It was a normal a Tuesday morning, as normal as it could be for Niki. After the evening she'd had with her team.. and her man.. and a new friend. Maddy though as it turned out was a kindred spirit, albeit a somewhat brighter, happier spirit, but Niki didn't hold that against her like she did with Jocelyn. Another night spent alone in her room, Ember out there in the world ..doin her thang with her man.. kickin ass and takin names, it was something Niki was just going to have to get used to, living in a room all alone.
She was not going to go into another room already occupied, that would just be too much to ask and breaking in a new room mate, one that would never compare to Aideen, was not something she relished. She would almost rather go back to sleeping in the lab than deal with some person she had nothing in common with. As for those she had to deal with, namely the rest of her team, and most importantly her Ian.. and her ball and chain Jocelyn.. well, she was already setting aside some of her grievances, at least with Ian.
He was kind enough to have come to collect her first thing and they had talked a little on their way down to breakfast. Meeting up with Maddy in the hall the three of them went down together and were sitting having their morning meal, watching the rest of the brave souls daring to eat cafeteria food doing their thing, or filtering in in small groups. Niki wasn't big on eating first thing in the morning but she was trying to have more than her usual black cup of coffee, since Ian was 'hella insistent' as he would say, that she put something in her belly at breakfast.
"So yeah, uh.. Aideen?" she was in the middle of covering for her room mate since Ian had asked how she was after being promoted and if she wasn't just too excited to even sleep "Well, you know her. Business as usual, got to bed on time, and uh.. up at the crack of dawn? And then, you know her right? She uh, went.. right out to do her training. Yup." She looked at Maddy, quickly changing the subject, as she asked "Good eggs?"

"De eggs are jus' how I like 'em: covered in hot sauce an' smoky pepperjack cheese!" Maddy said with a grin, digging into her food right away. She wasn't a huge fan of eggs in the morning, but when she did eat them she went all out on toppings. "Afte' de flick las' night, Ah'm in de mood fo' somethin' spicy. Sexy blondes do dat t'meh." She winked at Niki as her eyes flickered to Jasper sitting a couple of tables down. Maddy didn't plan on pursuing anything with him, cause she knew a lost cause when she saw one. Still, it kind of bothered her since there was something about him that really drew her to him. Maddy should really learn to ignore that instinct though, the last time she gave in, it ended with heartbreak and a couple of trips to the hospital.
"Any o' yah'll got flyin' class lata? Ah'm guessin' not but it ain' hurt no one t'ask," she said taking a sip of her orange juice as she looked at them both with her light green eyes rimmed in dark purple eyeliner to make them stand out. "Ah certainly am not goin'. Ah was tinkin' a'puttin' on mah skates an' goin' fo' a spin outside. Yah wanna join?" A grin spread on her face as she giggled at the look on Niki's face. "Ah can teach yah, an' Ah got an extra pair if yar up fo' it. It's actually fun an' does a hellova lot fo' your body." She tapped her arm to point to the gently defined arm muscles underneath her black fishnet shirt.
"Ah gotta keep trainin' keep in shape an' such. Don' wanna lose mah edge in de derby." Maddy tucked a strand of her chin length hair behind her ear and moved the eggs on her table a little bit. "Yah gonna go an' get a workout in Ian? Ah noticed yar bag righ' there so Ah figured that was probably it," she said with a sheepish grin, her eyes darting just for a split second to Jasper before looking back at Ian and Maddy.

