"I still can't believe you drove my car Doll. How did you ever figure out the stick and not break my clutch?" Mason asked, glancing over at Tracy in the seat next to him. He was in total horror when she backed up in his car and poked her head out the window to yell at them. No one ever drove his car, sans that one time the other night he let Aideen drive, but that had an ulterior motive behind it. Other than his girl and a select few people, he usually freaked out when someone so much as got too close to his car. There had been more than one occasion where he pulled a gun on someone for getting too close to it. It was a powerful car, and somehow his 5'4 girlfriend that couldn't weigh more than 120lbs drove it and didn't wreck it. He didn't even know if she could drive stick.
Mason glanced over at her and sighed, thinking about the whirlwind trip they had right to the very end. He had vowed a long time ago that should he get with Tracy, she'd have no part of that world he left behind when Jean and the Professor took him, but he faced parts of it from every corner it seemed. He used to lie to her all the time about going out on weekends, even a couple of times after they got together. Yea he took care of her, yea he looked out for her, but he knew for a long time that he hurt her time and time again, even unintentionally. This weekend was to try and make up for all that, but it still went crazy and slightly disastrous. He knew she knew he loved her even if he sucked at showing it and hurt her a good couple of times as a result, but he did want to make up for it some how, cause he knew he wouldn't be changing so much anytime soon.
"I'm sorry for the weekend Trace, but I'll make it up to you," he said in a low voice as he turned the corner, leading them into an off season campground he knew wouldn't be inhabited by anyone this time of year. It wasn't a terribly long drive from the wrecked pub since he was driving at close to 120mph to get them the hell out of there. Just as he suspected, the place was completely deserted with the outdoor shower and metal sink sitting in the lonely dirt clearing with some picnic table and wooden chairs scattered all over the place.
Setting the parking break, he pulled the car into first gear to park and unlocked the door. "Alright, I gotta look at the damage. I know the car took some hits," Mason said with an angry sigh at all the bullets that were flying earlier. He hated that guys who didn't know how to shoot used guns, it seemed like such a waste. Getting out of the car, he walked around it, cringing instantly at a bullet hole in the side and several dents from ricochets most likely. "Six bullet holes," he said after inspecting the car. "God damn it."

Parking her motorcycle in the middle of the clearing, Aideen turned off the engine and pocketed her keys. Taking off her helmet, her thick dark hair tumbled out, her face expressionless as she smoothed her hair away from her face and fastening her helmet to the back of her bike. The stony expression on her face never left since the last scene of their escapade at the pub. It did take her awhile to get her heart rate back to normal and allowed an eerie calm to take over her.
The calm stayed with her as she walked over to Mason, her eyes on his car the whole time. "Nice plan back there, good quick thinking," she said in a neutral tone, looking at him with an unreadable expression as she quelled her anger back. No, the firebender had too much control to allow her anger to take over despite the high level of it. Her stance remained perfectly calm as her dark eyes fell on the sleek car, eying the bullet holes. "How bad is the damage?"

Mason looked at her, not bothering to hide his surprise. "Yea? You liked my improvising with that whole thing? I didn't think you would but I needed a believable situation that would make us look like victims and that's what I went with," he said, sincerely surprised at that moment. He had watched the knife go flying across the room when the bartender hit Logan, so he thought she was pretty pissed. He figured she understood they needed an escape though, she was always the logical type.
Mason sighed and ran a hand over the car in regret. "Honestly it coulda been worse, but I got three bullet holes and three... make that four dents," he said with a sigh when he discovered another on on the rim by the wheel. "I'm gonna have to ask Sean for a favor and have him fix it for me. Thank God it ain't worse though, I woulda been pissed." It sucked that he had left with a sleek car that anyone would have been envious of and comes back with bullet holes and dents. "You okay though? You had me thinking you were in the water for a bit," he asked eying her carefully.

