"Excuse me Nightcrawler. Someone was in my stuff and i couldn't find any of my books this mornng, I had to find them first." Kris shrugged as he walked through the doors of his adored drama class. It had been an eventful two months what with everyon getting into a routine, tam practises getting tougher and the classeshanding ot more homework than he himself was impressed with. He thought it unfair he even had to go to school again anyway, back in england he had left as soon as turn 16.
Turning to see his two favourite people in school in their seats he turned about and walked up to them, his outfit picked out to try -and once again fail- in impressing his fellow high class darling. Her wardrobe was something he would admit to having thought to cry over. She had such marvelous taste! It had been a week at least before he had the courage to look inside it and see the spectacular collection for himself. Still, he could try least. As for the cutie beside her ... Kris had never seemed to really show how much the boy attracted him. Everything he said for one either sounded too cheesy to even be said or verging on a close friend. He never stopped trying though.
"How now, my love! why is your cheek so pale? How chance the roses there do fade so fast?" He mumbled softly, running a finger over the edge of Kevins cheek to his chin before sitting himself down next to Veronika. Those two where his close friends, they above all else. "Well my pretties whats on the to do list for today?" He chuckled.

"Ooh, I have one," Katana said excitedly. "'It was the day my grandmother exploded. I sat in the crematorium, listening to my Uncle Hamish quietly snoring in harmony to Bach's Mass in B Minor, and I reflected that it always seemed to be death that drew me back to Gallanach.' It's the opening line from The Crow Road. Morbid little book they turned into a wicked play. Much better than that flowery crap," she said shooting a mischievous glance at Hemlock.

"If i remember correctly Katana it was flowery crap as you call it last night that kicked your butt in training. Who knew you actually screamed like a girl. Could have fooled me." Kris said over his shoulder, not even looking up from grinning at his two close friends. He knew that the comment had been thrown in his direction but had grown almost immune to teasing over his nature. Most of the time that girl got right under his skin, but for now he wouldn't say too much that would rile her up. After all, anyone normal would be able to tell that his comment was simply playful banter. If true in statement. For someone who could manipulate bone matter, she was pretty much useless when vines grabbed her ankles and held her upside down.
"If we're talking about openings then how about Macbeth? The very first thing people see are three haggard old witches burying a hand. From the play i saw anyway. In those days everyone believed in magic and witches to be bad. So that would be a pretty dramatic opening." He said, looking up slowly at his team leader for some confirmation of his statement.

Lian smirked and then snickered. "Wouldn't you like to know," she replied in a more harsh whisper. "And no it's not food ya moron. I got us some cold ones from the fridge." She looked to her best friend with the corner of her eye and then paid attention to the current assignment.
Hearing Katana made Lian sigh. The girl still didn't know how to keep her mouth shut. "I know a great opening," she said. "It's on Leah's face." She padded herself on the back and then giggled at her own joke.

"Hey, Kris" Kevin whisperd "don't get drawn into her stupid crap. She just likes to hear herself cry I think because it always end up that way. I know you're all Paragons but c'mon, stay out of it. I like that you let stuff roll off your back, she's just trying to act hard but you know she's not. I like that line. It's from Midsumers Nitedream? Is it?" he smiled at the guy.
He had been kind of withdrawn the last few months, his mind still sometimes reeling from what happened, but he always put on a happy brave face to show to the world. He would really like to be able to spend time with Kris though, since he and Riker hadn't ever realy found that sweet spot like they had that day in his room.
He remembered the time he returned the book of poetry to Riff-Raff and also wanted to give him the Avengers sweatsuit that he had worn home since his own clothes had been shreaded. It didn't go how he had hoped. Riker was nice and he was cool and friendly, but he didn't let him touch him like he had before. No things with him were different and so Kevin realized that people were alouwed to change, to be themselves. It was true what his Grms had told him.
As for his friendship with Frostbite and Ian, well they all remained close at least close to him. He saw how hard it was for Lorelai and he sometimes hated Ian for what he put her through, but he saw how happy he was and realised that Lorelai had been real hard for him to stay with. It was life, and he loved them both they still loved each other too as friends, but it was just hard for everyone in a way. The whole team had been so tight but now things were just a lot looser.
Haven had turned into a good anchor of the team, she didn't seem as flighty and prone to fits as she had been rumored to be. Stormhawk and Taffy were great too, and of course Shimmer was getting better all the time. Ian had been true to his word and the two of them could often be found working out together, Kevin had respect though now. Respect for other peoples boundaries and respect for himself so he never said very gay things around Ian, not very gay at lest- he couldn't help some of the stuff that came out of his mouth, he was after all what he was.
Frostbite though seemd to be somedays rededicated to her own improvement and some days totally off, he understood though because she was going through a lot and he would have been less understanding if they didn't talk almost every night after classes and before lights out. He understood her, probably better than she understood herself some days, and he loved her most of all, there were times he wished he could be her so that she wouldn't have to deal with what she was going through, but that would mean she would be him and he knew he would never want to wish that on anyone. If he could have said it and somedays he did hint to it she was way better off than him, she would find another love but he would never escape his memeories.

