Eyes wide now, Mason looked at Lai, trying to gauge if she was serious or not about hooking up with another chick. He just looked at Mike with half astonishment and half amusement as he looked back at Lai. It was like everyone was staring at her now, and Mason for one had no idea what to think. It was then when an uncontrollable bout of snickers overcame him, making him shake his head and cover his mouth to keep from snorting.
"Oh man, that was great!" Mason said grinning and shaking his head. That had to have been one of the most shocking and funny things he ever imagined coming from that girl's mouth. Not that he wasn't used to hearing a smart mouth from a chick, he'd known Ariel long enough, and Aideen's sharp tongue was quickly becoming legendary, but somehow Lai managed to say something crass and shocking that was enough to surprise Mason and he bet shock a whole lot of other people at the table.
He finished up his snickering, still shaking his head. "You're alright Lai, I don't know how serious you were but that was good." He picked up a forkful of the omelet and took a deep breath, preparing himself for the worst. Here goes nothing. Taking a bite, he prepared himself to hold back his gag reflex... but to his surprise, it was good! "Wow... damn this is good. I thought I was gonna have to run for the bathroom, but not bad Ingrid pretty good." Mason nodded at her in approval and dug into his breakfast.

With careful measured ninja footsteps he had made his way up the long stairs. A smooth fluid motion, not one jerking movement would he allow. She was hardly a burden in his powerful arms, and his legs gave no complaint at all. Reaching the door at the top of the stairs he took his hand down from her neck "Hold on kiddo, let me just-" and turned the knob slowly.
He could smell the aroma of a wide variety of foods cooked together. Eggs, mint, peach and lemon.. plus some cheeses and fruit, but it was the coffee that had his attention. "-open this up." He pushed the door in gently and made sure to open it fully so it wouldn't touch her back. "Somebody cooked... uh..somethin" he whispered reaching back up to hold her head again as they entered.
The whole lot of them were in there, he had heard all their voices on the climb up, but as he looked into the kitchenette area he saw all their faces turn. The doberman by the door simply followed, knowing it's place. "Mornin. Somebody wanna pour us some coffee?" He said gruffly as he took her past them all to their room. The smells of gasoline and burnt wood lingering on them both, and the telltale burns on Logan's pants piquing the interests of those who were observant. "One more door doll." he whispered as he repeated the smooth movements not letting the opening of the door jar or jostle her in his grasp one bit.

Ingrid went from giggling at the looks on all the boys faces to staring wide eyed with the rest of them to see Logan walk by with Aideen in his arms. She didn't know if it was a sorrowful thing or one of passion from the way she was holding on to him, but nonetheless the state of them had Ingrid concerned about something, especially when she saw the look on Tracy's face. "Oh um, no do not trouble yourselves, I will get it," she hurried over to the coffee pot and took out two fresh cups. "Do you know how they like it? Oh I will just put a little bit of milk in it, and they can add more."
She bit her lip nervously as she poured the two steaming mugs, thinking what on Earth could have happened to them. They were both slightly damp and the smell of burnt material was very obvious. Ingrid found herself worried for Aideen a little bit, and hoped that it was just some lovers' spat or issue. She felt an odd connection for the girl, someone that understood what she went through. It was a comforting thought that she was not truly alone out there with how she felt.
"Life is never dull with them is it?" Ingrid asked softly looking over at the group with slight worry. "Well um, should I bring it to them? Or leave it here? I don't want it to get cold..." She trailed off unsure of what to do or say. She didn't know how accustomed the others were of strange occurrences like this, but she wasn't and had no idea what to properly do or say in a situation like this.

Lai looked back and forth between all of them, totally not liking the dead humor now, and at the same time a nagging thought entered her mind. At this point in time, after spending close to a day with these guys and now knowing the true identity, her mind assumed the worst. And from the scene that they all just saw, she couldn't be the only one thinking it.
She kept looking back and forth between them and finally after a minute threw up her hands in exasperation. "Fine I'll ask the damn question. Did they just get in some kind of a crazy fight with each other and he killed her? He looks like he just went through some crazy kind of fire and he's holding her like she's either dead or about to go there? I'm just saying it right now, I am NOT going to be involved in some kind of murder case here, I have too much on the line. No firm will hire me with even a small blemish on my record."
She crossed her arms and looked at all of them pointedly. As far as she was concerned at this point, anything was possible, and she wouldn't be surprised it that WAS what happened. Actually maybe a little surprised after last night and the fact that the two of them rarely went far from each other. Stranger things have happened though.