"Oh, I'm fine, perfectly fine," Aideen said slowly, not meeting Mason's eyes as she moved to the side of his car and ran a slender hand over the hood, keeping her eerily calm nature in tact. "How fortunate that the damage isn't so bad, that would have a shame." She ran her hand over the hood one more time, finger swirling around a dent as her hand fell to the side. Carefully stepping away from the car and moving in front of Mason, she looked up to meet his eyes again.
In a series, her eyes flashed angrily and all her anger was channeled into her fist as swung up, slamming so hard into his jaw that the impact made him swing back face smash so hard into the hood of his car that it left more of an impressive dent than any of the damn bullet holes. Quite honestly, that was possibly the hardest punch that Aideen ever threw. It would have made a normal person need their entire jaw reconstructed. Her hand throbbed from the impact, making her well aware that it would get bruised and swollen, and she may have even sprained or broken it, but since she knew how to properly deliver a punch it was most likely that her hand was sprained from the impact.
"You Asshole, there were bodies everywhere, you could have used one of them as a decoy! Hell you could have shot one of the other guys, but you shot him? With me right there?! Seriously?" Aideen glared at him hard with the fire burning brightly in her normally dark orbs. Her hand throbbed like nothing else from that hit, and she concluded that she had to have at least fractured it, but she didn't care right then, she was furious with Mason. She didn't raise her voice anymore than she did when she tore into Mike last night, but was beyond livid. The heat waves were thick as they came off her body, and at that moment she made no move to hide her fury.

"MY CAR!" Mason yelled in horror as he pushed himself up and looked at the horrifying dent on the hood. His head smashed it deep, deeper than he thought possible, but that was one hell of a hit. Sure it didn't hurt him, but he still felt the impact and he knew a hard hit when he took one. "Are you out of your god damn mind?! LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO MY CAR?!" he yelled, turning on her in a fury. He figured she'd be angry, but he figured it was the kind of anger where he get the silent treatment not a punch in the jaw that would make him wreck his own god damn car.
"I f**king had to improvise! Your god damn boyfriend has a healing factor, and you really think I wanted to shoot one of the bikers and give 'em a reason to stick around? It was either Logan or one of you, and we got the hell outta there with a clean slate, you should be god damn thanking me!" Mason was now just as angry, and matched her toe to toe as they faced each other, dangerous burning eyes meeting the glare of his own angry hazel eyes. "If you didn't make so many god damn enemies wherever you went we wouldn't have been in that situation to begin with!" he seethed, not caring if that statement wasn't fair. Right then he was too pissed off to care.
"Yea that's right I said, I told you last night, I ain't afraid to hurt your feelings. You wanna put the blame on someone for us being in that situation look at your god damn self on that. Your god damn pleasant nature with people is the reason we were in that in the first place, don't get mad at me for getting us out of a mess the best way I could think of on the spot since we were all thinking you did something stupid and you know, died!" Mason yelled, getting right in her face the way she did his. He knew he was being unfair, but damn did she piss him off just then and when he was this angry he tended not to think about what he said.

