After spending his morning shopping in town for some new gardening supplies, Piotr was more than ready and eager to start his art class. He loved any excuse to draw or paint and loved to watch what the children were able to come up with during class assignments. For the past couple of weeks, they had been working on a project called 'Ancient Findings,' where they made painting, sculptures and crafts that look like something one may find in an archeological dig. He was blown away by some of the things that the children were able to make and by others he had to laugh at the silliness of their work.
His class was about inner expression and even though he gave them themes, as long as they tried and put a bit of themselves into the work, he was more than happy with them. The art classroom was large and expansive, with just about every art and craft item one could ever wish for. Professional painting supplies and sculpting tools were abundant, and freshly restocked now that the projects were done so the children could have all they wanted to complete their projects.
Today, Piotr had set up the class so the mood would fit for the new project they were starting. Colorful hippie themed banners and posters were all over the classroom and the sounds of Simon and Garfunkel filled the air. Even for the occasion, he wore a hippie brown vest with numerous beaded tassels hanging from it and John Lennon glasses that he found a couple of days ago when Kitty took him shopping. Piotr opened the door to the class to signal that it was time for class to start and sat down in his desk as his students arrived.

Finaley ART CLASS!! Kevin waited all week long for art class, his favorite class of all. It had a lot to do with seeing how he could improve his powers, he liked to use his imaganation for expresions of his heart, and he had such heart to express. It was more than just that though to for him he loved his Team Leader to bits.
Since joining the team and having a rough time with Collosus on the first few practices, compareing him to his father and making dangerous messes for the rest of his team, Kevin was always happy to spend time in Pete's presance. His help with his art was imvaluble to making his mutant gift that much more awsome. Since Collosus was an artist too they had a lot in commine. He liked goin' OldSkool with his class stuff too, it was fun. Since Collusus liked them all to experience the reality of art for it's own sake he liked to try not to use his powers.
Coming into the classroom and seeing the decarations and Pete's gettup witht the tassled and beeded jacket and his cool specks Kevin giggled. "Hey, the room looks great! Wow don't tell me let me guess-" he placed a finger to his tempel and said "MOD! Right? We gonna do some 60's style stuff?" Kevin almost boudnced into the room and over to his seat.

"Whoa...." was the first thing that Gavin said when he walked into the art class. He loved the 1960s and this room was like a blast from the past. "Pete man this looks awesome. Or should I say totally boss man." Gavin used a stoner hippie voice at the last part, giving his team leader the peace sign. "Please tell me we can do those crazy psychedelic art that the hippies used to do. OH MAN that would be totally choice," he said still in the stoner hippie voice and placed his guitar on the back of his chair.
He loved the hippie counterculture, being one of his favorite time periods of all time. Back at home in Maine, there was a whole hippie commune just a half hour away that still had these awesome old hippies that lived there along with some younger ones. Apparently it used to be huge back in the 60s, but it was pretty small now. Either way, Gavin loved going there to hang out with the people, jammin' with them and seeing the 'high' side of life with them. They totally loved his wings too, and for awhile Gavin had entertained dropping out of school and just going to live with them. The music that played in the air brought back some fine memories.
"So what are we like gonna do today? Can we play some Grateful Dead too?" he asked deciding to completely adopt the hippie voice as he sat in his seat and grinning widely. Gavin was all up for getting dirty and painting stuff. They had some awesome paint wars in this class.

Ian practically ran into the classroom, just as excited and wearing his old football jersey that was already stained with paint that just wouldn't come out. He always wore it to Colossus' art class since knowing life he would have half his wardrobe stained with paint and his mom would yell at him. "Pete DUDE! You ROCK! My parents love this music man, I grew up on it. Hey ya got any Bob Dylan?" he asked while he dropped unceremoniously in his seat, looking around at what looked like posters and decorations that were stolen from his house. His parents were both flower children and still retained their roots to this day with buying everything organic and well giving many of his friends quite an experience when they went to his house on the beach for the first time.
"Hey does this mean we can like do that crazy art stuff like the hippies did? C'mon Pete dude, don't leave us hangin'," Ian said sitting in a chair by Gavin and sort of leaning back as he looked around the unconventional classroom. He wasn't exactly a great artist, but he liked working with his hands. His mom taught him how to sculpt when he was little and he made a bunch of vases for her. He knew how to make and shape glass cause his mom owned a glass blowing store. He was pretty good at sculpting stuff, though he sucked at painting or drawing or anything like that. This class was always awesome cause his team leader gave him free reign to make a bunch of stuff.

