"YES YES SAFE SAFE!" she jumped up and down over and over again. Playing kickball was a lot of fun in Torri's opinion and no matter what age you were, it could always be enjoyed. Looking at Jenny quickly before dodging her eyes to Kurt and Rogue, Torri stopped jumping and then did a final leap. "YEAH! Great job Jenny. Lily you ran so fast!! Keep up the good work guys!" She was encouraging her team as best as possible since she did like winning. Being the best wasn't something Torri lived by and she wasn't a very competitive person. However it was fun to see her team of girls actually beat up the guys. It was silly to see Kurt being one of the girl though, she giggled a bit before realizing it was her turn to step up to the "plate".
The cookout looked like it was doing well, and Torri had a bit of happiness nudge inside her when she saw that she did well getting all the things on the list that Karma provided her. Thanks to her and the rest of her teammates, everyone in the school was able to enjoy a great meal. Looking at Emma and Kurt, she took a deep breath and rubbed her hands together. Time to give us a home run, she thought with a determined look. She wanted her team to be proud of her since she wasn't able to do that for the Acolytes. Torri got over the fact that they believed her to be a baby. She came into terms with that and understood where her former team was coming from. Karma was able to help her understand that as well since Torri didn't take it well at the beginning. But now, Torri was growing into a new person who didn't take things so dramatically and was starting to grow up into a young woman. Taking her stance by the "plate", Torri bent her knees and readied herself for the pitch.

Popping her gum, Rogue adjusted her baseball hat and clapped her hands. "Alright," she said to her team. "Nice try on that last play Jasper but we are gettin' our butts kicked. Chopper stop teasin' Lily and get intuh the game!" Making sure her voice was clear, Rogue smiled at how adorable the young ones were. She didn't really remember what she was like at that age and just enjoyed the happy memories that she did have. Winking to Austin at third base, she made sure that he was paying attention so they could at least stop Lily from getting closer to home. "Ya ready Chester?" she asked before preparing her stance in order to catch the kickball. "Let's go boys, look alive look alive!" she said to her team. She didn't want her boys to start whining that they lost because they decided to slack off. Getting their adrenaline up plus motivation always brought good team work.
The food from the cookout was a lot. So much so that the smell of meat and vegetables were able to be smelled out on the "field". "Mmmmm MMM," Rogue said without hesitation. "Oh Ah don't know about you fellahs but that cookin' sure smells good. Ah think Ah even smell some jambalaya too." That made her stomach turn over, since she was always one to never turn down jambalaya. "Ah think we should do a break after this inning what do you think Kurt? After we all eat, we wait a bit and then continue this game," she recommended. She still got herself ready in Short Stop in order to toss the ball to Austin in case Torri kicked it right to her.

"Because that's being wasteful, and these are perfectly fine table cloths," Kitty said smoothing out the last one. "What's wrong Bobby, was putting out table cloths just too hard for you? Did I make you break a nail? Really Bobby, my heart breaks for you." She made a pouty little face at him just to bother him a little. That's how the two of them worked, they bugged each other like brother and sister and it was as ruthless as if they really were related. "Look see, we're all done!" Kitty said standing back to inspect all the tables that had a plastic table cloths on them. "Looks pretty good I got to say."
She looked over at Bobby and saw the look on his face that made her roll her eyes and laugh. "Ok, ok fine, go join the game. I'll be there in a minute," Kitty said with a laugh and watched as Bobby ran off like a kid to go join the game. Meanwhile Kitty turned to the group by the table and smiled brightly at the sight of her new green haired team member. "Hey there, Donna right?" she called coming up to her with a sweet smile. "Hey I'm Kitty, team leader of the New Mutants! Welcome to the team!" She shook the girl's hand with a sweet smile. "I know it's gonna be weird the first couple of days, but it gets easier. This bunch isn't as scary as they look," Kitty said with a laugh.
"Riker come here for a minute!" she called to her Alpha wolf and waved him over. "This is a new member of our little pack, Donna. Donna this is Riker, sort of the leader of our little pack." She swung an arm over him just to loosen the atmosphere. Kitty knew him well enough to know that he didn't take to new people well. "You see, we run our team like a wolf pack you can say. Everyone has their duty and we all pull the weight. Riker here can explain it better than me." She gave him a slight nudge to get him talking and the look on her face was enough to let him know to be nice.