Tracy felt the flow of emotions from the smokey duo and the shock of all her dining companions as well. "I Uh," she looked at them all "I don't think it was like that, but let me see if she needs me. Be right back." she put her fork down and spun to Mason's direction in her seat to get up.
Pointing at the coffee cups she said to Ingrid just before she poured "Logan likes his black and Aideen drinks tea, he must have a lot on his mind..." She trailed off mumbling something about how he knows what she drinks and there must be something wrong if he forgot. She looked over at Mason and grabbed his hand. The look she shared with him was of concern, but not one of extreme concern since the emotions she felt from Ember and Wolverine were nothing as severe as what Lai suggested.
Tracy rose from the table saying "Nobody's dying today, just everyone relax. I'll see if I can help." She hurried to the door of the bedroom that Logan and Aideen had shared. Catching it just before it shut behind them and tapping gently on it as she stuck her head in, she offered her voice to let them know who it was. "It's me... are you guys okay? Do you need me?"

"Come in Tracy," Aideen said softly, feet planted on the ground now as she stood in front of Logan, staring up at him intently the whole time. She had never been one that liked to be rendered helpless, or taken care of by anyone other than herself, but she knew that it gave him a some sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. In truth, she liked how he took care of her, it was something that she had never really had before and it felt nice.
For a moment, even with Tracy there, Aideen stared up at him with her deep dark eyes, now slightly guarded from shame, searching his. She had been deciding on the whether or not to ask Tracy to remove the marks. Her Uncle wanted her to feel the weight of her sins and bare the mark. Yet, her sins essentially came down to being with Logan. Her Uncle had a very strict set of rules in terms of her physical relationships with others, claiming that when initiated to serve a higher purpose they were appropriate, but when initiated for her own liking and desire, they were forbidden. Any initiated without order made her an impure trollop in his eyes.
She didn't lie when she said she was not ashamed of him, and she wasn't going to allow the opportunity to pass to perhaps let him know she had been serious."If you don't mind, would you please take care of something for me?" Aideen asked Tracy softly still looking at Logan. She hated that he knew now, hated that look that came on his face at the building when she told him. It was all Aideen could do was stay in the emotionless blank state to not let herself feel that dreaded feeling that she felt now.
"You should probably get cleaned up," she whispered quietly, swallowing hard. She made the slightest move closer to him, but stopped herself. She didn't know if she could even kiss him the way she wanted to, if she even should. Something inside her sunk to the pit of her stomach then. Things weren't going to be the same with them, she was so nervous all of a sudden. Perhaps when in the car, the heat of the moment, when it was over she just wanted to be close and forget the terribly lonely and empty feeling that she felt for those few moments.
That moment had passed now and they were thrust back into reality, a reality that had Aideen unsure as to what to do and shamed how much he knew about her life, details that no other human being had ever known and seen it firsthand. She would give everything to go back in time and keep him from seeing it. Even the way his hands simply rested on her hips felt different, almost too light from his usual possessive grasp. She raised her hand, unsure, hesitating for a moment before she touched his face gently, her slender index finger moving gently across his jawline to trace it before stepping away.
Aideen didn't want him to see the deep, harsh marks on her back. They were her shame, her burden to bear, and her life summed up in the deep lacerations across her back. She tore her eyes away from Logan and looked at Tracy, pushing her dark damp hair from her face. "All I ask is that you keep it to yourself, and you don't ask questions. I cannot have a single scar or mark." Walking to the chair, Aideen sat down facing Logan and took off her suit jacket, folding it neatly to the side. She refused to look at Logan as she unbuttoned her shirt carefully, ignoring the stabs of pain in her back from every movement. Her tolerance to pain was impressive at this stage in her life, which was useful in such a situation, especially when she reached back to unhook her bra.
She looked at Tracy and beckoned for her to come behind her, grateful for such a friend like her. She kept her word, never revealing the shameful marks that she healed from Aideen's body, whether they be from Rumble, her training, or Sabretooth. Aideen stared at the floor, praying that Tracy would be quick as the raw throbbing skin of the deep open wounds pulsated from the pain.

