks like you're gonna have to put up with me for a whole week Ian!" Ricki said brightly, holding out the blindfold for Ian to take. "I promise, that I will annoy you until you want to turn me into a rubber ball and chuck me through the basketball hoop!"
Being paired up with Ian was no hassel for Ricki at all. He was like a brother figure to Ricki, and in all fairness she knew the two of them would get through this task without much hassel. Ricki trusted Ian with her life- she'd been in a fair few Danger Room sessions with him, and he had risked his neck of her enough times for Ricki to know that no matter what, Ian wouldn't ever let her get hurt if he could help it, and it was the same from Ricki towards Ian. She cared a lot about Ian, and to be honest, she doubted she could've asked for a better partner. She wouldn't necessarily have complained if she'd been paired with Gavin, but she didn't think it was wise- spending so much time with him. Not really.
The other pairings on the team had also been pretty well thought out, from Ricki's point of view. It would be great for Leah to get to know Gavin- she knew Gavin wasn't someone who was desperately fond of Leah, but he was a reasonable guy, and perhaps spending time with him would help Leah ease into the team. Ricki didn't know Carter to well yet- she'd only spoken to him once or twice, but she knew for a fact that someone like Maddy was exactly what Cartner needed to settle in a little more. Ricki didn't know Johnny that well, but she figured that him and Kevin would also be an interesting pair- they were really different, but it was a good idea to get them aquainted from the beginning. Niki and Joce... well, they would sure be something to see. They also struck Ricki as two opposide ends of a pole, but hey, like they said, opposites attract- right? Maybe those two could reach an understanding. Plus, it'd be cool for Niki to actually hang out with some girls. Ivy and Romon, were both not exactly overly talkative, and Ricki could see the duo getting on pretty well, if they made the effort.
"C'mon big guy, I'm going to have to steer you away from Niki, now!" Ricki shot Niki a slight apologetic glance, considering the fact that she figured that Niki would've preferred to work with Ian. "We have a task to acee! You're the oldie here, so let's get that blindfold on you so we can make it through..." Ricki paused for effect, her voice going slightly dramatic as she concluded with, "the maze!" Her lips spread out into a wide smile, as she aimed a light punch at Ian's shoulder- which he probably didn't feel at all anyway. It was almost as easy around Ian, for Ricki, as it was around Gavin. She did speak to Ian a little outside of Team-Time, but not as much as she thought she ought or would've liked to have.

Colossus was not high on Gavin's list of people he liked right then, and he literally had to bite back a groan. This was not an arrangement he cared for in the least bit, and for once he actually sent a glare at Colossus for putting him in this position. It really was no surprise that Gavin wasn't fond of Katana. He was really tight with all the Paragons, and he'd been in multiple classes where she went ape shit crazy for no reason. That, and her people skills were non-existent. This sucks.
Gavin forced a small smile as he placed the bandanna over his eyes with a sigh. "Try not to make me run into a pit or a tree will ya?" he said trying to keep his tone light and make the best of the situation. Why couldn't he get paired with someone else, like Maddy or Jocelyn. They were awesome and hot, so it was a two for one kind of deal. Instead he got paired with the basket case. Fastening the bandanna over his eyes, he made sure he was already facing the hedge now that he was blind and with all the little holes and rocks in the dirt, Gavin had to trust that she wouldn't make him fall into a tree or something. "Lead the way then," he said keeping up that light tone. A smirk went on his face as he knew Ricki would be proud of him when she heard he at least made an effort with Katana.