"Ahh you crack me up! You just vant to take a break because ve are rallying." Kurt smiled wide and clapped for his team. "Come on ladies ve got zhem now. Did you hear zhat? It vas fear in her voice, JA." He laughed as he pointed to Rogue and taunted her playfully from his spot on the sidelines.
"I can really smell zhe sizzle zhough, ja!" He called out loudly to his team "Can you smell zhat sizzle? It must be us because ve are on FIRE! WOO!!" Kurt was having such a good time. He had been cheering so much for the girls and he was excited for the new feeling of family that he could already feel bubbling up and through everyone. Then he settled as on the mound Stoney went into his wind-up.
The look on Chester's face as he sent the ball skittering in and the hollow sound the ball made as it careened off of Torri's foot got him to jumping as he screamed encouragement to the little ones. "Go Go GOooo little liebshen. RUUuun! Oh- oh no- look out Lily!!" He saw the play as it was unfolding and winced at the sight. "Oh Emma I cannot look" he said as he went to shield his eyes, but even as things were not looking good for the tiny winged runner it was simply too adorable not to watch.

Kat moved silently and quickly with a smirk on her face towards Riker and Kitty. She had been with him before the cookout started, but she had sneaked away for a moment, just to play around with him, like the sort of cat and mouse game they liked to play. However, since he was standing there to meet a peculiar looking green haired girl she caught was a new teammate of his, she couldn't resist popping up then and there.
She swayed in her drunken way as she moved, coming up soundlessly behind the wolfman and teacher as her smirk deepened. With a flash of pale white skin, one hand went down to Riker's tail and gently took it, running it down slowly as she tightened her grip just enough for him to be able to feel that surprising sensation of having it touched. Her Cheshire cat grin came on as she stepped to his free side and tilted her head curiously at the new girl, one eyebrow twitching upward and then down as she decided what her special nickname from her would be.
"Why hello there, Kitty, and Donna, nay I'll be callin' ye Doublemint from now on," she said with a nod to herself, committing it to memory along with all the other names she had for everyone else. "Riker here be quite an animal, believe ye me, but I seen the way his team o' kooks work, and kooks they be cause I say so, but what do I know eh? I be a Paragon not a New Mutant," she said with a careless shrug before she turned to grin at Riker. "Go on mate, tell her how it be workin' and what mayhaps fall down if it don't," she said with a slightly amused pucker of a smirk as she brushed her hand near his rear as if it were an accident while she referred to how she had seen the odd button's angry friend with Riker.

"Alright -COME 'n GET IT!! Cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, Hamburger, hamburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, hamburger, HOT DOG!" Cyclops called out as he slid the meat from the grill onto the buns and onto a huge metal tray for the children to come and grab as they desired. "Cheesedog, hotdog, cheesedog, hotdog. OKAAay! I got space for that corn right here now. Hey can you bring that on over, yes YOU, if you can carry it?" he said to the nearest empty handed kid as he started slapping a few more patties down on the grill and sliding the last few hotdogs over to make space.
"Oh man I reminded myself of that old Belushi skit from Saturday Night Live, remember that one Hank?" Scott said chuckling. "No coke -PEPSI!" He said in the Greek immigrant accent that they used on the TV program as he looked at his old friend's face and shook his head. Back then they were just kids like the lot milling around grabbing hot charred meat and laughing as they ran. "Man the years fly by. Careful, kids that stuff is hot!" he said getting distracted from his stroll down memory lane so caution them all. Knowing at least that the scalded roof of Ian's mouth would heal in mere minutes. "BOBBY! Your cheesedogs are up!"

