Elixir's tears were indeed hissing, but not off of their intended target. The difficulty in shooting tears at a particular target, is that tears don't shoot. Try as she might the very best that the girl could do was fling tears around with reckless aim and not an ounce of accuracy. But what was hissing?
What indeed....
As the girl fell to the stage, so too did her tears fall, on the chains that bound her. Being oblivious as she was to the world around she didn't notice that her powerful tears, with the ability to bring someone back from the dead and turn earth into living matter, were eating their way through the eldrich matter.
Like some form of acid they burned and dissolved their way through the chains, weakening them in the tiny spots where they fell. Wisps of purple smoke lifting up in tight swirls around the young mutant's head as she taunted the newest demon of the realm.

Haven was rapidly loosing patience with the little weirdo she knew as Elixir. There was little hope that the girl would shut her mouth, and her stupid taunts were annoying like a sand flea biting the inside of her ear. "Will you never learn to quit while you still have a head?" Niki snickered as she said it, her pun on the saying '-quit while you're ahead-' was terribly funny to her as she decided she had heard enough out of the little retard. She suddenly thought it would be quite fun to bash the girl in her head and neck hard enough to crush her spine and decapitate the girl with repeated blows of her forcefield against the chain collar that held her fast.

Ian looked at the scene with Elixir and Haven in horror. He didn't know what to do. Even though Haven was a demon now, he couldn't bring himself to hurt her, even if it was to help Elixir. Aw man this is too heavy, I don't know what to do. It should have been me and not Haven, I should have done something more to keep her with me. I gotta think of something though I can't hurt her, he thought and turned to Shadowkat.
"Kitty teach, is there any other way but the soul sword? Anything I can do? We gotta get the rest of them outta there," Ian looked at his teacher desperately, feeling that he just HAD to do something to save who he could. "Teach, Please! I need to get Wolverine and Nightcrawler out, at least for Spitfire. She ain't ever gonna forgive me for Haven, but she needs Wolverine back! Please Kitty Teach, we need to get them and go home," he said quietly itching to go and try and break Wolverine and Nightcrawler out.

Sara's forced smile began to droop when Haven did not take the bait. Sure, the now demon girl got angry and threatened her, but she didn't move close enough for Sara to get a good chance to try to douse her in tears. Moreover, Sara's earlier attempts appeared useless as there was no change in Haven that suggested what little, if any, tears had landed on her had changed her demonic state or weakened her at all. But there had been something. Sara had definitely heard a hissing sound and she seemed to smell some kind of smoke. Maybe she just needed to get Haven wetter. She was going to have to try again.
But how, you little fool, she screamed at herself in her mind. How are you going to get more water on her. You can't just walk over and cry on her, you're all chained up. Besides, she'll kill you if you lunge at her. Besides, if she has her shield up all the water in the world might not do you any good even if it would otherwise work. Sara, sighed audibly, then continued thinking to herself. We've been down this road before, revisiting it won't help. You need something original.
About the best Sara could think of was that if she could not play offense she had better play a good defense. As she did not know any defensive techniques and was of pitiful strength compared to a demon there was not much defensively she could do. Relying on the same premise that her tears might be of some use down here, she bowed her head down and lifted her hands up to her face, finally getting her fingers right under her eyes. She then cried over her hands to get them good and wet. If Haven or anybody else tried to get close to her she would touch them with her wet hands and hopefully it would help.
While she was crying on her hands and wiping them with tears more water ran down her wrists to her chains and the purple smoke picked up again, this time so close to her nose that Sara could smell its acrid sting and so close to her eyes that they started to burn. Even she could not be so oblivious as to not notice that the chains were weakening, being corroded by the tears.
That's it, Sara thought excitedly. I'll weaken my chains then make a desperate bolt for one of the hostages. Hmm...Who's nearest, she thought as she surveyed the landscape spotting Wolverine not that far from her on the stage. I'll make a bolt for him. If I grab each of the chains around his wrists first he'll have free hands to fight off any attackers, then I can get his neck, so he isn't choked, and finally his feet.
With this plan in mind, Sara, quietly cried some more into her hands then silently and surreptitiously massaged her neck, getting those chains good and wet, and finally her feet and ankles. Then she made her move. Bolting towards Wolverine she could hear her chains snapping behind her. But weakened and bleeding she was not moving anywhere near as fast as she would have liked to do and with pain screaming in her ears was unsure if she would make it to him even absent any pursuit by Haven or the demon host.