"Mmmmm bay-con.... BACON! Oh sorry babe. Bacon's my thing ya know," Ian said munching on the bacon from the pile on his plate. There was nothing like some bacon that was both crispy and chewy at the same time to start off his day and make it a bit better. He decided to find Niki this morning so they could at least talk and not cause a rift in the team like it was with Frostbite. They could get mad at each other sure, but what made them different, at least to Ian, is that when they were pissed it was nothing they couldn't talk out and somehow solve. Sure Niki was his girl, but she was his friend too and that's what made it awesome.
"I already worked out this morning actually. Didn't sleep well so I got up an hour early and hit the gym. It was pretty much just me there though, did some laps in the indoor pool, before that lifted some weights and stuff," he said taking a sip of his orange juice and looking over at Maddy. "That's why I asked about Spitfire, didn't see her in the gym like I usually do. But yea I took a shower and worked up a HUGE appetite, so uh, here I am!" Ian took another piece of bacon and took a bite of it. "Mmmmm Bay-CON!"
Ian sat back and just chilled, looking at the others at the table. "Damn Gavin promised he'd bring me back another plate of hash browns. Probably stopped to flirt with some chick. Gettin' his eggs laid everywhere. Heh I'm writing that one down," he said with a laugh. "Why don't ya try the skating Niki? Ya might like it, and it's a hell of a lotta fun." He suggested looking over at his girl.

"C'mon Jaspis eat something. You've been playing with your eggs for five minutes," said Heather. She was sitting across from Jasper, wearing a nice white day dress with a collar long the neck line. It was plain but still very Old Hollywood like and Heather was in a good mood when she woke up this morning. She didn't know if it was the talk with Veronika or something else, but she was feeling good. She wasn't so miserable or upset about Gavin anymore and she was feeling more positive about their relationship. She was definitely bummed out about it not working out. But not talking to him for a whole day felt too weird.
After she showerd and cleaned up, she curled her hair to give it a wavy semi-beach feel. She loved how it looked when she got ready for her date and decided to allow her girly self to show off again. Plus, she always felt like looking pretty when she was in a good mood. She was able to run into Jasper on her way to breakfast and they started talking and catching up. He was like a brother to her, as the New Mutants were, and she could see him being in a somewhat upset condition.
"Look, I'm fine. Really. Gavin is my best friend so I'm sure we'll be fine. I just needed some time," she continued as she finished her corned beef hash. "But stop changing the subject. Something is bothering you. So tell me. You know I'm here for you just like the rest of us are." She placed her hand on his, showing the team love and bond that they had. The New Mutants truly were like a family and that was one of the best qualities of the team. Heather didn't want anyone she knew to be upset (or even strangers for that matter) and she just had to confront Jasper about it when she saw him. It was her nature.

Lurai emerged from the kitchen with a plate of heaping bacon, hash browns, and eggs covered in sticky syrup. This was round one of her breakfast, so she was counting on going back and getting sausage and whatever else she missed the next time around. The aromas emanating from her plate tickled her nose and she wanted to just dig in right there, face first, but she knew she had to work on her table manners so there was a knife and a fork nestled in between one hand and her plate.
Ears twitching as she caught the different conversations in the cafeteria, she spotted a small gathering of her team and went over. Having caught the last of what Heather had said, Lurai's interest was piqued. It seemed that there were at least two things that had gone on while she'd been on the hunt for that stupid rabbit that always narrowly got away from her.
She took a seat at the table with Heather and Jasper, sitting on Heather's side and putting down her plate, her eating utensils clattering as she dropped them on the table. "What is this I hear going on with you guys? I have been so intent on getting that rabbit...what has been happening with you two? Gavin, and something on your end?" she asked rather bluntly, wanting to know what was going on in her team as she eyed Heather's hand over Jasper's. While Riker took more of the leadership role as the Alpha male, Lurai was still just as invested in the team as the Alpha female, so when she could overhear that some things seemed to be amiss, she was interested.

