Cyclops watched as Ember picked her way down the path that led back to the mansion and the damaged gate of the courtyard where they would make a sharp left and head out to the Main Road to town. She was skilled, it would appear, as her feet never left their proper place on the foot-pegs of her bike. He hardly saw her brake lights light up which meant she must have some understanding of modulating her clutch. 'She's not a bad little motorcycle rider' he thought to himself.

Aideen rode carefully down the path full of melted snow and patches of ice. It felt good to ride again even if it was in crappy weather. The wind was cold in her face and it was much easier to ride with the motorcycle with the newer engine build in the sense that it did not require as much manual work as the older models did. But then again Aideen was also aware it took much more skill to work those and planned on learning one day how to ride those beautiful vintage bikes like the one Stones and Daog had. Those were beauties.
Aideen's body was flat on the bike and she leaned to the right pushing the right hand grip away from her as she stayed on the road. It was then that Aideen realized she had no clue where she was going. She did say rice milk and she doubted they were at every grocery store. Hopefully there was some kind of health food store and she was almost sure there was since Cyclops would definitely have told her if it was a lost cause. For now she would just enjoy the ride and keep her eyes on her mirrors ready for any signal from Cyclops.

The two riders cruised down the lonely stretch of road for quite a ways before any oncoming cars showed them that life did indeed exist outside of the school. Not that there were many people out today as it was not the time of year for 'leafers', a term he had heard before to describe people that like to take long drives in the family car and look at the changing foliage.
Nor was it a warm summer day ripe for the kind of top down cruising that a convertible roadster would welcome. It was a cold and overcast day, it reminded him of his childhood in Alaska. Summer time for Cyclops in Alaska seemed like this type of day early on in the season, but certainly a bit warmer and no snow. It was something in the hue of the sky or the angle of the sun that took his mind back there.

Gods had Aideen missed this; riding with the wind in her face and the sun beating down on her shoulders. Granted, it was freezing outside and the wind was ridiculously cold, but it didn't lessen the wonderful feeling that coursed through her body. Aideen glanced at the side of the lonely dirt road where the edge of the woods surrounded her. It seemed like she could never get away from the memory of her guilt. Not even riding the wind was able to erase the heavy hurt and pain that Aideen carried in her.
Keeping her eyes on the dirt road, she concentrated on the road ahead of her, trying to block out all memories as they road down the long lonely road to town. For now, this could be her escape, but it didn't work as well as she had hoped.

Wheeling up alongside the young rider with his Harley Davidson, Cyclops flipped his visor up slightly so he could try and yell over to her. "HEY!!! HoW're YoU DOINg'?" he hollered over to her.
She seemed to be riding fine but he wanted to make sure she wasn't becoming hypnotized by the road. It happens when you're new or tired or have a lot of other things on your mind. The sound of the wind and your own engine, mixed with the vibrations tend to lull you into a state of mind that is very 'out of body'. Scott wanted to make sure she kept her head in her helmet.

Aideen jolted out of here trance when she heard Cyclops call out to her. She wasn't sure exactly what he said beyond the vibrations of her engine and the wind whistling in her ears. It did sound like he was asking basically if she was doing alright. Though she might be wrong since all she heard was 'how' and doing'. He probably was just looking out for her since she was his student and all.
"Fine Sir," she yelled to the Headmaster. They had ridden for a bit over five miles according to Aideen's calculations. She wasn't exactly sure how long the ride to town was and where they were going, but she trusted Cyclops to show her around and who knows, when she turns eighteen, they might let her into town on her own. She needed to get a job eventually anyways.
Aideen kept her eyes on the road and continued the relatively smooth ride. She really needed this.

Scott rode alongside Aideen for a little while longer. A mile or two passed and then he looked to her calling out as he pointed his thumb to his own chest and indicated he would take the lead. The words were hard to hear but the hand and arm signals were crystal clear to Aideen.
Cyclops tickled his throttle with a twist of his right hand and his Harley lurched forward slightly. He didn't want to spray any mud or slush back on her and she would need to decide how best she wanted to fall in behind him. He was curious to see how well she rode in the 'wingman' position. They were approaching the town.

Catching the hand signal in the corner of her eye, Aideen slowed down the bike and moved it far to the right of the road as Cyclops lurched ahead of her. Had she had it in her to smile, she would have at the memory of when her and James used to work together on the races back at the track. They took turns playing wingman with each other, blocking the other riders from passing them. James was much better at it than Aideen was, mainly because she handled sharp angles and rounded angles much better than he did, but she needed more concentration. That's why James usually handled the wingman position.
Aideen fell behind Cyclops and found his speed at a good distance on his right. Not too far since she needed to follow him closely into town, but far enough so it was safe. She hope she had enough cash on her, because she didn't know how often she would be allowed in town.

Over the last slight rise in the road before they got to town Cyclops looked into his mirror. Ember was hanging tough and they were almost there, the cold seemed to lessen at the sight of the town of North Salem.
It was very picturesque with the snow covering every roof and the bustling of foot traffic along the sidewalks. There were few cars moving along the streets today, but that could be said of any day in North Salem.

The town looked like something out of a an old movie. With the snow covered rooftops and the cobblestone sidewalks, it looked like something out of the scene of A Christmas Carol. Despite the cars, the town at first glance had a comforting old feel to it. Aideen bet that there was a place in town that still made amazing egg creams and mind blowing apple cider.
She kept her eyes on the road, though relaxed a bit more since she caught the glimpses of salt to melt away the ice on the streets. More and more houses and shops were coming to view.

Slowing down as they entered the town Cyclops flipped his faceshield up. He looked over to her as they pulled up to stop at the first intersection. "They have a place right around the corner here where they sell really healthy organic food. I would bet you'll find what your looking for there. The owners are nice people too, they're friends of the school. If you know what I mean."
Scott nodded and stomped down on his gear lever to put his bike in first gear. Rounding the corner he parked on the side of the road clicking his gear lever up to neutral with his toe and shutting off his bike. "We're here!"

Ah good. A Health food store. What did he mean by friends of the school though? That would probably mean that they would be a bit more lenient with the prices and she wouldn't have to spend ten dollars on a loaf of olive bread. Those things are quite pricey, especially the fresh bread that contained minimum gluten.
They passed a couple of more shops and a spark of interested came through Aideen when they passed a bar and pool hall that had a numerous amount of bikes parked out in front of it. Now that was a place that Aideen would like to visit, but she knew that Cyclops would never allow it. It just reminded her of her old life.
When they came in front of two old looking shops, one was an old looking bookshop and low and behold there was the health food store. Shifting her bike into first gear and moving the gear level back to neutral with Cyclops, she stopped beside him in front of the store, turning off her bike. It really did look like she stepped into another time period. Aideen moved her hand to the place where her wad of cash was, just to reassure her that it was there.

"Let's see what they've got." Scott said as he shut his eyes and took off his glasses tucking them in the upper part of his zipper. He had to be very careful to not open his eyes as he took off his helmet, because of the control issues he had with his eye-blasts.
Removing his helmet and replacing his glasses he stepped down on his kickstand and made sure the bike was stable before dismounting. "Your gonna like this place I think." he said as he stowed his helmet by the strap, hanging it off of the left side handlebar and taking his lucky rabbits foot key chain with him.