Of all the responses that she could have gotten, this one made a look of shock fall over her angry face for just a moment. Aideen didn't expect this response, but he was right. It didn't excuse him from shooting Logan, but all of that did essentially happen because of her. A sickening feeling of guilt started to form in the pit of her stomach, realizing that she was the reason Logan even got shot the first time around. She composed herself as an icy demeanor came over her, her seething anger not quelled but overcome by the guilt and conviction from Mason's words.
"Well I'm so sorry that I made you all worry so, so much," she spat in a tone dripping with cold venom. "I'm so sorry you all think I am so incapable and too stupid to handle myself, that I would be stupid enough to intentionally do something to make you think I died. Thank you so much Mason, for swooping in and saving all of us from my stupidity. What would we do without you?" Her tone stayed the same as her eyes bore into his, angry, hurt, and a combination of so many feelings she didn't know what to say.
"Our hero," Aideen spat, holding his eyes for just a moment longer before she shook her head and walked away. She had nothing more to say, and frankly she was hating herself more than ever. The pain in her hand was making itself known more and more as she went past the car and towards the beginning of the trails. The day had suddenly become too much for her, and she didn't know what to do with herself. She quickly walked blindly on the trail marked 'River', hoping to find some place to nurse her swollen hand. Her shame and the whirlwind of emotions that overcame her prevented her from staying there.
The walk to the river didn't take long, or it didn't seem long since Aideen wasn't exactly focused on time. From her pocket, she took the same rag that she grabbed from her emergency compartment on her bike earlier to wipe the blood from her hands before she handled her bike. It was still a relatively clean little towel with a few blood streaks on it, but good enough for her to dip in the freezing cold water and use it to nurse her hand. A hiss escaped her lips as her hot fingertips made contact with the icy water, steam mixing together at the contact. Aideen had to hold back the cringe as she wrapped the cold wet rag around her throbbing hand carefully to bring the swelling down before the rag heated up from her body naturally fighting the unwelcome and unnatural cold.
Sitting on a large rock near the bank of the river, she took a shaky breath, feeling the weight of all the events that occurred bare heavily on her. I messed up. I messed up so much, and I don't know how to stop. The concluding thought made the burning sensation behind her eyes that she experienced earlier return, again much to her confusion. Aideen didn't know what to do with herself right then, and was missing how she was when she had no one but herself. With people in her life, she never thought she could make so many mistakes. Her old life endangered her friends, got the man she loved shot, and before that her past came back to hit her again with her Uncle. Then things with Logan were just disastrous, everything said between them in that car ride still fresh and raw, despite the fact they made up.
Knees tucked into her just on top of the rock, Aideen rested her chin on her knees as she tended to her hand, the skin warming slightly as her body fought against the coldness of the water, but the pain was still evident even if the throbbing subsided. She wasn't sure how bad it looked since her vision was becoming blurry as the burning sensation behind her eyes was stronger than ever. She felt so alone right then, so foolish and so lost. Human relationships were proving to be too much for her, a territory that she had such little exposure to that it ruined her development in the critical adolescent age, just as her Uncle intended.
It seems he always gets what he wants, she thought bitterly, feeling strange moisture drip from her eye, down her cheek on on to her leather clad knee. Aideen stared at the tear, ashamed and disgusted with herself for being so weak, for giving into the weight of all her fears and troubles like some common worthless weakling. She was not someone who wallowed in self-pity, and she wouldn't start now and let the tears flow, forcing herself to hold back the moisture building in her eyes to prevent another tear of weakness. She was angry: angry that she was so upset, that she put the people she let herself care for in such danger, and angry that despite all the things she excelled in when it came to her training and her schooling, she would always fail when it came to people, possibly just as her Uncle intended.

A strong wave of regret flowed over Mason as he watched Aideen walk away. He didn't mean what he said, but when he was angry he never thought about the words until after he said them. He always mindlessly went to strike someone where he knew it would hurt, and right then he hated himself cause he knew he crossed a line. He wasn't lying to Aideen when he told her that he wasn't afraid of hurting her feelings. The one thing Mason refused was to be like Tracy and Logan and spare her feelings cause she had a hard enough time dealing with them. He would be that person that was brutally honest with her, but that right there was just him angry and not thinking about how unfair he was being to her. His anger on her turned on himself over what he said to her.
"F&%K!" Mason yelled, raking a hand through his hair in frustration. Gritting his teeth, he walked forward and punched the nearest wooden bench with all the strength he had through his own anger, feeling the wood splinter and crack under the impact, but feeling no pain to compensate for it. Sometimes his power wasn't as great or useful as everyone thought it was, because right then he needed to feel some physical pain. He needed to feel something, anything to get the anger out, but he couldn't. It was frustrating for him not being able to feel pain when he needed it, and this was one of those times where he needed to feel something to get that anger to lessen, and he couldn't do it.
Mason leaned against a picnic table, pulling his hair in anger as he stared down at the ground, angry with himself how things went down. It was a pattern with him when someone got him angry, and damn it all, it was something he would never do had his hot temper not clouded his mind. A lot had changed about him since he was younger, but his hot headed temper still came back now and again, like now. He glared at the ground angrily, feeling slightly helpless and trying to calm down from the adrenaline rush of the fight.

Oh no, this isn't right.. this isn't how they feel about each other at all. I know, I've felt the love they have for each other, born out of mutual respect and a strange sort of sibling rivalry.. this just wont do. Her look went to Logan who sat there on his possibly stolen Harley, arms crossed over his bare chest, watching his love walk off into the woods.
Why isn't he moving? He's not even feeling anything but a strange sort of contentedness right there. I thought he'd be mad as all get out over what just happened but he's.. he's not even..?.. Opening the passenger door Tracy stood up, trying to stay as silent as she could. The sound of the door as it barely creaked open and the slightest of dainty footfall on the sandy ground broke the silence. The door was louder than a trumpet and her first step on the ground sounded like popcorn in a microwave on full blast. The stark contrast between the second before of total silence was enough to make her freeze.
Come on girl, you're the healer.. you're the one who knows what everybody's feeling.. say something for cryin out loud. She took a deep breath and stood the rest of the way, slamming the car door behind her. The moment to speak came as she felt eyes upon her and she hesitated until the moment had passed and they both looked away again. "Well aren't you going to go after her? Logan, she did that for you, she stood up to him for you. She loves you both and you" she turned to Mason "she just told YOU how much she loves him.. just then.. as much as you love your car. And don't worry I don't have any dents or bullet holes thank you very much, not that you asked."