The sinking feeling Shadowkat was feeling throughout this whole ordeal only grew to her dismay as she could clearly see how bothered and desperate Ian was especially now that everything seemed to be going more downhill than before. “I don’t know - I’m trying to think. I’ve told you, brute strength won’t work no matter how hard you try, and I know you want to do something,” she said, taking a step as she pressed a finger to her temple and shut her eyes as she tried to think of what else could work. “I know, Diesel, I know, we’re going to get them out and we’re all going to go home, I just don’t know how yet,” she said quietly and as calmly as she could, trying to remain a pillar of stability for the two remaining students she had left.
She opened her eyes to check on Elixir, and noticed something odd. There were tiny plumes of purplish smoke coming from where she had seen her magical bindings, only they weren’t there anymore, and the girl was crying her eyes out…on purpose. Oh! Her tears are burning through the chains like acid! This could work! she thought as she saw Elixir run off towards Wolverine. She’s too hurt to get there fast enough before someone stops her… Turning to Diesel, she began, “Elixir’s tears! They’re like—“ she started, though she cut herself off as she heard Emma’s voice in her head. “They’re like acid on the chains! Go help her, I’m right here, try to help her get them out,” she said, moving towards the captives while urging him forward before her.
’Emma! I’m with Diesel, Elixir, and Haven – we’re at this castlelike place but it's like a little city at the same time. We found Wolverine and Nightcrawler…and Belasco. The situation isn’t good, Haven…she’s turned into a demon, Elixir got captured, but she broke free with her tears! We’re going to try to get Kurt and Logan free, but we’re way outnumbered here – there’s a whole crowd of demons everywhere. Hurry!’ Shadowkat returned the contact with Emma and relayed in the shortest version she could, since it distracted her somewhat while she focused on explaining. She kept her mind open for anything else that she might hear from Emma, but because she heard from her there was a twinge of hope, since she knew now that both Cyclops and Emma were there. And she had a feeling there were more with them. “There might be hope for us yet,” she whispered, to herself, and to the Acolyte, who was still within earshot.

Hearing soft footfalls closing in on him Logan looked up with far more effort than anyone would have ever guessed it would take. 'Eh- the little crying girl, how'd she get loose?' he wondered as she reached out to grab the chains around his wrists. "Lookout behindja kid!" Wolverine grumbled, his voice hardly more than a rasp, as from his vantage point he could see Haven had begun chasing after the frail bleeding child.
He could see the edges of the raised dais and knew the clamoring paws and claws of the demon climbing on top of it would soon overrun her too. That girl needed him. All at once with a supreme strength of will and a painful shredding inside his limbs from fighting the magical force that held him motionless Logan raised his arms to meet the glistening wet hands of the blood drenched young girl. 'Just a few steps more kid and I'm free.' Wolverine thought as he saw the demon known as Haven swatting at her from behind with a force and intent he was certain would send her to fall in a heap at his feet.

'' Nein Niki! STOP!!! Don't do et child! '' Kurt called out the strain on his face was hard enough to look at but the pain he felt from struggling against the chains was astronomical. Having been bound longer than the children the magic had taken hold and was causing him to wish for death. By design the chains sapped the will, broke the spirit and made it all the more easy to convert a human into a demon. The amazing Nightcrawler had little strength left after fighting for his life for what felt like days on end, yet his will was iron still as he leaned on his faith, his faith in himself and his faith in a god that would not have any input here in this dimension.
He hoped she would hear his words, hoped there was something left of the poor orphaned child locked away inside the demon now before them.

Hearing her human name called to her made her hesitate for a moment, thoughts swirled in her head for the past that had brought her to this point. She had been chasing Elixir, running her down and enjoying watching the girl stagger as she went. It was a shock when she slipped her shackles, but not to worry as Lord Belasco would have her back in lockdown as soon as she --- but then her name! 'My name? That name...what , why does it hurt me? It torments me inside- why!?!'
Head on a swivel she cranked it around to see the bestial demonic form with the light of an angel flowing out of it, out of him. "I know you devil, you are..." she spoke to him, but the thoughts dispersed in a swirl as her focus returned and Haven turned back to Elixir, who had just about reached the gruff and growling hairy man that she vaguely remembered as well. 'Hated by the one who raped me, hated by Saber-...' her mind was failing her.