Katlyn walked into the arts class with a serene smile on her face. Art was one of her fortes, seeing as she was a tattoo artist after all, and a damn good one. She was able to come up with plenty of designs in her head, all different types and be able to replicate them from paper to skin. Even though she had nothing prepared for the class seeing as she had only been around for a day or so, it was still a class she wanted to attend. She liked any opportunity to show off her artistic skills, especially when it was something she was good at like tattoo designs and pictures of the macabre and slightly creepy. Or, even better, pirates, their insignias and anything associated with them. She could make a mean pirate map.
Her eyes trailed over the theme decorated classroom, her lips pursing cutely as she surveyed the theme of the day's class. It was the 60's it looked like and she grinned as she walked over to where Gavin sat and sat down close next to him. "Hello there, my pretty birdy, be we feeling groovy today?" she asked, swaying slightly in her seat with a giggle. Slang from the sixties wasn't nearly as fun as the lingo she liked to use from pirates, so she figured she'd be using it sparingly. "Might ye like to put a touch'a the sixties in that tattoo ye be wantin'? Or a touch from the Kat?" she asked him with a flirty smirk, her eyes flicking to his chest for a second before looking at his face again.
She found herself licking her bottom lip slightly as she looked at him and waited for an answer, her alarming blue eyes smoldering as she looked at his dark green ones and at his lips. "I'll help ye with both....have no doubt o' that me lovely songbird...all ye need is tell me. Mmm, ye still need to sing for me, after your song English class I be wanting to hear somethin' real ye wrote," she said, recalling the way he sounded when he sang even singing those silly lyrics. If he sang ones he wrote for an actual song for her, she thought she might actually melt and then jump him.

The 60s themed room blew Heather away. She loved the 60s and everything about it. The art and culture was just something she always found fascinating. Not to mention the fashion. Twiggy was her all time favorite model. Modern and contemporary was Heather's style, and at times she could incorporate some of the 40s-60s influence into her designs. It was like bringing "Hippie Back". Plus the music that came from the 60s era was some of her favorite. Her dad was a Baby Boomer and her mom just barely made the cut off point. So of course Heather's dad was more of the influence for Heather's knowledge of the 60s American culture. Speaking of her father, she remembered that she needed to call him after art class.
She walked in with a large smile, very content with how the day played out so far. Of course after she and Gavin decided to go to lunch, Veronika was more than happy for her. The teasing wouldn't stop from everyone else, but Heather was able to be happy nonetheless. Seeing Colossus, Heather smiled and said "Afternoon Sir. Can't wait to start the project." She was actually in a very good mood, and who wouldn't be in her position? Heather sat down next to Gavin, the opposite side of where Kat was sitting, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Don't think that throwing macaroni at my hair is going to get you off the hook yet," she said in a low voice with a smirk. "Remember I have devious ways of revenge." She then set up her art supplies and looked to Kat. "Hey," she said in as nice of a voice as possible. Kat was really odd to Heather, but she wanted to give the Paragon the benefit of the doubt. Plus the fact that she was a fellow artist, made Heather respect the "pirate" a little more.

Yoora walked down the hallway slowly taking in her surroundings with some wonder. It's all so pretty and kinda elegant. she thought. Not at all like my old school. That was all falling apart, but I still miss it. Being able to attend the Institute was a great honor and she was happy that her Great Uncle had allowed it. Still she had loved her old school and her old friends and so leaving them to come here was bittersweet.
Although she only started at the Institute today she had stopped attending her old school a couple weeks earlier. It had taken a while to transfer all the paperwork and all that. Plus, her sister had gotten the flu and Great Uncle had needed her to stay later to help. I hope she does alright without me. But Yoora couldn't worry too much. Worrying just was not in her nature. Everything will work out; it always does, she thought cheerily as she ran her hand along the wood paneling.
After turning the corner it took her a little more time to find the art classroom. Entering the room her eyes immediately alighted upon the colorful banners and posters, and on the teacher, a very large, strong man who might ordinarily look intimidating but today looked very warm and inviting with his brown hippie vest, beaded tassels, and John Lennon glasses. Those glasses are so cool, she thought. I totally need to get some of those. The music was also pretty amazing. She'd never heard the song before but it was pretty clear sixties folk rock. The tight vocals and the poetic lyrics made her sure of that. They were what her music teacher back in Minnesota would call "urbane." She giggled at the thought of the very proper Mrs. Masters in some hippie costume like the teacher here. Smiling broadly she half walked, half skipped up to the art teacher and said, "Hi, I'm Yoora...I don't think we met at lunch. I'm your new student." It was an obvious statement but that didn't bother Yoora.
As she waited for the teacher to answer she took another glance across the room. She'd seen the other students there at lunch. She recognized the slender blond girl as the one the others called Aqua and apparently a friend of the charming Russian girl whose conversation Yoora had overheard. She thought she had caught the other girl's name as Veronika. If everybody is as nice as her, I'm gonna love this place. Of course there was also plenty of horsing around, throwing of food, and some colorful language but that was to be expected in a high school. The winged boy next to Aqua she also recognized as the girls friend, maybe boyfriend. The small blond boy and the dark haired boy who looked like one of the football players from back home had been hanging out in the group too. Everybody's so close here; it's nice. Oh, and that girl with the tattoos, I should know her name. I know somebody said it.