"Nahh. She earned a little space." He said as he reached into his saddle bag and pulled out a clean wife beater and a red flannel shirt. "Way I figure I'm just happy to have her here, I half thought I lost her. Senses so screwed up from blood and rage and gunpowder, sea breeze kickin her scent so high up I musta missed it for that one moment in time. I honestly thought she was gone, and I can't think of any way to tell her what I'm feelin right now for havin her back."
He slipped his undershirt on over his head and thought for a second before pulling it all the way on. "I can't believe you shot me you shitbird." He said over to Mason. "You know she's never gonna let you forget it either. I was gonna skin you alive. Pull your innards out through your asshole or somethin, but I think lettin Aideen punish the hell outta you is gonna be way worse'n that'd ever be. You woulda made a hellova indestructible wind sock for the end of the basketball court though." He smirked as he pulled on his flannel shirt and rolled up the sleeves.
"I was gonna ask you" He said turning to Tracy "why ain'tcha chasin after her to heal up that mitt she busted on your boyfriends jib?" He reached into the other saddlebag and pulled out his Stetson and a cigar tube. Blowing gently on the feather in it's brim he placed it on his head as his thumb popped the end off the tube. It was an El Cheapo cigar tube, but he had put a nice Monte Cristo in it before they'd left Boston. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out his cigar cutter and stroked it with his thumb as he slid the cigar out of the tube and clipped the end off.

"You of all people should know Logan." Tracy said as she took a few tentative steps closer to Mason. "Sometimes you really need to feel the pain." Her words were said to Logan but the sentiment was directed to Mason. "It lets you know something about yourself, lets you know you're alive... lets you know you're not dreaming this whole thing."
Her footsteps had led her right up to him, to stand there before her Mason, her boo, and feel all that he was feeling inside. "I love you too Mason, and I did have a wonderful time" she said as she lifted his face, her soft fingertips under his chin. "I know what you're feeling right now and it's going to be alright. I don't think anybody could ever be as hard on you as you are on yourself, if I didn't love you so much I would hate you for that, but it's part of who you are, just as needing to be alone right now and needing to feel the pain is apart of who Aideen is." She smiled softly at Mason before turning to look over her shoulder at Logan "and THAT's why I didn't chase her down to heal her hand."
She leaned in closer to Mason, placing her forehead against his softly, and lead him to a place in his heart where he could relax as she stroked his hair. Playing with the little strands that liked to fly out from behind his ears and said softly "That was the first time I ever drove a stick, but you don't know how much I adore you.. I would never wreck your car. Plus I watched you for like five hours straight: clutch in, ease off the gas, stick in the gear, clutch out and back on the gas.. simple. The hard part was finding reverse." She smiled softly.