Little Torri entered the classroom, nervous as usual, she seemed extreemly quiet until she sat besides Ricki. "Nothing much," Ricki replied, "Gavin, Skyler and I are playing some basketball later....again, and right now we were just discussing play openings," she smiled at the young blonde, before adding, "Why was my little angel late?" her voice was playful, with a slight teasing tone to it. Ricki smiled at Torri, before looking back up, and around the classroom.
Seemed like Torri wasn't the only one who was late, Heather and Lian seemed to walk in just before Torri, but Ricki hadn't spotted them. Heather was cool - she was friends with Gavin, hence spoke quite a bit with Ricki as well. The door opened again, and the Kris walked in. What was it with people being late? Ricki stopped herself from rolling her eyes. No sooner had Kris come in, did he make his excuse. Leah - from the Paragons, added to the list of openings, and soon the whole class was speaking.
Ricki's eyes followed around trying to keep up. The opening Leah'd mentioned was one Ricki had studied in English... when they were practicing effective techniques. It was quite an odd opening, but still, it did most definitley leave an impression. Ricki vaguely heard Lians remark about Leah, choosing to ignore it, seeing it didn't really seem to strike her sense of humour. Then again, Ricki did suspect she had issues with that, she didn't ever laugh at jokes... she only seemed to laugh at the most silliest things in the world...

"Again? When do you guys ever not play baskball?" Th tiny shapeshifter said with a small laugh. finally fishing out her book and slipping it onto the desk and turned to see others coming in behind her, thankfully not making her so nervous in bing told off. That was something she was still not able to get over, she liked making people see she could do things for herself. As one of the youngest - if not thee youngest - of the combat teams she felt a little pressure to live up to her fellow team mates in terms of control over her power. It was slowly becoming more fluid in now she could handle her shifting but it was no where near as smooth as her invisibility. That was her more natural feeling gift.
"Not my fault! Blame Nightshade! I didn't hear the alarm this morning, so i slept in. But she was gone! She could have at least tried to get me up too. She knows i love Drama." This hushed whispered made her blush a little and mumble more to herself than her friend Taffy. She had fit right in with the team, as had StormHawk although Torri found herself bonding more with Rikki than most. She, as well as Nightshade, Frostbite and Ian where her closer friends. The ones she would happily talk to. Her team was becoming more of a team actually, the way in which everyone helped each other and got along really had helped her when she tried practising. Shimmer liked them.

Gavin had jumped a bit when the door slammed, but not so much since he had been expecting something. He laughed out loud at Sky, ever the lady, while she cursed after jumping nearly five feet in the air. "Nice one Nightcrawler. Hey what about the opening to that other show that was made into a movie. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street? I didn't see the show live, but I saw a DVD of the Broadway show. It started out really cool since there wasn't an orchestra and the whole cast had to play an instrument right on stage as they acted. The room was dim just like here and then they started singing the Introduction and talking about this former Barber who had been wronged and now was back for revenge, building up anticipation cause you have yet to see who the man is and then at the end of the song, Sweeney Todd sits up in a coffin they had on stage. That even shook me a bit, but it was one of the best openings ever," Gavin said with a light laugh, wishing he lived close enough to New York to have been able to see it live. Drama was his kind of class since he was into the whole acting thing and he loved an excuse to play music whenever Nightcrawler asked him to for a drama demonstration.
While he was saying his bit, Heather came in the room and he had smiled at her. She was a lot of fun and he could definitely say she was one of his closest friends. Since he got here, Gavin had been hanging out with people he never used to hang out with before. Veronika and Heather were perfect examples, the two pretty popular girls that looked like they stepped out of beauty magazines on a daily basis (not that he was complaining of course). He got tight with his team as well, loving that they all did become very close. Him and Ian were really tight and he also became good friends with some outside his team, like Riker for one, same for Veronika, Heather, Sky, and Ripple. He was on good terms with almost everyone, save for Katana for the obvious reasons and the older kids who really didn't talk to anyone younger.
Gavin leaned back and grinned at Sky. "You're on Sky, and we'll see about that," he said with a wink. Gavin then rested his elbows on his desk and moved his leg so he could push Heather's chair in playfully. He hooked his foot behind the leg of her chair and started pulling her toward him and the pushed her away. He liked playing around with her like that and bugging her. She's just so... ah there isn't another word for it, cute when she gets annoyed or bothered, Gavin thought with a pleasant smirk on his face.

