Ian had a big grin on his face. "Oh yea FOOD! Hey Teach, can you make mine a triple cheeseburger with double cheese on each patty? And can you make it a mix of swiss and american? The white one though not the yellow," he said going up to Cyclops with a big grin. He caught the looks others were giving him and shrugged sheepishly with a grin. "What? I built fences all morning and half the afternoon, I think I deserve a knarly giant burger." At the moment, Ian was hungry enough to eat everything on the table, but he paced himself with a generous helping of that amazing potato salad Sky made, because bacon and cheese in a potato salad was genius, and some of that Jambalaya that Gavin was raving about.
"Man I'm starved. It's a good time to eat ya know," he said shoving a big helping of the Potato salad and making the same "MMMmMmmmmmMMMMm" sound that Riker made just a moment ago. "Just had a mini concert by a kick ass guitar dude, and a radical singer chick that knows the classics." Ian winked at K'8 and threw a grin to Sean. "Now lemme try this..." He took a forkful of the jambalaya and his eyes lit up. "Oh... oh man.... This is...." Ian had a look of bliss on his face then, a big fan of spicy food. "Niki babe... your gonna love this. Oh man your gonna flip, here try some," he said offering her a forkful.
He looked over at the the new girl with a huge grin. "That was AMAZING dudette! You got a name? And I totally dig the Clapton shirt man," he said taking another forkful of the Jambalaya. Colossus mentioned that one of the new chicks that came was on their team, and after having this Jambalaya he hoped it was this chick.

"Did I just hear someone say spicy?" Bobby asked coming out with Kitty with a pile of table cloths in his arms and the stereo under his arm. He was kicked out of the kitchen by both Sky and Karma and opted to help Kitty out instead. He got stuck digging out the picnic table cloths out of the storage closets with Kitty, ending in her making a pile of towels fall on his head. "I'm staying away from the spicy foods man, that stuff never sat well with me." He grinned at the look on Niki and Ian's face at that. "Yea, yea I heard it all before, but sue me I can't deal with the spiciness. Keep in mind it is only with food though," Bobby said and placed the bundle in his arms on the bench of the table.
"You know what I want, a nice juicy cheesedog. Hey Scott!" he yelled over to the grill master. "Can you put cheese on two of the hot dogs and melt it for me? Oh and toast a bun too!" Bobby grinned and helped Kitty spread the table cloth on the table, grabbing a bottle of soda to keep the wind from blowing the table cloth away. He was looking forward to the cookout, always having fun with it in the past. He placed the stereo on top of the table and put it on. "To give you a break Gavin, let's here some good stuff." Blink 182 blasted from the radio, not exactly any classics but good enough.
"Say it ain't so, I will not go, Turn the lights on..." Bobby headbanged to the music before moving to the next table to set that one up. In that moment he caught a glimpse of Lorelai and froze for a minute. There was a long pause before he went back to helping Kitty. Bobby wasn't going to push himself on her and give her all the space she needed. He felt so guilty about it all that he didn't even know what to say to her to make it a little bit better. "So uh yea, tell me again why we couldn't just use the new plastic ones Shan bought?" he asked Kitty while grabbing another soda bottle to hold this table cloth down.

Kevin came bounding out of the screen door. Running along into the beautiful spring day in his flip flops and swim trunks with a towel over his shoulder and his hand wrapped in the bandage that Beast had done up for him. He rushed over to spend some time with his girl Veronika and model the suit she had got him. "I LOVE it! It makes me look tough," he started to smile and strut a little and said "but sensutive. Thank you again!" He leened down and kissed her cheek. With a laugh he threw his towel down on the nearest lounge chair and sprayd it out carefuly before laying out to catch a few rays. "Ahh, this is the life huh? Is any body eating or are we all abstanding because red meat is so bad for our sexy selves?" He laughed some more. He was in an exspechully good mood. He had realy enjoyed his workout with Ian and Niki, and the fact that he got so many incuraging complimints was great. He was only in a little bit of pain, but he was being smart about it all and he had even took his time getting changed. "Oh hey Kris," he said seeing him with empty glasses in his hands "I could go for a pop- I mean, uh" he knew he was not trying to get all fat so he said "better a water dont you think?"He slapped his belly, almost with his bad hand but then with his good one to see if he had any fat on himself, and satisfied he was realy lean he grinned back up at his freind. He did'nt want to get all into anything about weight though with Cluch sitting near because he knew how Kitty had forced foods on her. "Could you bring me one please, if it's not to much trouble. Must keep my figure dontcha know. Thanks." He wanted a pop badly but he was hoping to put it out of his mind. It was just a crazy craving. He decided to put his mind on other things and found him self wondering if Ian had noticed Niki's face yet or if she had put some coverup on it. He realy did'nt want to explane to his buddy why he punched his girls face, that was going to be bad. He decided to think of the soda pop again, it was just less upsetting.

