Ariel had taken out her laptop for her assignment and waited for it to start up so she could open up her Photoshop program. What she had in mind was something actually pretty simple, a simple circular design that used the primary colors and the certain effect that gave not only red, blue, and green, but cyan, magenta and yellow as well. It looked like a design she would see at a club set in the 60s, or just something in general, so when she finished it with a tile effect to make it more than just the little square she made, she found she liked it a good deal. She was putting the finishing touches on it when she saw Jocelyn come near with a pout as she got a new roll of film. Ariel caught the look and smirked at her, returning the once over and a wink before looking back to her computer screen and putting it all together as Colossus said he wanted to see what everyone had. After the few people in front of her went, she called Colossus over with a smile and turned her computer screen towards him so he could see what she had done. "I'll be sure to email it to you before class ends so you can have it on file. Like it?" she asked him with another smile and glanced at the clock. She was happy the class was nearing its end, even though this class was always fun to take part in and watch because everyone had their own style of making their own art.

The new assignment didn't strike any particular interest chords inside Tia, but nonetheless she was eager to get on with her work. Hippies - colourful and cheery. A bit tooo cheery in Tia's opinion, but eh - if they liked it that way then so be it. She licked her lips as she came out of her thought process and looked at Nightshade. "I uh..." Tia wouldn't mind working with Nightshade, the girl was okay company and she was quite nice, but... well, Tia just didn't like working with people she didn't know to well. Tia wasn't one to hold back when it came to any form of art, and well - she didn't really want to force her opinion on Nightshade. "I'd rather do it alone - uh, it's nothing against you... I just... prefer to work alone." Tia gave Nightshade a bit of an apologetic look, before she looked away, thinking of what she could do. They were allowed to do whatever they liked - so that meant Tia could either write a poem or draw something. Tia debated on which would allow her to prove her point more, and she concluded on the drawing - perhaps a painting. Tia skipped out of her seat, grabbing the equipment she needed before hurrying back to start. Tia never forced conversation or spoke when she wasn't needed to, but at the moment she felt like she needed to make up for turning Nightshade's offer down. "So, what're you workign on?" she muttered vaguely and started her drawing. Colour pencils were what she'd decided on using seeing that no one else really wantede to use them. She continued to work in silence, occasionally speaking to Nightshade and exchanging comments about one another's work. As the others showed their work to the class, Tempest applauded the artists, noting the different techniques different people had used. She aprticularly liked the one K'8 had used... the melting of crayons was very clever. She put her colour pencils down, adding some hurried finishing touches, before she spotted Colossus looking at her. She sighed, she'd never been one for contributing, but she'd pretty much gotten used to showing her work in class, 'cause well - Colossus always liked to see everyones work. She picked up the piece of paper with her colour pencil drawing on it and held it up so everyone could see. "I'm more or less done Colossus, i'll hand it in." she muttered as she hurried to put her work back on the desk, looking breifly at the clock and gathering all the colour pencils so she could pack away quickly.

Seeing Ian punch Kevin wasn't a surprise to Heather. However she did find it unnecessary. It wasn't funny at all to her, since drama was not the water manipulator's favorite thing to be a part of. But she could remember how upset Ian was when Jumper Fleet decided to run his mouth about Aideen. The girl risked her life for everyone in the school for Christsakes; saying that she did it for attention or anything like that was just wrong and ignorant. Her drawing of Lian and Sky wasn't even close to done. However the full out rough draft of the sketch was. She had a great pose of Sky spreading her arms and Lian dumping the first set of paint on her. The whole reason for choosing this scene was to show the love in their friendship. Having fun and being goofy was their thing and the two were notorious for it. The weather was warm and inviting, therefore her sketch which was soon to be transformed into an actual colored drawing was sort of connected to the Summer of Love theme, at least in her own weird way. Because her drawing wasn't done, presenting it was not in her nature. Her work always needed to be perfect and finished when she believed it was so. For now, she enjoyed the works of others and saw how creative her classmates were capable of being.

Sky stood up after Hardlight from the giant canvas, wiping blue paint from her face. She looked like she took part in a paint explosion. Her entire body was covered in paint and at this point, no one could be sure what were the color of her bra and underwear were when she started. "If this doesn't say the Summer of Love, than I dunno what does," she said and lifted up the canvas from the ground to show off her creation. A big grin was plastered on Sky's paint splattered face as she showed it off. "It was all about a time to let go and be free! Women burned bras, men grew beards, and it was all about tune in, turn on, and drop out. This is just one of the new and many ways that art was expressed by free thinkers. Totally far out man," she said in the stoner voice she heard Gavin use earlier.