Heather heard Lian's remark on Katana and she couldn't help but open her mouth in shock. It was rather funny but so wrong to say. But that was Lian and Heather giggled and shook her head. For some reason no one really like Katana Heather included. However the New Mutant didn't have a personal problem with the girl. It was just that Katana would say a lot of weird or just inappropriate things or have fits at awkward times and/or moment which made everyone around her uncomfortable.
Heather rose her hand to answer Nightcrawler's question. "I guess Phantom of the Opera is another example. The auction in the beginning is mellow and quite; a bit mysterious too. And then when the chandelier is revealed the orchestra goes insane." Living in New York City allowed Heather to see many Broadway shows. She was a big fan of the arts, naturally, and Phantom of the Opera was one of her favorite shows (considering she saw it 5 times). But when Gavin mentioned Sweeney Todd, Heather grew a smirk on her face. She was lucky enough to see that musical as well several years ago. And Gavin was right, it was an amazing show.
Her blissful moment was interrupted however when she felt her chair being pushed forward. Heather rolled her eyes and inhaled sharply; a sign of her being annoyed. She narrowed her eyes and looked to Gavin with a smirk. That was her way of saying "OK good job now stop." But he didn't and Heather started giggling. When she was annoyed or bothered, she giggled and Gavin enjoyed going it too much. In response, she kicked his ankle making sure she was looking ahead so not to get in trouble. Feeling that she indeed gave him a clear message, she turned her head slightly and stuck out her tongue.

Kevin had never seen a play before except the ones he had been in at his old school, and he was never a lead player so he would always miss out on the beginning because they didn't have enough people and he had to be a part of the stage crew too. Nabraska was not the macca of arts and entertainment like New York, so he was happy to be close and really wanted to go and see a play soon. "I like a big sounding start, lots of music you know that sets a tone too, right? Hey, when can we all go and see a play cause where I'm from they don't have much to speak of- well unless you want to speak about cornfields."
Hey looked over at Kris and grinned, he was hoping that he would have said something back to him, but it was in class so he understood. Then he realized he didn't really greet his fellow team maets and he felt a bit like a heel. He'd stop by the game and watch since he was way too short for the game and not that he wasn't good at sports, because he was getting better with Deisels help, but nobody could tell yet and he never got picked so he was always the alternate and nobody ever got hurt or gave him a chance to come in.

Veronika giggled when Kevin and Kris came over, loving the two of them and the attention they gave her, and she smiled at Heather as well when she came in after Nightcrawler's first 'demonstration' of the day's lesson. She held back a smirk at Kris' retort to that dirty girl who shamed the Paragons. Filthy homeless louse. It is a pity that she decided to stay instead of leaving for good. She is a waste of space, and a waste of a mutant. I respect those without honor, but she is just as I heard Chase say many, many times, an idiot. "Oh I just love Phantom of the Opera, it really is lovely. We must see it again next time we go to the city," she said to Heather with a big smile.
Combing her fingers lightly through her silky and perfectly styled hair, Veronika had a cute look on her face as if she was thinking. "I have always liked the more soft and subtle introductions, that very much build up to the story," she said in her light Russian accent. "Phantom of the Opera is a wonderful example for a Broadway play on the subtle introduction I believe, and from Shakespearian plays, I do believe Titus Andronicus is another wonderful example. The introduction is soft and subtle, that compliments the rather horrific and sinister plot of the play. It entraps the reader's mind into the story," Veronika said hiding a smirk. She went to Finishing school and was quite the little actress on a daily basis, as well as a very cultured young lady.