Still in a cloud of anger, Mason shrugged Tracy off him, glaring at both of them. "Yea it's all just nice little anecdotes of how all we need is some time and that kinda garbage. How comforting thanks so much really, just touches me right here you all care so much about it all," he snarled pushing himself off the bench and glancing the direction that Aideen went toward with a hard look on his face, raking his hand through his hair. "You guys didn't see the look on her face. See when she's mad, her face gets all expressionless and the only reason you know she's mad is cause of her eyes, they got literal fire burning in 'em. She didn't have that then, for a minute she just looked... defeated." The last part he said in a softer tone, really hating himself right then.
Mason was well aware he was still not being fair, and this time it was to his girl. She wanted to make him feel better, she knew he had beat himself up about his temper a good number of times before. Right then though his anger with himself was overwhelming her usual ability to calm him. He didn't want to hear that things were going to be alright, he wanted to go find Aideen and apologize and bring back the girl that was there just the other day.
He didn't want to be calmed or be talked to like it was all good, he wanted someone to yell at him the way he was yelling at himself in his head. At this point Mason thought he had better control of his temper, but truth be told he never lost it like this on Aideen. Yeah they fought before, plenty of times, but never had either went out to sincerely hurt each other with words. Mason was just touchy about his car, always had been since it's one of the few things he could rightfully call his, but he didn't consider it worth more than Aideen or Tracy. Yet because of that he intentionally said something that went beyond hurting her feelings to cutting her into pieces.
"I don't know what happened with her today and I ain't askin', but whatever it was ain't good cause she's looked too much like she did when I first saw her all those months ago. She changed since then, a lot, but looking at her today you wouldn't be able to tell," Mason said, feeling his anger at himself bubble to the surface. "It's probably useless for me to go and find her, you know how she is, if she don't wanna be found, she won't be." His eyes stayed on the trail for a moment longer before he swung around, walked to the nearest tree and with newfound vigor began beating the rough hard bark of the tree, desperate for some kind of physical pain, something other than his anger and guilt to shoot through him.

It took some time for Aideen to successfully force the tears back, and by then she had re-wrapped her hand after wetting the rag again in the icy cold water. Her hand was no longer swollen, but the skin was cold and it was completely numb from the icy water. It didn't seem to phase Aideen, she just kept staring at it with vacant eyes, her natural defense implementing itself into her mind as it blocked all the emotions that caused a tornado within her.
This was unknown territory to Aideen, she was in a dangerous and unknown terrain of life without even a candle to guide her way. It seemed like everything she did, even when she didn't mean to, was wrong and hurt someone. She didn't know how to fix it, as it wasn't something that she ever encountered. True she was not so old, only eighteen, but for eighteen years she never had encountered people that she allowed herself to care for the way she did her friends, and she seemed to mess up at every corner. Turning her emotions off for a moment allowed her to reflect the situation with some clarity and perhaps make sense of it and figure out her next step.
She hated knowing that she disappointed people, that she was the reason that they had been in danger and they blamed her for it. I'm not cut out for this. I can't do people, I can't do relationships, and I can't handle love. At this point I don't know how worthy of it I am. As much as I hate it, realistically I'm not meant for this. I was put on this Earth, trained for as long as I can remember to be what I am now, and I don't know what else to be. I wish it was so easy to just turn it all off like it used to be. I survived on being able to turn all emotions off for good, and now I'm lucky if I manage it for a couple of days. Aideen used the still wet rag to clean the splatters of blood off her leathers, meticulously concentrating on getting every last droplet off as she lost herself in her thoughts.
I don't know what to do to make it better, to make everything alright. I could pull myself away like I did before. If I just turn off my emotions, and put all of them at a distance they'll move on theoretically as humans require positive memories to keep the outlook of a positive person alive in their mind. Becoming cold and distant sends a negative outlook and should make it easier for them to move on.... ..... Who am I fooling, I will never be able to do that, not anymore. She remembered the way her heart lurched seeing Logan shot by the bartender, how for one split second she thought it was it for her, that her happiness was taken away from her yet again. And when Mason shot him, while Logan was still holding her protectively, she was frozen for about a minute in pure terror. At this point in time, she was in too deep to ever fully get out.
Keeping her hurt out of the equation, Aideen realized she was being unfair to Logan as well. She wasn't a good person to get involved with realistically speaking. She had no concept of human emotions, she would probably never fully understand them either or fully be able to give someone what they would need in an intimate relationship. To top all that off, should her Uncle ever give her an order against them, she would probably have no choice but to follow through and side with her Uncle. Aideen knew that she would never see the day where she'd forget the look on Logan's face when she was forced to stand against him and protect her Uncle.
It was right then in the woods, numb hand and all did Aideen realize that in the end, she was truly alone. She'd always be lost when it came to emotions and people, and no one including herself would ever fully know if what she said she felt was right. They would get caught in the whirlwind of her strange life, and eventually it would get too much for them. The things she knew in life and the things that others knew were too different, too far apart for either worlds to meet. Hugging her knees closer to her body, Aideen took the time to allow the feeling of being truly alone seep in, trying to hold the barriers of her emotions in check. She still had the dignity to not make a weakling of herself with worthless tears that never changed anything. Things will get easier once I fully accept my ultimate destiny. It will just take a bit of time. Her vision was become blurred again as she felt the burning sensation in the back of her eyes. Staring in the direction of the river, she fiercely held back the newfound tears from falling, her pride not allowing them. She needed to get a hold of herself, and calm down enough to show her face back with the others and go home. Then things could start falling into place.

