Aideen's eyes fluttered open and her eyes adjusted to the sunlight streaming into her room. Oh perhaps it was a warmer day, that is slightly better. She looked over at the clock and saw it was a bit late. Nine am, she really slept in. But then again, she was following Emma Frost's instructions to rest and had the day off. Perhaps that meant she had nothing to do with classes or leadership duties. That wasn't so bad.
Aideen pushed her fur covers off and sat up in bed, looking around her sunlit room. It was rather a cozy room. Much nicer than her room back home. The mattress was much more comfortable, back home all she was a tightly stretched out canvas with fur covers and a fur pillow to sleep. It wasn't too bad but very stiff. Plus her room only have a dresser and a desk with some books on it for school and bare flooring. This was much cozier and more luxurious, though her Uncle would certainly not approve. Aideen stood up and walked to her bathroom, which she lit up with candles since she preferred her bathroom window covered, though it was small to begin with.
She undressed and got a bath running. It was nice that she got a claw-foot bathtub and her own bathroom. From what she knew, the other rooms that did share a bathroom were much bigger than hers so it was all fair. Aideen added her black raspberry vanilla bubble bath into the boiling hot bath before she stepped into it gingerly. Well this wasn't bad, nice and warm. She was rather cold yesterday. Though when she stopped focusing on it she didn't feel so cold. Her uncle was right about detaching yourself from problems. They don't seem to affect you as much when you look at them as if they were plainly written on paper. Aideen realized that it was a very good idea. Had she done it sooner it might have kept her from feeling those unpleasant feelings. She didn't like the extreme sorrow she had feeling the past couple of days. It hurt a lot. She never wanted to feel like that again. The best way to do that is just like her Uncle said: stop caring. He had been trying to teach her that, but Aideen couldn't help it. Then he would accuse her of being just like her father. Aideen relaxed in the bath and thought about her father. Well she never knew him or her mother, or at least had no recollection of them. On rare occasions her Uncle would speak of them, but not say much. All she knew was that she looked a lot like her mother, but had her father's personality and behavior. He must have been insubordinate often too.
She picked the bubbles up and stared at them, as she sat there thinking about how bad she wanted those olives yesterday. She needed to eat after this bath and make sure she has all her nutrients and meals. Her uncle would never allow it otherwise and taught her to never miss a meal before. He would be very displeased indeed if he knew she hadn't eaten for over twenty four hours before that sandwich yesterday.
Aideen picked up her towel and dried her hands from the water and bubbles before she reached over and put on her radio. Music wouldn't be too bad. She already had it tuned into a metal and rock station so she wouldn't have to deal with that crappy pop music. Aideen leaned back and her mind went blank as she stared at the flickering candles that were all over her bathroom. What a pretty flame, nice colors. There was some blue in there.
It must have been a good hour and a half before a song made Aideen snap back into the real world and looked away from the candle. She hadn't hear this song in years, since back in her racing days. Hmm... that made Aideen think of what Stones was up to. She thought of their days as she washed her hair and body. They had good deals worked out. He taught her how to take care of herself in the underground life. Taught her to ride and handle a handgun too. Plus they had their own side deal that benefited both of them. Informal relations suited them both just fine. He wasn't happy when she broke off the deal after James was killed. Maybe she should go back to that when she turns eighteen. At this point, she didn't really care. It was a good deal and if she continued her mindset than it wouldn't be hard to go back. Plus Stones always had a soft spot for her, and she knew from previous times that he would go back to the deal in a second. That wouldn't be a bad life, maybe she'll go to San Fransisco where the racing was supposed to be really insane. Plus it was much warmer.
When Aideen was all clean and refreshed, she stood up from the tub and grabbed her towel to wrap around her lithe athletic body and stepped out onto the shaggy bathroom room. The bathroom was full of steam from her very hot bath. She had only used the hot water tab and didn't tough the cold water one. That would be unpleasant. She wiped herself dry and smothered her body with the same black raspberry vanilla lotion. A lady should have soft skin. When Aideen turned to brush her teeth in the sink so she could wait for the lotion to sink in, she noticed her face had the same mannequin like expression on her face.
When she was finished with her hygiene process, Aideen stepped out of the bathroom into the seemingly cooler room and quickly threw on a pair of dark blue jeans and a tight stretchy long sleeved black shirt. Oh and her fuzzy socks. She did like fuzzy warm socks. They kept her feet nice and toasty. As Aideen began brushing her hair, she thought of what she should do for the day since it was supposed to be a day to rest and not do her duties. She could go work out later in the evening. And do her schoolwork during the day. That should do it.
Aideen finished with her hair and went to grab some philosophy books from her small bookshelf before she sat on her bed and began to read Plato's Republic. She read for awhile but concentrating was proving to be difficult. Her eyes drifted to some pictures on the wall that she hung up when she first got there. Aideen glanced at the picture closest to her bed.
That was the picture of her and James that someone took one time when they were in the middle of a heated argument, meaning James screwed up in a plan and she was giving him a hard time about it. It was funny how short he looked, though in reality she was standing a couple of steps above him. He was much taller than her. It was one of the few pictures she had kept and it used to make her sad to look at it. Funny, the only thing she thought now was how the picture made her breasts look huge. Stones never let her live it down. In fact, she left that top at his place, and he probably still has it. Oh well, she was only able to wear it in the summer anyways cause otherwise she would freeze.
The next picture nearby was the one of her and Stones that James took when they got into a slight conflict and both of them ended up turning a gun on each other. But it was all good they joked about it later.
He was hot. Had a really good body too. She really should give him a call when she turns eighteen. Their deals were fun for the most part. And the best part was that no emotions were involved. That was a deal with no risks of emotional involvement, that Aideen rather liked, though probably more now than she did back then before she knew better.
Aideen set her book down and looked at the picture of her parents. It was the only one she had, and it was because her uncle had forgotten to throw it out or didn't find it. She had it framed and kept it in a hollow book until she got here.
She really did look a lot like her mother, though she had her father's hair color. And apparently his nature as well. Wonder what it would have been like to grow up with parents? Ah why wonder about things that are unchangeable? She can never change the fact that her parents are dead. Same as James. Same as Logan. Hopefully her parents death wasn't because of her too. It would look really bad for her to be responsible for four deaths instead of two.
In robotic like movement, Aideen stood up and gathered several philosophy books, as well as four granola bars and a bottle of water that she kept in her room. This room was too distracting for schoolwork. She will complete it in the library with no distractions. She was a good student, and failure in school was unacceptable to her uncle. Aideen will not fail him again.