Kevin came back to his seat with his plate refilled from the super cool food dispenser. "I love that thing! It's like totally Star Trek and stuff. Oh hold on be right back" He set his tray full of food down across from Ian and next to Maddy and went heading over to the New Mutant's table. He had noticed Heather finally after being too absorbed in eating and then getting more food and he had made himself a promise he was about to fulfill.
Pulling out a small envelope with a tiny card inside he walked up to stand on the other side of the table from Heather and hold it up. Placing it down on the table he slid it across to her. He felt really bad about messing up her bed, not when he did it but later in the night as he was visualizing loading up the regrets of his life in his little red wagon and giving it a shove over the mental cliff he had imagined, something fell out and unfolded. The one thing he did that he had no reason to do, and that he actually could make amends for. He hoped Heather received it well as he bowed his head to her slightly and left their area.
Returning to his food he plopped down and smiled over to his team mates. "I can't wait to get a workout in with you Ian. Same time today? Hey," he looked at Diesel a little closer "wait a minute, you already showered? Did you workout without me again? What's wrong? Am I doing something to bug you? I mean, well I just, I don't get it? I'm busting myself up and look at all this food." He pointed to his second heaping tray of breakfast stuff. "I'm doing just what you tell me to, lifting how you say and eating big cause like you say 'you got to eat big to be big' and all. And I know I'm getting stronger, but I don't have super strength so you have to cut me a little bit of a break. I promise I'll try harder, I'm totally rededicating myself."

Through the doors walk in all the Paragons together, sans Dante who had immediately gone out for a smoke. Veronika had called a little meeting early in the morning for all to get together in one of the empty classrooms and decide what they were going to do about their little problem. All the real Paragons were there except for Liv, which struck many as odd as they had all assumed that she would be one of the first in line to gun for revenge. Nonetheless, the meeting was productive and they had their own game plan in mind for how they will handle their Acolyte pest problem.
Veronika sauntered in and picked up some egg whites and a buttered english muffin for her breakfast, feeling quite pleased with herself. The power she had over people amazed her each time. She had gotten her team so riled up and so angry with her words as she led the meeting, balancing it with Chase as to not drop the illusion to others that he was sort of their ring leader. The look on the faces made it very clear how they were all feeling and Veronika was extremely pleased with herself.
"I do wonder what happened to Liv, she should have been there. I presume none of you saw her," she said to the Paragons that moved to sit together in the cafeteria. With all the disarray among some of the teams, Veronika felt that she should make it a point how strong and intimidating the Paragons could be. "We must fill her in on it later. Chase, Sky, are you both planning on getting the *ahem* supplies? Kris can certainly help with that, I believe he's already ahead of us on that." She winked at Kris and her sapphire eyes trailed to the camera around his neck that held the first step to their psychological battle move to hopefully be the straw that would break the blue camel's back,

"Ahhaahaa! Yeah that's the way you gotta do it if you want to keep up with the rest of the Paragons." Kyle said giving the youngest boy a little shove as they came in from the back of the cafeteria through the glass doors that led to the basketball court. "Train hard, cause we're the best."
Fleet looked over to Veronika and Chase giving a thumbs up to let them know the newest Paragon reMOVE had kept up on the run they had asked him to lead the boy on. He didn't want to be left out of the 'big plan' that Chase had mentioned, but he understood he was still an outsider and he took pride in his role as an intermediary between the way things used to be and the way they were nowadays. Babysitting the new kid wasn't what he had anticipated to be his role, but if that's what it took he'd just have to deal with it and make the most of it.
The kid wasn't all that bad as long as Kyle pushed the pace to the point where he wouldn't run his mouth anymore. He didn't bother to dial up at all, he didn't need to, he just kept the pace at the point where the boy would be able to still breathe if he only shut up. The sound of their feet crunching through the trail that ran around the lake was all that he wanted to hear from the kid. After he realized he would never stop about his lap top and his ipod and how he was some kind of a DJ or some international blogger or some crap that just came pouring out in a giant non-stop word vomit of a sentence, Kyle just rolled his eyes and said "Keep up" and started running.
As soon as they got back to the pool area he made the kid stretch and the talking started again. He'd checked his watch and saw the meeting would probably be over by then so he brought the kid in for some food. "OK come over here" he said to Vincent, "this here's the food dispenser. Get over here so you can see."
Once Vincent was looking he showed him how he could just key in what he wanted, there was even just pictures if you didn't know or couldn't speak the language, or you could say what you wanted. Kyle ordered verbally, holding down the auditory button. "4 strips of Bacon and three eggs over easy, with blueberry pancakes and maple syrup, oh and plenty of butter on the pancakes." A moment later his tray slid out with his exact order.
"Verbal orders are great if you want to personalize your meals. Silverware's right over here and the fountain drinks are those big jobbies right there. You know how they work right? So go ahead and grab yourself something to fill up and join the rest of the team over here." Kyle left him to figure out what he was supposed to do. The kid was a Paragon, he was going to have to learn quick and Kyle wasn't gonna hand-hold him. If Vincent couldn't figure it out after it was explained he could just starve then and that would be less hassle and babysitting detail for him to deal with.
"Hey." He looked around at the team as he sat down next to Ripple. "Kid's alright, a little chatty, but he's ok. How'd it go?" He was not completely out of the loop, and it was true he held no compassion for anyone that was going to bring more drama to his life, or trouble to his team, so he wanted to have been there with them all, but he knew his place. He dug into his food as he listened intently.