There was a big grin on Jocelyn's face as she sat on the desk with her legs crossed and taking pictures of all the people who showed Colossus their work. She didn't mind, she had some great shots of that girl Sky looking hot as hell covered in paint. Everyone else just looked adorable showing off their artwork and looking so proud of it. Jocelyn got a great shot of that Paragon girl Tempest showing her drawing.
The whole time she was whistling along with the Bob Dylan song that was playing. "You know me Petey, I'll go to the dark room this week and get them done for next class. I'm gonna make a killer collage of photos when I'm done," she announced holding up her camera Colossus to see and grinning widely. "C'mon ya'll I want some more pictures of you all showing your stuff," Joce said with a giggle and got her camera ready for the next person.

While others showed their art, all of which made Gavin look up from his work to look at, he was finishing the first part of his song. It took him a whole class just to do the beginning melody. The whole time he would look back and watch the fun with the giant canvas and the body print painting. He had to laugh, those guys knew how to have fun, and it looked like a blast. "Here ya go Pete, let me play you what I got. I probably won't be done till next class," he said and strummed the notes he had written down. It was a mellow melody playing, similar to that of a Bob Dylan song with a couple of notes different here and there. It was only the first fifteen seconds that were played since it was pretty much a sequence of repetitive notes. Gavin's head bobbed to the music, his voice moving with the melody in clear sounds. When he finished he showed the copy of the music sheet to Colossus. "I'll work on the melody and for words in the next classes, but I think I'm off to a damn good start," he said proudly and even posed with a peace sign for Jocelyn when she was taking pictures.

Nodding his head with a thoughtful smile after Gavin's song, Ian thought for a moment and then grinned widely. "I dig it man totally folk music kinda style," he said liking the song. It reminded him of something his dad used to play. Ian turned to Colossus and grinned big as he brought his arms out to show off his project. "Pete man check it out. It's like a tree but really it's a bunch of people connected together. I still gotta pain it but I got the basic thing done. Isn't it totally radical man?" he said excitedly showing off his work for all to see and then posting for some pictures for Jocelyn.

With respectful reverence, Mato watched everyone present their work so far. He had cleaned his station from all the wood shavings a while ago and had just started painting the flute that had a little red bird carved in by the mouthpiece. When Diesel finished showing off his magnificent tree of people, Mato stood up and held out the flute he maid. "The counterculture in the 1960s took a lot of themes and traditions from other cultures and religion and made it their own. They adopted the Native American flute as their own and many songs were played in the lines of traditional music from other tribes," he explained holding out the simple yet detailed design of the flute. "Though I have yet to finish painting the flute, I can still play it for you." Mato brought the flute to his lips and began to play a haunting melody in the air that one might have heard had the got up before sunrise and had a room near the lake. When he finished the song, Mato bowed to Colossus and sat back down. He felt a sense of pride at playing that song, and was all too happy of his chosen project. Perhaps when he finished he could give it to someone as a gift to honor them.

From inside the closet at the far back of the room Chase's voice boomed. "With much reverence and tradition our forefathers and their squeezes took the best of all societies and left the worst. They practiced meditation, smoked the herbs of the earth, lived in harmony with the planet and worked together until they drank the Kool~Aid! They protested war and practiced free love-" He thought about the consequences for a half a second, but it was too good to pass up after Mr. Tonto blew his flute. There was the issue of punishment, but since Ian got away with poppin Kyle he felt he should push the envelope -and since he had a semi from the little lipstick wearin blond boy he had no problems with being shy -as he threw open the door and ran out and around the room. "- AND THEY STREAKED!!!!"

Piotr's hand shot out when Chase passed him and grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, firm enough so he would be able to escape his grip but gentle enough to not hurt him. "Although many consider the human body to be art Chase, it is not exactly the free expression I was hoping for," he said with a laugh, pushing him right into the pile of paint smocks by his desk. He had to chuckle a bit, frankly not too surprised being that it was Chase and he didn't harm anyone except for some's eyesight.
He threw a paint splattered sheet over the pile that Chase sat in casually and looked at the class. "I am very impressed by all the work that you got done so far! We have three more classes to complete the Summer of Love project. I am very pleased with all your work and I cannot wait to see the finished products! Please be ready for next class to start working right away. With that, I would like to wish you all a good weekend, class dismissed, but no one is to leave without cleaning up their stations please," Piotr said to the class, smiling at the cheers of school being over for the week and their weekend could begin. As he understood, this was supposed to be a record breaking warmth this weekend and he knew the students would take full advantage of it.
All Piotr knew was that he had plans with his own little woman tonight, promising her an evening under the stars for a picnic in their favorite place. He had much to do to prepare for the night, and watched as everyone cleaned up and filed out slowly, those who needed to put on their clothes put it on otherwise they were not allowed to leave the room. Soon the art classroom was empty as everyone branched out to start their weekend.