Logan couldn't take the look. The absence of his girl behind those eyes was like a spike of molten hot steel thrust through his heart. It was a particular way she held herself, when she was in that mode where her eyes went blank from behind, and when she looked away from him it was almost more than he could take. That coupled with how she had pulled away from him told him he was not wanted now, and there were better things he could do with his time than bathe.
"Take good care of her Trace." he said gruffly, knowing she would, and stepped closer to take a quick look at her back. He didn't need to see it, he knew it would be gone when he got back but he wanted to. He wanted to know how much power that man held over her and what he could get her to do to herself. As his eyes scanned the lacerations on her flesh he saw it was worse than he'd thought.
He reached a hand down to grasp Aideen's chin and brought her face up to look upon. He knew she didn't want him now, but it didn't mean he couldn't take a liberty with her, especially after all that had happened.. he needed it, needed what he took. He bent down and kissed her lips, softly at first but then more deeply. "I got somethin ta take care of first. I'll get cleaned up later. Yer in the hands of the healer, Angel Eyes, the pain's gone-ta be gone in a flash and I'll be back soon." He grabbed his leather jacket off the back of the door, from the hook on which it hung and placed his hat on his head as he headed out the door.
Cutting a fast path back out through the kitchen as he slipped the leather jacket on he grabbed the mug of piping hot coffee from Ingrid's hand and slugged it down. Opening the fridge his eyes fell. "Lite?" He said indignantly setting the coffee mug down on the counter and grabbing a couple of bottles out."You kids drank all the real beer? Oh this day is just gettin better and better." He reached in for a third and let the door shut on it's own. Walking to the front door he twisted open a bottle and poured a splash into the Doberman's bowl before leaving.
He had a car to return and by now the police would be looking for it hard, so he would have to be careful. He also needed a bike to replace the one he had sacrificed. The bike was no issue, he had plenty of cash. He finished his first beer as he made it to the bottom of the stairs and set the empty down on a disassembled motor block.
Pulling out his wallet he flipped it open to make sure the bill weren't too singed to be acceptable. They're fine, let's get this done and get the hell back here. Might give her enough time ta get shit right in her head, but I don't wanna drag this out too long. He hopped back into the Caddy and drove off to return it. Nothing worse than losing a car at church, he thought, knowing he needed to wipe clean his Karma for this one.

"Um... wow," Lai said with wide eyes looking at the rest of them at the table after Logan left. "He's pissed about something or other. Damnit does that mean Ms. High and Mighty- uh I mean Aideen," she looked back at Mason, stopping herself in time. She didn't want to piss him off again after the way he went off on her yesterday. "Um anyways, she's probably going to be in a mood too. And then something is going to end up on fire. Wow stuff just sucks for you guys huh?" she said looking at Mason now since he was the one who was the one present that dealt with both those people.
"Seriously though, I thought we were weird. I mean Mike is just a character cause he breathes and can walk out of his apartment without killing himself. Dylan is a walking encyclopedia, and Ingrid, I love you girl but you have the be the most bizarre chick ever to be picked as the International Sweetheart," Lai winked at her friend and took a sip of the sweet juice that Ingrid made for breakfast.
"Anyways, I'm taking it at liberty for myself to steer this so the conversation so stuff doesn't get weird. Mike baby, I need to get back home to study. I have an Ethics exam on Tuesday and I need to study. I have to get at least a B+ on that Exam to keep my average up. I took a break studying last night to come to that crazy dinner, and now I gotta get back and hit the books," she said getting back to her food and popping some of the fruit salad in her mouth. "So after breakfast, we should probably get going. You guys okay with that?"

"He's not pissed baby, that's just how he gets when all his favorite beer gets drunk, and he's never been much of a morning person. Right guys?" Mike said looking back and forth between Mason and Dylan, hoping to diffuse any distress that might be lingering in the air. "And who pulled that little talky-string in the middle of your back? Seriously, what got you thinking about stuff beside your dream girl's legs? Huh?"
He crossed his arms across his chest and looked at her sternly for a minute before shooting her a wink. "Yeah, I know.. it's my schoolwork Mike.. I hear it all the time, from this one." He pointed his thumb at Lai while he looked at Mason. Then turning back to his girl he asked "Why'dja have ta be so damn smart? I love your brain you know, but come on Lai. We'll leave soon enough, finish your uh," he pointed at what was left on her plate "Whatever it's called and relax. I promise to get you back in time."
"And I'll rub you feet as you study, you know how that get's your" he nodded slowly "brain juices flowing." With a flutter of his eyebrows Mike grinned his trademarked grin at her. "Yeah, brain juices... heh" he muttered as he reached a hand over to gently grab the back of her neck and give her a little taste of his magic fingers. He rubbed the tension out for a bit and then he reached for his own coffee. Seeing it empty he turned to Ingrid and asked "Can I get a refill? I like my coffee like I like my women.. hot, black and sweet." Nodding as he grinned at the Swedish sweetypie and then slowly turning back to Lai the look on her face made him stop grinning and nodding. "What!?! What'd I? Whu- OHhhh.. woMAN Woman. Just one? - Just the one! I like my coffee like I like my one and only woman. Better? yea?" He knew he was going to get punched again.

