How long had shimmer seen herself change everyday in appearence. She had known her looks had changed when she was little, but she just thought she grew quicker than other children her age. But her hair, her eyes, her figure. All of it seemed to be constantly changing. And never once had she ever thought to do anything about it. Did she know how to do anything about it? Somehow, she wasn't feeling herself of late. And wanted something changed, her look. It wasn't one, it was many, and frankly, she had spent enough time moping in front of her mirror, complaining pointlessly about nothing and doing that exact thing about it. Nothing. "Not any more." she mumbled to herself as she half stormed her way out of the school, toward the maze.
'What am i doing here? I can't controle my power yet! i can barely change shape never mind get a complete make-over. But . . . i can't stand how messed up i look anymore. I don't have one look, ive got sever all merged together in some stupid way. This will take some time.' she said quietly in her own mind. With a little aprehension she walkd in throgh the entrance of the giant puzzle. This would be it. When she came out of this Maze she would be a new person, or, a new face hopefully at least. Otherwise, her situation of not being happy with her own self would just continue her pitiful attempt to regain happiness in her life. And what use would that be? At least with this she also had the upside of giving her a reason for being out, despite having to stay away from her boyfriend.
'My boyfriend . . . I never thought about it like that before, i had accepted it but hadn't thought. How had i missed that.' She wondered lightly as her footsteps crunched on the still frost covered ground. It wasn't quite snow here, but frost, pure frost that was crisp, white, and extremely cold. "This is silly! I'm not going to be able to do anything. I already know how bad i am at shape shifting!" she growned out loud as she slowly raised a hand to her head and lightly brushed her hand through her hair. One side white, one side pink, the rest a vibrant red. "How retarded." she goraned quietly. Looking down to the ground in slight regret. How pitiful an excuse was she for a shape shifter, she could become invisible, but that seemed to be it. Yes she had occasionally had a colour change, but nothing had been done within her controle to change herself.
Now it was time to change.
After hitting dead end after dead end, Torri finally reached the center of the maze. Seeing the clearing of hedge she gave a slight smile behind her hair which flopped over her face. It was so quiet here, so peaceful. In the background she could still hear the construction work going on at the school, but it was farther away now, alot quieter she thought. The wind was beginning to pick up slightly, and as if on instinct, Torri wrapped her long thin arms around herself tightly, trying to keep out the cold from her body. The clothed she had chosen were not the best attire for being outside in this weather, but she loved her hoodie and baggy combat trousers as much as she did her skin tight jeans and tee's.
Walking over to one of the other sides of the maze, she rest her back against the hedge, slipping down it slowly and quietly down until she was sitting down against the frozen ground. Numbing her body against the freezing temperatures of the outside air. Thankfully, now at least, she would not be disturbed by the weather itself, and would be able to focus on her untimate goal for the time. She needed a new look. And she was determined enough to make herself get one. If it meant hiding out here until she got what she wanted then so be it.
But what look did she want? She guessed before that she would have came up with an idea by now, but nothing had came to her as of yet. So she needed to think.
'My hair? I hate that enough, i want that changed. But to what!? It needs to be one colour at least, but should it reflect what i feel? Surely that would make things easier. But what do i feel like?' She wondered silently, looking blankly at the ground in front of her. What did she feel like, what filled her mind fully now. 'Well that's easy, Riker makes me smile and he fills my mind . . . So that's love? What colour is love? Everyone thinks red, but . . . red is too angry. White? No, too pure. Pink? . . . Yea, pink . . . thats the colour of love.' She thought, sighing slightly and closing her eyes. Focusing soley on her hair, nothing else was there in her mind, just her hair. Her awful red white and pink hair. Slowly, she took a deep breath, held it for a few seconds and released. Again, breath in, hold, release.
Not daring to open her eyes yet, Torri moved a hand slowly up to her hair, It felt different, was it longer? And just . . . different. Moving her hand around her head slowly to feel for any mistakes or anything gne wrong, she came across the strangest thought. I wonder what it would feel like to have ears like iker, they're so . . . amazing. So fasinating, yet cute and sweet. Yes, i wonder.' Then she felt it. It wasn't fur, but it wasn't right. Skin? 'Oh no . . .' she thought slowly, she had made amistake again. Feeling over it again, she open her eyes in shock, they felt like cat ears, but . . . she had ears. Didn't she? Moving her other hand to the side of her head she let out a short high pitched scream. Her ears were gone, but she could still hear. Were those things on her head actually ears?!
The thought scared her a little, She had only wondered about what it would be like, she didn't actually want them. "Oh no!" she yelled angrily, "I did it again!" she cried out. Curling herself into a small ball and looking down at the ground. Her eyes felt strange too, they seemed to see alot more now. But she wondered if it was just the crying which had started from just a small feeling in her throat, then her eyes began watering, and a sob was voiced from her. This was not good, not good at all. Suddenly, a thought hit her. She reached down into the pocket of her baggy combats and took out a small compact mirror, she usually only used it for re-applying her eyeliner, but this was an emergency. As she opened it and looked at her reflection, she let out another scream. Her eyes, they were . . . They were pink!
"God Tor . . . what have you done to yourself now . . ." she whispered to herself, staring blankly at the mirror. Her voice was the only thing that hadn't changed. The only thing that made her realise it was herself that was looking back from the mirror. But, she couldn't believe it. She had done it . . Badly, but. She had shape shifted properly. Slowly, a small smile came to her lips and she felt a small laugh rise from her stomach and explode from her mouth. Followed by slight shrieking screams of joy. Finaly, she had done it!
Almost an hour had passed since Torri had entered the maze, and her thoughts of joy and elation were only interupted by the low grumbling noise, starting from the pit of her stomach. It grew and grew until it was audable enough to be heard outwith her mind. She laughed quietly and reached her hands down to her stomach, The change of tint in her skin now also easily seen. Bringing an even wider smile to her already grinning face and causing a small tinkling giggle to be sounded. She was in too bright a mood now for anything to get her down, nothing at all she thought.
Another gurgling noise of hunger from the pit of her stomach sounded, making her giggle again as she rose to her feet. Brushing down her now, shorter body it seemed. Torri found how different she looked now, something that was hard to grasp. Letting out a small sigh, she started walking toward the exit of the maze, thinking hard about how she would get out. Because she knew fine well, that, having not eaten since the prvious day . . . she was very hungry.