Lian was quite hungry after her short Yoga workout. It was only for about 30 minutes and today was her first session. After the "punishment" at the stables, Lian decided to take Nightcrawler's advice and try to channel her aggression in an alternate way than yelling all the time. Yoga was his recommendation. And even thought she knew Sky and Chase would make so much fun of her, she didn't care. It surprisingly was relaxing and she was able to somewhat suppress her anger about anything and everything for that brief half hour.
Now that the cookout had started, a nice shower and changing into her swimsuit made her approach the event with optimism. Hearing Cyclops, she brought him the corn and made sure to get herself first online. She was hungry and made sure she would get the best food to satisfy her stomach. "Here ya go boss," she said while handing him the corn. She quickly grabbed a paper plate and asked for a hot dog, cheeseburger and a cheesedog. Her stomach could handle anything and she planned to take advantage of that.
After getting her food, she joined the group with Ian, Haven, Gavin and the rest of them. Another new girl was there and Lian rolled her eyes. Damn it how many f@#kin' mutants are coming here? she thought bitterly. She understood that many kids like her needed a haven and the Xavier School existed just for that. However it was a bit annoying meeting a new arrival ever single day. But that was just Lian picking a fight about anything, like she normally did. "Sup f@#kers?" she asked while biting into her cheese dog. It was really hot as she bit into it and she made a "sssssssssssssss" sound to make the food less hot. A long string of cheese hung between her mouth and the cheese dog and she bit it harder so the cord would cut. "freaking hot! Ahhhhhhh sssssssssssssss.... ahhhhhhhhhhh ssssssssssss." She laughed a bit at her Family Guy reference and then continued to enjoy her food.

Austin waved his hands madly in the air- the girls could not win! Nuh uh! They were too icky! "GIMME THE BALL! THROW! HERE! THROWW ITT!" he screamed jumping up and down, only too ready to catch the ball if it came his way. Baseball was something Austin absolutely loved. Probably not more than he loved Chocolate and Superman- but he still loved it! He was very good at the game too, and he enjoyed playing it a lot. He continued jumping, wanting to get Lily out. C'mooooooon! HURRYYYYY... OH WAIT! YAY! THE BALLS COMING! Now that the ball was on it's way, Austin was sure he could catch it and get this icky girl out. He had to. He couldn't loose to some girl with cooties and PINK hair! Austin shuddered at the possibilty of the thought, but quickly turned his attention to the ball that was flying super-fast towards him. He started running backwards so he would be in a better position to catch it. The ball came down with a lot of force, and Austin stumbled a little trying to catch it, but he didn't fall. As soon as the ball was in his arms, he ran as fast as he could towards the home base, determined to get the icky pinky girly out, his eyes were set on the home base, he had to get there before her and tag her! But as he ran, a transparent white ripply thing appeared in front of him, and unable to control his speed he ran right into it- Austin appeared near the cool Icedude, his eyes wide in their sockets as the ripple thingi disappeared. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! THIS CAN NOT BE HAPPENING!!!!! Austin huffed, he wouldn't let the icky girls win! He threw the ball in pinky girly's direction, his aim fairly accurate, but he didn't know for sure if the ball would hit the girl or not. He watched in anxiety as the ball tossed through the air, heading towards pinky.

