Seeing the front of the mansion made a soft whistle pour through her full rosy colored lips. "The mess was worse than 'a thought," she said in her thick southern brawl. It was early to mid afternoon, and Rogue had just arrived to the Xavier Mansion. It was a while since she had truly been back and she took in a breath of fresh air to take it all in.
When she received the alert from Emma, she immediately came over. It was a shock that help was needed so suddenly, however Rogue was use to the immediate help provided over the years. She left Antarctica flying in a huge arc from the pole to the height of the oxygen atmosphere and dropped down as she arrived, allowing gravity to accelerate her to a speed she was able to attain on her own prior to her "de-powering". It was a problem since then but her powers were coming and going; still making it difficult for her to try know how strong she was at this point of her life.
Putting that aside, Rogue allowed a small smile to play along her visage. She missed her friends deeply and after several months, would be able to see them again. She entered the foyer of the mansion and headed straight to the one person she needed to see before Emma. She knew that Scott would enjoy seeing her again, and she missed him too. Another person she couldn't wait to see was Wolverine. He was dear friend of hers and colleague.
Seeing Scott's office coming closer to her, Rogue smiled again. The white portion of her hair waved in front of her face and she tucked it behind her left ear. The door was in front of her now. She knocked plainly, hoping the headmaster was inside. Playing manhunt wasn't in her favor at the moment, especially after the long day of travel.

Strangely enough Cyclops was in his office when a gentle tap registered in his ears. 'Wonder what's gone wrong now!' he thought and put down his training schedule for his own team of Corsairs to answer his office door. Unlike Emma he was the kind of individual who went to his office door to answer it, not just called out from his desk for a person to enter. He was very proactive and felt that a situation needed to be confronted head on when it arose.
So, rising from behind his dark mahogany desk he walked to the door. Expecting a young child on the other side he was surprised to see a dear old friend. "Well would you look at what the cat dragged in! How are you Rogue." the elation in his voice was evident and he felt as if things were beginning to turn around. "Come in and talk to me. How have you been?"

The door opening made the strand of hair that she tucked behind her ear, release itself. It didn't bother her, however she wondered why Scott has opened the door in an irritated manner. She still smiled, hoping that seeing her face would make his calm down and greet her warmly. She was right.
Rogue bit her lip and brought her left arm against the door frame. "Hey you, did ya miss me?" She then brought her arms around him, thankful that they were covered with her gloves, so she could actually have some form of contact with her colleague. She was glad to see Scott again and feel the "at home" feeling she craved for so long.

Hugging her back her said "Yeah, It's been a long time. No calls no Christmas cards, what gives?" He chuckled and led her inside his office. "You want anything? I got the mini fridge packed with protein drinks and bottled water if you're thirsty. Damn, I really have missed you kid. How've you been?" Scott asked.
"You are not here by accident are you." He adjusted his ruby quartz glasses. "Emma?" He asked her not knowing for sure but guessing that the Headmistress had somehow contacted the southern belle using CEREBRA. "Sorry to bother you, I know you asked not to be contacted unless it was a dire emergency, but we've had a run of bad, bad luck."

Rogue pulled away from the warm hug and smiled wider. "'A know, but ave been busy as ya know darlin'" she said with her thick accent. She walked slowly to one of the chairs at Scott's desk and plopped herself across it. She dangled her legs over the arm and crossed her ankles. "'A would love some wuata," she replied. "And ah have missed you too. God almighty it has been too long." She thought about her time in the Antarctic. She did ask the headmasters to not disturb her while on her mission and research however was. It must have been important considering Emma's tone and message. Rogue dropped everything and headed over as soon as possible.
She smirked when Scott mentioned Emma right after she thought of her. "Yep," she said with a nod. "Now, what is this all about ma dear Scott? The front of the mansion looks like a damn herd of cattle stormed through". She was eager to learn why Emma had needed her help so urgently. Something attacked the school and possibly others in it. She hoped everyone was OK. She looked to Scott's ruby visor and pretended she could see his eyes through them.

"No easy way t say it Rogue, I have bad news. Brace yourself." Scott went to his mini-fridge and got a couple of bottles of water out handing one to Rogue.
"The Brotherhood, your... our old friends, attacked us two days ago and the mansion is the least of our worries. The children managed to fend them off with some help from Colossus, Shadowkat and Nightcrawler. Pretty vicious battle but with some healing from HeartString, you remember her from Storm's team when she was a teacher here? Well, the kids are on the road to recovery, at least in a physical sense. Some of them are really torn up inside." He cracked open his bottle of water and took a small sip.
Capping it back up her rubbed the back of his neck and said "Worse yet though we've lost two of our own Rogue. Kurt and Logan. They're gone, Emma can't even find them with CEREBRA's help, so you know it's bad."

Rogue kept her smile on her face, knowing what Scott was going to say, would be bad. "Thank ya darlin'" she said as she took the bottle of water. She took a quick sip and then braced herself for what her friend was about to say. She didn't however expect to hear that the Brotherhood, her first home and family, attacked the mansion. With the anger boiling up inside her, the water in the bottle rose up and almost overflowed. She didn't realize that she was squeezing the bottle until she noticed it at the corner of her eye. She immediately retracted and twisted the cap back on.
She listened carefully and intently. Yes she did remember HeartString very well. She was always a sweet girl and useful when people were truly torn apart (sometimes literally). However the fact that her former family would attack the very school Magneto and Charles had founded, made her want to vomit. They were children!! Still trying to learn what there powers consisted of. However that point evaporated when she remembered she and Scott weren't any older than the kids that were now in the Xavier School when they started fighting and taking missions as the X-Men.
As Scott came to a close, Rogue controlled her anger and set the bottled down on the desk beside her. Then she heard it...the news that she dreaded as soon as it left Scott's lips. Kurt and Logan. They're gone, Emma can't even find them with CEREBRA's help, so you know it's bad. She didn't know what to think. Logan dead? AND KURT?!?! Her temper was short and her anger was rising. She wanted to go to Mystique and Magneto and the rest of the Brotherhood and kill them all. They were once her family, but no longer. The only family she had now was the X-Men and she planned to keep it that way forever.
Rogue forced herself to sit correctly in the chair she so casually decided to lay across on. She breathed deeply, in....and out..... making her anger stay under control. She couldn't believe it. They were gone. She wouldn't believe it for Logan was probably healing somewhere and Kurt...but where would Kurt have gone? She bit her lip, feeling a tear come to her eye. However she always needed to keep a hard exterior, and was able to swallow her emotions. She looked back up to Scott, staring at his ruby glasses. "So what would Emma laeike me tah do?" she said calmly and collected.