"Do not trouble jourselves vith me, I am fine," Jasper said giving them both a look that clearly said 'back off'. He had no plans to talk to anyone about his own matters of the heart. True he had been seeking for the chance to find his exotic Goddess that infused his heart and soul with a feeling that anyone could only hope to feel in a lifetime. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched, but are felt in the heart. In his heart, every little detail of her kept him warm at night, and brightened up the dimmest of days. They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that is true. What they don't say is that when it starts again, it moves extra fast to catch up. One moment Jasper had been watching her against the tree outside, and the next three months of denial and heartache had passed and he didn't know where to start or end.
It was something that if he had it in him, Jasper would have loved to voice to Heather to make her feel better about things with Gavin. Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides a decision is to be made. The only thing to do is to work out whether your own roots have become so entwined and tangled together that it is inconceivable against any form of logic that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves that we are. All these things Jasper had learned the past couple of months, through all those sessions of self reflection and meditation with Niki. If forming this love for the girl with the soulful eyes taught him anything, it was the humbling of oneself to submit to this type of potential hurt and potential feeling of finding that missing part of him that was needed to make his life whole.
"Look Heather, vhen it comes to Gavin, jou do deserve better und jou vill get zhat one day. Love is patient like zhat ja? So don't let me see jou be sad no more, jou are too preety for zhat. Und if jou don't, Lurai here vill be threatened to attack him." He winked at the wolf girl and turned his eyes back to Heather. "If jou vant a break, ve can spend zhe day together, but do not dwell on him, okay?" Jasper said looking at her sternly and smiling slightly as he went back to make an honest effort to eat his eggs and not think of the aching in his heart.

Kris had a sparkle in his eye as he flickered through his camera, his lips quivering a little due to how undecisive he was feeling at this moment in time. "Mmmm... I dunno, I quite like this one, but oh- that one's quite nice too, is it not?" He commented, tilting the camera vaguely in Veronika's direction as he tried to wrack through his brain, thinking of the other picture that he liked which were on his camera. "Hmm... no, neither of them are quite doing it for me just yet, mind you, they are still nice pictures, are they not?" Kris allowed himself to smile for a breif second, his eyes glued to his camera screen. "If I dare say so myself, I'm a rather brilliant photographer."
He pulled his camera back with a partially smug look, however he still wasn't satisfied with the things he'd found. He knew there was a better one somewhere... but where? His half-fried sunny side up eggs lay forgotten on half of an english muffin each as he went through the pictures he had on his camera, ever so often passing adorable pictures of Tia, Ana, Veronika and Heather, which he'd taken. All the four girls were absolutely stunning and definitely photogenic, and had it been any other day, Kris would've paused to admire his handy work, but he had work to do right now.
He picked up his glass of Orange Juice, sipping it carefully and setting it back down on the table as he contrinued to browse through the images, before- "OH YES!" He shreiked, almost jumping in his seat. "Oh Veronika, isn't this one here perfect? Sky? Chase? Don't you agree?"