With a grin, Gavin took a couple of cheetos from the bag and threw a handful of them at Ricki. "You can just ignore her. She's just an annoying ball of rubber that never shuts up," he said sticking his tongue out at Ricki. "We just keep her around cause she's better than a super bounce ball." He had to grin at Ricki before setting his plate down and looking over at Madeline with a grin. "My babe, she don't stand no cheatin', my babe. Opoooh yeaaa she don't stand no cheatin' my babe..." Gavin sang moving his head and shoulders to the classic song and snapping his fingers, started by Little Walter himself, and later taken by Elvis. "OOoooOhhhh Yeaaaaa she don't stand no cheatin', she don't take none of that midnight creepin', my babe." He brought his head a little closer to Madeline's, excited that there was someone else who liked the same stuff he did.
"My babe, I know she love me, my babe. Ooooohhhhh yeeeeess, I know she love me, my babe." Gavin spun slightly and leaned into Niki, winking at her. "OOOOOOoooohhh yes, I know she love me. She don't do nothin' but kiss and hug me." His fingers snapped to the beat while he turned back and leaned toward Madeline."My babe, true little baby, my babe." He grinned widely at her and bowed down. "I think, that I have found my musical soulmate. We oughta make it official and skip and be bestest friends," Gavin said with a silly face and laughed again. He was psyched that there was someone here that actually knew music, and not just the kind from today, but the classics and thats what it was all about.
He went up and grabbed a cheeseburger and hamburger from the big plate by the grill. "Hey thanks Cyclops, these look awesome!" Gavin said to the Headmaster with a big grin and brought the plate over to Madeline, holding it out like a waiter and bowing to her. "As a token of being newfound musical soulmates, please accept a burger on my behalf, ladies choice. Besides," He lifted his bowed head up and grinned at her. "You didn't make Niki over there hiss in disgust. That deserves a metal, not just a burger," Gavin teased looking over at Niki with a grin.

Ana had burst into giggles when Veronika made her comments on the new girls. "You not even need the three of them, just take the one with mucus colored hair. Look at her clothes! She looks like a clown exploded on her!" She said looking at Tia and Veronika before bursting into giggles all over again. Despite Veronika's shock and disgust, Ana thought this was all hilarious, the travesty of it all just making her laugh all the more.
"Oh Tia, you should not worry yourself because that blue haired skank cannot keep legs closed." Ana took another sip of the detox concoction as a big breeze blew by them, getting her hair in her eyes. "Really, I always said she has some problems. Tell me why she have no friends? Except you Kevin, who I always say are far too sweet for her. But look at everyone, they all have friends, even the bigger losers have friends. Even those who barely speak at all to anyone have friends or a group of people. Look at Haven, she was most hated in beginning and now have friends. Even Ember, who talk to no one have a group of friends. Katana even have friends, and she has more problems than a arithmetic book," Ana said with another round of giggles and moving her chair to sit up. "Frostbite have big problems, she must to be where she is."
Ana was so tickled with the problems of others. She wasn't stupid enough to get herself in stupid situations, and she took extra delight in exploiting those who did. "Oh my, but look at that. I think you may have trouble Heather darling, just look at how the hobo is charming your beau. And he is not moving away at all! He not even look at you!" She turned to look at Heather with a raised eyebrow. "Please do not say you will just sit and do nothing about it. It not smart," Ana said taking another sip and looking over at Tia. "Please take notes Tia on what NOT to do when you get a boyfriend." She glanced back at Heather and raised her eyebrows, almost like issuing a challenge.

"Well this is a really nice token, Ah am flattered an' honored ta discover mah musical soulmate. Merci Beaucoup," Maddy said with a laugh taking the hamburger and putting some of the trimmings on top. She had to smile at that little performance, and even a tint of red on her cheeks at Gavin's voice and just the way he sang. "Ah was told Ah'm on the Acolytes. An' yes it is a family recipe. Mah mame taught me how ta cook, an' Ah love spicy food," she said with smile while dosing her burger in hot sauce and adding chili peppers on top.
"An' Ah ain't no washout from Katrina, but Ah am a dropout from Baton Rouge! Ah'm tellin' ya, after dat storm hit, yah couldn' find anythin' on the shelves anywhere for months at a time. Ah'm glad things are gettin' ta normal. It's nice ta walk inta a store an' be able ta have a choice in shampoo again!" Maddy shook her head with a slight shudder. Baton Rouge felt the bare minimum effect on their town, but for months after all the supplies for their town went to New Orleans and many town folk housed the refugees.
"MMmmmMMm! C'est magnifique!" she said after taking a bite of the burger. "Ah really do love mah spicy food. Mah mame, she is one helluva cook. Makes the best damn Cajun food any o' yah'll will eva' taste. She taught me all o' it!" Her light green eyes lit up as she thought of the food back home. "Ah can make the best Cajun Crawfish Casserole any o' yah'll will eva' have. An' Ah make one mean Cherry Bread Pudding, an' a Rum sauce ta go with it. One bite o' it, an' Ah promise it'll be a taste o' heaven right dere," Maddy said smiling after taking another bite. "Pardon me if Ah talk too much. Spicy hot food an' Little Walter right afte' Les Paul got an effect on me." She winked at Gavin and raised her burger to his as a toast of a sort.