Ignoring all the cross talk, as he often found that addressing such childish comments only made things worse. He turned the spotlight to the topic of the days lesson. "All vonderful plays indeed. Und yes I see your point Veronika." he smiled warmly at her, she was a true pleasure to have on his team. "Zhe moment arrives after much laborious practice, und in some instances zhe cast may have traveled from anozher country even...und zhe audience is zhere... und it is a palpable feeling. Now zhat is vhat I am hoping to feel from each of you!" he smiled with a wink and... ~ BaMF ~ ...Teleported to a seat behind all of the students. "Katana, I vould like to see you perform your scene first." he said from the row of seats halfway up into the theater. "Get up zhere, und give us a brief description of your theater...zhe orchestra, zhe lighting...Und zhen, to zhe best of your knowledge - no pressure for exactness, zhis is just un exercise- do zhe first scene." he waited to hear the rush of gasping air as the students would no doubt thrill to an impromtu request for unprepared performances. "Go ahead und pull zhe shades down to set zhe mood eef you like."

Although sorely tempted to retort, Katana bit her tongue and ignored the jokes thrown her way. Instead she faced forward towards Nightcrawler and tried to play the attentive student. Then, after more cliche suggestions were made, The Phantom of the Opera...such commercial crap. Might as well pick the Lion King!, Nightcrawler called on her to perform her scene.
Standing up slowly out of her chair she turned around and addressed the class. "I'm doing a scene from Winter's Tale...didn't memorize the whole Crow Road thng. So there is the king see, who thinks his wife is a huge slut and slept with this other king and thus the baby ain't his. So he wants to kill everybody. So in this scene the king is trying the queen for adultery and treason and she's in chains, its dark and smokey, with like a gazillion candles, and theirs a light shining above her so you can like see half her face illuminated when its turned down and the whole thing lit up when she lifts her face."
Katana began, her voice alternating between pleading and pride; at once running hot and then cold. A faint dampness on her cheek of half stifled tears making the performance all the more real:
Since what I am to say must be but that Which contradicts my accusation, and The testimony on my part no other But what comes from myself, it shall scarce boot me To say, "Not guilty."
Mine integrity, Being counted falsehood, shall, as I express it, Be so received. But thus: if powers divine Behold our human actions, as they do, I doubt not then but innocence shall make False accusation blush and tyranny Tremble at patience. You, my lord, best know, Who least will seem to do so, my past life Hath been as continent, as chaste, as true, As I am now unhappy;
Which is more Than history can pattern, though devised And played to take spectators. For behold me-- A fellow of the royal bed, which owe A moiety of the throne, a great king's daughter, The mother to a hopeful prince -- here standing To prate and talk for life and honor 'fore Who please to come and hear. For life, I prize it As I weigh grief, which I would spare.
For honor,'tis a derivative from me to mine, And only that I stand for. I appeal To your own conscience, sir, before Polixenes Came to your court, how I was in your grace, How merited to be so; since he came, With what encounter so uncurrent I Have strained t' appear thus; if one jot beyond The bound of honor, or in act or will That way inclining, hardened be the hearts Of all that hear me, and my near'st of kin Cry fie upon my grave!
She ended with a self-righteous defiance and pitched her head up proudly. "So the scene continues with them trying her and condemning her, then dragging her away. Thanks..." and then she turned and looked Kris in the eye and said, "Oh, you can make stupid comments now."

Sky was giving Gavin a flirtatious grin when Lian whispered to her. "I swear to god girl, if you took Wolverine's again, I'll beat your ass. He was so pissed at us before and we had grounds duty for a week," she said with a slight glare at her best friend before she turned her attention to Katana.
The performance was something, whether it was good or bad Sky didn't know. It sounded like pure gibberish to her. "Ok so I totally didn't understand any of that, but props for getting up there and reciting that long thing of gibberish. Is that how it's done in the play? That they just sorta stand up there and talk? Man these play writers aren't all that creative. There should have been a sword fight or something exciting like that," Sky commented out loud. "What kinda people paid to see someone up on stage and talk? Shit if that's a career count me in," she said loudly with a laugh. "I'll do it wearing a bikini top, I bet I'll make a shitload of money"

Hearing Skyler's threat made Lian snicker. "Oh c'mon where else am I going to get 'em? He won't find out this time," she replied knowing she would either get punched in the arm or hear it right after class. "Awwwww." She heard the assignment that Nightcrawler assigned and she really didn't like it. She was all for the arts and whatever. But when it came to actually performing she wasn't a big fan. She did it nonetheless and had no problem adding her own personal flare to it.
After Katana's performance, Lian gave a smattering of applause only to giggle at her best friend's critique. "I think our Katana is having a gender identity crisis," she said in response.