“Lord have mercy, Binchy. Decibels.” Dor put his tray down next to his teammate and rubbed his ears dolefully as he sat down. “You’re at a nine. Ah need you at a three.” There was no heat to his tone, just a sort of slow sleepiness that never really seemed to dissipate from the pokey southerner. Leaning on his elbow Dor glanced around the table of Paragons with deliberate languorousness. They were an… interesting group and he could understand why he had been made a member of the mean green team. They knew how to get things done.
Dor had only listened while Chase had gotten them all worked up over some girl that had, apparently, been messing with the team dynamic. He was too new to fully grasp the seriousness of Frostbite’s crimes or to have anything to say about it but by the time they’d broken for breakfast Dor was just as indignant and out for blood as the rest of them. He didn’t know Veronika or Tia but that someone would attack them… his eyes narrowed as he stared down at his skillet fries. He didn’t know who the other victim was as she hadn’t bothered showing up to the team meeting, but one attack one too many, let alone two separate fits on three separate Paragon girls.
A small grin appeared on Dor’s sleepy face as he took in his team. He had assumed the whole ‘team’ thing was nothing more than the administration’s way of breaking them down into manageable groups, but there was nothing manageable about the Paragons. They were a force, the best and worst of society, and all tightly knit. Dor wasn’t exactly ‘in’ yet, but he could already feel himself being drawn in.
“So what’s the story?” he asked, in his smooth twang. “What set the ice girl off?” Frostbite had been pointed out to him last night at dinner and Dor had only shrugged. There was nothing interesting about the brooding chick except she looked like the world's largest pen had exploded all over her. “And did anyone notice at dinner last night she was… blue? And not blue like Jocelyn, either. More like she should be living under a mushroom and on the look out for cats. Was that our doing or is that just the way she looks?” If it was natural it was clear Frostbite had gotten genetically screwed. He looked around at his team, uncertain if it was one of those things that people just didn’t talk about. He wasn’t exactly to date on mutant etiquette.

"Hey, thanks kid, now you can go back and get somethin for yourself." Chase said taking the tray from reMOVE as he walked up to the table. "Heh, I could get used to havin a little butler around." He nudged his head back 'that-a-way' to the food dispenser and gave Vincent a look that he couldn't refuse. As the kid had to pay his dues anyway Chase was more than happy to start him off at that task and he grinned as he watched him walk back over to get more food.
"Whatta we got here?" he asked as he sat down and looked at the kid's selections. "Oatmeal? Here" he slapped it down in front of Lian and a little burped up into a bubble that popped right before her eyes. "Jello? Green Jello? Well, at least it's green. Here talk to that for me," he clunked the plate of wiggly gelatin down in front of Dor "tell it I hate it MON." There was a heaping plate full of bacon and eggs "Sky, here's round one." He gave it a little toss over to the uber-skinny-mega-tittied wonder of the world. "I'll have the biscuits and gravy with sausage to start. And here Binch, I'll trade ya! Fruit salad?"
With a snide little giggle he swiped the camera from Kris's grasp and left him holding a bowl filled up with fruit salad. "The kid's got a healthy appetite I'll say that much for him. Any luck gettin him to shut up?" He asked calling down the few seats to Kyle. "Oh Hell yea!" Chase said as he looked down at the viewscreen of the camera and saw the picture Hemlock picked. That guy is seriously hot. Daaamn. His head nodding he looked up at Kris and winked "You got a good eye. This is a fantastic shot for any purpose, but I think for what we got in mind it's perfect."
He handed the camera to Sky and looked back to Kris for a second. I might have seriously underestimated Kris here, he's talented and sorta hot in his own right. In the right light, like outside by the pool, he was looking pretty good now that I think of it. He could do with a bit of shuttin the hell up too sometimes, but I got somethin to keep his mouth busy if he gets too chatty. A grin tickled his lips as he thought of the scene, him shutting Kris up. I think I'll have to keep an eye on the Binchy and see what I been missin, but speakin of shuting up, "Kyle? Oh, yeah the thing-yea, it went good. So you uh, said he was chatty, did he ever shut up?"