"Oh Mike," Ingrid said shaking her head with a giggle as she poured him a cup of coffee. "You must learn to think before you speak. It might save you some bruises." She tapped his forehead with a slim finger and gave him a knowing look. She thought that he and Lai made the funniest couple, and though it took her a little while to get used to Mike and his humor, she loved hanging out with them now.
They were some of the few people that she counted as her real friends, that was no small feat either. They didn't look at her and see the International Top Model or the new up and coming actress in Hollywood, they saw her as the quirky girl that liked to dance around in Dylan's underwear to classic rock songs and the girl that liked to cry at romance movies and still wore a tiara on her head when she watched a Disney movie. It meant a lot to Ingrid that they saw her as her and no one else. Though Dylan didn't say it, she knew that he wondered sometimes why she was with him. It was for that same reason that he didn't see her as THE Ingrid Graber, but rather as Ingrid, the stealer of underwear and experimental cook. She loved that about him, and she made sure he never forgot.
"I hate to say this, but I do not know if I can stay all day and see you off either. The premiere in Paris is this week and I need to get ready for photo shoots with Lena." Ingrid paused for a moment and realized what she forgot to clarify for Mason. "Oh sorry, Lena is my personal assistant, she helps me get all my shopping done for my appearances. But yes, I am supposed to meet with her tonight, and I do hate to keep anyone waiting too long." She slid carefully into Dylan's lap and looped her arms loosely around his neck. "We will still have our Wii Bowling night tonight, yes?" She asked with wide eyes, pouting her lips cutely for him.

"Oh well um, of course, it wouldn't be prudent to break our one year tradition now would it?" Dylan said putting an arm around Ingrid's slim waist and smiling up at her. She was excellent at diffusing situations and making the atmosphere pleasant again, and that was something that was needed after the unexpected scene they encountered earlier. To be quite honest, Dylan hadn't expected things to get any more bizarre and outlandish with all the people he knew at the school, but he saw that he could still be surprised. He was quite good at predicting people's future behavior's but he found that even he could be wrong.
Dylan looked at his almost empty plate and decided to ignore it to keep Ingrid in his lap. He wasn't all that strong, but Ingrid was light enough for him to hold her comfortably. She had a small frame despite her height, and Dylan felt like a big man, something that NEVER happened, whenever he was able to hold her easily on his lap. "Are you guys expected to come back tonight? You're welcome to stay with Ingrid and I if you would need an extra night. We have plenty of room," he offered looking at Mason to try and distract him from being worried.
It seemed that since Dylan first met Mason, he was always worried about everyone and everything around him, though he didn't like to show it. He concluded that Mason must be having a difficult time as it was something with his girlfriend and an obvious close friend of his. And Dylan had no problem picking up conversation to distract him. "I remember how you used to trudge into class, still reeking of beer and cigarette smoke on a Monday morning, and you had just gotten back from a long weekend of doing, well I assume everything we weren't supposed to do and more, just several minutes beforehand. If looks could kill, I think Scott would have killed you several times for showing up the way you did." He chuckled to himself, remembering Mason's more wild days and how he too drove the teachers crazy. "Before I forget, how are you liking team captain?" Dylan asked taking a sip of his juice.

"Never thought I'd be team captain when I first joined, huh Einstein?" Mason said tearing his eyes away from the hallway and looking over at Dylan. He was worried that Tracy stayed and Logan was the one who left looking less than thrilled. At that moment though, it was nice for Dylan to make that effort to distract him. "Well I'll say this, I take back any of the crap that I gave you back in the day for doing some of the things you did. It ain't a walk in the park, that's for sure." He took a sip of his black coffee and smirked slightly, thinking of all the things he had to do as a Team Captain. It was a lot harder than what he originally thought, and though the Corsairs weren't a bad group, they had their share of problems.
"Kelly alone is a handful, but you know that already," Mason said giving Dylan a knowing look. He was there for many of the antics of the infamous Kelly Burns. "He's gotten better though, and damn his power? That kid's an Omega Level mutant, how scary is that? I told Summers just the other day that Kelly has the potential to turn the Earth into a giant cookie. He doesn't make things easy for me though." He thought for a moment, reflecting on decisions he had to make as team captain, some he liked and some he hadn't. He had his share of mistakes, ones that could have been prevented if he had been more careful and trusted his teammates a bit more to handle themselves.
"It's been a hell of a ride, but the team's pretty decent you know? They all got their problems, but it a good combination. You oughta come by the school just to meet Mato man, that kid is just mind blowing. He's the Native American Shaman I told you about, and I think he still has yet to even explore what he could do." Mason had a theory that Mato could perhaps delve more into that Native American magic, and who knows what he could do with that. "It does feel good though, I get why you never gave it up." He looked over the pretty starlet on Dylan's lap, wishing he had a camera so he could take the picture and show it to everyone from Kelly to Inflict just to watch the looks on their faces when they see the outcast genius with Maxim's hottest woman in his lap.
"Ingrid, you're guy here was one hell of a leader. The things he got us out of with his crazy ass mind was just insane. I ain't surprised that your a high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D agent now. Stark probably pissed in excitement when you agreed to come in," he said with a slight grin at his former team captain and friend. "How you got in Mike, I'll never know. Did you get Dylan to pull some strings?" Mason teased with a smirk looking over at Mike.