The last project was sooo much fun, Katie bounded into art class early expecting to be the first one there, but much to her surprise she was far from that. "Oh hi everybody!!!" she said with a look of 'what !?! which dimension did I just enter?' on her face as she did a little half wave and raised one side of her mouth in an almost smile.
She had sat with Sean, of course, at lunch and just couldn't believe that Ms.Frost was so damn cruel to him. "Wow Seany, that sucks...." she had said to start after he told her what was in store for him and the rest this weekend, but putting her best 'cup half full' foot forward she then offered up "...but it's really kinda awesome in a way. She put you in charge." The little half monster was correct in that, and adding with a big bright smile "I'll be there for you, if you want...are you guys allowed to have help?"
Him shaking his head was a sad thing, but she decided right then and there that she would sneak out with some lemonade for the gang when she could. She was the happiest when she was with him, and if she took some time to be alone she worried what she might do. There had grown in her somewhat of an urge to see what was up with her power. It was a curious thing since she was still sort of terrified of what the first demons to pop out of her blood would do or say to her. She just hugged him and snuggled into him and made him smile again.
"Don't worry though it'll be good, you can show Ms.Frost that you are a great leader and help so much with this wonderful aspect of the school that up till now we didn't have. Horses will be sooo much fun, you can teach me how to ride and everything!" K'8 was getting excited, and the best part was seeing TuneUp get jazzed up for it too. The stables were really just a stinky drafty building without horses, so it was well past time the place had some.
She was standing in the doorway and decided to grab her seat. The theme looked like something she wasn't really into, but she liked Colossus and he always made art class worthwhile. K'8 had been an artist for as long as she could remember. She used to use the insides of cereal boxes to paint and color on. She remembered it was a paper cut from one of the boxes that first started her on cutting. The feel of the thick paper ripping apart her flesh was so something different that she liked how it filled her with at least some kind of something. Ignored as she had been it was just what she needed, her power kicked in a year or two later and from that point on she was hooked.
Sitting alone she picked up a piece of paper and looked at the sharp biting edge of it.

A flash of blue was seen coming through the door and the next thing Colossus knew, he was enveloped in a hug by none other than Jocelyn. "PETEY! I'M BACK AND I MISSED YOU!" she shouted and squeezing him with all her might. Jocelyn was pretty strong but she knew she didn't have the strength to squeeze Colossus to death. "Oh, oh Colossus guess what?! I'm on your team now, you get to be blessed with ME! Isn't that awesome?!" She finally let go of him and practically bounced in place before she got a look at his hippie get up and heard the music. "OH cool! This means we're doing art 60's style again right? Oh I'm so making that trippy poster again and giving it to Kelly," Jocelyn said with a giggle.
The song changed to 'Baba O'Riley' by The Who and Jocelyn immediately began bobbing her head up and down to the song. "OH I LOVE THIS SONG! That's what I'm talking about right here," she said and when the part came began singing. "Out here in the field, I fought for my meals..." Jocelyn ran over, barely missing colliding with some Asian girl, jumped and slid on top down the desk that Gavin and Kat sat at, stopping right in the middle of them and leaning back so her arms rested on both her shoulders. "C'mon Wingman, let's here another sample of that voice of yours," she said with a wink. Joce always got comfortable with people quickly and she made sure to meet most of her team at lunch, being far from shy it was actually a lot of fun.
"I don't need to fight. To prooooove I'm right. I don't need to be forgiven, yeah yeah yeah yeaaahhh," she sang right along with whoever else decided to join in. She threw her head back and laughed, winking over at that little guy Kevin she met at lunch and continued belting out into a song and making herself comfortable on Gavin and Kat's desk.

