Since the early morning sun had first peaked light over the horizon, Mato had been sitting in the memorial guarding, waiting to greet the Wise One Above as he shone his light on the Earth. He sat cross legged with his back straight and head held high facing the bright sun on the chilly morning. He had immersed himself in the Morning Prayer, thanking the Wise One Above for another day and for the completion of the previous day. It was a morning ritual for Mato that he did every morning without fail. His heritage was still a large part of his daily life and he practiced it diligently to not forget where he came from.
In the past two months, Mato had adapted to the school quite nicely. He found his place within his team, finding his team a very honest and trustworthy bunch. He was a loner by nature, since life as a Shaman in his village enabled him to spend many hours and moons on his own to connect with the Earth and the Spirits. Nonetheless, he still found himself once in awhile keeping company with others in the school. Often he found himself in the presence of his team outside of practice, whether it was studying with Ember or talking to Ironclad, whom he shared a bathroom with. Once in awhile, he found himself in the presence of Haven or another student and enjoying their company.
Mato's true place of solace was outside, whether it be in the lake, the Memorial Garden or the Woods. Here is where he learned more about his gift, and delved into the world of the Ancient Magic from his Tribe. Shaman Achak had taught him the Ancient Magic needed to heal a person's soul, but Mato was well aware that there was much more to learn than just that. Forge was kind enough to send him the texts of all the basics, which was a hefty amount. He learned them slowly and throughly, still having much more to learn before he could confidently say he mastered the Basics of the Ancient Magic and it will be a journey that Mato will go on with the correct amount of patience that was needed for such an experience.
At the present moment, Mato had just finished the deep prayer opened his eyes for the first time. A lovely morning, a day such as this is sure to bring moments of warmth to everyone, if only a small highlight similar to the way the light peaks through the trees in the forest, he thought with a smile. He place his fingers against his forehead with a small smile on his face. "Come my friends, join me on this morning," he said softly to himself. For one moment, Mato glowed as bright as the sun as his large grizzly bear and a gray wolf formed in front of him. Another thing Mato discovered that he was able to do is bring more than one part of his spirit animals out at once. He only managed to do so only when his core spirit animal, The Great Grizzly Bear, was brought forth.
The gold glow disappeared from Mato and the animals as he opened his eyes to see the familiar large form of the bear within him and the sleek watchful form of the Gray Timber Wolf that also was apart of him. He smiled and stood up, patting the wolf's soft fur. "Come my friends. Let us pay our tribute to those who have passed and spirit lives in these grounds," Mato said in a serene voice. He put his hand on the Bear's back as the three of them walked to each statue to pay the Spirits that have passed the respect they deserved.