"Well, we hadn't actually spoken about much since the attack, but I know her and she is pragmatic. Your talents have been tapped as a replacement you can be sure. I will speak with her about your teaching assignment and let her know I'm giving you Kurt's Team to watch over, Team Paragon." Scott said taking charge.
Emma may have called her, but Scott would be the one to assign her as a Team Leader. "My best guess on teaching duties would be as Wolverines replacement, but Emma handles the education aspects. I would ask you to stand in if needed in any aspect, of course, as we all do when assignments pull us out into the field but for now why don't you make yourself at home again and go grab a room in the dorm."
Scott took another sip of his water and said "Teachers rooms are still on the corners of each floor, oh and watch out for these kids! I've had several reports across my desk about boys in the girls dorms and vice versa. It's not like how it was when I was, or even when you were a student here. The world is changing faster and faster and these poor kids are rushing to keep up with it."
Placing his bottle of water on the desk he reached over to a filing cabinet and pulled out a drawer. "CEREBRA's great and all, but I still like a good old fashioned manila folder." He rifled through to find the green labeled names and pulled them all out, taking them back to lean on the front edge of his desk before Rogue. "Here's your team's sheets, I expect no chocolate smudges on those when you return em, but it should give you an idea of who and what you'll have to deal with. I want you to keep an eye on the fire bender, I just updated her info but I don't know if I did justice to the damage she's got going on in her mind. The kid's nearly ruined and as usual I take full responsibility for it. The details are in her folder."
He stood up again as he handed Rogue the folders and said "Now I want to head down and check with BEAST on something unusual that I found. I think it's related to Logan's and Kurt's ..." he paused not knowing the word to use, not wanting to say or wanting to accept it but giving in anyway "..demise. So, if you'll excuse me pretty lady?"

Hearing Scott tell her she would be taking a teacher position, made her calm down slightly. So she needed to stay, possibly for a while and abandon her research down in the Antarctic. She knew she would be back in the states for several weeks, considering the sudden need for her to return. However making it permanent for the rest of the year...wasn't her plan. However her being here was essential and Rogue would do whatever she could to help her fellow colleagues and friends.
She nodded as Scott took his role as the leader, and listened to what was required of her. Hearing about the kids made her giggle. "Them kids gettin' on your nerves?" she asked teasingly. "Oh well don't worry Scott darlin', Ah'll make sure they know who is boss around here." She smiled widely and pointed to her heart with her thumb. When it came to being a hard ass, Rogue was definitely it. Probably why she was needed for the Paragon team. She wondered who her students would be and according to their powers, how she would commence training.
She stood up as Scott headed to his cabinet to hand her all the information. Gracefully taking it from his hold, she immediately opened the file and skimmed through the pages. She saw Ember's file as soon as he said "fire bender" and paused. She seemed to have quite a power, better than Pyro's. She smirked at the thought of his jealousy. Pour Pyro couldn't generate fire...only control it. Rogue returned to reality and looked over Ember's file, ignoring the comment on the chocolate smudges. She couldn't help but sneer a laugh and look at the headmaster before returning to her reading. "She was made team leader?" she asked Scott. Emma and Scott must have agreed that she was quite capable of being the Paragon's leader for her to be placed into that position. However he mentioned that she was "nearly ruined" and he took full blame. That was how Scott was however, he always took the blame even when he wasn't at fault.
She read the file, shocked more and more as the words scrolled in her head. "What does BEAST say about all this?" she asked while tapping her index finger over Ember's information. She wanted to know how to handle the girl. Having mentally disturbed kids wasn't her forte, however she would follow instructions as to how she saw fit. Hearing about BEAST and Scott having to head down, she saw an opportunity. "Could this pretty lady tag along? I would love to see Henry and also ask him about.....Aideen," she said while looking to the file to see Ember's name. Aideen, she thought. What a nice name.

"Sure, if you want. I thought you might like to get settled in but you know I'm glad you want to dive back into the goings on here." Scott smiled as he grabbed his bottle of water and led Rogue to the door of his office.
"It's nice to have you back, too bad it's not under the best of circumstances. When you get a chance though you have got to try out the improvements BEAST has done to the Danger Room." He held the door open for her saying "In fact I'm going to schedule a session for the teachers to get in there and mix it up a little."

Rogue smiled and closed the file. She would look at it later when she had her free time. And Scott was right, she didn't have time to "settle in". Aid was essential and she was there to give it. Placing the file under her arm, Rogue then grabbed her bottle of water as well and headed to the door with the headmaster.
"It's good tah be back," she replied. Her smile widened ask Scott informed her of the new program in the Danger Room. "Really?" she said as a smirk curled on her lips. "That sounds mighty fine darlin'." She headed out the door, ready to see Dr. Henry McCoy. It was good to see her friends again. She truly did miss them, and BEAST was always fun to bother.