Tia seated herself on the table opposite the boy with the curly hair and glasses: Hoax. Tia didn't quite know what to make of this new team-mate yet, but she wasn't really paying much mind to that at the moment. She could form an opinion on the boy later. For now she'd simply answer his question for him: after all, he was a team member. He ought to know who he was dealing with on the team and why the rest of the team was so furious with the ice manipulator. "The first time I properly spoke to her, she was crying her eyes out in our Bathroom." Tia said, her voice monotonous, however her face reflecting some form of frustration and sarcasm.
"She had been, in a manner of speaking, dating Diesel from the Acolytes for roughly two days or so, and I think Haven kissed Diesel and he responded. He came clean with Frostbite and apologised to her, however for some strange reason she went rather icy on him," Tia smirked, catching onto the fact that she'd used a pun without meaning to. "and two months down the line, it seemed like she still couldn't get over her two day relationship. So, she decided to side with a Hellion- Rumble, by name, while he tried to burry Diesel and Haven alive and did something I'd rather not speak about over breakfast, with him. I'm sure you get the picture? And, once he was through using her, he simply threw her aside."
Frostbite wasn't someone who Tia was particularly fond of, however, at this moment in time, the young paragon was feeling rather riled up against the Acolyte in Green, as a lot of the team called her. Tempest was normally rather indifferent to people she disliked, but Frostbite... no, she was different. She had struck a certain chord within Tia when she'd tried to attack herself and Veronika, and then also had the nerve to attack the new Paragon, Rhetoric. "After that, you would have expected to hang her head in shame and hide away in her room, right? Well, instead, she decides to ruin a perfectly good cookout, by attempting to attack a few of the Acolytes and Veronika and myself. I can't say I was too pleased."
Tia frowned, taking a bite out of her green salad. "Chase and I took it upon ourselves to teach her a little lesson. Turns out, she can't really face the consequences of the deeds which she has done. She freezed her room to Ice, and damaged a lot of Rhetoric's things and had the nerve to hit her, too." Tia shrugged, a little indifferently, however there was still a flicker of anger dancing somewhere in the back of her brown eyes. "Personally, I think she deserves what she's going to get." Tia shrugged once again, sighing as she placed her fork silently on the table once again. Speaking so much about Frostbite had lost her, her appetite.
"And as far as I'm aware, the blue complection is credited to Rhetoric." Tia'd come across Rheotric the previous night, while she was heading back to her room from the Kitchen after taking out her bottled water from the freezer. She'd stopped to exchange a few words with the new Paragon, about how she was holding up after her confrontation with Frostbite, and Rhetoric had let Tia know rather smugly that the blue complection that Frostbite wore rather horrendously at dinner, was all her doing.
Tia doubted anyone had ever heard her speak this much before, with the exception of Veronika who often had one on one time with Tia. Personally, she felt fairly good having said all of that, considering her bitterness towards Frostbite was made fairly clear with the blunt done that she used throughout her story and the lack of sympathy on her face. "Where d'you think she'll be right now Veronika? The sooner we do this, the better it shall be." Tia shook her head, her hands falling in her lap as her eyes rested on Hoax's face to see his reaction to all of this.