Maddy had to smile at how the two guys liked her food, even giggled at Gavin's reaction, because how could she not. He looked so funny when he tasted the food that even a small giggle escaped from her mouth, particularly when Ian had that look of bliss on his face that looked almost comical. "Ah'm glad ta see ya'll like it. Mah name is Madeline, yah can call me Maddy if yah want, it seems dat everyone calls me that," she said with a smile at the two of them, proud that they liked her jambalaya that much. For a while she was worried that no one was all that into spicy food here and she'd end up being the only one who tried her cooking, but it felt good that her cooking was appreciated.
"Ah thank yah kindly for yer sweet words on mah cooking. It's really nice ta know that there are spicy food lovers here." Maddy helped herself to a plate of her own Jambalaya and some of those chips that looked almost homemade. "Mah, Mah these are really somethin'. They don't have potato chips like this back at home," she said after having a bite of the chips and then mixing them in with her jambalaya. "Ah gotta agree with yah though Ian, we had some nice live music that goes perfect with a cookout. Yah can play that guitar like no one else there Gavin. An' some voice, wow. Yah an' that bebe over there with the impressive lookin' hair oughta do a duet." Maddy grinned and clicked her tongue ring to the back of her teeth, a habit developed whenever she was a bit nervous. "Ah can't play anythin' ta save mah life, but hey Ah can at least appreciate others makin' some sweet music."
Taking a bite of the new concoction of chips and her jambalaya, she nodded her head in approval. "Mmmm it IS good. Ah am glad it came out so well. Oh and..." Maddy turned her head to look at Gavin. "We may be on the same level wit Muddy and Hendrix, but Ah can't call yah a musical soulmate in good faith unless yah a fan o' Little Walter and the Balfa Brothers. Oh an' o' course, Led Zeppelin an' Mr. Carlos Santana," She said grinning at him with a raised eyebrow. "So what's the verdict Rockstar? Ah got a musical soulmate or what?"

"Ready?" Chester said to Jenny as he stood on the 'mound'. After coming back from the grocery store and helping as best they could to unpack the bags, until the older kids came in from their chores to start cooking, the Alphas looked bored as sin. Chester had rounded them all up and told Chopper to go and get the kickball. The sport was fun for all and used the same rules as baseball so anybody could play.
The score was tied up right now but the 'girls' were only just getting warmed up. It had started out as girls vs. boys but since Jenny wanted Kurt to be on her team so badly he switched with Rogue. So the teams stood as Tori, Lily, Jenny, Emma, and Kurt versus Chester, Austin, Chopper, Jasper and Rogue, but the game was a join if you want kind of thing so anyone was welcome.
Chester stood there trying very hard to size up the tiny little limbs of the blond country girl. She had already lined out into the outfield on her first time up. It was heartbreaking when Rogue had caught it but it was all a part of the game, and a metaphor for life some might go so far as to say. Chester wouldn't have though. Not because he hardly spoke or even, as some might mistakenly think, because he didn't know what a metaphor was but because he didn't like to put so much pressure on a game to be anything more than it was.
It was that part of his nature, probably more than any other, which was why the kids liked him so easily. For him, because he never expected them to be anything but themselves, it was always a great time when he would be around the Alpha kids. The contrast with his own life, his own childhood, made for a release of many a dark memory for him and Chester was more than grateful to all of the little ones for letting him be a part of their world. With a wide toothy grin he let the ball go, straight down the way to home plate and the waiting kick of 'little bigfoot', with hardly a spin on it at all.