"Haven NO!" Ian yelled as he ran at top speed to her to give Elixir a chance. "Elixir move quickly get them out!" he yelled before he grabbed Haven as gently as he could by the shoulders to stop her and force her dazed expression on him. Ian looked at her with emotion filled eyes, feeling guilty and sad by what the girl has become. "Haven... aw man babe I'm sorry. I shoulda tried harder to keep you from becoming.... well this. Kitty said that you're lost to us, and I'm sorry. I don't know if you can, but I hope you can forgive me for not being there for you when I should have. You were there for Spitfire, and that means the world to her and to me. Thank you," Ian said softly and leaned down to press a soft kiss on her cheek. "I'm sorry babe, you deserved better," he said softly before he let go of her and ran to help Elixir.
Ian ran after Elixir, who by now should have reached them. "Elixir get Wolverine and MOVE. Then go right to Nightcrawler, I'll help him out," he said and watched as Wolverine struggled free. "Wolverine man, don't get yourself hurt. You too Nightcrawler Teach. We gotta get home, Spitfire has just gotta see you and be normal again," Ian said desperately. I failed Haven, I can't fail Spitfire. She needs to see that they're okay, she needs her friend back, he thought as he blocked off Elixir, ready to pummel any demon that got close to her or take the shot himself. He'd do anything to get them free and outta here, even if he had to take a shot from Belasco or Haven.

Trying to zig zag in order to avoid Haven, Sara half ran and half staggered towards Wolverine but she was hardly moving fast enough and the demon girl kept gaining on her. Mere seconds before Sara fell to the ground exhausted and dizzy Diesel stormed past her to slow Haven down, yelling as he went. As Diesel screamed at Sara to go to Wolverine she summoned her remaining strength and literally crawled over to the captive teacher. After putting her hands to her eyes and giving them a good soaking she reached up to the teacher's neck, grasping the magic chain collar firmly and pulled it off like it was made of paper. She then proceeded to free his hands, telling him "I'll have you out soon, I think; just use your hands to fend them off." Behind her she could hear the growl of angry demons who were storming the stage. Finally, she reached his ankles and freed them as well, grasping the chains with her hands after giving them another good soaking. The whole time, however, she was losing blood at an alarming rate. As she tried to drag herself over to Nightcrawler the blood loss became too great and the dizziness in her head turned to blackness as she lost consciousness, passing out on the floor halfway to the still chained teacher.

Shadowkat moved swiftly as she saw that Elixir was kept away from Haven and did enough to finally free Wolverine from his magical chains. “Good Elixir!” she said, running to back her up as Diesel stood to ward off whatever demon who would try to come after them to stop them from further freeing their comrades. When she saw that Elixir finally went unconscious from the blood loss, the phaser cursed under her breath and moved to the girl. They had to get Nightcrawler free!
Getting to her charge, she phased so that her unconscious and bloody body would be easier moved to get to the other teacher. She levitated them both away while she saw a couple of demons try to get past Diesel’s defenses. Hoping he would stop them, she continued quickly to Nightcralwer, and solidified as she held up Elixir and rubbed one tear soaked hand on the chain on his neck sparingly. There was enough to dissolve the chain so when she tugged at it with her hand it ripped apart. She rubbed the same drenched hand on one of the chains on his wrists and worked at that one, and then used Elixir’s other hand to get Nightcrawler’s other wrist.
“Almost got you, Kurt, just hold on,” she said as she wiped her charge’s tear stained face to get at the chains on his ankles, getting them wet enough for her tears to work. “Come on, come on,” she urged the chains, wanting them to break for her. She laid Elixir down gently, and finished tearing at the magical chains. Nightcrawler was now free, too, and then she remembered why Elixir had fainted. She was bleeding so much, but Shadowkat had no idea how to stop the bleeding, and it increased the worry despite both her fellow teachers were now free.

Belasco was levitating high above the scene as it played out below. Chuckling as if amused he watched the anguish and delighted in it. The sounds of breaking hearts and crumbling hopes were like a symphony to his ears and the magical chains falling off of his captives were as the sounds of wind chimes and of cymbals. Descending he called out "Now my Minions- ENJOY YOUR SPORT!" as he raised his arms and let loose the beasts of LIMBO. The entire assemblage of the crowd of demons rushed the stage. The smell of Elixir's blood caused a wild glare to illuminate the eyes of the surging horde as they began to climb atop and claw upon one another in a mad race to mount the stage and feast on the manflesh they so eagerly sought. "YES! Yes, enjoy this moment! Have fun in this precious second and delight in the thrill but be MINDFUL of the reason for our day, our celebration. Know then that your mistress will be here in the beat of a heart!" He threw his head backward as a menacing laugh escaped his throat and filled the whole of the courtyard keep. The sky above crackled with purple and green lightning and an approaching sound of thunder which bled away to the sound of hooves in the sky.