She tried not to make eye contact with anyone because she didn't want to see what their faces looked like when they looked at her. Lorelai just tried to look down at the grass whenever she could feel the judging and cruel stare of whoever chose to notice that she decided to show her face. She could only imagine what they were saying, but she didn't want to know for sure. It only reminded her that everyone knew her business, and it made her regret even coming down. At the moment, she thought it would've been better to just starve rather than be dumb enough to come down here with the rest of the school hanging around and being a tiny bug being shone on with a magnifying glass to burn. It may not have been like that since they seemed to just be talking amongst themselves, but it felt like it may as well have been like it. She knew people looked at her, but she wouldn't look at them. No, making eye contact would only hinder her agenda.
She sniffed the air almost bitterly as she limited her sights to the few people that mattered to her. There was no reason to look at anyone else; what did they matter? They were only there to judge and gossip, and they weren't any friend to her like that. There was a new girl, she noticed, but Lorelai didn't want to get up and try talking to her. She could only imagine what she'd hear whenever they got to the topic of the weird blue haired girl sitting by herself with a plate of food and spread her business just a little bit more. Her eyebrows knit together slightly as she nibbled at a couple pieces of cold cuts, her eyes drifting to Bobby to see if an opportunity showed itself yet.
She sighed to herself quietly and stared at the ground again. No opportunity yet. She didn't want to get up and walk over specifically to him and be seen just doing something that would be enough of a spectacle for everyone to watch. 'What's she gonna do now? Iceman should know better than to deal with her, he can do better.' I bet that's what they'd think if I approached him so far away right now. What stupid thing will she do next? she thought to herself in a mock game show host's voice as she looked away from Bobby playing kickball with the others who were playing. I hope he comes closer...please please...I kinda don't wanna stray too far from here. I don't need to be the center of attention if I get the chance to talk to him, she thought as looked at the food on her plate. She could smell the grilled food, and oh it smelled so good, but she felt as if as soon as she moved to get a burger or a hot dog everyone would watch with their horrid stares. Lorelai regretted coming down, but it would look even worse if she were to leave, especially to leave unresolved.

"Ah they don't make comedy like they used to do they?" Hank said with a laugh remembering all of them getting together those rare free Saturday nights they had when they were younger to watch SNL, laugh and throw popcorn at each other. They haven't done that in years, but then again so much had changed in that time. The comradeship formed then was ever present as it was now, and even stronger now that tested against the strength of time.
"You'll have to make another cheesedog Scott, it seems Ms. Au-Yong fancies them and is under the impression her name is Bobby," he said teasing slightly and chuckling under her breath. "I on the other hand, will go inside and see if I can wrestle some more of that meat for you to grill. Just as I left, Shan and Sky were putting the finishing touches on the steaks. Shan bought those expensive aged steaks, so we are in for a treat! And the sauce that Sky made to marinate them in smells divine. Pardon me for a moment, I'll be just a minute... hopefully." Hank chuckled and made way for the kitchen.
Not a minute later, he came out with a long tray of pita bread pizzas ready for the grill. "This is the only thing I was allowed to bring out. Sky gave instructions to turn the pitas counter clockwise once every five minutes, and when the cheese on top bubbles the pizza is finished," Hank said chuckling at the yelling that came when he had tried to grab the steaks. "Shan said she'd bring the steaks herself and to prepare yourself to share the grill." He raised his eyebrows and chuckled under his breath. "I must say, these pita pizzas look rather good. I think I will put in a request for one," Hank said looking at the peculiar little pizzas.