"Here you go Veronika darling! One sparkling water with a lemon wedge, aaaand... uh... here's your water Kevin." Kris handed both his friends their drinks and moved a bit to stand besides Ana, throwing flickering glances at Kevin's topless torso. Oh my, mmmm.... he looks yummy, he does. Kris's eyes flickered elsewhere for a moment before Ana's words made his eyes hunt for a certain blue haired girl.
"Oooooooohhh!" Kris's jaw dropped for a moment, and he turned his head away from his new team-mate to look at Ana. "I can't believe she's here! Oh jesus! I wouldn't turn up if I was her!" Kris looked a teensie but concerned as he threw another glance in Frostbite's direction. "Tia darling, did you speak to her?" he added looking over at the little dark haired 'apparent' friend of Frostbite's. "Oh my goodness! If RUMBLE comes..." A shiver ran down Kris's spine at the possibility.
Sure, it would be extremely entertaining to watch for the gossip duo, but he knew nothing good would come off it. Just a whole load of drama, and he didn't want the cook-out to be ruined by some major chaos. It wasn't often he got to see Kevin topless for crying out loud! He wanted this thing to last.
"Oooohh my! Ana, Ana!" Kris yelped, as he remembered something else- "Has Veronika seen the new girl yet... the... one from the stables?" He shuddered at the thought. Green... green... GREEN?! He looked over at Kevin, trying to replace the disasterous image from his mind with the hottie that stood in front of him.

Niki smiled at the flirting taking place. It was so obviously flirting that she almost laughed as she took the bite of jambalaya offered to her. "MMmm that is pretty good, oh I gotta get a little plate of that." She watched the 'show' of their songbird teammate and this new arrival as they flirted back and forth. It was like a beacon of flirtation, so obvious in it's obvious-less-ness that it made her almost proud of the new girl.
"Where ya from? Sounds like you're a washout from Katrina, but ya never know around here." Niki said cutting in on the whole flirt session. If the girl really did have game she would be able to talk to others and not miss a beat with Gavin. Haven had to test her, it was her way. "People put on some weird accents sometimes. Hell, there's even some chick here who likes to talk like she's a pirate."
Sitting next to Ian she winked at him and raised an eyebrow. She wanted to see if he caught the flirt session too, but with a plate of food in front of him the chances were slim. "So, what's this a family recipe? It's good chika, I'm impressed and you can ask around... it takes a lot to impress me. Name's Niki, so you uh, know what team you're on yet?" She wondered where Ms. Frost had placed this one, and why the Acolytes never got cool people like her.

"No." Tia said looking over at Frosty, but not letting her eyes linger for too long. "Im not going to push her." It was true. Even though Tia was a bit worried about her friend, she didn't want to be a pile-on. Whenever Frosty was ready to speak, she could always come and talk to Tia. They shared a bathroom- it wasn't like they weren't going to see each other. Might speak to her tonight, she thought but shrugged it off.
She didn't want to put too much thought into it- it would just spoil her mood. It was good weather, everyone was enjoying themselves - well mostly everyone - and Tia liked this sort of atmosphere. It made her happy.
"D'you mean that one?" Tia asked, inclining her head towards the girl with short red hair, who was conversing with StormHawk. She wasn't really all that interested in the girl to be honest, but she was keen on getting the topic changed. "What's so bad about her?" Tia inserted, raising in eyebrow, finding nothing particularly disturbing about the girl's appearance. Kris' reaction seemed a bit... exaggerated. But then again, his reactions were always too exaggerated in Tia's opinion. She lifted the watermelon juice that was in her hand and lifted it up to her lips taking a sip from the straw.

Jenny smiled at Stoney briefly before her little face screwed up into a look of concentration, her little pink tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth as her eyes were trained on the ball. "Eeerrr UHH!" she grunted while her little foot kicked out and kicked the ball. It was a low kick and it made the ball skim across the grass.
The look of concentration was still on her face as Jenny shot forward and ran for first base as fast as her little legs allowed. "Run Lily RUN!" she yelled to her friend who was already on first base that Jasper was guarding. She wasn't gonna let herself be beaten by Chopper's team!
With a jump, Jenny jumped forward and slid to first base, closing her eyes as she slid across in a cloud of dirt, till she was practically on top of first base. "Am I in? *cough, cough*" Jenny coughed from all the dirt and sat up on the plate, rubbing the dirt from eyes.