What the??!? Oh just great as if Katana isn't enough to deal with ...this one's at the other end of the spectrum but just as annoying... Haven shook her head as she watched Splice doing her best lounge across the desk routine. I really oughta say something but what would it Nahh I cant hold back... "Hey Miss center of attention, you wanna act like an Acolyte and put a stopper in that? You're dribbling 'look at me I'm a retard' juice all over the floor...Jeeezus!"
She had her arms full of papers and after a quick flash of a smile to Ian she turned to Colossus and said "Beast sent me up with the schedule for everybody who didn't get to do their science presentation." She held up a sheet for her Team Leader to see and looked for a place to post it. "Is it ok if I hang it up here?" she pointed to a spot on the wall near the door.
Niki liked art but she had opted to take a study hall to help her buddy Beast at this time. Besides when Ian and Gavin got together with glue and macaroni it was not something she liked to see. Her fella needed his fun times too and she owed a debt of thanks to Hank McCoy for all he had done for her. She didn't like too many people in this world but that stanky blue bastard was definitely on the short list of her friends.
Then it registered that something was not quite right with the seating arrangements. It must have been all the blue and the fact that the new girl was so much of an embarrassment that Niki missed it at first but slowly it hit her. Is Heather sitting..on.. oh WHAT the FUUk??!!!?? Niki whipped her head back around, snarl on her face.

Ivy walked into class, a smile coming onto her face as she saw how the room was decorated. Colossus, she thought, was always a good teacher and she liked him as her team leader, and she liked his art classes. Art wasn't a class that she excelled at, but she wasn't horrible at it either. She was mediocre at it, one might say. Even still she liked coming to the class to see what everyone else had made, especially the ones that were really good.
She let out a little laugh as she saw the group forming at Gavin and the goth girl's table, there was Ian and Heather and that eccentric blue girl Splice. Her eyebrow raised slightly as she saw that Heather was sitting on Ian. Wait a minute, isn't Ian with Haven? Odd. Ricki wasn't there, but she knew that already. She had told her earlier that she wasn't going to go to art because they just didn't mesh. Ivy wished that she would go with her, but she wasn't going to force her to, so she came in alone. She took a seat at the next table over next to the group formed of mostly her team and waved at them all with a happy smile. She then turned to her bag and started to take out the work she had done for Colossus.

Tia liked art - she was more of the creative types, and she enjoyed it when she didn't have to use her brain too much and just go ahead and put any idea's in her mind to paper - may that be in form of writing or drawing she didn't really mind. She'd entered the classroom alone, pretty much in a decent mood. She was a bit annoyed due to Splice being a bit too loud during Lunch, she still couldn't tolerate it when people just spoke for the sake of speaking, and the sight of the blue-skinned girl just caused Tia's expressionless eyes to roll. Though, what really puzzled Tia was the fact that Heather was sitting on top of Desiel. She'd found out during Lunch that Heather and Gavin were finally dating, and she was very happy for her New Mutant friend, but the fact that Heather was now sitting on top of Gavin's best friend was just a bit odd.
Tia looked away, her eyes scanning for somewhere where she could sit. She certainly wasn't sitting at Heather's table because it was obvious they were going to be extremely loud, and Tia didn't want to sit there and one. get herself annoyed and two, ruin the fun for them. Even though Tia didn't enjoy too much noise and chaos, she didn't want others to stop having fun on her account - that was just mean. Her eyes skimmed over to K'8. K'8 wasn't too bad, once Tia gave her a chance. She was quite nice. But Tia didn't think she'd be able to sit next to her all lesson, she was still slightly bitter about the whole swimming thing. She sighed as she looked over at Nightshade.
Nightshade had just returned to classes this morning, though it didn't particularly affect Tia much. Tia liked Nightshade - the girl knew when to speak - and Tia appreciated that. Tia pulled her bag off her shoulder and sat herself next to Nightshade without invitation. "Uh, Hi.." Tia gave Ivy a weak smile and began taking her equipment out. She now properly looked around the room - It was very hippie style, and Colossus himself looked like a Hippie. Tia held no particular interest in the whole '60s' or 'Hippie' theme, but she mind much either - as long as she got to be creative and have fun.