"Some leader you turned out to be." Logan smugly said as he walked slowly toward the trail. Looking to Tracy he saw the sadness in her face. He'd heard her tone of voice and how the words almost caught in her throat as she tried to put on a brave front. He gave her a look to let her know he was about to wind her little boytoy up and put a ripe twist in his panties for bein such a shit. "Looks like she got you all bent outta shape ya pussy. Keep beatin on the foliage too why don'tcha. IT don't hit back. Betcha like it best that way, then you don't have to go for no cheap shots and talk about shit you got no right talkin bout."
"MY CAR, my car" he mocked the younger man in a whiny tone and rushed him. Grabbing him by his collar Logan spun the lightweight sharpshooter around pinning him to the tree as he snarled at him from behind teeth gritted together and grinding down on his stogie. Smashing the Corsair Team Captain again, and again, and a third time into the tree hard enough for some spindly and old limbs high above to snap and come crashing down around them. "I oughta use this body o'yers to smash the hell outta that piece of shit car. Teach you a gaddamned lesson bout what's real and what's worth carin about, cause you got one hell of a knack with making young girls sad."
He gave him half a second to glance over at Tracy before he popped his right hand claws out with a SNikT and sliced for his head. Letting Mason move out of the way but keeping a hold on him he went full force with his swing and sliced the tree so it would fall just right. Mason's momentum as he dodged was all Logan needed to turn the boy's energy and dodge into a profoundly skillful judo toss. Wolverine's naturally lower center of gravity, hundreds of extra pounds of weight and lifetimes and lifetimes worth of combat experience afforded him the ability to toss Mason right onto the hood of his car just as the tree came smashing down on top of him pinning him with a crunch of metal and wood under a hundred year old or more oak tree.
"Now, you stay there and think about who YOU hurt and what YOU did with your words and actions Bub. Maybe ya got no idea what happened this morning, or how she feels when she sees me get hurt but I got a feelin you aint that dense." He turned to go and then paused to touch the brim of his hat to Tracy. "S'cuse me Trace, I gotta go an see about my Angel Eyes. Make sure you get what you want outta him cause he ain't goin nowhere for a while." He turned and headed up the trail.
Damn kid, I gave him too much credit. He's just as selfish as that asshole Cyclops. Never thinkin bout what somebody else needs, only worried about his own stupid self. His girl's obviously in need a some tenderness, my girl needed to vent and that was it- BUT NooOoo, he had to say his little bullshit and mess up a great weekend. I hope that car is totaled. We'll leave him to wait for a tow and I'll get the girls back to the school on the bikes. His thoughts were spinning. With practiced technique he shunted the rage out of himself, letting him take control of himself and his emotions again. He didn't want to come up on his babydoll with an ounce of anything that didn't belong, he needed to be centered.
He stopped walking. The sounds of the forest in the early evening worked their soothing magic on him. He took his hat off and let the air play as it would with his hair as he closed his eyes and took a long slow inhale. It wasn't a tracking breath, it was just to clear his mind, but he couldn't help but smell her. She had the most amazing smell to her and even from what he guessed was nearly a mile away she still smelled incredible. He knew there was someone else out in some scary woods somewhere that knew the smell too and for a time as he walked his way toward her he let his thoughts roll back to that day, that first time he saw her inner spirit fight against his longtime foe he knew she was a special young woman.
He was surprised when he came up on her, not because of anything more than he got far closer than he thought he would have before her chocolate almond eyes turned his way. A lifetime passed or so it seemed in the long moment before either of them moved or even breathed, but Logan spoke first and his tone was proud but reserved. "I want to thank you." he said softly and slowly. It was almost as if he didn't want to scare her off like some fawn he chanced to glimpse at the side of a stream.
"I like to think I've lived long enough and seen almost everythin a body could see, but today you taught me somethin new. See I never knew anybody could love me the way you love me, feel for me the way ya do and hurt over the pain that I feel. I never knew how much I could love another or how heavy the burden of love truly is and all at once how inconvenient but awe inspiring and.. well they say it can bring a person to their knees, but until today I never believed it was this powerful." He took off his hat again as he took a knee beside her "Thank you Aideen, for teaching me about love."