" Who wants corn!" Donna yelled as she carried out a large tray of sauce coated corn on the cob. The sauce it was coated in smelled awesome, but she was under strict rules to take it to Barbecue without even so much as thinking about tasting it. Meanies. After tying her hair back into a high ponytail, wearing a red top instead of her cardie and changing her wellies for a pair of bright orange high tops with blue laces, she felt more settled. It was a new experience sharing a room with someone, even just in thought. Never the less, Donna was sure that Maddy would be a fine roomie and not like one of the slobs that she prayed would be an avoidance. Looking around the gang a twang of nervousness hit her, she didn't know who to go to. Her mind was wiped clean at the sheer closeness of the groups. In a way she had the prominent feeling of embarrassment over being a new girl. Way back in her mind she knew that showing you where scared was a bad plan for anything, so she would give it a shot. "Hey, Who do I have to give this to? Who wants charge of the corn?" She yelled again, going somewhat closer to the adults than the other kids. From her short meeting of students at the barn and the occasional 'hey' from the lot in the kitchen Donna felt a little out of her depth. Kate and Maddie where cool, but the sheer diversity of kids looked a little frightening. 'Oh well, no point worrying over what can't be changed. The more people I talk to the better. C'mon Don, where's that brave girl who could take seven barrel rolls in her dads fighter jet!' She mentally scolded herself and walked with a skip in her step over to the men. "You want this? I don't know what ta do with it." She shrugged quickly.

Ricki popped up behind Niki, she'd left Dante just a couple of seconds from Sky's side to give him a bit of a break from her and annoy her team for a while instead. She'd pointed out that he could always just join her with her team as well, but she didn't know if he'd want to "Niki?! Impressed?!" Ricki said the words as if it was probably the most outrageous thing she'd ever heard. "No way!" she grinned at Niki, before her eyes moved over to the object of appreciation at this moment. "Oh hey! Another new person? I swear we're getting so many! It's cool though, and oh my god I love your top!"
She shifted her attention from the new girl with cool red hair and the awesome t-shirt, to acknowledge the others around them. "Heyyy Ian! Sean... Kate!" she greeted, moving a bit to the song that was playing. Ricki's ever-so-cheery smile was stuck to her face- it would probably start annoying people soon enough. "I'm Ricki by the way- Codename Taffy."
She shifted away from Niki's side and went over to stand besides Gavin instead, poking the guy's arm and messing his hair up 'cause she just had to. "And I'm on the same team as this hot rockstar - and Niki - and Ian. I'd be careful though, he has a thing for manhandling us innocent girls." She stuck her tongue out at Gavin, giggling and nudging him a little. "Heeeey! Aren't you gonna play your guitar? I haven't heard you singing all day! I might just faint or somet- oh my god! who's the new girl?!" Ricki's eyes widened as she took in the green-ness of the hair.
"No... not you- red haired cool person... the green haired one. Oh wow." That was so cool! It was unusual yeah- but different was good. Same old brown red and blonde got a bit boring at times. "When did she come?! Oh my god I love her hair! It's so funky!" She stared at the girl for a couple of moments, before she turned back to look at the people she was standing with, her eyes curious. "Gosh, we really are getting so many new peeps! Ah this is coool..." she trailed off. "Oh, where's Ivy at? Is she helping out? Hmm... and Leah." Ricki craned her neck a bit to get a better look around to see if she could spot the two girls.

The grin on Jasper's face was unmistakable as he watched Jenny kick off and run. It was just enough to melt his heart that when the ball was thrown to him, he made it look like it just bounced off his hand and to the ground as she slid to first base, practically covering it anyways. He laughed and picked up the ball. "Jou are safe leetle Jenny, very safe," he said with a laugh and threw the ball back to Stoney.
Kneeling down, he offered his hand to the little blonde girl to help her on her feet. "Zhat was a very good play leetle Miss," he said helping her brush the dirt off her shoulders. "Get ready, jou will have to run VERY fast for second. Austin iz playing it, und he iz fast too," Jasper warned her while getting ready for the next kick.
It was a great feeling just to be able to participate in a game again. Before with his wings, he wasn't able to move around all that much, and it made it impossible for him to play games such as this. Now he was running and playing just as much as everyone else, and for once Jasper could truly say he didn't take it for granted. So far he had been running and getting really into the game like he had not been able to in months, missing out on snowball fights, football games, and even tennis games. Not to mention the fact that he was wearing his old clothes again, running around in his old wifebeaters and jeans without a care in the world, just happy to be able to do it. "Batter up! Iz that how jou say?" Jasper asked Jenny to make her smile.