Gavin was laughing and singing right along with Jocelyn, loving the song and in a very good mood. He did stop when Niki snapped and he looked at her funny. "Niki whats up? She's just having fun and she got back after a long time. It's all good you don't have to be like that," he said wondering what brought that on from her. Splice was just having fun and no one could really complain with her prancing in that tiny skirt and that fun laugh. To Gavin, he saw her as a breath of fresh air on the team and in general. With all the crap they went through with babysitting Torri the whole time, the feud with Frostbite, and then Katana coming in, they needed someone like Splice who was not only competent with her powers and abilities, she was a lot of fun and would be a definite cement to the team and make up for dealing with Katana. Gavin liked her right away and frankly couldn't be happier that she was on their team.
For the first time probably ever, Gavin was slightly annoyed with Niki. It was out of line when she barely met the girl and holding an animosity toward her for having fun and making the class more lively. Gavin shook his head, slightly disappointed and moved over to help Jocelyn off the table. "There's an extra seat next to Kat, sit with us," he said with a slight smile and helped her over. He sat back and then grinned at Kat. "Later sounds good, I did promise you. I had some ideas in mind for tattoos and I been itching to play my guitar today anyways," he said and looked back at Heather to wink at her.
"So uh, why you sitting on Ian? Is he that comfy of a seat?" Gavin asked with raised eyebrows and laughed slightly due to the fact that Heather must not have even realized that Ian was sitting next to him as usual. He laughed again and leaned back in his chair, shaking his head at it all. "Ian what's the schedule say?" he asked him knowing he'd probably grab a copy. Though they already went, he wanted to go and see what other people were up to, especially how interesting some of the projects looked.

After giving Heather a weird look for her seeming to absentmindedly sit on him, he had joined in right with Jocelyn and Gavin. He used to always sing with his dad when they were listening to music and helping out with household repairs. When he turned 13 his dad even let him have one beer just like him when they worked together and sang. The Who was a favorite of theirs and he loved this song. "Hey babe!" he said and stood up too fast, nearly making Heather drop to the floor. He caught her in time and steadied her. "Careful Blondie, you gotta remember who your sitting on," Ian joked and set her on the ground before going over to Niki. "Heya babe," he said and kissed her forehead softly, drumming his fingers on her waist. "Sweet guys, Doc gave ya'll the weekend off, but your all scheduled for next week. Aw man sucks that its like right before lunch stuff mostly," Ian announced giving the schedule a quick once over.
"Easy on Splice babe, she's chill. Just having a good time and there ain't nothing wrong with that," he said softly and when Colossus wasn't looking he kissed her lightly on the lips. Ian for the first time was extremely happy with the turn his team took. He talked a bit with Jocelyn at lunch, and he was extremely impressed. Her powers were just plain out amazing and from what she told him, her control on them was pretty good. She also seemed a lot of fun and left Ian in the good mood that the Acolytes were no longer in the shitter in terms of team members and the shape of their team in general.
Ian grabbed Niki and brought her over to their usual seats. The desks were two seaters and they always sat in the one by Gavin. "Sorry Blondie, they're our usual seats," he said apologetically and snagged their two seats. He gave a light punch on the shoulder, trying to make it so when he did it he was aiming for a tap and it would come out as a light punch. "S'all good bro, all cool. Joce is cool," he said and winked at the two.

"Avast ye Titless scalawag, off with yer head I say!" Sky shouted in the middle of a heated swordfight with the wooden Pirate swords that her brother brought back for her. She was so proud, he brought her a weapon of mass chaos and was taking pictures and making a bet with Chopper on how many times Sky would get a hit in on Lian. "I'll take ye down to Davy Jones' locker meself!" Her sword clashed with Lian's matching wooden one and then she swung around and hit her on the side before rolling on the floor right into the classroom and then on her feet. She may not be a sword fighter, but growing up as the only girl with a bunch of brothers obsessed with everything from knives and guns to homemade bombs and chemical explosives. Sky learned a good deal from living in the house she affectionatly referred to as 'Psycho House.'
By the time Sky had noticed the familiar 60s music playing in the air, she had whacked Lian with the sword hard in the back of her knees and was stepping on Lian's sword with the tip of her own sword against her best friend's neck. "Wow! This music is like a taste of home! OH! Does this mean we're doing 60s stuff? Whatever I do, I'm sending it to my parents. They'd totally dig anything from thats got to do with that. Psycho House could always use some new decorations," she said with a big grin and then stepped off Lian's sword and ran out of her range of hit and over to her seat in the back.
She winked at Kat as she passed. "Hey Kat girl, how's my pirate talk? Think I'll get it down pat?" she asked with a laugh before going to take her seat in the back. She was having way too much fun with the stuff her little brother bought back for her, and so happy to have a bit of home back with her, even if the first thing they did upon sight was wrestle each other just like at home. "Can I paint again?" Sky yelled out to Colossus and then waved at him.