Niki grinned at the words of her new master, permission to have a bit of fun in the time given her before this mistress- whoever she was- would arrive. 'But he kissed me?...how did he get past my forcefield?...he kissed me' she thought as the situation that had just happened played over again in her mind's eye causing her a moments more hesitation.
In the instant of hearing her own name spoken by Nightcrawler, her resolve and hatred had faltered. 'That was the moment. It must have been' she thought. She could see it almost as if it was an instant replay in slow motion and black and white. Suddenly though, her mind shifted gears and as she looked at what was happening before her, her eyes lit with an inner fire.
The crowd of demons were climbing onto the stage and rushing the group of mutants. It was Wolverine and Nightcrawler and Shadowkat standing along with Diesel against five thousand or more slobbering screaming howling clawing demons, and Haven right there too. Confusion clouded her mind as she looked down on the body of Elixir, lifeless and unmoving a dark puddle issuing out of her. Glancing back up to the sky she saw Belasco, arms raised and laughing.
Then a sound -SNIKT- and she turned back to see Wolverine popping out his claws and readying himself for the rush to attack just as several small and fast demons sprang right past her to launch themselves at Diesel. Hitting him high and low. One on his leg one on each arm and one flung itself around his neck. Two more were in mid air aiming for his torso as she saw the fangs and the mouths on the beasts opening wide. They were able to detach their jaws like snakes and they looked like they would consume him in a bite or two each. The force of the final two would certainly knock him off the stage into the mass of gathered Hell-spawn.

The force of the demons was enough to knock Ian back hard, making him topple over the edge of the stage, but he was never one to go down without a fight. "Arrrrgh!" he cried as he felt the blinding pain of their teeth sink into his legs and arm and one on his shoulder.
It'll take more than this to take me down. Wolverine's free, and so is Nightcrawler. That part is done. Now I got some ass kicking to do that will save my own ass, Ian thought before he founght back with all his might. "Get off me you giant sewer rats," he grunted as he fell on top of several demons. Ian ripped the one that was latched on his shoulder off and ripped him in half as he started throwing and tossing the demons that jumped on him off, along with the additional ones. Demons flew through the air as one came to replace the one that he threw. The demons piled up on him, biting at him as he fought hard to get them all off and away from his heart and face.
"No you don't you smelly shits," he growled and flung as many off him as he could, but with the large amount of demons it just seemed futile. Ian didn't stop though, he flung as many as he could, only grateful that at least Wolverine and Nightcrawler got free.

Shadowkat's eyes followed Belasco as he rose up into the sky and they widened as she saw the huge swarm of demons flood towards the stage and begin ambushing the small group. There was nothing she could do for Elixir, she realized as Wolverine got ready to fight. She flexed her hand and found it empty as the sword she had going in was gone, but it was no matter as she punched an oncoming demon came at her. She dodged as it swung out and kicked it back, knocking the sword it had out of its hand. Picking it up quickly she saw that a group of demons went after Diesel, knocking him back off the stage and into a crowd below.
Without a word she moved quickly, phasing as she jumped off the stage to where he fell and grabbed an unharmed part of his arm so the demons that were biting and clawing at him bit and clawed at thin air. She exhaled sharply as she levitated them up and over the crowd that wanted to tear them apart. They went high enough over them, but far enough away from Belasco as Shadowkat brought them to an emptier part of the stage near Wolverine and Nightcrawler, landing so that she was in front of him so he could start to heal. She herself couldn't regenerate, but she couldn't let him get hurt. I failed Haven - she's a demon, and Elixir isn't any better off. She's bleeding to death! I can't let Diesel fall. I can't. I am their protector abd leader here, I can't fail them; they're under my watch and I won't lead them to any more losses, she thought as she braced herself, gripping her new sword.
Demons came at what was left of the small group, and she swung out, slashing and kicking at the little monsters that tried to bite at her and get past her defenses. A couple did much to her chagrin, yet she still worked to trip them up and kill them as best she could. As she hacked at what demons fell into her line of attack blood spattered everywhere and she phased when she really needed to, when other demons came out swinging their weapons at her and the rest of them.