Sky rolled her eyes and pushed him off her. "Do I look slow to you? Beast is too caught up in the food to pay attention and Sergent Psycho Hardass got kicked off campus this weekend. They're the only ones we have to worry about," she said sitting up and giving him a clean and firm punch in the arm. "That's for thinking I'm an amateur you ass." She stood up from the table and gave her best friend a hand up. Sky stuck her tongue out at him and looked over to see everyone devouring her potato salad.
"It's okay Ian, Riker you don't gotta hold back, I made an extra bowl inside," she said with a laugh and looked towards the kitchen. "Speaking of which, I need to get back in there. If my steak and mushrooms have been touched, I'm ripping someone a new asshole." Sky used that moment to run back inside. "Chase wanna come be a taste tester?" she yelled over to him before slamming the door to the kitchen and running over to her food. She planned to eat it, and it damn well better taste good. Sky may be a big eater, but she wasn't going to eat anything that tasted anything less than DELICIOUS!

Edging out of Sky and Chase's way just in time, Heather exhaled a long breath after realizing she didn't bump into any of them or vice versa. She came in through the kitchen rather than straight out to the cookout because the smell was too incredible to pass up and she wanted to see if her help was needed in any way. Heather always liked helping people, it was how she was raised. But everything seemed to be outside already and the kitchen was too busy for anyone to tell her what they needed help with. Stepping outside, Heather smiled at the fact that everyone was there... well mostly everyone. She really didn't want to see the Hellions and if they did decide to show up, she hoped that Rumble wouldn't be one of them. She immediately thought of Lorelai and scoped the crowd to see if she even came. Seeing that she did made Heather smiled wider and nod her head with satisfaction. She planned to talk to her later on during the cookout since now it looked like the ice girl needed her own space. But Heather made sure that she would hang out with her at least for a couple of minutes. She understood that being here was a big step since that morning. Everyone knew and that was just mortifying to Lorelai. Heather and K'8 did all they could to calm her down and help her face her problem. But after they left, it was all up to Lorelai to not let it get to her. She needed to get over what happened to her on her own terms and Heather understood that. Walking over to her usual group of friends, Heather smiled warmly at Veronika and the rest of the group. She looked great in her new blue and gold swimsuit that Veronika was so gracious to buy. She felt incredibly comfortable in it and looked great, which was all she could ask for. Her confidence in herself and outer appearance had definitely increased since she spoke with Veronika's mother. Instead of it being "new" it was just there and better than ever. She gave all of her friends kisses and blew the last once to the farthest from her as she placed her bag onto the seat closest available to Veronika. "How is everyone" she asked warmly. The mix of music and smells from food that surrounded them, would make anyone be in a good mood. Seeing the faces on everyone though, made her look in their direction. She sighed and smirked while shaking her head. Of course Donna's hair would cause raised eyebrows. She decided to sit down and get comfortable in her lounge chair before anything else. She spotted Gavin in a group and waited for him to catch her eye. She waved and blew him a kiss, happy to see him even though their earlier battle in the stables was at a halt. Giving up wasn't her plan that day and there was still time to get him back, especially at the cookout. Smirking at the thought she winked at him and then finished what she was originally doing. "Who is the other new girl?" she asked her group as she put on a small amount of suntan lotion. She noticed the red haired girl and Gavin having an engaging conversation and was curious as to who she was.

The only time Veronika tore her eyes away from the abomination with the green hair and the street trash talking up Gavin to glance at Heather. "That new girl? You mean the one flirting with your boyfriend and looks like she belongs in a dirty halfway house or the one with fungus growing in her hair?" she said in an appalled voice still low enough for only the peopleand took a sip of her sparkling water, looking over at Kris and Ana in disbelief. "Really? You two knew about this and didn't tell me? I had to wait until I see that sad excuse for a human walk about screaming about corn like a lunatic. That is not a pleasant way to spend a cookout." Veronika turned around and sat up, looking away from the girls and at the others.
Her voice was low enough for anyone outside their group to have no idea what was said, but everyone in the group could hear her. "This is just... well not a good thing to see." She began giggling and tossed her hair over her shoulder to look at the new girls again before letting her eyes slide over to Frostbite. "How funny would it be for all three of those girls to become their own little group? They would be like a bag of Skittles," Veronika said when she turned back to her group and erupted in giggles. The idea was just too funny.
Her glance went to Heather and her eyebrows rose up. "And you darling are just going to sit here with us while that skank makes herself comfortable with your beau? Come now." She took another sip of her sparkling water and smiled at Kris, blowing him a kiss of thank you. "I taught you better than that Heather. Street sluts and fat skanks are a dime a dozen, as you see," Veronika said glancing back at the new girl who conveniently was right near Haven. "To keep a beau from getting lost in that world, you keep him interested in yours. Right Kevin?" She looked at him adoringly and winked at him. She knew what to say to keep her tight group of friends.