A slight growl left Riker and he reached behind him to pinch her side with his claws. "Ye behave yerself ye bloody feline," he growled out playfully before looking at the new girl, pausing for a long moment to study her. She looked fit enough for her to have no complaint on pulling her weight and doing the exercises that were set out for them. He didn't understand the green hair thing, but everyone seemed to have their odd traits around here. Riker supposed that if a guy could wear makeup and a girl could be blue, than nothing should be odd for him. She dressed kind of bizarre, but then again he could only say it added to the character of her. Her scent seemed honest enough, like oranges and soap, but he could smell the nervous sweat coming off her.
After a moment of studying her and reaching back swipe at Kat playfully, Riker stuck out a clawed hand to her. "Nice ta meet ye Donna. Welcome ta the New Mutants," he said paying special attention to how she shook his hand to decide what position she might take within the pack one day. "Aye we got ourselves a tight pack. If ya pull yer weight an' not let the team down, ye'll be taken care of an' have a family here. If ya dun... well let's just say that ye dun wanna be in that bloody position." He exchanged a look with Kitty on that one, but he had a better feeling about this girl than he did about the Runt.
"Ye got the Alphas, the Betas, an', the Gammas. Each o' them got their own set of duties for the team and everyone in those positions earned the in every way," Riker said with a serious grin on his wolfish features. He looked back at Kat and winked at her. "Love, will ya be nice an' get me a cold drink while I take care o' this. Then ye get me all to yerself," he said with a grin and took a great deal of pleasure in watching her walk away, the plump behind was becoming a favorite of his to look at. "As I was sayin', ya can pull yer weight on the team, than we got no problems. We be very close, when the rest o' em get out, come sit wit' us get ta know us. Hell I be here fer anythin' ya need now, and Kitty here be the best team leader, she will help ya with anything too," Riker said beaming in adoration for Kitty before looking back at Donna.

"Ana!" Heather whispered loudly. Sometimes the things her friend said were so mean. Of course Heather and Ana had a good friendship and were able to tell each other anything. However her bluntness was a bit caddy of her in Heather's opinion. Heather had the habit of thinking the best of people. First impressions were part of it, but unlike Riker, she didn't really observe new people before finally having an opinion of them. She always believed people were good or had the ability to be a good person. Believe it or not, she felt the latter for Haven since Gavin, Ian and even Aideen saw something in her.
Slightly tapping Ana's leg in a 'behave' manner, Heather shook her head with a smirk. "You are so bad. Stop being mean." She looked to Gavin and did feel a bit sad that he didn't see her when she thought he did. But he was oblivious to people a lot so she didn't hold it against him. "Oh stop you two," she said playfully to Veronika and Ana. "It's time to get food so let's go." Getting up, she stroked back her hair and adjusted her two piece before heading over to the grill. She smiled at the group of Acolytes along with other peers and snuck behind Gavin. It was time to get him back from the stables... again.
She thought that coming over to talk to Ian and Haven would be a bit awkward. The date from only a day ago was a pretty big deal but Heather didn't care anymore. After she told off Haven, she realized how good it felt to finally put her in her place. She wouldn't let the Latina bother her anymore and simply put their differences behind her. From last night on, Heather promised herself she wasn't going to give Haven the satisfaction. Plus, she had her own problems to deal with that were way more important.
Pressing her finger against her lips to all that saw her coming, she smirked deeply and immediately and readied herself for the kill. "WHATAREYOUDOING?" she yelled into his ear. It was a tactic he used on her plenty of times and it always scared the crap out of her. She giggled and looked at the rest of the group. "Hey guys," she said innocently and finally rested her eyes on the new girl. "Hi we haven't met, I'm Heather." She reached her hand out for the red haired rocker girl. She seemed pretty nice and Heather loved her style. "Is this BirdBrain bothering you?" She poked him discreetly in the gut, making sure he understood that the war was still on.