Looking at him kneeling in front of her, the way he looked at her, the words he spoke washed away the resolution to be alone. For a moment, Aideen wondered how many people ever had someone look at them the way Logan looked at her at that moment. Words were lost to her as she stared at him, eyes wide with the burning sensation in the back of her eyes still present as she studied every angle of his face, memorizing his every feature for the millionth time. She couldn't look at him right then and feel anything but perfect, and so extremely lucky.
Try as she might for the next couple of minutes, she couldn't make words out without the tears that steadily stayed in her eyes threatening to fall. Her dark eyes continued to study him seriously, almost as if trying to convince herself that it was real, that he was real. After several minute, the smallest of smiles broke out on her lips, staring at him with so many emotions swirling in her dark eyes. "I'm on the verge of shedding tears from the lacrimal apparatuses, but that would be cliché," Aideen said softly. On shaky legs, she pushed herself up on to her knees and crawled over to him, her eyes locked on his the whole time until she was staring right up at him, the look on her face one of both awe and anticipation, pure reverence. When it got too much for her, she did what she wanted to do to begin with and threw her arms around his neck, hugging herself to him close as her head found it's favorite spot in the crook of his neck.
"How can you look at me like I'm so perfect, when I know I mess up so much?" Aideen whispered into his neck, her body shaking slightly. "I was about ready to give up on it all, and you come in and just...." She trembled slightly, struggling to hold back the tears as she breathed him in, the scent of cigars, beer, and Earth so strong and comforting. She couldn't leave this, now that she got it she didn't want to let him go. So many things were wrong around them, so many things would go bad just with their situation alone, but she needed to tough it out. There would never be anyone else to make her feel like this, to do all this to her. It'd be foolish to let it go.
Aideen pulled back from him for a moment and looked at him with a very serious expression on her face. "I need you to know that I truly hate myself for earlier, for standing against you with my Uncle. I need you to believe me that I would never willingly choose to do that, ever. I never told you anything before about it because I didn't want you to stop looking at me the way you do, to ever doubt me. I promise I'll tell you everything I can, and I swear to God that I will never stand against you again, no matter what happens to me," her voice was steady and soft despite her trembling lip and her body slightly shaking. She brought her slender uninjured hand to his face, threading her fingers gently to the facial hair on his cheek while her thumb traced the rough skin underneath lovingly, her eyes never leaving his as she searched them carefully, wanting him to see how sincere she was and how she felt. Aideen knew she didn't deserve him, but she'd do her best to treasure what it was between them.

His anger still surged through him, and he struggled to get out from other the tree, his mind blank in anger as he was determined to get back and attack Logan for blood. Unfortunately, unlike what the show in the movies, it's virtually impossible to get out from under one seriously thick tree like this. Mason struggled in vain, trying to force his legs to get out from under the tree before he went after Logan to continue the fight. He still struggled even after Logan left to find Aideen, his rage still in full swing. It took a good couple of minutes for him to calm, and when he did, he collapsed on the broken windshield of his car, breathing heavily in and out as the anger in him slowly subsided.
Even though Logan was the reason that his car was most likely totaled, he wasn't mad at him. He had given Mason exactly what he needed. He needed someone to fight him, and though he would never say it out loud, he probably needed a good ass kicking to get him to set his priorities straight. For a long time all Mason had really to look forward to in his life was racing, the thrill and the danger, and the feeling of invincibility. He sometimes forgot that he'd grown up since then, and right now was a good time to be reminded.
His eyes were closed as he laid back on the care, breathing heavily and finally calming down. The anger left him them, it was obvious just from the fact that he was no longer clenching his fists and shaking in anger. Mason laid there for a minute, no longer struggling to get out but just collecting his thoughts and finding himself in a much more peaceful state. "I'm sorry Trace," Mason said in a low voice after a couple of minutes, eyes still closed. He didn't know what else to say, truth be told he didn't know if there was anything else he really could have said. He had never been a big talker period. "For the record, I knew you weren't hurt. I had an eye on ya the whole time, if you got hurt I woulda known the second it happened," he added after a minute.