Logan was surprised to see and hear so many kids up and about at such an early hour. Smokers and all huh, nice.. oh lookie a couple of em makin out and I smell blood, oh brother they started early today he thought as he looked in the rec-room as he had tracked the blood scent back to it's point of origin. Six thirty seven shone bright blue on the digital clock on the coffee pot as he grabbed himself a mug full in the kitchen and leaned back against the counter.
Well, his Ferrari was missing and by the smell he had on, Van Alstyne was going somewhere to impress. Too bad I missed em.. Better find Aideen and see what he said to her since I left.. when he gets back I'm gonna do my best not ta skin him alive and feed em his own shitter. He swallowed the piping hot black coffee and felt the scalding of his insides, and the itch of it as they healed. The pain helped him focus and as his tastebuds healed over the flavor of coffee remained. Strong and dark, like his woman, fiery hot and tasty all at the same time. Not that I needed that.. "Ahh" ..but I needed that!
The sounds of the kiddies and their silly little lives danced through the air as he walked into the cafeteria, intent on one thing and one thing only... finding his Angel Eyes. Her scent was faint, like all the scents in a home could be, and intermingled with all the rest. He only picked up on it since he knew it so well, and God how he loved it. It was something he thought he detected a length away from the mansion, but he knew he was just imagining it, he never thought he would ..or ever could.. miss someone so much.
The vision of her face was what had brought him back. Two wheels flying over asphalt at the best speed he could fly. With the construction that always hampered middle of the night travel in the city and then the snare of a morning commute, the entanglement of congestion and the inevitable accident, it was her face he saw in his mind's eye that kept him calm. Her face and the promise of her touch that saved several people who cut him off from getting cut back themselves, in far less metaphorical ways.
Six thirty and where is she? She oughta be in that kitchen having her protein shake. Sumthin aint right. His eyes piercing as they cut around the room, nostrils flairing out as he was unconsciously searching for her scent amongst all those present. Alright so, I thought she might be in here.. thought I smelled her but that ain't really her scent. The only hint of it came from the pale little anarchist, her room mate, and even at that it wasn't a 'live' scent it was just a leftover, hanging onto the kid. He met eyes with her and headed over.
Squaring himself up before the table full of Pete's team he saw the strong kid, paleface's boyfriend, the little blond kid that had been raped in Limbo and some girl he didn't recognize. Now that he thought about it there were quite a few faces and scents that he didn't recognize, but having been so intent on hunting for Aideen's smell he had just flipped past them like so many pages in somebody else's photo album. What the hell's her name again? Oh ..screwit "I need a word with you." He looked right at Haven so there was no mistake who he was talking to and turned to step away, pausing to look back at her. "Now kid," he kept walking back over to the door to the kitchen holding up there for her to join him.

"Oh crap." Niki looked at Ian, then at Maddy and Kevin, then back to Ian. She'd seen the look on Logan's face and he wasn't a happy camper. Not that the man could be considered a happy camper often -if ever- but she'd seen him at his best just the day before in Ember's arms, before her very eyes, in their room. Today was far and removed from the day before and not seeing Aideen come in with him was a very baaaad sign indeed.
She shifted in her seat. Waiting. A moment turned into two, then a half a minute had crept up and still she was frozen there. What happened? Where's Aideen? Oh God no- NO! Anything but that, no don't tell me he got her. Niki's eyes flicked to the doorway where Logan stood as she waited for the figure of her beloved friend to join him there, but Ember did not arrive.
A minute had come and gone, and another had joined it on it's way.
Niki hardly had taken a breath. She didn't want to go to him, to hear the news Logan would have for her said aloud would surely kill her, "..oh god no.." she whispered. She had told her sweet friend to follow her heart and to go after her man and here he was alone ..and she? She was not with him. Niki looked up again into Ian's eyes, her own filling up slightly as the worst possible images came to her mind. She knew what Sabretooth was capable of and she didn't want to go there, but her mind had a will of it's own.
"Ian.. I.." she wanted to tell him then. Tell him everything. To tell of how she was afraid for their friend, of how she'd covered for her, of how she was the one that had given Aideen the strength of her own conviction and sent her off with her own blessings to go out on a mission all by her lonesome... but the words caught in her throat.