"Actually no, I had my mommy write me a note." Mike shook his head at it all. He was beginning to think maybe they were getting close to wearing out their welcome and he could use Lai as an excuse to beat a hasty retreat, but he knew that his old friend was only playing. Network was tough and crass but even he had his limits and he was getting close to reaching them. He didn't know why he rubbed people the wrong way, not all the time at least, sure sometimes it was just his humor, but then most of the time he was a bit oblivious to what he had said or done.
"No but really I think it had something to do with networking his Iron Man armor when I shook his hand and making him give some news crew the finger. I thought it was a good way to break the ice and show him what I could do." He grinned and put his hands behind his head as he leaned back in his chair. "No doubt you all remember THAT picture, it made the cover of what? Like every magazine ever. Thing is they cropped me out of em all." He giggled as he remembered what was going through his mind at that time in his life. It was a desperate point in his life as he remembered, he had just been cut loose from the academy and he, unlike Dylan, had no prospects for his future. He had nothing to lose, at least that was what he thought, since he had already lost everything.
"That wasn't when I went to interview for the job, just the first time I met him not as some student- you remember right after me and Dylan left the school? All that mess that went down in Manhattan? Yeah, well we were there and we lent a hand, so old chrome-dome was doin his 'let me thank all the little people who helped out' photo op and hey... I felt like makin my mark." He leaned forward again and grabbed up his coffee and pulled the sugar bowl over to start scooping it in. Four spoonfulls of sugar later he started stirring and looked up again at Mason. "It was that or the nekid pictures Kelly took of your mother, not sure which. You know it's a little known fact that Stark is hot for cross-eyed, toothless chicks."

"Cross eyed toothless chicks huh? No wonder he hired you, everyone always said you looked like your mom," Mason said with a smirk, not missing a beat with their little banter. "I'll pass it on tonight while I go visit your sister." If only Kelly was here than they would have a real 'Battle of Burns' going on. Just the thought of it made Mason chuckle as he pushed his empty plate away from him and looked over at Mike.
"I just imagined Burns sitting here with that goofy grin saying 'Yea Mom Burns are the best.' And then he'd make a comment about your Grandma or your sister." The teasing grin on his face widened as he glanced over at Mike with a familiar look. "So how is your sister doing? You know, thanks to her now I really know how to keep Tracy happy," Mason said trying not to laugh. The sister jokes used to be the thing that always got Kelly in a headlock and Mason glad he couldn't feel pain.

"Tracy...?... happy?" Tracy said as she came out of the room shutting the door behind her gently. "Did I hear my name boo?" she asked coming up and kissing Mason on the back of his neck in that spot that made him tickle and shiver. "Of course you make me very happy, why? What did Mike say now?"
She sat down and looked over at Lai then at Mike. She was sure there was something going on that she didn't want to know about and she could respect that. She hoped that everybody else could respect the fact that she didn't heal and tell, but most times people asked anyway. Whether out of morbid curiosity or a sincere concern and she wouldn't be surprised if this time wasn't one of the latter.
Picking up her fork and digging back into her omelet she said "I told her that her breakfast was ready and keeping warm in the oven. She said she'd be out." Tracy hadn't the heart to mention that Aideen didn't say when exactly she would be out, and it was anybody's guess when that might be. "So really what were you guys talking about because if you were asking if Mason treats me right, then the answer is yes! He is always a perfect gentleman." she squeezed his thigh under the table at that because he was.
Yet there were those times when he wasn't and because she knew what was on his heart she could understand. Be it harsh words from a Corsair Captain over mistakes made, or rough exasperated frustration boiling up from the way he kept the weight of the world on his shoulders, or when he just had to have his way with her, she knew what he felt behind it all... and she honestly did enjoy it when he pulled her hair like he did.. when he did.. how he did.. what he'd do, rough and dirty. But she'd never tell that to anyone either- it was their little secret.
